This strip is one of those, "This basically happened almost verbatim and I just wrote it all down and punched up the dialogue." Heidi had never seen The Transformers: The Movie as a kid, but she LOVES 80s rock and hair metal and that soundtrack is just dripping with it. And yes, The Touch is NOT the first song on the album, but for the purposes of this strip, I felt like using that opening really sold the gag.

JR Bourne in Jeremiah
Oh why, oh why couldn’t they share a scene. Markus, you couldn’t leave the mountain to meet your fellow Tok’ra?

So pretty! And that hair!

So are the handcuffs Martouf’s kink or Lantash’s? 🪱⛓️‍💥😂

I’ve seen him in the yellow overcoat before (even used it in Martouf’s bio), but I didn’t know where it was from.

Damn, he pissed. Need some eye glow in that last one.

One of these days I’m going to post various Tok’ra licking their lips.

Snarly anger. Must be Martouf. Lantash gets frowny angry.
So Stenn…
Maybe it will make more sense later, but his plot made no sense. Experimenting on how a disease passes with a disease that no one has. I know Stenn (at least JR Bourne) is only in this episode, but it feels like they planned on returning to his story. It doesn't end, it just stops.
I don't know if it was intentional, but Angus is such a dirty coward, it's hilarious, acting all angry that his son was killed.
Dude, you were there! You helped hunt him down. You watched as he was tied up and sentenced. You disowned him after he begged for your help! You saw Stenn pick up the rock, and you heard Stenn ask your son if he has any last words. You not only argued with Kurdy when he came in to try to rescue the teen, you ordered your men to attack Kurdy. This was your reaction to Stenn throwing a stone at your son.
Tumblr media
Damn, that is just cold.
Then instead of staying with your son as he died, you scurried off.
Obviously, Stenn is the bad guy of the episode, but Angus is so much worse. He is involved in everything that happens, is a dirty coward, and worst of all, he straight up betrayed his own son.
It would be interesting if this story was followed up on, but it looks like neither Stenn nor Angus return.

Starscream is back...and you better bow before him.
One thing that stands out from the 1986 film is its animation. Everything, from Unicron chowing down Lithone to the battle scenes is hand drawn. You've heard well. CGI at that time was on development, and you had to let your imagination fly away to make the scenes as beautiful as possible. And just so you know, Transformers One is the first animated Transformers film for the first time in 38 years, and it too, has breathtaking animation, specially the landscapes. Hopefully the possible sequels will be at its same level. I've even heard we'll likely have Unicron at some point!
It is a bad thing many of our faves didn't last in this movie, specially Optimus Prime. And the reason why? They needed to sell more toys. Hasbro's got plenty of marketing strategies, and one of these includes killing Optimus and bringing him back to life once in a while. They even did that to Orion Pax in Transformers One! This will be one of the few reasons I'm getting Starscream today.
It's only been four months since it premiered, and my heart still thumps from the sole thought of Orion's metallic face. And if that wasn't worse enough, Starscream's crown and wings will rise its rate.
And well, so far, those are my thoughts on the 1986 Transformers movie and more. Also, I refuse to have the touch. I hate that song.
Hope you like it!
