Stress Relief/Calming Distraction/etc. Ideas for Regressors (based on my own experiences and things I've learned from others)
-- FIRST AND FOREMOST,
• Take some deep breaths. I know that's like listening to a broken record and obvs doesn't work for everyone, but it's worth a try!
Tumblr media
• Drink some water and put some comfy clothes on and/or wrap your favorite blankie around yourself!
• Put on some soft lighting, if available. Especially if you're overstimulated!
• If you gotta/wanna bodily/vocally stim, DO IT!!! I also like to use stim toys and touch/hug soft things like a blanket, stuffie or pillow.
• If you have a pet, give 'em a cuddle or some pets! (a stuffie is also very comforting!) Or if you have one that can't/doesn't like to be handled/touched, you can just sit and watch them move around (feeding them if needed, can also be fun to watch!) (I love watching my fish swim around/eat sometimes 😹)
• If you're feeling anxious; dip your face in a bowl of cold/ice water, eat something sour or spicy like Warheads sour spray, Sour Patch Kids, Takis or jalapeños, hold something cold like an ice pack against your chest/stomach, try to relax your jaw and shoulders, use stim toys/stress balls
• If you're feeling angry; you can crumple/tear up pieces of paper or an old notebook. Writing down your feelings and/or scribbling rapidly before doing this is good too! You can also punch a pillow or anything soft enough to where you won't hurt yourself. Ik it can be wasteful, but snapping wooden pencils into lil bits was very therapeutic for me for a while! If you happen to have balloons for whatever reason, you can tie one to a rubber band(/string?) and bounce it against your fist like onea these babies:
Tumblr media
• From the one above, write out your feelings! Even if it's just "I am feeling _ because _". If you have a hard time finding the words, here's some cool emotion wheels I like to use!:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• If you are on your period, take some painkillers (Midol is a lifesaver!), try to avoid caffeine & nicotine if you smoke, use a heating pad/heated blanket if available, take a hot bath or shower, if possible exercise/walking or certain stretches can help with cramping, and I'm gonna be completely honest here free-bl33ding on the toilet just helps sometimes idk 😂
-- NEXT, DISTRACTIONS:
• If possible, go for a walk or ride your bike around the block!
• If possible, try to talk to/call or text someone you trust, like a friend or family member. You can talk about anything, it doesn't have to be about what's causing your stress/anxiety/etc.
• Watch TV, YouTube, stim GIFs/videos, etc. Whatever helps you relax or laugh!
• Play a calming video game (I like to play Slime Rancher, Animal Crossing, Cooking Mama, Night In The Woods, Webkinz and No Man's Sky on creative mode!)
• Be creative! Even if you think you're "bad" at it bc it doesn't matter if it looks "pretty," you don't have to show anyone or post it anywhere. All that matters is if it makes you feel better! Drawing/doodling and coloring have always been a very great emotional outlet for me! Other fun stuff you could do: Splatter/abstract paint, make a collage or start a scrapbook, make a DIY craft with stuff around your house, SCRIBBLE!!, play around with an instrument or music program/app, design a character on Picrew or some sort of character creator, print out/make paper dolls and their clothes, stickerbomb something, film a music video featuring ur pets/stuffies/toys!
• Continuing the creativity one, make a mood/stim/agere board for yourself, an OC, your fave/comfort characters(s), etc.!
• Do word/number puzzles like word searches, crossword puzzles, sudoku, acrostic puzzles, cryptograms, framework/fill-in puzzles, etc.
• If you like making lists (like me), write out a list! (Ideas: Your comfort characters/movies/shows, your favorite board/video games, favorite places or cool places you've been, interesting animals, favorite bands/musical artists, current favorite songs, etc.)
• If you're like me, you can play some music and write down your favorite lyrics from each song that plays! (And doodle/scribble around the paper borders in between hehe) And/or make a playlist! Maybe make a playlist of songs that make you feel better in that moment, so you can look for it whenever ur stressed/upset!
• If possible, take a hot bath (you can add bubbles, bath bombs and/or toys!) Or a quick shower. Oh, and speaking of, I have a tip for people who struggle with brushing your teeth/remembering to do so! Try brushing your teeth when you shower!
These aren't the only things I do/know about, just ones I can remember at the moment, and they may not all work for everyone of course, but hopefully this is helpful to someone. 🥺 Feel free to add more in the replies/tags/reblogs!

WHO: Livvy & @elliot-newman
WHERE: Blades
WHEN: December 2nd
Livvy had grown up with many aspirations: someday having her own horse (that she would, of course, compete with and become world famous because of her elite riding skills), living in a mansion by the ocean with her perfect husband and three kids was probably the biggest. And if that didn't work out? She'd win gold in figure skating at the Olympics. As it turned out, she worked at a therapeutic riding program, had a beach bungalow, and was a cat mom... who never did perfect that triple axel. But it hadn't stopped her from showing off the skills she had worked hard at acquiring year after year at the ice skating rink in town. Or, in the case of this year, helping Elliot to stay on his feet, rather than on his backside. That was going to be her goal this year.
Plopping down on the bench next to him, Livvy held out the skates in his size that she had gone to rent, grinning at him before turning to take her own out of her bag, quickly unlacing her snow boots to begin putting the skates on, lacing them expertly, slender fingers working quickly at the strings before nodding to herself, and turning to look at him once more with a wide smile, mouthing the word 'ready?' when she was sure that he had his boots on tight.

I love how, even before Monokuma shows up, Jabberwock is kind of a shit-show.
Like. I don't mean that this place wouldn't be fun to live in or that Usami has some nefarious intent. Just. She does not have her shit together. The place feels hastily thrown together and Usami's a bit out of her element, doing things like interrupting Hajime and Nagito's trip to the farm because she realized cows would be better to have than chickens.
Not to mention that, while Usami seems to have been created for a cuddly-cute mascot appeal that's instantly disarming, she actually just winds up weirding people out as badly as Monokuma did when he first showed up at Hope's Peak. They don't know they're in a virtual reality space. A possessed stuffed bunny telling them to hug it out is freaky when it's seemingly happening in real life.
This is basically the beta run for the Neo World Program as a therapeutic deprogramming system. You can tell that they've never done this before. Not only that, but there's a lot riding on its success so a bit of stress and second-guessing on Usami's part is totally reasonable.

Just got back from the blessing of the horses at the parishioner’s farm and ahhhhh I miss horses so much. She even let me lead one of them and then I got to groom him. So now I smell like horses which I know sounds disgusting to most people, but it’s such a comfort smell.
And!!! She said I could come back to ride and help out with the therapeutic riding program. That would be so amazing. I haven’t ridden since 2019. It would be such a dream to be around horses again, let alone ride.

Experience Realism in Virtual Worlds with a Motion Simulator
In the rapidly advancing world of virtual reality and immersive experiences, a motion simulator is the key to bridging the gap between the virtual and the real. Whether you're a gaming enthusiast, a pilot in training, or an engineer testing vehicle dynamics, Motion simulator offer an unparalleled level of realism that enhances your experience, making it feel as though you're truly in the thick of the action.
Tumblr media
What is a Motion Simulator?
A motion simulator is a sophisticated piece of technology designed to simulate real-world motion in a controlled environment. This can range from replicating the sensation of flying a plane to mimicking the bumpy ride of a race car. By creating movements that align with visual and auditory stimuli, motion simulators provide users with a highly realistic and immersive experience.
These simulators work by using a combination of actuators, sensors, and software to move the platform in response to the user's inputs or the programmed scenarios. For instance, in a flight simulator, the platform might tilt and vibrate to simulate the feeling of turbulence or the banking of an airplane. This physical feedback is what sets motion simulators apart from traditional virtual reality setups.
Applications of Motion Simulators
Gaming: The gaming industry has embraced motion simulators to provide players with an enhanced experience. Racing games, flight simulators, and even space exploration games can be taken to the next level with the addition of a motion simulator. The realism of feeling every turn, acceleration, and impact immerses players in ways that standard controllers simply cannot.
Training and Education: Motion simulators are essential tools in training programs for pilots, astronauts, and military personnel. These simulators offer a safe environment to practice and refine skills without the risks associated with real-world training. For example, flight simulators equipped with motion technology allow pilots to experience a wide range of scenarios, including emergency situations, which are critical for their training.
Vehicle Testing: Engineers and designers use motion simulators to test the dynamics of vehicles such as cars, trucks, and even trains. By simulating different driving conditions, these professionals can gather data on how a vehicle responds, ensuring that it meets safety and performance standards before it's ever driven on a road.
Therapeutic and Rehabilitation: Motion simulators are also being used in the medical field to aid in rehabilitation. For patients recovering from injuries, these simulators can recreate the necessary movements to help regain muscle strength and coordination in a controlled and safe environment.
The Technology Behind Motion Simulators
The effectiveness of a motion simulator lies in its technology. High-quality simulators use advanced motion cueing algorithms to ensure that the movements feel as realistic as possible. The platforms are equipped with actuators that can move in multiple degrees of freedom, including pitch, roll, yaw, and surge. This range of motion allows the simulator to replicate complex movements, whether it’s the sharp turn of a race car or the gentle climb of an airplane.
Moreover, the integration of sensory feedback, such as sound and visuals, with motion is crucial for immersion. Modern Gta simulater often use high-resolution screens, surround sound, and sometimes even VR headsets to complete the experience.

TASK #21 LET’S GO TO WORK
What does your character do for a living?
Livvy technically works two jobs. She is a physical therapist at the White Heron Wellness clinic, and runs the therapeutic riding program, Harmony Healers, at Harmony Ranch.
How long have they been doing that job?
She took over the therapeutic riding program in 2023, but had volunteered for a while before then, wanting to be as hands on as possible, so she's been working with the kids and the horses for much longer than she's been in charge of them.
As for physical therapy, Livvy started out in 2013 with an internship out in San Francisco, finished her education, and moved home to take up the position she works in now in 2014 and hasn't really looked back since.
What made them decide to go into that career / job?
For physical therapy, it was an easy decision. She knew that she wanted to go into some form of medicine, since she wanted to help people. Originally, she wanted to go into pediatrics, work with children, but a relationship with a man who had a terminally ill daughter that they lose while together shifted her focus... especially after breaking her leg and needing to go through physical therapy herself. She decided it was a good way to heal.
Getting involved with Harmony Healers just felt like an obvious choice for her. She loved horses, she loved helping people. Getting to do both of those things at once seemed like the perfect combination.
What is their favorite thing about their job?
In both cases, it's watching kids smile and laugh, and helping people get back on their feet. Literally. But it is an added bonus that she gets to work with her own horse every day at the ranch.
What is their least favorite thing about their job?
For physical therapy, it's not always being taken seriously because she's a woman in a man's world, basically. As far as the program, not having more hours in the day.
What was the first job that they ever had?
It's incredibly embarrassing, but when Livvy first moved out to the west coast, she took odd ball jobs doing modeling gigs. She rarely talks about it with anyone.
What jobs have they worked since then?
She's only ever really worked in physical therapy and with the horses! Truly, her life was pretty blessed with opportunity, and she tries to remember that as often as she can.
What was their favorite job that they’ve ever had?
The therapeutic riding instructor position is her hands down favorite, of anything she's ever worked.
What was their least favorite job that they’ve ever had?
Probably the modeling gig. No shade or shame to anyone who does it and loves it, because she's sure that it's a ton of fun, but it was not something that she was ever really comfortable with.
Growing up, what was their dream job?
Equestrian or professional ice skater. Baby Olivia was very, very ambitious and had some pretty big ideas about where she was going to go in her life.
What is their dream job now?
Professional mane braider.
Be honest – does your character enjoy their job?
Livvy finds true joy in the work that she does with the therapeutic riding program, and enjoys it thoroughly. She likes the healing and the work in physical therapy, but isn't quite sure she would say that she 'enjoys' it so much as she is good at it and does her best.
Does your character plan on retiring as soon as they can, or will they continue working?
She will probably work with the riding program as long as she possibly can, but would like to retire at a decent age from the physical therapy side of things.
Have they ever been fired from a job?
Nope!
Do they think that their job is rewarding?
Honestly, there are few things more rewarding than watching a man regain his ability to go running again after an injury, or to help a kid be able to use their broken hand to make Lego houses. And when it comes to the program, she thinks that it is by far the most rewarding thing that she has ever done with her life.

Breaking the continuum of PTSD
What breaks the continuim of the trauma response from the past? Peyote? Psycilocybin? Ketamine? Counseling? Reading about PTSD? Ibuprofen? Social Media? Alcohol? Heroin? Fentanyl? THC? Gambling? Promiscuous sex? Time?
I mentioned Ibuprofen because I’d recently read that it is considered for emotional pain. Pain, as it is recorded in the brain, does not distinguish between physical or emotional pain. The neural pathways, areas of the brain, that record physical pain are also activated from emotional pain. When I read that, I thought, “wow, I’m in luck,” and I went out and bought some. (Not really sure if it worked for me).
I mentioned Ketamine because I thought this would also emancipate me from my emotional pain caused by my PTSD. I cancelled a treatment when I realized that I’d be sitting in a room, by myself, on an IV drip,(administered by a Nurse Practitioner.) This was not how I wanted to experience it.
I mentioned Peyote and psilocybin because psychedelics have been helpful for me. I don’t recommend these because the “set” and the “setting” are very important factors to consider and realize first. It’s not for everyone. People metabolize drugs differently. If you go into a session depressed, sad, angry, etc. a psychedelic is not a magic carpet ride. Your guide needs to be present and intent of use needs to be in place. Timothy Leary initiated pioneering work in the field of using a psychedelic (LSD) for therapeutic use. He actually proved it to be the most effective method/process to reduce recidivism amongst repeat offenders in prisons. It worked. But during that time, the Medical Students at Harvard, who were experiencing and utilizing LSD in the clinical studies Leary was developing, started having too much fun with it, shared it with friends, andword got out. Leary was fired and his already successful program ended. (A curious note; At that time, only two professors had ever been dismissed (fired) from Harvard; Timothy Leary and Ralph Waldo Emerson. (The latter for not toting the ecclesiastical dictates of Harvard’s theology biases.) Read the first three chapters of Leary’s autobiography, Flashbacks. Instead of listening to Leary about how to reduce prisoner recidivism, instead the country just built bigger prisons. And 60 years later….more and bigger prisons.
Also, MDMA (ecstasy) have been absolutely proven to be therapeutically beneficial. I could write more about this but it is easier for the reader to google it, it’s benifits, and why it’s illegality impacts it’s use. It really is a shame, and stain against psychiatric treatment protocols in mainstream healthcare. Another issue is time; The session lasts too long for an HMO to justify it’s use. Time is money, after all.
All the other’s I mentioned are coping mechanisms that can get you through a dark and stormy night.

Unleashing the Thrill: The Joy of Horseback Riding
Horseback riding is not merely a recreational activity; it's an exhilarating journey that combines athleticism, nature, and a profound bond between human and horse. Whether you're a seasoned equestrian or a curious beginner, the experience of riding a horse offers a unique connection with these magnificent animals and the landscapes they traverse.
Embracing the Experience
At its essence, horseback riding is about more than just sitting atop a horse. It's about learning to communicate silently through gentle cues and body language, forging a partnership that transcends words. From the moment you mount the saddle, you enter into a dialogue with your horse—a dialogue of trust, respect, and understanding.
The Freedom of the Saddle
One of the most liberating aspects of horseback riding is the sense of freedom it provides. As you guide your horse along winding trails or open fields, you experience a profound connection with nature. The rhythmic beat of hooves on the ground becomes a soothing melody, grounding you in the present moment and allowing you to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Learning and Growing
For beginners, horseback riding offers a journey of learning and growth. It starts with understanding basic riding techniques—how to mount and dismount, how to hold the reins, and how to communicate effectively with your horse. With each lesson, riders gain confidence and skill, gradually mastering more advanced maneuvers and exploring new terrains.
Health Benefits
Beyond the emotional and spiritual benefits, horseback riding also contributes to physical well-being. It's a full-body workout that engages core muscles, improves balance and coordination, and enhances overall cardiovascular fitness. Riders develop better posture and muscle tone through the natural movements required to stay balanced in the saddle.
Connecting with Nature
Horseback riding allows you to immerse yourself in the natural world in a way that few other activities can. Whether you're navigating forest trails, crossing streams, or galloping along sandy beaches, you become attuned to the sights, sounds, and rhythms of the environment around you. It's an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature up close and experience moments of tranquility and awe.
Beyond the Ride
Horseback riding is not just about the act of riding itself; it's also about the broader equestrian community and culture. From competitions like dressage and show jumping to leisurely trail rides and therapeutic riding programs, there are endless avenues to explore within the world of equestrianism. Riders can connect with others who share their passion, attend events and clinics, and continually expand their knowledge and horsemanship skills.
Conclusion
In conclusion, horseback riding is a timeless pursuit that offers a blend of physical, emotional, and spiritual rewards. It's an activity that fosters a deep connection with nature, promotes personal growth, and cultivates a sense of partnership with horses. Whether you ride for pleasure, sport, or therapeutic reasons, the experience of horseback riding is bound to leave a lasting impression. So, saddle up, embrace the adventure, and discover the joy of riding—a journey that promises excitement, discovery, and a profound bond with our equine companions.
