Toon Zelda redesigns! I've never been fond of the Toon Zelda design, and these girls deserve some individuality. Design notes and rambles below the cut :D

(time to turn the proper grammar off i aint capitalizing all this. warning: i am verbose)

first up, tmc zelda!

shes the one most like toon zelda, since i felt like the vibes fit the *most* (though not a lot). also, with her place on the timeline, i could justify a lot of bits, like the wings and the cape

the cape! obvs it comes from the toon zelda base design, but also it involves skyloftian fashion! i take the timeline as a challenge, and i once saw a take somewhere that the skyloftians all wear their family crests (most often birds lol) on their person. zelda here (and link too) do just that, wearing their family crests on little caplets. on the back is, of course the royal crest

i went very cutesy princess for her. tmc has such a *whimsical* vibe that i feel is very. muted? by the fact its stuck with the toon style. so i wanted to put in that vibe here. also her sprites make it look like her skirt is super poofy, so how could i not?

curly hair: i wanted something interesting, and most zeldas have straight hair. so! adds to the cuteness

i didnt draw it so well but she (and link) both have very sleepy expressions. zelda especially just has a sleepy expression in her sprite, its quite adorable.

shes not as decked out as other princesses, cuz i see tmc taking place before the royal family really starts to get *royal* as we see it. shes still of course got a tiara and some embroidery tho.

Tetra! her base design isnt all that changed from the original. her name is a fun hc of mine tho. i think "von Hyrule" sounds better as a surname than just "hyrule". shes not zelda, but shes still a descendant.

(WW) princess z (as i call her)

I went more oot zelda vibes for her, since she would be closer, temporally, to oot. i also went very warm, since ive never seen the flood as a *warm* endeavor.

shes got the shoulder danglies, as most zeldas have shoulder armor of some kind. the danglies instead of actual armor are supposed to kind of evoke a royal sea captain kind of vibe.

shes ghostly, with a fish-eyed stare. shes been dead and gone for a long time. shes also a bit taller and a few years older than tetra (as of ww). shes just some spectre the king saw in tetra, not at all a close match

tetra, being smaller than princess z, doesnt fit into the clothes. the dress is too big for her (as is in canon gd that skirt is WAY too long for her), the coat is baggy. the role of a princess *literally* does not fit her.

the ribbons! theyre my replacement for the wings, and they represent the wind in the game! since its represented by white lines, the ribbons are a perfect symbolic match. (also, a note, tetras hair is shorter and coarser than princess z's)

i mostly bullshitted the blue panel but the vague idea i gave it was 'a hope for the triforce to give good fortunes to the people' (pictured as dots, mostly behind her arms)

Pirate Queen Tetra

ph! about a year has passed, and tetra has really grown into her own! as well as literally grown!

shes still tetra, pirate and captain, but shes incorporated that royal heritage into her identity: quite literally! she made piecemeal of the original outfit (what was left of it anyway after the fight), and added bits and pieces to her new life.

she also takes full advantage of said heritage to call herself pirate queen. its great for branding. whos gonna say she CANT go by pirate queen?

the seagull feather is from Aryll. only crew member tetra wears a trinket from (who can say no to that ball of sunshine! certainly not tetra)

not many notes. yall can see whats there. (also she still wears her hair in a bun, its just in a low bun (you can almost see it) when she wears her hat)

st zelda!

first note is: shes not a princess! shes an heiress of the company tetra had made and left behind. hence her title of Lady zelda. ("new hyrule" rly just like-- the ending of ww was *literally* that hyrule is dead and thats okay. how did they miss that :sob emoji:) also calling her Lady Zelda fits with the train vibes

shes in a 1880s style bustle dress because 1) i am OBSESSED with bustle dresses. i love them. so much. 2) the more historical vibe works really well with trains! also a lot of the other outfits in the game have late victorian vibes, so shes certainly not out of place.

her hat (and gloves): any proper lady has a hat on when going about town, however, when she gets body snatched, she pulled out her hatpin to use (ineffectively) as a weapon (she IS tetras great-great-granddaughter), causing her to lose her hat *and* hairdo.

shes still got the hatpin in her ghost form, too. she uses it to threaten people for funsies

Ribbons! on the topic of hairdo, her ribbons! visually tying her to tetras design, the ribbons here instead take on the image of train tracks, with her pin (on the left side) evoking a train engine. the pin also makes her look rich and girly. when her hair comes undone, this makes the ribbons all loose, like how the train tracks disappear in game. (the hat also kinda connects her to tetra)

Tbh ,, ive only given Allure (my lambs name) a fleece just because i didnt really have time to put them in an outfit i wanted them to wear

Ive sorta used allure as the one i project onto the most compared to my other lambs, so that included like how they look compared to my family for example or rlly just hcs

And ik this is literally JUST a cult game that i shouldnt take too srs-- but i relate to allure in some stances from how i plan out their story and why they act the way they do (really just an anxiety ridden person but is better at masking, so they usually come off as more energetic and ambiverted for example)

But now continuing onto what i wanted for them to wear from a few months ago!! Normally i always draw them wearing like. The red fleece ? But thats entirely it

I always want to draw a better outfit for them, such as . Hm,,, idk how to describe in english

(OMFG. Sorry i wrote so much ill put the infodump below the cut HELP)

Allure's gender has always been complicated for them, hx's identified with many labels-- being intersex can be tough because not only did/do they struggle with how they perceive themself, but how others perceive hxm. It never mattered living in hxs old village as a little lamb. When hx got captured with hxs mother by the followers of the old faith, that's where hx did face more intersexism,,, lambs were considered more and more "rare" as a species as the next 50 years went on, including going into hiding with their mother for fifteen years. They were forced to comply to the old faith's followers standards, even being disrespected at the moment of death when they got executed. So, why does being intersex sorta just tie everything together for them? Well growing up, i never had too many intersex resources myself, but still dehumanized by my peers—i projected that onto Allure to feel,, less lonely ?

I changed their labels to be transneufemmasc, because that's where their transition sorta ties down into, if that makes sense? Im transandrofem/transneufem, i always had a connection to feminity, yet androgny still has some close ties to me. For Allure, they never really had many problems growing up, everyone sorta just called them a bit of both. A boy, a girl, a person-- just a lamb-- they werent seen as much else. They were ,, normal ,,, their village had few lambs just like them, and it was highly respected and viewed as a sign of god on how rare a condition of theirs can be seen something so beautiful (again im unsure how to translate that into english, think of it as a gender affirming thingy)

I use they/hxm for Allure because hx/hxm ties in with their transition more as well. The 'x' in the pronouns are usually for intersex prns ,, Allure was misgendered more while in captured, referred to as a 'thing' or an 'it' (along with the h word :'-3 just cuz ive been called it and that was apart of their 'dehumanization' as a lamb in the 1500s)

After 400 years (so itd be 1900s), i like to believe they settled on a label, even when gender is constantly flowing and changing, they figured out a lot,, despite being at war with the bishops but 😭 lamdoakdjw allure was like "im prolly nonbinary but i have a job so idrc about that rn" (they always were nonbinary BUT YKWIM,,)

Relating to their clothes now. YIPPEE. They had always worn a mixture of clothing pieces, when belonging to different genders, so for example they would typically wear silver jewelry wayyy back then (which was typically for female lambs) and they wore jubba and sirwal (just long sleeve undergarment and baggy trousers) with having tatriz embroidered sometimes... as in the dresses with tatriz embroidery on them, they never really minded the types of clothing they chose and that their mother chose for them

They often wore trousers though and a long sleeve white shirt out of silk :--) with lavandi. Allures mother would do henna for their hands, along with many other family members—they had a huge family before everything happened,,, another comparable thing to my history where my family used to be big enough until it became a smaller number ,,, i like to believe Allure wrote down old traditions to never forget, hopefully having more lambs to carry on their legacy (as they eventually "retire" because it became difficult to run a cult when your emotions were all over the place for mourning your beloved family members, especially the new found family you create, having all of them die in 100 years) (so rlly that just left Narinder all on his own)

The ideas ive had though for putting together their outfit? As a current cult leader ? It would be something like a black top (with those shoulder things at the side of their arms if that makes sense), a corset OR a lavandi (indescive still), and having specifically dark brown trousers that would go up to their knees ,,, they would have bandages wrapped around their shins, along with their wrists

+ when they reside in their cult for a few days to take care of cult matters, papers, sermons, etc, i like to imagine thats when they wear their "fleece" (much rather like a shall instead) and an embroidery dress of tatriz they took time to make themself :--) they took possibly a few months to make it given their lack of resources, but after beginning their journey to silk cradle they had better access to silk-- making outfits for their followers and themself as well,, which would include the shall and tatriz dress ,,

For their choker/collar thing , thats where they remove the bell when going on crusades, to focus better on their objective. When residing (verbatim) to rest in the cult, thats when they put back on the bell. Sometimes it would also be a red pentacle theyd attach to the black collar :> they definitely continued their tradition of wearing silver jewelry, until they discovered Midas' Cave (....dont tell anyone i said this but they robbed Midas back GREATLY. lamb was charitable, yes, but this fucker kept robbing allure-- how else were they meant to respond to that 🙂🙂🙂)

But yes lol,,, if Allure were human they would be Arab if that wasnt obvious enough 🫶🫶🫶 i love them very much and i love the past few months ive been building their character. Im happy to continue this self indulgency and build them more, self projection has always been such a comfort for me ,, so i have fun doing that for Allure

OO PLUS PLUS !!!!! Allures name was never Allure to begin with. that's the thing fsjjwjfn,,, hxs mother gave hxm a new name to live on a happy life and to never forget her. Hx absolutely hated that and never wanted to change hxs name, but by now for the past 300 years he forgot about his original birth name. Allure did this just for their mother. They still mourn her everyday, even when hx's too mentally or physically tired to. Even as the god of death themself, they pray to their mother the most, always wishing safety for her

Their mothers name was Zainab,,, the A name vs the Z name is rlly important despite it being such a small detail ,,, allure is the last lamb to live in this world--while zainab had been the very few lambs left ,,, holding her child close and kissing allures forehead before she complied to getting beheaded right in front of the bishops ,,, Just like how Allure was

Ok thats all i can think of i just wanted to infodump for my lamb HESNFHSFN theyre based off of my first save (that i did 100% and am on day 403 there :>)

okay im gonna type up my hadestown costume ideas bc why the heck not hope u enjoy x feel free to share yours/add on if you want.

note: in my production orpheus is female for Reasons (also hades could also be a girl i dont think it rly matter for what i suggest)

overall my vibes are more ~fantasy~ but still grounded in reality ??

Hades: honestly the vibes from the bway costume are great love it and the suit. especially the wall tattoo im stealing that. i do however want more red incorporated for like,, colour analysis reasons bc im a whore for colours that have meaning. have some photos for an idea (the last is my fave i think):

also with that i found this walking stick thing that feels quintessential hades so here that too (along with a cape that i think he should wear during his entrance bc parallels later ig?

overall: similar to the bway costume but more fantastical in a vampirey way?

Persephone: okay for the most part i was just seeing pretty dresses with florals and sticking them in her board. but they all have the same vibe which i still think i would like. also her colour is still green (complimentary colour to red). have some pictures:

and then at some point i got a GREAT idea. but i dont know how to implement it exactly yet. okay so similar to how broadway has a green and then black costume for the different acts; in the first act her skirt is more ballgown-y and poofy which should resemble flower petals in bloom (possibly more structured so its obvious unlike the more flowy dresses i showed although i think the ideas would still be seen with the skirts above) and then in act 2 the dress is much more slim-fitting against her body so it looks like the flower petals have wilted and are clinging to her body?? does that make sense?? i love it anyway.

overall: more fairy-queen whimsical vibes than broadway and a lot more emphasis on floral details.

Orpheus: okay i dont know why but i get major farmery/cottagecore vibes from orpheus like they just wanna vibe to music and forget about the real world?? so naturally i wanted to get those vibes. i wanted it to have similar vibes to bway with the white shirt and suspender type look so heres some pictures i found:

orpheus’ colour is that ochre yellow (similar colour family to persephone -> shared values). i liked the idea of the apron too (same as bway) but yknow,, cuter. i also wanted more details on the shirt so i liked the flowery embroidery details (on both the shirt and shoes) to really tie orpheus to the overworld. i did however want orpheus to have a cape when they go into the underworld bc i feel like thats what all fantasy adventurers do when they ~adventure~. so i was looking at capes until i found one that i think went with what i imagined for the dress.

the first cape is what i originally imagined but thought that it was almost too big and thick for orpheus so then i found the one on the right which i LOVE as its shorter and lighter and goes better with the dress underneath which is similar to the ones i showed at the beginning. (also there could be some analysis between hades and orpheus about how hades’ cloak covers his whole body as if hes hiding himself whilst orpheus’ still makes them look vulnerable especially as they both wear the cloak in the world theyre not familiar with.)

bonus costumes: the guitar!! i found some rly cute guitars which i love the idea of orpheus having a doodled guitar especially with motifs found within the show: 

pretty tree/floral/naturey designs !! you get what im putting down.

overall: cottagecore orpheus is what we deserve

Eurydice: okay eurydice was hardest all i knew is that her colour would be a dark purple (complimentary to yellow and similar to red). at first i was think more london eurydice with jeans or overalls because i knew i wanted her in trousers. but i thought this made her look too pedestrian in compared to the others (idk mayb that would work considering theyre gods and shes,, not?) i didnt entirely like it so went to the fantasy drawing board and found these (but pretend theyre shades of purple): 

i like that they like theyre made out of materials found on hand and just thrown together for warmth but they also look agile as hell which is good for eurydice imo as i see her as a lil pickpocket just tryna get by. so something similar to this. i think i would keep the act 2 worker outfit pretty much the same, especially if we remove any hints of colours (espc purple) to remove any identity similar to what bway does already.

also bonus accessories:

still boot wearing but more steampunky? possibly still with some natural elements but more about the moon/sun rather than flowers, i cant quite explain but to me they give of different meanings?? idk. also the CUTEST pouch that resembles a flower which would be the only thing resembling a flower. like she would associated orpheus with the flower but she also has this other association between money and a flower so its like theyre her two major conflicts and theyre assoicated with the flower idk man i think u understand what im getting at.

overall: steampunk/fantasy thief vibes

flower/leaf umbrellas !! yknow like in way down?? its cute thats all (dont think they close tho but we can work it out its not as if im actually making them.

So i finished assignment b! I kinda cheated a little, cause it was hard to narrow down, so seven pictures, five outfits and my favourite coat of all time (the lovely navy piece).

Notes: fan bing bing is my all time style lady, she’s never worn something i didnt like. The sexy black outfit is something i really like, but confidence would fail me.

This is a good spread! Here are my first impressions:

things you like

a structured waist: almost every one of these pictures features either a cinched waist (belted or buttoned), or a built-in flare at the hips, which draws the eye to the narrowest part of your body. you’re in luck, because corset belts and gently cinched waists are super in right now. 

volume in skirts: yes you have two pencil skirts here, but the dresses/coats all have a lot of drape or (again) flare beneath the waist. you like a little romance in your skirts, so go for skirts that have ruffles, or a fun train. drama drama!

cutouts and delicate, eye-catching detail: both the coats are dripping with little touches. you have draped chains, tiny buttons, large folded cuffs, embroidery. in short, minimalism isn’t your thing, and to that I say: go with it! you want military style jackets? buy one. you want the high-necked, romantic look? buy that too. I think you’re maybe a little hesitant to turn heads, and that’s understandable, seeing as how you’re getting used to the changes in your body. but my fashion philosophy is always to get the thing. here is a $200 jacket that is exactly what you want. a little steep? sure, but it’ll be cut to your body, and will last you ages. 

Fan Bing Bing favors color and sweeping drama on the red carpet, but her casual clothing is cut generously and plays with patterns. Patterns are an easy way to take risks, and I recommend you ignore all style rules about which bodies can wear which patterns. Here is tiny beautiful Fan Bing Bing in a striped coat. It’s such a statement piece that it would look just as striking on someone much less tiny. 

The leather jacket/burgundy skirt combo is a straight outfit suggestion. You like that? Wear that. Change nothing. Those are beautiful, basic pieces that can be mixed and matched all over your wardrobe. But let’s indulge your love of interesting, cinched waists and throw a decorative belt on under the jacket. 

The black sexpot outfit is super helpful to me, even if you don’t feel ready to wear something quite so seductive. I would suggest investing in either a cheaper dupe of the skirt or the bodysuit, and wear them with items you feel more comfortable with. Part of having a curvy body is that you suddenly look Very Sexy in clothes that another version of you might have been able to handwave away. Also, when investing in sexy clothing, make sure it fits properly; nothing kills your confidence like having to tug and adjust yourself every two seconds. (the skirt she is wearing in the picture is too small for her - note the rippling of the satin at the broadest part of her hips. sitting down in that thing is probably a bitch and a half) 

Last note: when it comes to things like the white dress, things that would be impractical, ask yourself what it is, exactly, you like about it. The bared shoulders? The huge draping? Both those styles are everywhere right now. You have to isolate the specifics of what you’re responding to in high fashion, and take it to street level. 

When your body has changed, it’s important to try everything. You don’t know what you like yet, and you don’t know what looks good. I hope my guidance makes it a little easier!
