The Oxhead Tavern

So... I think I might have made my first gallery upload? 🤣 I really don't know what I'm doing hahah.

I'm not a builder by any stretch of the imagination, but recently I've really got into shell challenges because they're a nice way to unwind at the end of the day. I don't have to think about shape, I just decorate what's there. This one nearly defeated me because I struggled with the roofing, but I think it works as a wonky medieval tavern!

The original shell is by TheGoldenAge (ID: thegoldenage1) and I recommend checking them out because they make such beautiful builds! This challenge is running until December 31st so you have plenty of time to join in if you want to.

40x30 (although the actual building is smaller - I just wanted to create the impression of a tavern tucked away in the woods)

After the success of The Naughtical Necessary, I decided to create this, The Captain's Commode!

The Captain's Commode is another close stool that can be utilized by all your historical sims. Although it's still stuck in the open position and there's still a ghost doing all the work of cleaning it after each use, it can be positioned anywhere your sims need a toilet. In fact, the Captain's Commode is even more historical because it can be carried around in Sims's inventories for use anywhere! On progress or adventuring, the Captain's Commode is readily available. It also stores in storage chests.

The Captain's Commode is base game compatible and comes in 16 swatches. It's also available off-the-grid.

A fortress carved in the rocks. It's still very much a wip. I had to take out the stairs at the entrance that took me more than hour to place because I remembered that horses exist in the game now. I want to place more oversized rocks in the background with the TOOL mod though to make a faux mountain range.

Medieval Windenburg - Old Town complete!

So I've finally got something to show for all the building I've been doing over the last couple of weeks! The first neighbourhood of my Medieval Windenburg is complete.

This is the Old Town (inner city area), where the Duke of Windenburg resides, along with several other important buildings crucial to the functioning of this bustling city.

All builds are my own, although I did use @anotherplumbob's amazing church build as a base for my church as I loved it so much. Credit must of course also go to @thesensemedieval for their amazing mod which turns the world of Windenburg into a medieval oasis!

I might also share some more shots of each build at some point, if anyone is interested that is (and if I can muster the motivation to take interior shots *shudders at the thought*)

Anway, all of the builds are as follows (in the order they are pictured):

Winden Keep (picture 2) - the central keep of the city of Windenburg, home to the young Duke and Duchess. They are (very) distant relatives of the Queen, but still very much like to think themselves royalty.

Church of the Watcher (picture 3) - the principal church of Windenburg, preaching the Watcher religion as favoured by the Queen (there are other rival religions who will have their own churches/temples in the other neighbourhoods).

The Quad Area (pictures 4 and 5) - consisting of a row of stone merchant houses, Water's Edge - a restaurant complete with stable for its visitors, and the Town Hall (a place hosting the market, play area, event space etc).

Winden Baths (picture 6) - a bathhouse open to all - rich and poor! It may appear legitimate on the surface, but inside is a bit of a haven for debauchery and devilishness. It is ironically owned by the Crumplebottom family.

Crumplebottom Manor (picture 7) - the pristine home of the Crumplebottom family, one of the most respected and successful families in the city. They live just opposite the Keep - that alone brings them buckets full of status!

Old Town Tavern (picture 7) - a huge complex consisting of the city's most frequented tavern, an accompanying stable, and a sprawling inn on the upper floors. This is THE place to be in medieval Windenburg!

So, what's next? Well, straight onto the next neighbourhood... still a long way to go with this world yet! I think I'll do the farming area next (I've already completed one peasant house there).
