Gentle reminder that disabilities are disabling.
You're not some awful, bad person for not doing things that able-bodied people can do without negative consequences.
Sometimes, you haven't showered in a while.
Sometimes, your room is a mess.
Sometimes, the dishes pile up.
That doesn't make you a failure or deserving of less respect, support, and kindness.
Being disabled, having disabilities, and things that result from said disabilities, don't change the fact you deserve to exist. You deserve peace, and love.

Proud of ourselves rn chat. We got up, took our meds and ate breakfast, played a game for awhile, did a bit more practice in procreate, AND actually cooked a meal for ourselves for lunch!!
It's 2pm and we're tired, we're lying back down possibly for the rest of the day, but you know what. We did something. We deserve to rest now.
Take care of yourselves as best you can too, y'all.

A bit of positivity for the day... you are loved <3
Tumblr media
Do you sometimes wonder to yourself...
Am I enough?
Do I matter?
Does anyone care?
Would it even matter if I didn't exist?
Am I valid?
Is it worth living?
Why does no one seem to care?
...
If any of these questions are in your mind right now, or another time during the day.
Take a deep breath, breath in slowly through your nose, then exhale through your mouth. Think about it... Why are these bothering you?... Does it even matter if someone doesn't want to care?... Do you need to care if someone doesn't think you are enough?...
You don't...
Because all of you, every single one of you... whether you are disabled, a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, a system, someone who suffers from trauma, someone who is seen as "problematic", therians, furries, or everyone who doesn't fit in... You are all yourselves... And you deserve to be yourself...
You bring something new to someone's life even if you are not quiet sure what that is... Both good... And bad... You might have your bad days, your good ones, those which are neither... You might have mood swings, but... No matter what, you are still yourself... You are valid... You deserve to be loved and taken care of... Your trauma does not define you... You, all of you are just beings who still deserve kindness... Even if you don't believe that yourself.
I know that some times are hard, but just know... Even if not right now... Even if not in the near future or even in this life... But some people will eventually have your back... And even if they don't right now... That doesn't make you a bad person, any less valid, any less deserving as others...
You are worth it... All of you are...

a funny detail about being a system with a disabled body, some things are affected differently when someone else is fronting/in control.
i dont mean like "x was fronting so we were blind that day but y is fronting now so we're unable to use our legs at all"
i mean some alters, especially introjects who's source has a disability, will experience the disability our body has a little differently from each other. one alter might feel the body's pain more than another, one might walk with the cane differently
for example, one of our victors is more reliant on our cane and keeps it closer to our hip when we walk, moving it with the leg on that side. or york, our vision in one eye becomes more blurred and fuzzy than the other and we start feeling a bit of a headache on that side of the head.
the disability(ies) the body has can present just a bit differently and be experienced a bit differently by each alter when youre a system. this isnt the case for every system who happens to be physically disabled but this is the case for us. not every single alter has a different experience to each other, some have the same or are "blind" to the experience at all and dont realize the body's condition.
its a neat detail that our brain works this way, before we knew we were a system we thought it was just weird on and off things, but those things are always there just some of us aren't as "tuned in" to the body as others. behaviour shifts are common when an alter switches out fronting with another, disabilities presenting a little differently between switches isnt that far from being the same amount of normal either.
for myself, i notice our body's tension and anemia symptoms the most.
im interested in hearing if other systems have this kind of experience, whats it like for you? what minor changes do you notice with switches?

disabled system asks: 1-4, 10!
1. Is your disability invisible, visible or both?
Both: invisible in the way that there appears to be nothing outwardly wrong with us (as doctors kindly keep reminding me) but visible in the way that we use mobility aids almost all the time. We wear a sunflower lanyard in public, and use a mixture of a cane, crutches and a wheelchair depending on the day.
I wish to add, as someone who has looked able bodied, and disabled in various fonts.. people don’t treat disabled people better if they’re in a wheelchair or visibly ill, and some are arguably worse to young wheelchair users.
2. Do you use mobility aids? If so, what for?
We do! As said above. We have a mixture of issues (ranging from endometriosis to POTS to hEDS to fibromyalgia) that create.. well, a mixture of issues XD. We’ll use the wheelchair on bad pain and fatigue days and carry the crutches.. or, on better days, just use the crutches to take some pressure off our knees, and aid as balance. As cool as our cane looks (photos later), we stopped using it as it was giving us pretty severe hip pain on one side from the way we had to lean to get support from it (still my fav visually though).
3. Is there a specific alter/part/headmate who fronts to deal with pain? How do they manage it?
Yes, that would be me. I split when we were very young to deal with injury, particularly blood. As our chronic pain increased, so did the amount of time I spent fronting, until I slowly became our most common fronter. Sucks though, cuz that was never meant to be my job, I was supposed to stay sitting on the sidelines only appearing to deal with first aid and other protector things. Instead, I’m here, and somehow I make it everyone else’s problem.
My appearance as most common fronter got us outed as a system because I’m so drastically different from the common fronters of the time. {its a little more complicated than that but you get the idea}
I manage it with a combo of pain killers (including medicinal CBD, THC, and flower, pregabalin, panadol, ibuprofen, codeine and morphine amongst other things… happy to answer questions about any of them if you’re curious), dissociation, weaponised tears and sheer fucking willpower… I wish I could say sheer fucking will was still working, but it is not very well anymore. There’s only so much one can deal with, and our pain has been getting steadily worse for the past few years with very little support (most of our illnesses have no cure, only management). We’ve reached the point where our doctors and specialists aren’t sure what to do with us and are wondering if there’s something they have missed…but uh, our tests, bloods and results are coming back clean. Looking into that at the moment lol.
4. Do you experience pain variety based on who’s fronting?
Oh hell, do we ever. Certain members of the system *cough* Kyle *cough* have dreadful pain tolerances - I always know when one of them is cocon because our pain skyrockets into impossible levels, even if I’m trying to keep it under control. Certain other members of our sys have average pain tolerances, some age regress to cope, others just curl up in a ball and sob.. depends on the alter - and the cyclical nature of parts of our pain make it difficult to manage, and to recognise how each alter is affected. Plus, it’s hard to compare pain tolerances when each of us have no other/barely any frame of reference.
10. Do you decorate your aids?
YES. We use a combination of spray paint, cheap nail polish, stickers and in the case of the wheelchair, holders designed for prams and bikes (water bottle holder, clips, bells, reflective stripes etc).. aids start out super boring and for us, decorating them and making them prettier is the only way to make them tolerable. And political - if the government is going to make our life into a political ‘issue’, we will turn right back around and make them aware of our existence ;)
the pic doesn’t grasp it very well, but we painted the chair’s spokes rainbow (and they look super cool when we’re driving it)
Thanks to @disabled-systems for the game <33

Welcome to our blog! We are the Star System.
🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
Pronouns: he/they/it/pup/any other xeno pronouns
We don't know how many of us there are, but the ages range from 3 y/o to literally eternal and ageless lol
We are an autistic system, and are multiply disabled. Most of us have speech, but some of us can't use our mouth to speak. We are not nonverbal or semi verbal however, as that is a permanent state.
We experience dissociation, derealization, and depersonalization. Often all at once.
We will, at times, post triggering content. We will tag triggers to the best of our abilities. If you need us to tag something, please tell us. We will also state triggers at the start of a post.
If you take issue with our boundary of no endogenic identifying systems, block us. Do not message us about it. Do not comment about it. You will be blocked. We will not listen to you.

Let AAC users say fuck!
Let them swear, let them say fuck and asshole and anything else they want.
Let them program their devices to say ‘fuck off’ instead of just ‘leave me alone, please’. Let them have language that’s adult or even offensive! Give them the ability to communicate the same as anyone else- let them have the option to be abrasive and even rude for when people are being assholes, let them swear casually so they can joke with their peers and say shit like ‘can you pass the damn ketchup’!!!!!!!!
Let disabled people say fuck!

Your personal triggers and squicks do not get to determine what kind of art other people make.
People make shit. It's what we do. We make shit to explore, to inspire, to explain, to understand, but also to cope, to process, to educate, to warn, to go, "hey, wouldn't that be fucked up? Wild, right?"
Yes, sure, there are things that should be handled with care if they are used at all. But plenty more things are subjective. Some things are just not going to be to your tastes. So go find something that is to your tastes and stop worrying so much about what other people are doing and trying to dictate universal moral precepts about art based on your personal triggers and squicks.
I find possession stories super fucking triggering if I encounter them without warning, especially if they function as a sexual abuse metaphor. I'm not over here campaigning for every horror artist to stop writing possession stories because they make me feel shaky and dissociated. I just check Does The Dog Die before watching certain genres, and I have my husband or roommate preview anything I think might upset me so they can give me more detail. And if I genuinely don't think I can't handle it, I don't watch it. It's that simple.

in so much pain we cant stand properly, every movement sends very sharp pain from our lowerback out elsewhere
its causing dizzyness and nausea
it even triggered my brother to front and now hes stresed and scared because it only gets this bad when somethings really wrong
tbf i have been overdoing it on the body, doing more walks on the hill on uneven ground than we should have etc
most of the systems probably been avoiding front because of it
and i cant even be fully aware of all the pain, others are and apparently im being too casual about it /sys
if i let the body rest during the weekend tho we'll probably be fine again by monday..
