Have some eddie studies while i get back into the groove of things

ive been practicing stylizing him more because im obsessed with capturing his likeness in my style. Actually studying his face a lot more made me realize how crazy square this guy is. I think i tricked myself into believing he was sharper than he actually was because you know, sharp triangles = jerk ass characters. But hes actually pretty soft and round. And long Horse face

Also it brings me zero pleasure to be Cassandra here, but “mass deportation” is a synonym for murder. I need you all to understand this. Even in the absolute best case scenario, it means large numbers of people being warehoused in slapdash facilities where illness spreads quickly and medical care is inadequate. It means government contractors providing food, trying to make a killing, and inevitably cutting corners on costs/quality/safety. It means police violence against people being rounded up. It means US citizen children being removed from their families or deported with them. It means people being returned to countries they fled in fear of their lives, and killed by domestic abusers/gangs/governments. It means bureaucratic mixups (/apathy/malice) that result in people getting dropped off in dangerous cities that they’ve never even visited late at night.

It means all of this and more, and if the government comes for your neighbors you should respond as if you are witnessing an attempted murder.

In one section of the canal path you walk with trees on both sides and with sunlight pouring between and through the leaves it made me think of the beginning of a favorite poem by Stephen Spender:

“I think continually of those who were truly great, / Who from the womb remembered the soul’s history / Through corridors of light where the hours are suns / Endless and singing.”

I felt like I was walking through a corridor of light, in time away from the world. I wish you could walk there.

I assumed the reason Logorhythms was trying to make sure Caspian's life mirrored Stephen's as closely as possible was because they wanted to download Holstrom's UI into him & didn't want his brain to reject it, but their actual plan was much stupider.

I think I've told this story on here before but once again I am thinking about how in january 2021 I was starting the aubreyad, and mentioned that to my granddad over the phone, it went something like this:

me: oh yeah granddad I've been reading those boat books you and dad like, I like them so far, we should talk when I'm further in

granddad: [old man approval mumblegrumble]

and then he died like a week later and we never got to talk about it beyond that and it was the last thing I ever said to him :) and actually that is probably okay because I doubt his takes would have been any good but even so :) aubreyad's haunted :)

Phoenix: So are you. Dawn: Aww, I love it when you get cheesy. Phoenix: I’m serious, Dawn, you’re incredible. Dawn: Are you okay? You look like you’re gonna – Phoenix: I’m fine. I just need to ask you something. Dawn: What?

Phoenix: Do you remember the first time we went rock climbing together in Mt. Komorebi, when I had that panic attack? Dawn: Yeah.

Phoenix:  Before that day, for years, I was so lost. It was like I was trapped in a dense fog of guilt and shame over my past. And there was a moment that day when I thought I’d be consumed by it, that my mind was finally going to shatter under the weight of it all. But it didn’t. I followed your voice like a thread, telling me it was okay, and helping me breathe. When I opened my eyes, I saw you. For a moment the fog cleared, and the weight I’d been carrying lifted. I felt… hopeful. You gave me hope. Since then, you’ve helped me heal. You’ve made me feel safe and supported and loved.
