Hey, gang! Let's move away from the rock sound, and back into some very 00's techno inspired flavors...
I keep thinking of the "Metropolis" track from Spyro 2 whenever I hear this, for some reason. It evokes the same kind of vibe. There is a very vague tropical feeling evoked in some of the auxiliary synths in the A section. I think it's because it sounds similar to steel drums. The B section is a modal groove that sits on one chord--when the chords don't move the song along, everything else has to! The focus becomes on the bass and drums, the latter being moved to the left and right sound spaces, while the bass sits right in the middle. Everything moves front and center when the A section comes back in, with crunching guitars and swirling sounds that bring the energy right back.

Our First Disney Vacation - Soul Forge Podcast 301
Our first Disney vacation is in the books! This episode of the Soul Forge is a day by day recap of our exciting adventures. At the end of each day, Shawn and Leah sat down and recorded their memories of the excitement. Florida in September is still quite warm. Walt Disney World requires a lot of walking. Here is the story…
The Walt Disney World Resort, also called Walt Disney World or Disney World, or simply abbreviated WDW, is an entertainment resort complex in Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista, Florida, United States, near the cities of Orlando and Kissimmee. Opened on October 1, 1971, the resort is operated by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, a division of The Walt Disney Company. The property covers nearly 25,000 acres (39 sq mi; 101 km2), of which half has been used. The resort comprises four theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom), two water parks: (Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon), 31 themed resort hotels, nine non-Disney hotels, several golf courses, a camping resort, and other entertainment venues, including the outdoor shopping center Disney Springs.
Shawn and Leah tell you about the nightmare that was getting from their Washington layover into Orlando. The weather did not cooperate so the flight was quite late. One common thing on the entire adventure was the lack of comfort in the seating, both on the jets and the buses. The humidity was off the charts. One of the best parts of our first Disney vacation was visiting with friend Jarman and his wife Jolie.
Shawn and Leah went to Icon Park where they rode the Wheel of Orlando. They also visited a wax museum and the Sea Life Aquarium. The Florida Mall still has an operating Sears store! The Disney Character Wearhouse was always busy.  The food at most places was decent.
The actual Disney part of the trip was exhausting due to so much walking and the heat. Fun parts include the ferry ride, the Skyliner, Toy Story Mania and Star Tours. The 50s Prime Time Cafe had wonderful food and ambience. We enjoyed Soarin’ as well as Mickey’s Runaway Railway rides. Also, we got to see dolphins, lizards, manatees and a hammerhead shark. We were disappointed in Woody’s Roundup BBQ and the lack of a direct route to Hollywood Springs from our hotel. Getting the park hopper option is a definite must. The Epcot food and wine festival was the favourite part of our first Disney vacation.
This week’s podcast promos: Earth Station One, Earth Station Who, Epsilon Three, and the ESO Patreon promo.

can you talk a bit about what you do as conservation work? i’ve seen a couple of your posts float around (the seasonal worker comic and the one about the remote island) and have looked into conservation stuff a bit myself and it all looks super cool!! i was just looking for a bit of a more personable take that what job sites describe
Of course! :) A lot of the work I've done has been in either trail maintenance, habitat restoration, or biological fieldwork, with a little bit of outdoor recreation stuff mixed in. Pretty much all of those things (barring the outdoor rec) have been in partnership with or working directly for government agencies (DNR, USFS, BLM, NPS, USFWS, etc.)
Trail work is very trades oriented - you are using tools (generally handtools - especially if you are working in designated wilderness, which prohibits any kind of mechanization) and your body to build effective infrastructure that will last a good, long time. Project work covers a huge range - brushing trail, digging tread, building structures, fence repair, rock work/wall building, etc. Often you have to work with natural materials on the project site, because hauling in lumber or stone is not feasible. It's hands-on & technical work, and it needs a lot of creativity! Your end goal is that no one knows you were there at all, because your work blends seamlessly into the landscape. A lot of people who hike or mountain bike don't realize how much effort and complexity it takes to maintain a trail! It's a very secret service, & I think there's something really beautiful in that. It's dirty, hard work, and you'll very likely go long periods without access to service or utilities (lots of treating/filtering your own water, camp-cooking your meals, showering in the creek, and sleeping on the ground).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The habitat restoration I've done has generally involved the removal of invasive plants & the planting/seeding of natives. This is also pretty intense physical work! You might have to get certified/trained in working with herbicides, which are sometimes a necessary tool in fighting invasive plants. Hack-splash or drill-fill are the most commonly used herbicide techniques in restoration, because broadcast dispersion is considered a last resort. That involves individually treating each invasive plant with herbicide, using minimal amounts and concentrations to limit the effect on the surrounding ecosystem. The two biggest restoration projects I've worked on are the re-planting of disturbed alpine meadows (50K plants in about six weeks) and the removal of invasive coconut monocultures from native rainforest (hacking down palms with a machete, and spraying/injecting the cut stump with a small amount of herbicide to prevent it from coming back).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My biological fieldwork has been mostly marine-oriented - I've done a lot of work with seabirds, as well as coral reef survey & tagging sharks, mantas, tuna, and dolphins. My seabird work involved monitoring nesting colonies (counting babies, tracking growth) with some tagging, banding, and sample collection as well. The seabirds I worked most with were several different booby species, Greater Frigatebirds, Red & White-tailed Tropicbirds, noddies (both black and brown), & terns (white & sooty). Most of the marine tagging I did was using handline fishing techniques, and required me to have a lot familiarity with/certifications for boat operation & seamanship. Biological fieldwork has definitely been lower labor-intensive than trail work or restoration, but still requires a lot of hiking & hauling gear around remote (& sometimes treacherous) terrain! You will also have really intimate exposure to animal bodies and death, and will probably (definitely) get pooped on/thrown up on/bled on at some point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A big common theme throughout these kinds of jobs is the ability to work in small groups, in isolated places, for long periods at a time. I hope this was the kind of information you were looking for in terms of what the actual work is! Feel free to reach out/message me if this didn't actually answer your questions <3

Okay imagine this: Jolyne, Ermes, and Foo Fighters are on a two-week girls trip at a ski resort in Keystone, CO and they’re having fun skiing. By the time they get to the jacuzzi part of the trip, Jolyne and Ermes were relaxing when Foo Fighters falls into the hot water. Surprisingly, Foof isn't burned as she relaxes with her gal pals.
Oooh interesting! I loved all three of the girls dynamic! This inspired a scenario. Thanks for sending this in. Sorry this is late I kept forgetting to reply!
Tumblr media
Stone Ocean Trio
Ski Trip Resort 🦋 Scenario
Jolyne and Ermes seemed are hyped for the trip. Both have never been on a skiing trip and are pretty athletic so I’m sure they’d be naturals. They’d drag Foo Fighters along with them. Foo Fighters was given the pamphlet about the ski resort in Keystone so she could be more informed about the experience. She is very curious so she too is excited for such a trip.
At the resort all three are excited to check out everything it has to offer them. They gets snacks and go skiing for most of the day after. Foo Fighters and Jolyne are naturals but Ermes needs a bit more practice. Ermes does get better with each passing hour thanks to the other two giving tips and being patient with her. They of course have a snow ball fight with the use of their stands. Over all having a good time.
After they eat they decide to head to the resorts indoor jacuzzi. Ermes and Jolyne are relaxing with their eyes closed. Ermes wears a bikini orang top and matching sporty surf shorts. Jolyne wears a purple butterfly themed bikini. Foo Fighters wears green swim shorts and a striped green tank top.
“This is a jacuzzi?” Foo Fighters points with her curious blue eyes looking over the bubbles.
“Yeah come in!” Ermes says enthusiastically.
“The water is great. I’m looking forward to two weeks of this.” Jolyne comments as Ermes agrees.
Foo fighters isn’t sure if she should try out the bubbly warm water. She’s never been in warm water before. At the green dolphin prison they only have cold water. Before she knew it she fell into the water. Jolyne and Ermes weren’t worried at first until F.F. wouldn’t rise out of the water for a while.
Soon F.F. rises from the bottom of the jacuzzi with a relaxing sigh. Her blissful expression made the two girls sigh with relief. They’re all thankful to go back to relaxing. They’re tired of fighting stand users and a corrupt priest. Their two week trip to Keystone was the best idea they’ve had in a while.
“Too bad Pucci isn’t here. This is heaven.” Jolyne crosses her arms behind her head with a chuckle while the other two laugh.

The best amenities at which Disney parks
Around Disney World, some other resorts and hotels offer extras comparable to those found at Disney hotels. These include the Coronado Springs Resort and the Swan Reserve. Some of these, however, are not Disney-owned and might not provide the facilities found at Disney resorts.
The Old Key West resort is a sizable, spacious resort with easy access to all necessary amenities. The Hospitality House is nearest to all the amenities. Therefore, it is ideal to stay close by. The bus, which makes a 20-minute loop around the resort, is another option for visitors.
The hotel has four swimming pools: the main pool, the kids' pool, the sauna, and the hot tub. The main pool is the only pool with lifeguards on duty and a slide. In addition, turtle Pond Road features a second pool, playground, and snack bar. Between buildings 19 and 20, there are also two recreational swimming pools. Open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm, the pools are.
The northern Mexican and Spanish traditions are the basis for Disney World's Coronado Springs Resort. There are plazas, courtyards, and residences in the pueblo style throughout the resort. The Gran Destino Tower, Moorish lamps, Spanish tiles, and Salvador Dali-inspired design elements are all present.
The resort contains a spa, a salon, and a gift shop where you can buy Disney-related goods and food. The resort also offers daycare options and a meeting centre. You can use the dry cleaning and washing services if you change your clothes. Additionally, the resort offers self-parking for $20 per night.
Coronado Springs has excellent landscaping. The Gran Destino Tower, a new tower hotel, has recently been added as part of a recent renovation. However, the tower is the only budget hotel with inside rooms. The additional lodging options at Coronado Springs are scattered throughout the lake's communities. These are less expensive than the accommodations in Coronado Springs.
The hotel offers a range of room sizes, including villas with one, two, and three bedrooms. These rooms come with balconies and kitchenettes in them. Some of the rooms have several conveniences for families and queen-sized sofabeds. Old Key West is a favourite choice for Disney holidays, and you can count on a good night's sleep there.
The Pop Century Resort offers something for everyone, whether you are a frequent visitor to Disney parks or a first-timer. The wacky motif of the hotel extends to the pools and entertaining features. For instance, the Hippy Dippy Pool, which features water jets in the shape of daisies, is influenced by 1960s flower power. Another feature is a foosball court that is life-size. At the Pop Century resort, there are three themed swimming pools.
Pop Century was built in 2003 and just underwent a significant renovation. While some rooms feature one king bed, some offer two queen beds. Some of the rooms even have a coffee maker. In addition, some rooms have a refrigerator and a hair dryer, while others don't.
The resort's on-site pool is also open to guests, and it comes with lounge chairs and a fire pit. The pool is a tranquil retreat from the Magic Kingdom, next to a restaurant and pool bar. The Swan and Dolphin, which also has a beach and cave, is only a five-minute stroll from the hotel. There is a ton of entertainment and party music available at the Swan and Dolphin.
The Kilimanjaro Club and luxury rooms are only a few abundant lodging options available at the Animal Kingdom in Disney park. The latter provides more amenities and more individualized care. Seventy rooms make up the concierge-level club known as The Kilimanjaro Club. Kilimanjaro Club rooms provide more bedrooms, space, and separate check-in areas than regular Animal Kingdom Jambo hotel rooms.
There are numerous amenities in the Swan Reserve at Disney parks that are unmatched. Departing at the Transportation and Ticket Center, travellers can enjoy complimentary theme park parking and transportation aboard Disney buses. The Swan's visitors can enter theme parks first. Additionally, theme park tickets are available at the Swan for its guests.
Many of the animals that wander the Savanna throughout the day can be seen by guests staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Additionally, many of these rooms include many trees and lovely vegetation.
