Super Fresh . >> Swipe for 3D & BTS >> . This was quite a difficult shoot. I ended up using baby lotion as milk. I tried using just milk and cereal but it wasn’t stable enough - hence the crafting foam. Then I tried adding milk and the foam floated overflowing the cereal...😅 . #woodlandscenics #cornflakes #cow #shamrockfarms #az #arizona #h0scale #toyphotography #thegreatindoors #joecowtoy #stereoscopic #stereogram #londonstereoscopiccompany https://www.instagram.com/p/CEx5odpFXGB/?igshid=amma6d6mab2h

Phoenix ESU’s Quarantine Adventures
Tumblr media
By Phoenix Explorer Agnes.
(Image: Baking, Language Skills, Indoor Camping: just some of the adventures Phoenix Explorers have been having at home during lock-down.)
Whilst staying at home to help halt the spread of the virus, Phoenix Explorers have been keeping very busy with our online meetings!
So far, we have been having our weekly meetings on Zoom. During these video calls, we talk about what we have done over the past week, discuss potential expeditions we could go once the lock-down ends, and do easily accessible activities such as painting and bingo! In addition to this, we are set a weekly challenge to complete each week, and we share the results  with the unit during the following week’s call. It’s helping us to develop new and interesting skills.
That’s not all, however! Before each weekly Explorer session we have organised “Ask Me Anything” talks. These talks feature a professional from a certain field who tells us about the industry they work in, what it entails and answer our questions about what they do. These professionals come from a very wide range of fields, which ensures that there is something to interest everyone. The talks are open to Explorer Scouts from all over London; they are quite insightful and I would recommend joining one if you are yet to do so!
In addition to the weekly calls, the time we’ve spent at home has also given us a lot of time to plan and develop other projects and events. Recently, we formed ‘Out of Ashes’;  our very own Phoenix band. We did this to showcase the talents of the musicians in our unit! We’re hoping to record some music in the near future (from a distance of course) and have some good fun while doing it.
A lot of us were dissapointed our school leaver’s events have been cancelled, and so we’ve also started planning a “Prom”. If all goes to plan this will be held in the autumn term and would serve as a celebration of our achievements over the course of 2019 and 2020, and as a bit of a fun social event after having been away from friends for so long. We’re hoping other Explorers from across South London will join us too.
Tumblr media
Our leaders recently sent out some activity packs to the whole unit, to keep us entertained while we’re inside. They consisted of things such as paracord; a compass; ‘Ten Lessons From The Road’ by Alistair Humphreys; even some sweets to keep our spirits up! These give us lots of Scout-related things to do, which helps us to remember our skills for when we’re allowed to start having Unit meetings again. They are also a pleasant change of scene from the online schoolwork we have been receiving - it gives us the chance to do something fun and different, instead of doing online tasks and exams all the time.
Everything will hopefully return to normal in due course– but for now, we’re making the best of the situation!
Stay safe everybody! We’ll get through this!

here in austin, the bleak, rainy weather has been fitting for what we’re all going through right now. some of us are gleeful about having our own introverted inclinations validated and normalized by social distancing, but most others are suffering from it. a lot of people lack the internal resources to be okay with just staying in and away from people for prolonged periods of time. and most of us are just social creatures by nature. social distancing goes against our reproductive agenda; being social is a function of your reproductive fitness.
there are the countless tech veterans who are already used to working remotely, and chuckle down on the rest of the world that is clumsily grasping for jobs with skills they barely have.
bitter, sad jokes about how the service industry was 86’d in an instant - it took so little for our big, fragile system to unravel at this insane rate. countless workers are displaced right now, small businesses are desperately scrambling to find programs that will help them keep afloat in this climate as long as they can. musicians are live streaming to help alleviate the pain of social distancing for their fans. people are taking donations from their friends, fans, and regulars via venmo whether they’re artists, fitness gurus (virtual exercise classes), industry workers who got canned abruptly (kickstarts, gofundmes), etc,... creatives are getting together to make crowdsourced documentaries (Brian L Tan with his “QUARANTIMES” group on facebook), entrepreneurs are promoting networking on online channels to continue business, the list goes on.
the world is devolving into uncertain chaos, but chaos does interesting things to people’s creativity.

Branching out... the words weave and have no apparent beginning or end (sorry). 😅 ▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️ I’ve been thinking of contributing to the artist support pledge campaign for a while. It’s a way to support artists during the current covid climate... So artists share their work, with a price under £200. And if they sell £1k of art they pledge to buy another artist’s art. Now...for me, getting to that target is unlikely (very thankful to be employed as a, self titled, “HRtist” in Talent Management), when many artists will be really struggling just now. And I rarely price my art here... however I’m happy to say this drawing is £40 (£60 framed) and I’m happy to ship it (or deliver locally one day in the future)! 😅I know art is subjective, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I’ve learned people sometimes are shy to ask on prices - art can seem inaccessible (hidden by #artspeak). This is an A4 sized drawing, on artist quality paper, drawn in pen (permanent, so it won’t fade in time). If you can picture this as a #drawing for your wall, let me know... “Branches”, A4 (29.7 cm by 21 cm), pen on paper, 2020. 🔲👀😀 🌳 🖼 #BlackandWhite #Drawing #CovidContemplation #TheGreatIndoors #TheGreatOutdoors #Trees #Nature متفرعة ... الكلمات نسج وليس لها بداية أو نهاية واضحة (آسف). https://www.instagram.com/p/CARO_c1Fkkv/?igshid=8i81zbgc6tj3

Thank you, @fineacts for inviting me to create a poster for your #SpringofHope global art campaign. 💜💖💜 —— We can’t control everything that comes into our lives. We can take control of how we feel, how we dream and how we hope. We can create our own reality even if that means turning our living room into a forest with a tent in the center of it . And if you search for the light, you are already a step near to a magical place. —— Fine Acts will be releasing posters until the end of May with artworks of artists from all around the world . You can download and print the posters for free at fineacts.co/hope 🔮🔮🔮 ☁️Swipe for magic☁️ . . . #stalkersince1993 #fineacts #illustrationnow #illustrationart #digitalillustration #posterart #thegreatindoors #posterillustration #playtivism #illustrationdrawing #artistsoninstagram #illustrationartists #cosyhome #positivemindset (at Sofia, Bulgaria) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_rUdLqjhyh/?igshid=pcncvxt5erwq

Tonight we hosted Colin Skeath MBE, who spoke to us about his adventure circumnavigating the UK by canoe - the first time it has ever been done. This was the third in our weekly series of guest speakers open to Explorers from across London. Thanks Colin!
You can get a signed copy of Colin's book, and book onto a slightly less arduous canoe trip at https://source-2-sea.co.uk/our-book/
