#and before anyone who hates my shit says “yeah because you ARE a loser way to have self awareness for once”#i promise you this would be me with or without the LO fandom LMAO #anxiety is a hell of a thing #and as much as i internally guilt myself into thinking it would be better if i just shut up and hid away forever #i also know that's the trauma speaking because the adults around me always told me to shut up #and even as an adult i still encounter people who talk over me and make me feel like i'm not allowed to be outspoken #but the pen is mightier than the sword and all those years i've spent being spoken over i've been honing my penmanship #i have fun talking about the things i talk about and i don't have any less right than anyone else to do it #i am cringe and i am free #self post #vent post #altho on another note i do wanna make time this week to go find new series to read #too many of my favorites have turned to shit and it's taken its toll #i KNOW there are better comics out there that are genuinely well made #i already have a few that i'm reading that i love but i need to balance out the good with the bad more lol #i just need to take the time to go find good stuff instead of pouring so much of my attention into the bullshit that doesn't deserve my tim #i think both things can be true #i can have a lot of fun dissecting and writing about series i don't like #while also nourishing myself with good works that restore my faith in this medium #“perfectly balanced as all things should be”

This is Beetlejuice from a really weird fucking dream I had (my mortician character was his coworker at a grocery store in the dream fun fact)

The premise was he caught her smoking weed in the back of the store and there was a big montage of them doing weed every day at work and then she said something that made him think she was gonna tell the boss and get him fired so he got a gun out but didn't end up shooting her and the dream ended (artstyle was vaguely south-park-esque??)

I know that there’s Afrolatinos, but people act like their existence disproves antiblackness amongst Latinos.

A couple of weeks ago a Mexican classmate dropped the n-word and justified using it because he was Mexican. I hate it here so much.

They’re holding hands and running through a field of colorful flowers when it comes to their levels of antiblackness and it’s not even funny. Sm of them love saying nigga and then when confronted about why they chose to use the word, all that they say is that “they’re Mexican,” or whatever, just like you said, and would be dead serious. Almost smugly. As if being a poc absolves them somehow and it’s just very sad.

I've been trying to put into words how wild it is to see swift hate on my dash while I'm dating a Taylor Swift fan. Part of it is just that she's having a normal time just enjoying music she likes and being proud of how far a musician she likes has come while a war two steps removed from reality spills tons of ink.

Like, was anyone else aware that Swift's tour has been so popular it's been credited with majorly helping wake up the economy post-covid? Or that she's the first person to become a billionaire just through her music, personal label, and tour?

But the other thing, I think, is that it looks like people are interacting with Swift fandom in a pre-cringe way, and that's bringing out a cringe response that I thought was dead in a post-cringe space.

Part of it is blowback on things like Online fans thinking Swift is queer which is like, that was a central part of the SPN fandom, right? And the bad part wasn't the fanon, it was that it made it to the actors and their families?

But then the other thing is people having an issue with the songs themselves? For being bad and/or overwrought? On the bad/overwrought blog site?

Is it suddenly cool to hate things 12-year-olds are being annoying about again? Or is this site's latent bitterness at things that get popular bringing in an era of nu-cringe?

I haven't opened my game in a few days but I watched the new trailer and I can't stop laughing at how hard they're pushing being a landlord as the main feature and only highlighting property owning in the trailers when I have yet to see a single person actually excited about that part of the pack. #here's some of the classics on that list i have beef with btw:#i have tried to read A Confederacy of Dunces several times and it's funny but it's also so cringe and Ignatius is so obnoxious #that i find it too difficult to finish like i just feel depressed and bad for everybody around him too much #i tried reading Infinite Jest like a decade ago and i got like 200 pages in and i remember thinking it felt like #such a slog the entire time because he's just so gd wordy and also i stopped liking DFW after i heard the abuse allegations against him #frankenstein i didnt read that long ago but i just remember finding it so boring for some reason?? i feel i might need to read it again #dracula ngl i feel like im cheating a bit saying ive completely read it because i loved the beginning and then HATED so much of the rest #the characters were just so boring and melodramatic hahaha i just liked the part where jonathan was doing a travel diary #and trapped in the castle tbh and after that i skimmed quite a bit #i almost flipped my shit when i saw ender's game on there because I ALWAYS mix it up with ready player one by ernest cline #which i bought the audiobook of a while back and hated every minute of it i dont think its good at all #but it wasnt that so phew my faith in this list is somewhat restored #i read most of the first game of thrones book and was disappointed tbh maybe because id seen the show already #so i was like 'this feels almost exactly the same except worse?' because i'd been expecting it to give me more depth and insight #into the characters but instead it felt exactly the same and i still didnt love any of the characters enough to feel attached to them #also i am fully aware me not personally liking or vibing with a book doesnt mean it doesnt deserve to be considered great btw #but i think if youre gonna be like me and force yourself to go through a bunch of lists like this very seriously then you also need to just #let yourself be like 'yeah not for me' without feeling too bad about it sometimes too #often times i dont particularly love the classics or 'important books' but at the same time #i still feel like im getting more out of reading them than just grabbing the newest hyped up books that also dont do anything for me #maybe not in a 'wow i loved reading this' way but in like a #'i now have first-hand knowledge of this thing that is so influential / so frequently referenced'#or 'this challenged me and i feel like i did a mental/emotional workout or gave me some new food for thought'#or 'made me more aware of what gaps in my knowledge and reading skills and what my tastes are too'#sort of way...#it really just depends on what you're reading for and why and what you're hoping to get out of it a lot of the time maybe #it's like the homework i give myself to go through these lists that i also intersperse with the stuff i read more just for fun #p

s11 and what i've seen of s12 have been so interesting to me..... something changed but i can't articulate what and why and how my taste and my preferences and my expectations affect the way i think about these later seasons

#new writers? something in the air? it's just different #not BAD it's just. there's a kind of‚ i wanna say cheesiness or something about s11 that i didn't expect #there are moments that i really really loved and some i was just repulsed by in a different way than ever before?#there's also the quality of the production i think but that's whatever. like it's not the same show because it can't be. right #but um before s11 i don't think i've felt that that sunny was gimmicky. the schemes and hijinks and stuff felt organic in a way #oh i did feel kind of weird about (dissatisfied with?) some parts of frank reynolds' little beauties for example but it never felt like #that was overpowering the comedy and the fun #NO sitcom is consistently funny or consistently delivers the type of humor You personally like #there are episodes i don't love in my favorite seasons too #i don't know i guess i just thought s11 was more interesting (from the character side of things) than it was funny #but then again i did think the last three episodes were also just funny #and then with s12‚ which i've seen half of lol. it's weeeird as well #because i do love it but some of it made me cringe hard but some of it was so earnest and so fun i was grinning uncontrollably #but i'll see what i think at the end.. and after a full rewatch #which IS going to happen. so #you know.#kata.txt #iasip
