Tia is an American who moved to Shibuya due to family business and has quickly grown to love the city. She loves the fashion and individuality, often found where all the shops are.

She also loves to rollerblade and uses that to get around, wearing a cute bunny hoodie when she does so. She’s quite good at it and has performed tricks in certain spots, making some whisper about a mysterious ‘Usagi’ girl. She is also an amateur graffiti artist, her signature being a cute anime bunny face with goggles.

Honestly i dont like sculk spreading/corruption storylines theyre really boring with a few exceptions

#at least make it MEANINGFUL. OR AN ALLEGORY SURE #but a lot of thr timr its just like #augh... ohnoo... thr sculkk.. its spreading and taking me ovrr.... fukkkkk.....#and then its either like poof all better now or oops fuck everythinfs dead the end #i just dont think theyre cool unless they have a specific meaning #like cub's sculk arc? that was really boring man ur not even from that server and ir didnt like do anything #i mean its funny from a 'its cub' pov but aside from that ehhh..... nah......#The corruption from s1 esmp was cool however but more because it served an actual function it was a good mass server event not caused by a #specific player but instead a mass storylune and players got to interact with it in interesting ways #but also there was never the threat of oh.... noo.... the entire world will become corrupted it was more WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS BIGASS PLANT #DOING HERE #and it tied into very nicely xornoth and that #esmp2 ALSO kind of had a corruption line with the fae but like.... what was that even.... i literally dint remember and i was there.....#it was boring......#oh and also owens nlsmp corruption storyline.... sigh....#there was so much potential for Sparrow and that storyline and i wish Owen had just gone 'okay i need people to roleplay as online for this #narrative' like Oli does #like u cant really do long term storytelling on what is a short term server if you arent ready to direct people and allow yourself to #control YOUR story the whole sculk spreading thing just seemed like a copout due to the server ending #where i think owen should have put his own content above what is technically true #its roleplay #like owen does roleplay well. but the difference is on the POW servers is that theres a set time and most people are on at the same time #but that just doesnt occur so much on youtube based smps and thats why i think until owen is able to direct more (outside of shared rp with #scott specifically) he's probably better suited towards streamed roleplay later edited #idk sculk storylines are boring basically they can work but only in an active server i feel #like with owens it was like 'oh fuck the sculk is spreading i have GOT to stop this!' meanwhile everyone else on the planet is like already #dead following his videos like idk man just didnt hit #there was also no specific defeat or true responce to the sculk either like ik there was the vault but idk #like overall. it was fine and i enjoyed it but thst doesnt mean i like sculk storylines

no, dragon age 2 is not the best dragon age game. but it’s also not the worst. and most importantly, it is my favorite.

#sorry for continuing to obsess over the cast of da2 13 years later. i just adore them #they’re messy and terrible but god do they compel me. the thing about da2 is that a surprising about of the bad writing CAN enhance it #if you really lean into it and make it work. it makes the characters worse people yes. it makes them very contradictory people #but the longer i sit on it the more i can make it work. the ending choice is still bad and lacking and doesn’t allow for genuine roleplay #and i lament that the world states don’t let me properly convey that my hawke THOUGHT they ‘did the wrong thing for the right reasons’#and that you can’t really play as the kind of selfish coward my hawke is to me you know. someone who pays lip service but doesn’t follow up #whose allegiances come with conditions and at the end of the day always looks out for individuals rather than entire demographics #i think that’s why i love varric so much too bc that’s how he is! he loves merrill and anders (tho he won’t admit it) BUT #he doesn’t really ‘get’ mage stuff. he wants them to give it up. anders even more so. varric doesn’t believe #there’s a gap of lived understanding between them he NEVER really tries to breech and that’s why his love is conditional #for as much as varric went to bat for anders year after year and would never have sold him out during their time in kirkwall…#he still resents anders in inquisition. bc anders had goals and ambition and wouldn’t settle for varric’s friendship #such a conditional allegiance would never satisfy anders. he wasn’t the type to forsake all mages just to live comfortably hidden by others #oh my god i need to play dragon age 2 again

Is sign language something the Order teaches?

After asking that, I realise that it's much more likely that Handlers learn it as part of their education (being the one who engages with the common folk out of the duo).

But what if a Hunter wanted to learn it? Would they have to request being taught as well?

And outside of the Order, how is sign language treated in the overall world?

it is, actually! sign language is pretty widely taught as a second language in Adrania. that's not to say that everyone is fluent, though, and there are different dialects just like in real life (ie ASL vs BASL) if someone is fortunate enough to receive schooling they will typically study common sign language (which is mainly used for trade and is very formal), but whether or not they retain it and can still understand it varies from person to person, and again there are variations that will differ from the basic common version taught in a school. with the class divide in Adrania, i also imagine there would be a drastic difference between the culture and sign of lower classes (who most likely will not have received any kind of education) and the upper classes.

and you're right, Lea is the one that is more proficient in it between the two, mainly because they are the one doing most of the talking. the hunter has a basic understanding and can typically interpret signs, but isn't the best at signing themself. if you go with Merry in Blackwater, you can see her, Mal, and Branwen all sign to each other, with Branwen actually being hoh. the hunter recognizes that Branwen calls Merry a bastard, but for the most part the three sign too fast for the hunter to understand. Merry and Mal will continue to use sign throughout the story, and they actually use a variation that neither the hunter nor Lea will recognize, even if they were signing slower; think of it like the thieves cant, but in sign.

#i know this kind of breaks some of the potential customization for the hunter #but it's not really something that will come up besides with Mal and Merry (which the hunter cant understand anyways)#but dont take this as me saying you cant roleplay your hunter as hoh #just know that it's also not something im planning on writing into the story. if that makes sense #also i use the word 'common' here like the way it's used in dnd #ive had sign built into the world since i started hehe i always intended for it to kind of work as a common trade language #a very formal variation used in ports and markets to get around language barriers #which is how a lot of pirates ended up using their own variation that evolved into what is basically a secret language #this will come up in ch3 since mal and merry will use it to talk to each other in front of everyone else #ask #anonymous #lore

i got the cutscene <3

#its actually crazy that there was even more content i missed that impacted the story this much #like this rlly illustrated how even tho my character and astari0n have both become better people astari0n is still so behind in that #(we know why ofc. hes still acting like a feral cat trying to self preservere with teeth and nail and all until the very end; the ritual)#my character had his most obvious 'shifting point' at the transition from act 2 to act 3 #like he fully realized that this is now truly bigger than himself. he has left marks on the lands and he has to go all the way #he has made true friends. one of his best friends is the kindest most compassionate person in the world #and very importantly he loves astari0n and THAT is the reason he now feels this actual compassion towards the other spawn #hes so personally invested in this issue now #and he can say that 'the world can be a wonderful place if you find your home in it astari0n' bc its something he has just recently had #a personal revelation abt #and astari0n deflects it and describes my character as someone who now 'spends their life sorting out other peoples problems'#and it rlly brings it to focus that he just cannot meet him where hes at anymore #just great conflict that feels actually meaningful and perfectly fits into the roleplay storyline ive made for my character #and omg the line 'im doing this for you too you know. to make sure were both safe. forever' from astari0n is just AAAAAAHDJJDJD. CRAZY #bc we know how toxic he becomes towards you if he completes the ritual!!!!!!#HHHHH this character!!!!! hes just MWAH. perfection #i cant wait until i get to doing the szarr palace again bc this added conflict will make the conclusion of this quest even more satisfying #anyway TOTAL tonal shift time. in start of the cutscene astari0n is standing next to the bed my character was sleeping in #so i can now have the hc that some nights they sleep in the same bed <3 #(WELL. you know. my character sleeps while he meditates)

anyway my personal ranks of origins backstories just in the game by themselves is brosca and tabris at the top, aeducan at the bottom. cousland i will admit is pretty impactful but i still feel like, as wild as an option it would have been, that a cousland warden should had the option to solo rule. they are from the only other teryn in ferelden and it's even said that it was considered for bryce to rule so like! come on!

aeducan is at the bottom because it so tightly locks you into siding against bhelen, which i suppose is fair for brosca being so skewed in behlens favor bc of rica, but brosca is just Good so i forgive that, while aeducan is just suffering.

i still stand by my idea that the 'noble' dwarven origin shouldn't have been the second aeducan child, they should have been the second aeducan's second in place of gorim. that way there would have been more room for roleplay. also the second aeducan child would have been a secret third option for ruler of orzammar that you would encounter with the legion of the dead that they joined after being kicked out.

you would have to both do the legion of dead quest to give them a noble caste, and also have high as hell coercion for it to work but it would really cool and also so funny to do. that said the origin just by itself is pretty fun, love being backstabbed by my second favorite baby brother from the dragon age franchise

mahariel and the magi warden are in the 'i like them but they don't feel as impactful' as much as it hurts me. they're both just kinda there, however that said if the game let you recruit jowan into your party that would bring the magi warden up much higher. alas.

#ama mumbles #dragon age origins #dragon age #sorry for putting this in the main tags yall can ignore me this is for the followers who want to block the tags lol #magi warden is brought up higher on an 'entire franchise' scale bc they feel relevant while the others... don't #but in just origins i will heartbreakingly admit they can feel a bit disconnected and underwhelming despite all the ties they have.#to the broken circle and to jowan bc of how smaller scope the choices you get in those two areas are #you get two choices with broken circle more or less and you either run jowan off or get him killed. sad.#which is fitting considering the fact they were forcibly disconnected from the world as a child by the chantry. anyway.#what if broken circle just let me kill the templars. what then.#if you could recruit jowan then they'd be tied to a companion and would probably get special dialogue with him #also then id get to drag my miserable adopted brother with me to the ass end of thedas. i was robbed when they scrapped that idea. robbed!!#to be fair magi feels less 'disconnected' in world and more just in a player sense #bc so much of the drama in it is entrenched in the lore of the world and when you don't know That then it feels. odd.#its a origin i feel many new players would have the hardest time emotionally getting into #mahariel however feels Very disconnected from everything. tamlen showing up as a ghoul i feel was added to remedy that a bit #bc otherwise theres really only nature of the beast and later on velanna but it's not even their tribe or someone they knew. so. 🤷‍♀️#these are just personal thoughts tho #also why is tabris and brosca at the top? bc they go hard and i love underdog stories.#brosca also helps make paragon of her kind like. actually land. i never know what to roleplay otherwise bc Why Would I Care #tabris is just good baby #when will the city elf player background return to me #aeducan would probably be more bearable if they hadn't made harrowmount like That as king. or at least. foreshadowed it better #beyond just ambient npc dialogue bc at that point in game most pl are just running past #made paragon of her kind feel more well rounded. its very hard to get invested roleplay wise when youre not a dwarf pc #but that might just be my own failings i suppose #lots of tags #sorry i rambled again
