Here is the koi fish au I kinda typed up?
Pros to nothliting as koi:
1. CONTAINMENT - the yeerk and taxxon population becomes an inert non threat. Koi are basically powerless against humans, and it's not like they could manipulate people cuz what can Koi Esplin offer? And the greatest advantage is we can keep an eye on every single nothlit, because Koi Can't Escape, especially if we keep them in, like, Nevada or Siberia or something.
2. FAMILIAR but UPGRADED environment - a koi pond or an aquarium can be beautiful spaces. Much like a yeerk pool, yeerks natural environment, a koi pond or aquarium can house potentially hundreds of koi, and multiple can be hooked together. They could swim around, thought-speak, take visitors, even read books and use computers (depending on security level). It's a straight upgrade too, because koi experience all 5 senses and pass the mirror test, so even if you're just going from the yeerk pool to the koi pond directly, it's way better than being a yeerk OR a taxxon OR Any Wild Animal
3. COMMUNITY - yeerks, taxxons could live in community together. Humans would definitely bond with yeerks if the aquariums were visitable. Humanity is scarred by the yeerk invasion, but I believe that we could have a path forwards with our new Koi friends. Imagine this (https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/s/fdDEsPmZku) but giant talking goldfish are you kidding me??? I would go every day to talk to my new fish friends. Koi can also live long and fulfilling lives, unlike most wild animals.
4. Anaconda plan flaws - it wasn't clear to me why the yeerks were allowed to turn into apex predators and roam free in the first place. Seems. Likely that you'd get, oh idk, some renegade guerrilla warrior anacondas mixed in with the rest. Maybe even some who saw from precedence a whole bunch can be. If it wasn't completely clear by now, I completely disagree with Cassie on the amazon idea. You can't just loose a bunch of snakes in the amazon! You have no way of controlling the outcomes there. And nobody seems to be considering that they're all going to starve in a few months (sciencedirect com/topics/earth-and-planetary-sciences/lotka-volterra-model). Why not put them in a zoo? Or y'know. A koi pond.
*john hammond voice* Somewhere where we have a bit more control
This is amazing and I love it.

Community Activities in Narre Warren South
Community activities Narre Warren South are a great way to keep kids active and engaged. These include music programs that improve self regulation and memory, and Peaceful Kids, a mindfulness and positive psychology program.
Keen fisherman will love the recent trout stocking of Berwick Springs Lake, a tranquil setting within a suburban township. The reserve also features a number of ornamental lakes and wetlands.
Berwick Springs Park
The huge and scenic Berwick Springs Reserve is hidden away from the busy Clyde Road congestion. The wetlands run right across the middle of this large estate making it perfect for an afternoon stroll or 5km run, or for a family picnic. The lake along Berwick Springs Promenade is especially lovely and on sunny afternoons ducks and birds flock to it. There are plenty of benches around the lake and on summer days the water fountain turns on and sprays a cooling mist over you as you walk by.
There are also two fenced playgrounds, one at the northern end near Berwick Springs Promenade and the other closer to the centre of the park at Moondarra Drive. Both have slides, ladders, monkey bars, a tunnel, climbing net and a curved set of variable height stepping stones. There are also swings, including one for toddlers. The area is popular so on weekends and holidays you can expect to see lots of like-minded families.
Berwick Springs Wetland Reserve
Tucked away from Clyde Road, this huge reserve is a quiet spot to enjoy the outdoors. The wetlands span across the entire estate making this a perfect spot for an afternoon stroll, a 5km run or a picnic. There are multiple different paths which are all bike and pram friendly, allowing you to wander at your own pace.
There are a number of benches overlooking the lake's central lake where ducks and birds flock on sunny afternoons. There is also a large archway covered in lush greenery which makes an impressive entrance from Berwick Springs Promenade on the western end of the park.
The reserve has a small sand beach at the entry along with a jetty jutting out over the lake. During my visit I was delighted to see a pair of black swans lingering by the sand and water. The park has a number of circular fenced platforms overhanging the lakes along Moondarra Drive where you can sit and relax.
Casey Central Park
The park is a beautiful location for families and has something for everyone, no matter the time of year. Visitors can explore popular attractions on guided horse-and-carriage, bike, running and fitness tours, have a picnic, play on the playgrounds, visit Central Park Zoo or swim in the pool. There are also a number of sports and recreational activities available, including a skating rink and yoga classes.
The new community recreation park will expand the range of outdoor recreational opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. It will complement existing facilities in Casey, as well as broader Gungahlin and Canberra region recreation areas. Feedback from the community and stakeholders was sought on the indicative designs for the park ahead of construction commencing in 2023.
Parking is free and conveniently located on one level. There are almost 1400 spaces, including disabled and parents with prams parking. There are also numerous taxi ranks throughout the centre, including outside Blooms The Chemist.
Narre Warren South Tennis Club
The Narre Warren South Tennis Club is a great place for kids to stay active during school holidays. There are a variety of activities and lessons available for kids of all ages. The club also offers a range of competitive leagues and tournaments. Its members regularly compete in BDTA and WDTA competitions. The club also houses Millennium Tennis Academy, which provides professional coaching services for adults and children.
Getting to Berwick Springs Park is easy with Moovit. Moovit’s all-in-one app gives you fast and accurate step-by-step directions from any transit station to your destination. Over 1.5 million users, including locals from Narre Warren South, trust Moovit for their public transit needs. Try it for free!

Sling Set 7, June 20X6
Claire de Flume
Our summer trip for all the zoomates in Central Park Zoo to Hori-Zones indoor water park hit a flat in the bus dept, all the tires!
The weatherwoman Absol almost Wilded out undressing herself in the news station when her forecast called for extreme heat, 115°F!
Every furry critter got popcorned with their fur fuzzed and stewing in their sweat, and the arctic ones were stocking ice as if the World was melting! Even the reptiles panicked cuz of all that sun and multiple moltings!
WE NEEDED OUR POOLTIME!
😮💡
Wait…Didn’t Gene n I use that outdoor tub on the Stuyvesant girl when some imp possessed her & her can gal Tina? filled it with enough salt n sand to make a beach n lure a rabid raccoon w/ a naked mongoose cashier lady, demon b gone! Tonia’s got plenty water fun stuff for the dogs she trains at her obedience classes, and that slide her dad gave her for the playground cud b an attraction at the zoo, plus maybe the Arises could spare a few giant ice blocks for our makeshift ACs in holed-out coolers from the frisbee dudes visiting from Brooklyn! We still owe that mongoose 4 the striptease bait, we’ll offer a go at our exclusive Park Zoo waterpark rides no charge? If Alice lets us, that is. She was happy to oblige mostly cuz her makeup wuz running, and some inhabitants were willing to make their spaces into attractions and pools with some summer gear of their own!
Then it’s settled: one Gimungo Water Park at CPZ for the whole damn summer, all residents n tourists looking for cool welcome!
2 weeks time, the grand opening of Central Air Water Park Zoo was in full swing! It wasnt Hori-Zones, but we pulled off wut we could with the junk from neighbors’ garages and the shed. Got the firefighters and mayor in on the action, securing permits to connect hoses to the hydrants and into the zoo’s main water system. And we made sure to direct those hottest of dogs to the chillest parts of the zoo, mainly the Polar Bear & Penguin habitats, but we added saunas in the desert and rainforest habitats for the tanners and steamers. Shame we had to charge $10 or $20 on All day passes for our guests, but 2-4 single scoop cones from a malt shoppe per guest/group wud b enough charity to pay for new bus tires after tarring on the blacktop!
While ringtail Gene ran the cashbox by the main gate, Matt & I played lifeguards with his dog cop buddies, thanks of officer Francine Doberman’s training, when she busted some fairground robbers at Coney Island last summer. Wigless, too: she didn’t want her hairpiece ruined by all that chlorine. And had to keep the gulpin poking out her bellybutton, Gulliver, from drinking “stew water” or it digested some unpleasing meat. I was keeping a sharp eye on Fenneko. My coworker was in heat looking to hook up “swim buddies” , like the two bros with their frisbee matches. I needed to make sure she didn’t try tasting their beef when she’s steaming!
Two hours into the Big Summer Chill-a-Thon, I seem to have lost one ringtail cat. Last I heard, Gene left the admission box to a Guagsire that also sold ice cream for the young guests. This one hippo lady, far too young to be in her golden years, haggled an orange sherbet cream pop as an entry fee for $15. The slimy blue newt took the twofer, but didn’t suck in the refreshing relief in its mouth just yet, rather it smeared it on its steaming forehead before biting into it! Not enough dough or a favor from this grueling heat, she made a bargain on that fee!
No wait, that’s Greta Dee, the sweet-loving elderly woman down in Hell’s Kitchen! Moved to New York from London five months back, set up her family’s candy store, Dee’s Luscious Sweet Shoppe, in the most rotten part of the Big Apple! Can’t b safe for any kid or adult geting their goodies and not b unalived by a crook!
I heard thru the grapvine that delectable granny was a witch of sorts with her assorted candies, not only did she smooth out her wrinkles & fat to a fetching pear shape, the sweets in her shoppe seem irresistable to not buy. That or, like in Hansel & Gretel, she was luring unwiting victims to make her goodies with animal sacrifices or sum sh!t
I’m in no mood for urban legends out of fairytales, not like I had enough urban fantasy adventures in my life without the ringtail going off on his A-side story. I got a needless b-plot as temporary lifeguard saving some unwiting college broskis from getting STDs from my horny-ass coworker. With her tiny size, she’ll play Lost Preschooler and get those meatheads on the arctic river floe by the Polar Bears virtual glacier!

...you have opened my eyes to a vast universe of VintageBeef lore that I was unaware of. I knew about the New Hermit Order, of course, and the UHC invention, and I've watched a few of his CTM things but -- I will take all the info and lore you feel like giving out because Beef is amazing and my knowledge is so small.
Vintagebeef my beloved <3
So the thing is, right, until about 2016 I only watched two (2) youtubers- Vintagebeef for Minecraft and aDrive for Pokemon (and funnily enough both of them are named Dan irl). So I've watched most of Beef's videos over the years and have a general knowledge of most of his stuff, except because it's been like a decade I don't remember where most of the lore comes from XD
The thing with him is that he doesn't do Lore tm the way other mcyters often do lore- he doesn't have an extensive RP series to draw from like Grian, doesn't have a solo world with steadily increasing amounts of lore like Etho or Zisteau, and while he's played on SMPs and been involved in storylines before it's not really the focus of his episodes unlike with Evo or Legacy or Empires
So where does that leave us?
IRL, Beef always has multiple series running at the same time. Often he's playing on an smp while doing a singleplayer, often modded, series as well as a CTM or modpack with a group of friends. For example, right now he's playing on Hermitcraft, doing weekly Pixelmon and Building a Zoo episodes, and a CTM map with Slip. And to me, this translates to one thing: Beef is an adventurer. He travels frequently- he explores a world and when he decides he's done, he leaves for the next one. That's the basis of my personal interpretation of his series and his character for my writing.
Ok so reading this back, this got extremely long and didn't explain much in the way of lore, somehow? If anyone has any additions to add please do so, I am very definitely leaving out a lot and would love to see what other lore people remember and are using for Beef! I didn’t include the Hermitcraft stuff since my memory of season 4 is blurry (his base was themed after the Martian, that much I know, and he and Iskall were buddies :D) and most of the s5 NHO lore is best watched from Bdub’s perspective from what I remember, and the only s6 stuff is a single line in Hermitgang and then the Area 77 arc with its possibility of an NHO reunion which we did not get rip. And s7 of course had the cloning machine and also the Podzol Party as the main lore. So all the original rambling is still below the cut though it is very long, and I'm gonna bullet point the main stuff here instead:
Actual canonical things:
Invented UHC and was the only survivor of the first ever uhc (Mindcrack UHC s1)
Married to an ender dragon (one of the UHCs I think), later father to a different dragon (Mindcrack season 3? I think?)
Might not have legs if you choose to take that joke as canon (Mindcrack s2)
Was a wizard (RAD)
is a zookeeper (Building a Zoo)
Had a wife and kids (Sims in Minecraft)
Part of the Trial of the B Team court case (Mindcrack)
NHO founder, founder of the Podzol Party (Hermitcraft)
Created a cloning machine that sort of works (Hermitcraft)
Played the Forest which is I believe the first time he and Keralis played together (look up the trigger warnings for this one, it's a horror game)
Was the creator/owner of Sourceblock SMP (featuring some familiar faces if you know Legacy, Empires, or MCC) and there is literal magic from a mysterious sourceblock of water that teleports people and summons mobs and probably more stuff that I haven't seen yet since I'm still watching it myself
Things you can infer:
Good with animals (Life in the Woods, Pixelmon, Ark)
Is a car nerd (irl and all of the car games he's played)
Is a highly experienced adventurer who has traveled through dozens of worlds both vanilla and modded, across multiple dimensions (Twilight Forest, the Aether, the Betweenlands, Limbo), completed dozens of monuments, fought in blood sports, survived apocalypse after apocalypse, tamed dinosaurs, and played a lot of prop hunt and golf with your friends
If you're looking for what to watch for lore purposes, I'd say the Mindcrack UHCs and Team Canada's RAD series are pretty good, definitely Sourceblock and HC s5, plus the Diversity CTM maps and Ruins of the Mindcrackers maybe? And Mindcrack Prank Wars for the chaos and the origin of Team Canada. And if you can handle horror than the Forest is fun and if you don't do horror you can watch the Pojkband play golf or prop hunt they're hilarious I love them sm I want a Pojkband reunion So Bad
Beef's first series was a singleplayer series in beta 1.4_01 though he had played the game extensively before that, and was a big fan of Guude, having watched his own Minecraft videos. The series was functionally a hardcore one where if he died Beef would delete the world and start again! I haven't actually Watched this series so idk if he died or how often lmao. When Guude made Mindcrack, which was btw one of the very first Minecraft SMPs, he also hosted a competition for people to join, and Beef submitted a video (which is still viewable on his channel I believe!) and won, and was added to Mindcrack in season 2 :D (fun fact, Guude said that even if Beef hadn’t won he would have added him anyway)
Two running jokes emerged from Mindcrack- pulling a Vintagebeef and Beef doesn't have legs. The first is a reference to Beef dying of fall damage (I believe the exact instance was him trying to jump into his swimming pool and failing spectacularly) and after the incident, every time someone died of fall damage they were pulling a Vintagebeef. The second joke comes from Guude, who joked that the reason Beef wasn't going to a convention was because he didn't have legs, and then he pranked Beef's base by building a giant pair of legs at the entrance to his castle so you had to walk between them to get into the base. This joke has long since died and both Beef and Guude feel pretty bad about it iirc because there were people who genuinely thought Beef was disabled and were emailing him supportive messages and stuff oops. So if you go looking on the Salad or find old Mindcrack fics, you might see references to Beef having prosthetic legs!
Mindcrack also brought about the creation of several Player groups- Team Nancy Drew, Team Canada, and GOB to name a few relevant to Beef. Team Nancy Drew consists of Beef, Pauseunpause, Guude, and Baj, who formed to investigate a prank on one of the members but I forget who. They're named Nancy Drew after the detective! Team Canada also formed in retaliation to pranks, with it consisting of Beef, Etho, and Pause, the three Canadian members on the server (not including Adlington who moved to Canada but never joined the group). There was also a Team America who pranked them with American flags everywhere. GOB is Guude, OMGChad, and Beef, who played stuff like the Ragecraft, Pantheon, and Monstrosity ctms together but that's way down the line lol
Team Nancy Drew is also notable for inventing UHC. It was Beef's brainchild but it was the four of them who first played it! The first UHC had the four of them working to kill the dragon with no natural regen, with everyone dying but Beef, who "won" the UHC. The second uhc was still dragon focused and iirc is where Beef married the dragon? Memories are hazy but they do kill the dragon in this one I think. UHC was then revamped as a pvp event and became a regular Mindcrack game every few months, featuring most of the Mindcrackers and several special guests, including Dinnerbone, who as we know Thanos-snapped Doc's arm out of existence as a result of Doc killing him in one of them
In one of the seasons of Mindcrack, Beef invited swedish Mindcracker and good friend Anderzel to go caving with him and invented ABBA Rules caving, where the winner takes it all. ABBA Rules is a game where each ore (and also dungeon loot like nametags) is assigned a point value and the person with the most points at the end wins and gets to keep all the stuff collected from the game.
In Mindcrack season 3?, Beef punched the ender dragon in an... awkward area, so when the dragon died and left the egg behind, Guude said Beef was the father of the egg XD I don't remember if I watched s3 so I have no idea if anything Happened with this concept but *history of the world voice* you could make lore out of this!
So Team Canada has played a Lot of CTM maps (which fun fact were pretty much invented by another Mindcrack member, Vechs, with his Super Hostile series! Super Hostile has a bunch of things called "Zistonian", which are references to another Mindcrack member Zisteau, who has a very wild singleplayer series with even wilder lore but I digress). In Ruins of the Mindcrackers, they had a running joke that Beef was Etho and Pause's mom, which is a joke we can leave in the past actually /lh. They also played all the Diversity maps, Sky Factory, Terra Restore, Uncharted Territory uhhh and a couple more ctms and adventure maps! Each map kinda has its own story so in Diversity 3 for example they were trapped in a simulation? I think? Team Canada also recently played the Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons modpack, aka RAD, in which Beef was a wizard with a magic staff that could do anything from summon lightning to control hostile mobs.
Sourceblock SMP is a vanilla survival 1.14 series that ran for one season and the series starts with each of the Players being drawn to a strange sparkling water source that, once they touch it, brings them to the Sourceblock world. It also summons a giant zombie at one point. There's probably more lore for this series but like I said I haven't watched it all the way through yet
He has a Patreon server called VintageCraft and has done a series or two on there as well, and played a few UHCs with them, so lore that how you will!
Beef also played a few popular mods, notably Pixelmon, Life in the Woods, and Feed the Beast, with LitW being singleplayer and the other multiplayer. He's also recently played the Zoo and Wild Animals mod a lot. He did a short series with the Minecraft Comes Alive mod where he married one of the villagers and had two children, so that's canon now :D he’s played a Lot of Pixelmon starting when the mod first came out iirc (he chose Turtwig in his first series and built a Grass gym, then made a Normal gym in another series in uhh 2016) and he still plays to this day. Quite a few Hermits played on his Pixelmon servers with him, like Wels, Etho, Iskall, Stress, Slip, Zueljin, and also Guude and Phedran (a Mindcrack adjacent player and creator of the LitW modpack) and a few Mindcrackers on the older servers
Mindcrack and friends played a lot of other games too- 7 Days to Die, Ark Survival Evolved, Unturned, to name a few, so you can pull a lot of lore out of these as well. Speaking of friends and non-Minecraft games, Beef teamed up with Pause, Keralis, and Slip (a former Hermit) to play the horror game the Forest, which saw them stuck on an island trying to survive against terrifying mutated human... things. They played it a few times as the game updated but as afaik it's the first time Beef played with Keralis and possibly Slip and since the game starts with the Player's airplane crashing, that could totally be how Beef first met them in-universe
I... think? that’s everything I mentioned in the tags? There is probably way more stuff I’ve forgotten that stems from inside jokes and things that happen within each series, but I hope that was a) helpful and b) at least somewhat comprehensible lmao

The green heart of Budapest, Margareth Island Margaret Island is a 225-acre spit of silt that bubbled up eons ago on the Danube River in the middle of what is now Budapest, the Hungarian capital. Called Margit-sziget in Hungarian, it is named after Margit, the beautiful daughter of a 13th century king, Bela IV. The island is shaped like an art nouveau teardrop, an emerald jewel set in a river bordered on either side by the bustling city. Among the island’s century-old oaks and poplars are the ruins of a Dominican convent where the princess lived. Margit—known to the world as St. Margaret of Hungary—became a legend here, beloved and pitied. She was offered to God by his father, after the mongols’s imvasion, when Hungary was almost totally devastated. Margit was just 28 when she passed away. Her grave is inside the ruined walls of the monastery. The other monastery of Margaret Island belonged to the Hungarian Templars, before went into the posession of the Franciscan order. Next to them stands the St. Michael chapel, a popular wedding place today. Margaret Island became a public park in the 19th century. When thermal spring was found on the island, the Grand Hotel Thermal – a famous hotel of the capital – was built by the design of Miklós Ybl. The island gives home today to sport facilities too: to the Palatinus beach, to tennis courts and to the Hajós Alfréd Swimming Pool, where the multiple olimpic and world champion water polo team of Hungary used to train, and which serve as scenes of international tournaments and championships. Margaret Island’s other notable sights are the Japanese garden and fishpond, botanical gardens, the still operating Music Well and Fountain from the 19th century,a tiny zoo, and the art nouveau style, 57 m high Water Tower, which is a protected UNESCO site. On summer time there are open air concert, operas and shows are held also on the island’s open air theater. The Musical Fountain is one of the most well known attractions on the island. The fountain’s pool is quite large – one of Europe’s largest – at 35 m across and containing 400 m³ of water. At showtime, the water shoots 10m into the air in time with the music, a mixture of classical and pop music, and the plumes of water and water vapour are illuminated by alternating coloureds lights at night, so it’s hard to miss when its performing. The 5,5 km long jogging trail around Margaret Island has everything that a great running route needs: a scenic, shaded, waterside trail around a popular park, with views across the Danube. The whole island is a protected pedestrian zone, no car allowed in. The buses operating are electric, and people can hire bike oor riksha too. To have picnicm or just relaxing on the lawns are allowed on the whole island. Seating plan au part 7
Sins the last update had quite a bit of Adrian/felix drama I decided this update would show more of the gangs (Mari, Felix, Alix, Kim, Max and luka) friendship because I love them
link to part 6
Marinette doodles a lot in class, she has a little notepad full of em, sometimes when the class is going mad Mari and Felix draw little cartoons of the stupidity...Felix has a few masterpieces in said notepad of Chloe and Lila yelling at each other
Felix getting a weeks detention because of an “incident” at lunch *cough cough* Lila *cough* Marinette was in the art room helping Nathaniel and marc with a project and max was outside filming Alix teach Kim some skating tricks so Felix was reading in the lunchroom alone...and sins this was a rare Occurrence Lila jumped at the opportunity “Adrian you should go ask Felix to sit with us, he’s all by himself, you don’t want to leave him all alone do you?” So obviously Adrian being Adrian smiles and get up to ask Felix who just says he’s happy alone, Lila expecting this response says “well I’m gonna go sit with him” so she waltzes over and sits next to him “hey Felix, I couldn’t bear seeing you over here all alone, I know we haven’t been the best of friends and that hurts me deeply felix, so so much, so I thought I’d come over to make a fresh start” Felix give her an emotionless look and says “no thanks” Lila- “excuse me?” Felix-“I don’t need a friend like you” genuinely shocked Lila quickly puts on a fake hurt face “did I do something to hurt you? I genuinely don’t understand why you hate me so much, Felix? Everyone else in the class is so nice to me apart from you, what did I do?” “I just don’t like compulsive liars lie-la, now if you don’t mind I’d like to get back to my book in peace” annoyed Lila snaps “well then if you don’t wanna be my friend I guess that makes you my enemy *cue Evil smirk* wich probably Make your precious Marinette my enemy too...Doesn't it” Felix looks up with a murderous glare “leave Marinette out of this” Lila just laughed all fake nice “leave her out of what Felix? Where just talking” Felix gets up slamming his food tray down and spilling his drink all over Lila “you don’t even look at Marinette, if you even breath in her direction we really will have a problem” then he leaves and Lila tells everyone she was just talking about classwork and trying to cheer him up because he seemed down when Felix flipped out and threw his drink in her...so Felix got detention, once Mari heard about everything she was ready to throw hands
After the whole detention mess Alix convinces Marinette they should get payback on lila for felix (okay its more like she mentions it once and Marinette is totally game) so after school they wait back in the locker room and alix goes into lilac locker to set up a paint bomb that would set of once the door is open, the next morning alix (who’s secretly filming) and Mari wait eagerly, Lila opens her locker and her face is instantly covered in green paint, and thanks to the schools uselessness they couldn’t prove who did it, alix sent the video to the gangs group chat, felix will never tell them this (he will eventually...he just doesn’t know that) them being the gang, Alix, Kim, Max and luka when he’s around (damn it luka why don’t you go to their school) but he’s thankful every day that he found them, before starting public school (sins he moved in with the Agreste's as a child he was also homeschooled like Adrian) he never had a real friend apart from Adrian and even their relationship has issues, but the gang has taught him what real friendship is, true support and he’s determined to never let anyone *cough* Lila *cough* hurt them
Mari made a doll version of all the hero’s so far, herself LB, chat noir, bunnix, Renard arctique (Fox Felix) carapace and viperion, and because she a cutie on one of chat noirs visits she gives him the dolls and asks him to give each of the heroes’s there doll as a thank you for saving Paris so many times (she forgot at the time this meant Chat would be giving the lb one back to her in costume) Chat Definitelyasked Marinette to also make him an LB doll as he “wants the original due”
The gang never misses one of Kim’s swimming competitions, Mari made a massive sign with his name, Kim pretends to hate it but really he loves it, and always insists Luka and Felix hold it because there the tallest and they have to make sure Kim sees them “if he can’t see us he might think we didn’t show up which might make him think we don’t care which might make him sad and might make him lose the competition and we just can’t let that happen guys!” So they hold the sign and they all cheer Kim on and after they go back to the dupain-cheng bakery for celebratory sweets
It’s when Mari and Kagami go for one of there coffee catch-ups that Mari admits her feelings for Felix for the first time, Kagami admits her feelings for Adrian in return, Mari jokes that there both In Love with two oblivious idiots and Kagami says she’s glad to have Marinette as a friend, that she has someone to talk to about this stuff
Felix is on a pretty tight leash like Adrian, not as badly as Adrian, he’s still forced to model and do music etc but because Gabriel is an asshole and sees Felix as less of a priority because he’s not actually his blood, he’s not actually an agreste (Emilie will kick your ass when she wakes up for treating her nephew/adopted son like he’s not really part of the family hawkbitch) so when the gang are having sleepovers or going to the zoo he can’t always join, luckily Over the years he’s realised if he tells Natalie he’s studying no one actually checks to see if he’s actually there studying so he can leave and come a few hours later and nobody notices he was gone, he mentions this to the gang on one occasion and they all just go silent for a moment and then hug him, after that they all start doing little things to make sure he knows they notice him, and that they care, Alix sends him cat videos if he’s not replying in the group chat, she knows that most likely means somethings gong down in the agreste mansion so she sends them as a dissertation, Kim will ask felix to help him train at the pool because he knows felix likes being out of the house as much as possible, max goes over to “study” meaning they tell Natalie that and then max and felix read in silence, max knows felix isn’t much of a talker and for him (felix) just being there in the room is enough, sometimes talking isn’t needed, luka dose something similar, except insted of silence he uses music, once a week felix goes over to the house boat and they have a jam session, luka finds that sometimes music expresses how you feel a lot better than words, that was one of the first things they bonded over, Mari has felix over for tea multiple times a week, originally it was only once but after THAT day, realising just how neglected Felix really felt (even if he didn’t realise it yet himself) she was determined to make sure he knew he had a home, that he was always welcome in the dupain-cheng house, Felix noticed after a few weeks what they were doing, he asked Marinette about it and she caved and told him “we just wanted you to know we see you, we always notice when your not there....and I wanted you to know you always have a home with me” Felix then realised something that he would tell Marinette later, once they officially got together, he realised he does have a home, she’s his home
Sins Marinette is in charge of giving out the miraculous to people when they need the extra help (this is before the part-time hero’s become full part-time hero’s with patrols and stuff) she has a password-protected document on her pc full of graphs and lists of potential miraculous that would fit people, she thought about all the miraculous and who would be most compatible with who, who could she trust most, who would be able to put the needs of Paris first, who was good and honest, some people she thought about as potential miraculous holders where Adrian using the dog miraculous, Nathaniel using the rooster miraculous and aroura with the bee, and Marc with the mouse miraculous, this is how she made the decision for Alix to have the bunny miraculous, Felix to have the fox, Nino to have the turtle, luka to have the sake and for Kagami to eventually have the dragon, Kim the monkey and max the horse

The New Yorkers (Part 21)
Frank gave Annabeth a gracious smile as he opened the door to let her in. “Good morning,” he said. Annabeth stepped in.
“Hey, Frank.”
Frank was the only person whose neatness could rival her own. The only decoration in the apartment save for a few metals and awards were photographs of himself and Hazel, and some old pictures of his mom and grandmother.
“Hazel’s finishing up in the kitchen,” Frank explained. Annabeth could smell food and she heard the faucet running. Hazel stood in the kitchen, finishing up the dishes. There were three places set at the table.
“Morning, Annabeth,” Hazel said, turning around. She wiped her wet hands on a towel hanging on the stove. “You’re just in time.”
“Oh, Hazel, you didn’t have to make me breakfast,” Annabeth said.
Hazel shrugged. “It was my turn to make breakfast anyway. What’s an extra plate? And besides, I thought pancakes could soften the blow of whatever’s stressing you out.”
Annabeth and Frank sat at the table. Hazel joined them with forks. For a long time, Annabeth sat and ate her pancakes. That was much better than rehashing the script she’d come up with in her head to ask- or beg, if she had to- Hazel for her help. She stared at the bowl of gleaming red pomegranates in the middle of the table.
Hazel caught her staring. “Nico brought those a couple days ago from Propserpina’s... um Persephone’s garden. Aren’t they beautiful?”
“And poisonous,” Frank added.
“To you. So,” Hazel started slowly. “What’s the matter? When you called you sounded stressed out.
Annabeth swallowed. She sipped her orange juice to help the fact that her throat suddenly went dry. “I, uh well... I got a visit from Athena yesterday,” Annabeth started slowly.
“How was that?” Frank asked.
“Well, not good, or else Annabeth wouldn’t have called me beside herself,” Hazel reminded her fiance. She turned back to Annabeth. “You can tell us.”
Annabeth knew there were few people on the planet she could trust more. After sailing to Europe with them to defeat Gaea, Annabeth realized the Roman demigods had unmatchable courage. Besides that, they were genuinely so calm and caring it made Annabeth thankful to have such good friends.
“Well, there’s a war starting... on Olympus,” Annabeth started. “A mutiny against Zeus.”
“Gods,” Hazel said. Her shoulders tensed. “That’s not good.”
Frank’s dark eyebrows knitted together. “That’s funny... because my dad said something about a war. Didn’t mention it was on Olympus. Why would the gods want to overthrow Jupiter?”
“I could think of a few reasons,” Annabeth said shortly. “Ares is one of them. And so is Hades. And Hephaestus and Hermes. It was Poseidon’s idea.” Annabeth thought about her mother’s visit. It almost brought tears to her eyes. She firmly reminded herself she’d fix everything with Percy. That was why she was here.
Hazel looked dumbfounded. “I wonder if Jason knows...”
“I doubt it. But you mean to say that your mom- that Minerva is going to defend Jupiter?” Frank asked slowly. Annabeth couldn’t read his expression.
Annabeth nodded. “She said she’s going to defend her father. And she’s not going to turn her back on thousands of years of tradition. But she said something else- she said that she knows Percy and Poseidon are close, and he’ll do anything to defend him.”
“It’s true,” Hazel nodded. “Neptune talks to Percy way more than our fathers talk to us.” Annabeth knew that her relationship with her father was strained. Ares wasn’t exactly the nurturing type either.
“It all makes sense,” Frank said suddenly.
“What does?” Hazel and Annabeth said in unison.
Frank took a deep breath. “A couple weeks ago, Percy came to talk to me. Poseidon had visited him and told him to stay away from you. Said Athena said the same thing to you,” Frank explains. “If they’re rivals, and now on opposite sides of this war, of course there’s no way they’d want you together.”
“That’s awful,” Hazel said sympathetically. “You can Percy were just starting to get along. You look so cute together.”
Annabeth looked at her friends. They were lucky at least that their parents were on the same side. So were Jason and Piper. She knew what she was about to say was going to sound absolutely insane.
“The thing is, we’ve been together,” Annabeth said. Speaking the words out loud hit her with a wave of emotion.
It was clear Hazel and Frank didn’t understand what she was saying. “Huh?” Frank asked.
Annabeth gripped her fork tightly. “Athena told me yesterday that I met Percy when I was twelve. We went to camp together, fought together, became friends, fell in love- he went on the quest with all of us. She used The Mist to get rid of my memory of him because she thought I’d help him and Poseidon fight against Zeus.” Annabeth took a shaky breath.
Hazel looked heartbroken. At least she didn’t think Annabeth was a nutjob. Frank looked like he was trying his hardest to be sympathetic, but was still very confused.
“So you and Percy were dating?” Frank asked. “This whole time?”
Annabeth shrugged lamely. “Apparently. I can’t remember.”
“And he was with us the entire quest?”
Annabeth nodded again. “And he was with me in Tartarus.” Annabeth felt tears at the backs of her eyes.
Frank still didn’t seem sold. “But how is it possible that we remember doing those things with you...but we also separately remember doing them with Percy?” He looked like his head was going to explode.
“Oh, stop interrogating her,” Hazel said. She reached across the table to squeeze Annabeth’s hand. “The Mist is powerful. It can create multiple versions of reality and have you thinking so many different things are true at the same time. I just can’t believe I didn’t realize or I didn’t sense anything- oh, Annabeth...”
Annabeth’s lip trembled. The look of realization on Hazel’s face almost broke her. She knew what she was asking seemed crazy, especially since she didn’t have any evidence herself.
“Hazel, I didn’t know who else to ask. You’re the only demigod I know who can control The Mist, and you have Hecate’s blessing, so maybe you’re stronger than my mother- and if I had someone else to ask I promise I would. The last thing I wanted to do was involve you...” Annabeth sniffled.
Hazel and Frank shared a grim look. Without hesitation, Hazel nodded. “I’ll do what I can,” she said. “I can’t promise you anything but of course, I’ll try. I’ll make an offering to Hecate this evening, and hopefully that’ll put me in her good graces.”
Annabeth wanted to cry out with relief. “Hazel, I can’t thank you enough.”
“You don’t have to,” Hazel assured her. “I’d do anything to help you Annabeth.”
“You said Athena wiped your memories in the first place because she was afraid of what you’d do for Percy. Do you think you’ll do anything rash?” Frank asked.
“I don’t know,” Annabeth admitted. “I don’t think so. But I don’t know how much I love him. I don’t know how much I used to love him. But if there’s a way to find out, I can’t not try.”
Frank nodded with understanding. “I mean, if my father and Hazel’s were going at it, I’d do whatever it took to keep Hazel safe, no questions asked. So it’s only fair Athena would assume the same,” Frank said. “But it’s your choice what you do for Percy, not hers.” Annabeth couldn’t agree more.
Hazel gave Frank a quick smile and turned back to Annabeth. “We’ll figure this out, I promise.”
***
Percy sat on the couch and tried to keep himself from cracking his laptop in half. He’d been staring at the tiny letters on the screen for a while now. His dyslexia wasn’t making filling out any of the perfunctory work forms any easier. It was starting to get late and Percy felt his eyes drooping shut. He’d had a long day at work. A good, productive day but a long one.
His dreams were odd. They were all about Annabeth. When they were in the back of a zoo truck as kids, swimming in the lake at camp together, kissing at the bottom of the lake in Camp Half-Blood... the dreams felt familiar to Percy, almost as if they were memories.
A hard, heavy beating on the door woke Percy up. He closed his laptop and set it next to him. He got up to answer the door. For some reason, he felt more alert, and different somehow.
As soon as the door opened, Percy was ambushed. Annabeth’s arms squeezed around him tightly. Her hug felt just as much like home as Paul and Sally’s place. Annabeth kicked the door shut. She squeezed Percy so tight he felt like his eyes were going to pop out of his head. He didn’t care.
His senses were heightened. He noticed every little thing about Annabeth. Suddenly, he remembered smelling that linen-lemony smell all over her for years. He remembered years of battles with her, some he even wished he could forget. He remembered playing Capture the Flag alongside Annabeth, and her readjusting the straps on his armor whenever they were crooked. He remembered sailing to Greece with her and worst of all, he remember the long, hard fall into Tartarus. Thankfully, things had gotten better for them. Percy remembered graduating high school, ice skating in the wintertime, hanging out with Annabeth at his mom’s, and a lot of kissing.
He pulled back from Annabeth so that he could take a good look at her. Even though she looked the same as always, she looked different. He felt like he recognized her more. He could finally understand that calculating, challenging expression in her eyes. He’d been looking at it for years.
“I don’t... what... how?” Percy said dumbly, looking at his girlfriend. Was girlfriend even the right word? Annabeth was part of him, much more than someone he just hung out with and went on the occasional date with. He knew Annabeth just as well as he knew himself.
Before she answered him, Annabeth put her hands on Percy’s cheeks and kissed him. “I love you,” she said. Her eyes pooling with tears. “I love you so much, Percy. Athena came to me yesterday. She wiped our memories, she used The Mist-”
“I’m starting to wonder how many times a goddess can wipe my memory,” Percy said bitterly. “Why this time?”
Annabeth took Percy’s hand and guided him to his couch. She didn’t let him go. She didn’t want to. Never again. “Because she knows how much I love you and would do anything for you. And because... your father wants to overthrow Zeus.”
Percy stared at Annabeth blankly. He couldn’t believe the words coming out of her mouth, even though he knew she wasn’t a liar. He tried to focus on the feeling of her hand in his so that he didn’t have to think about her revelation. Percy knew his father and the King of the Gods didn’t get along, but he’d never think Poseidon would start a full-out mutiny. And why was it that Athena had told Annabeth, and Poseidon hadn’t told him? He knew he spoke to his father far more than Annabeth spoke to her mother.
Percy took a deep breath. He looked at Annabeth cuddled on the couch under him, looking up at him intently as if she planned to never look away from him. “I don’t- I don’t know anything about that. Let’s not worry about that right now. I mean, we just got our memories of each other back, that’s what I want to focus on.”
“You have Hazel to thank. She made an offering to Hecate, and I guess she helped her-”
“Well, it’s official then,” Percy said with a shrug. “We owe Hazel our firstborn child.”
Annabeth laughed. “I just can’t believe everything we’ve been through. Imagine, we go through hell and back- literally- all to never actually reunite because you decide to ruin my shirt with a taco. And not apologize for it.”
Percy laughed at the thought. He couldn’t believe he’d all but hated Annabeth at one point. Sure they bickered, but not as much as they had when they’d met again months ago. “I mean, if I can get over how annoying you are twice, then obviously it’s destiny.” Annabeth slapped his shoulder. He kissed her in return.
Annabeth bit her lip. Her stormy expression returned. “But what if that hadn’t happened? If we’d never run into each other again, if Piper and Jason hadn’t set us up, if you hadn’t exploded sewage all over me, we wouldn’t have gotten together. We wouldn’t have realized that we’ve already spent almost half our lives together,” she persisted.
Percy knew she was right, But still, he was just so happy to have Annabeth back he couldn’t bring himself to focus on what could have been. “It’s what The Fates wanted. And sometimes they have more power than the gods.”
“You’re right,” Annabeth sighed with resignation. She wrapped her arms around Percy.
“What? Me, right?” Percy asked in disbelief.
“For once, Seaweed Brain” Annabeth agreed, smirking.
“We should do something to celebrate,” Percy suggested.
“Celebrate?” Annabeth repeated.
“Yeah, it’s not every day I get my memory of you back. It’s been like, five years since that happened last. We should see a movie, or go take a walk-”
“Right here is fine, Percy,” Annabeth assured him.
Percy smiled down at Annabeth. He was fine with that. After all, if they’d spent a hundred nights cuddling together on the couch, what was one-hundred-and-one?
“Well, are you hungry? I could make some dinner,” Percy offered. Unfortunately, now Annabeth would remember he was a miserable cook.
Annabeth shook her head. She squeezed Percy tighter like she was hanging on for dear life. “My mom was right,” Annabeth whispered, even though she knew knew Percy didn’t want to talk about things. “If it comes down to it, I’ll fight with you. I’m not letting you go again. We promised each other that.”
Percy nodded slowly. He still wasn’t sure how he felt about his father’s actions. If it meant keeping Annabeth safe, he’d take a backseat.
“Annabeth, we don’t even know for sure what it’s going to come down to. And until we do, I don’t want to worry. I just want to keep feeling like we’ve made it and all this is behind us for a second, even if it isn’t.”
Annabeth nodded understandingly. “Okay, we can do that.” She kissed Percy again. He knew it would be a matter of time before his relationship with Annabeth went back to normal- all the bickering, the late nights falling asleep watching Annabeth study, her complaints on how dirty and disorganized his bedroom was. He was ready for all of it- scratch that, excited.

best reptile resources online1
My yearning to travel goes way back as far as I can remember. School field trips was one of my favorite things to do because our class visited places that were sometimes taken for granted especially if they were in our town or city. We'd visit museums and interesting places like the Houston Planetarium, the Intercontinental Airport and Hermann Park Zoo field trips stick out in mind more than anything. Someday, I will venture back to Houston, Texas to revisit the places of my school days! My grandchildren would appreciate visiting some of these places as well. The Internet is a luxury I never had back in the seventies. Had it been around back those days, there's no telling where I'd be today! Maps are easily at our disposal and GPS's makes traveling so much easier. Nowadays, before arriving at a destination, I know exactly what we're going to do and when we're going to do it. Nothing bothers me more than to hear a bunch of teenagers whining about being bored and not having anything to do! Especially on my trip! So I plan every day ahead of time, and make sure that slack times are in the evenings where we gather around the pool and enjoy a good swim or if we're camping out, we all gather around the fire where we can roast wieners or marshmallows, make s'mores and have family time and share our thoughts and pictures of the day.
We're not the perfect family and no, we don't always have a perfect vacation... but we make memories and have fun trying and that's what makes it so good! Because we are not rich and have to vacation on a shoe string budget every year makes us appreciate the things we do and see, and the places we go! It's not all about theme parks, glitz and famous places - there's something good even in the smallest museums. best reptile resources online  You just have to know 'what' and 'where' it is! It's called research! If you travel with teens, nine times out of ten they carry cell phones. Keep them busy on Google looking for fun activities in the town you're visiting. You'll never know what you may find!
Let me tell you about our trip last year.
Day one, we started off here in the South, drove to Amarillo, where we spent the night in an affordable room that served breakfast. In the evening before retiring for the night, we ate sandwiches and chips, and swam for a while and ended the evening with a movie or two. The next day we spent the biggest part of our day driving on to Colorado Springs, Colorado where we spent the next few days having a blast before going on to the next destination on our itinerary.
Day three, while we were in Colorado Springs, our first visit was to the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center in Woodland Park, Colorado.
They have a wonderful display of dinosaurs, prehistoric marine reptiles, pterosaurs and fish of North America's late Cretaceous period. In addition to vibrant graphics and life-restoration sculptures, visitors could venture around the museum reading the stories of each specimen. They also have a working fossil laboratory where important recently discovered paleontological specimens are being freed from their rock matrix and undergoing restoration, as well as a children's area where they can brush off fossils in our dig box, there are books to read, a magnetic board for them to make their own imaginative dinosaur, and a rubbing station where they can take home their colorful drawings of dinosaurs. Everyone in the family will enjoy the Dinosaur Resource Center. If you have a few extra dollars to spend, there is a gift shop for souvenirs.
Later that evening we had dinner, swam at the pool at our motel and spent the remainder getting baths, and ready for bed so we could get a decent start the next day. Since we had such a large group with us, we got multiple rooms where everyone wouldn't be too cramped and could enjoy a good nights sleep after the long drive the day before and the outing this day. Our motel wasn't the best but it provided the essentials we needed at an affordable price, and it was clean and quiet. We were on a budget!
The next day, we packed a picnic lunch and headed off to the Manitou Cliff Dwellings located in Manitou Springs, Colorado, five miles west of Colorado Springs.
We toured the Anasazi Museum. Impressive dioramas depicted the daily life of the Pueblo Anasazi. At the museum, we saw exhibits of tools, pottery, weapons, and informative videos that offered a glimpse of the mysterious people who left a remarkable architectural legacy on mesa tops and in cliff walls like the one at the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. Scientists still are unsure why the Anasazi left their cliff dwelling homes hundreds of years ago, but when you tour the dwellings and museum you'll also become intrigued with finding out more about their lives as my family has.

He’ll save every one of us Chapter 6
Brian May x Reader with side notes of Roger Taylor x Original female character
Preview:  “She suggested I drop my degree, and run off to Antarctica with her, so we could live out our lives with penguins. I shot that idea down rather quickly, which then of course resulted in her designing a plan to steal a penguin from the zoo instead. I have a feeling that moving to Antarctica was for purely selfish penguin related reasons, and not because of my crisis over exams.”
Chapter six: Broken inside
The taxi zipped through the busy London traffic, very nearly causing a collision on multiple occasions, though you nor the other passengers in the cab had it in you to mention the erratic driving. It was typical taxi driver behaviour really, they wanted to get you to your destination as fast as possible, in hopes of earning a decent tip, you were hardly in the tipping mood however. To anyone else, today could be described as the perfect day. You had woken up to clear blue skies, the sun shining merrily away without a cloud to be seen. Birds chirped gayly from their nests, as children shrieked with glee bellow. Yes, to anyone who wasn’t about to spend two hours sitting in a church, today was perfect.
Brian sat in silence beside you, his hand clasped tightly around yours, his knuckles turning white from the prolonged cramped posture. His suit fitted him well, and the bright orange tie he wore around his neck was exactly what the funeral announcement had requested. ‘The family has requested that everyone in attendance wear something orange, to remember Bree.’ You could picture the newspaper clipping clearly in your mind, it wasn’t something you could easily forget though, the death announcement of your best friend.  You had been sitting at the small circular table in Brian and Roger’s flat, eating cereal at 3pm, when you flipped the page of the newspaper, finding yourself face to face with the obituaries. Only three days had passed, and those days felt both like a lifetime and as if no time had passed whatsoever. You knew Bree’s obituary would be published, but the shock you felt upon looking at it for the first time, nothing could have ever prepared you for that. Reading the announcement, taking in the details of where and when the funeral was to be held, made the whole situation all the more real. You had almost convinced yourself it had all been a terrible nightmare, and you would have believed that too, if it hadn’t of been for Brian constantly checking up on you, and for Roger’s zombie like state. Brian had found you that afternoon curled up in the kitchen, back pressed against the over door, with you head buried in your knees. He had sat with you for nearly an hour, just holding you, and whispering quiet reassurances into your ear.
As was protocol, you had worn a black dress, pairing it was the most outrageous pair of orange high heels that had ever existed. They sported three shades of orange, snakeskin, and sequins. Bree had loved them, and had worn them without your knowledge on many an occasion. Roger sat beside Brian, a black pinstriped suite, and orange scarf draped across his thin figure, he looked as miserable as you felt, all life having seemed to drain out of his eyes. Freddie and John had opted to take their own tai, promising to meet you at the church before the service began, they had tried to convince Roger to ride with them, but you had insisted he go with you and Brian.
                                                                    **********
“Darling, are you sure you don’t want Roger to join us?” Freddie asked softly, looking at you with pleading eyes.
You shook your head no, before sighing deeply. “Fred, I think Roger needs me with him right now. He’s hurting just as much as I am, I think having someone there who was as close to Bree as he was, is what is best. For both of us.” Freddie relented after that, he knew when to pick his fights, and could tell this would be a losing battle.
You had Brian to comfort you, had since the very first second you stepped foot in the hospital, Roger however had suddenly found himself without a shoulder to cry on. Bree had been his go to when he needed someone to vent to as of late, and now with her gone, he was back to square one. Try as they might, none of the boys were able to comfort Roger, simply because none of them had experienced loss this way. You however, had. You were dealing with the exact same thing as Roger was, and he seemed to take solace in that fact. If he needed someone to talk to, he sought you out, which wasn’t difficult, as you had been spending all your time at their flat. And the moment you had told him to ride in the taxi with you and Brian, you could see he was about ready to cry once again.
                                                                    **********
Sitting in the church, a coffin decorated in photographs of Bree’s life standing in the centre of everyone’s attention, it all felt almost too surreal. You were sat up the front along with her family, and you could hear her mother sobbing from a few seats away. You turned to look, and spotted Mister Skewes offering Misses Skewes a tissue, before wrapping his arm around her shoulders. You longed to have Brian beside you to do the same, or to comfort you in some way, however he, along with Freddie and John were stood towards the back, leaving seats for those who were closest to the family and to Bree. Roger sat somewhere in the middle, you had lost sight of him once you took your seat.
It was your turn now, Bree’s parents had asked you to prepare a eulogy for the day, and despite how much you wished you had said no, at the time you agreed. Your hands tremble as you make your way to the front, the papers you clutched tightly in your fists becoming crumpled. As you stood before the guests, an all too familiar scent hit your nose, and you felt the urge to cry overwhelm you once again. Bree’s perfume, you would recognise it anywhere, she wore the same perfume every day you had known her, no matter the occasion. All rational thinking leaves your mind as you breath in the scent deeply, looking up and over the many people. You almost expect Bree to have just walked into the church. You catch sight of Brian, his mop of curls making him stand out in the crowd, and he offers you a soft smile. Looking around once again, you spot the bottle of perfume sat beside the coffin, how you hadn’t noticed it before you’re unsure, but now you see it clear as day. The bottle is nearly empty, due to Bree’s constant use, and you want to envelope yourself in the smell for the rest of your life.
Finally, blinking back tears, you look down at your papers, and smooth them over, your voice shaking as you begin. “Bree was the kind of person you dream about meeting, she was larger than life in every aspect, but yet still one of the most down to earth people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Despite only knowing each other for a few years, we both always agreed that we must’ve been soulmates in another lifetime.” You pause and look up, tears beginning to cloud your vision. You spot Jake in the crowd, his head bowed, taking in your words, just as everyone else did the same. “I always knew I could talk to Bree about anything, she would be my first point of call after a heartbreak, or after an especially good date. No matter what, she was always there to listen, and offer advice. Her advice wasn’t always the best, and on several occasions,  she suggested I drop my degree, and run off to Antarctica with her, so we could live out our lives with penguins. I shot that idea down rather quickly, which then of course resulted in her designing a plan to steal a penguin from the zoo instead. I have a feeling that moving to Antarctica was for purely selfish penguin related reasons, and not because of my crisis over exams.”
You take a deep breath, choking back the sob that so desperately claws its way up your throat. Tears were prickling at your eyes now, but you refused to allow yourself to cry in front of all these people. “I wish Bree was here with us all still today, I’ll miss our band rehearsals and concerts, I know for a fact that Tim’s place will never be the same without Bree singing along to every song that plays over the jukebox.” You smile softly, thinking back to all the times you had found yourself sat in that very bar, screaming your lungs out to each song that played. Bree, I love you, we all love you. You’ll be in my heart forever and will be missed eternally.” You ball the paper up in your fist, and step away and back to your seat. There was so much more you wanted to say, but your final words had come out strangled, and you found yourself struggling to breathe. Looking over your shoulder, you lock eyes with Roger, his pale blue orbs swimming with unshed tears. All you can do is offer him a half-hearted smile, knowing damned well that it wouldn’t do anything to help comfort him, you barely knew how to comfort yourself in this moment, let alone him and it was all you had to offer.
                                                                    **********
The bright sun almost seemed to be smocking you as you left the church, it was such a stark contrast to the dark and bleak mood you currently found yourself in. Wrapping your arms around yourself, you made your way into the garden behind the church. Most of the guests remained to once again express their condolences to Bree’s family, before either making their way home, to the wake or just back to their lives in general. As they say, life goes on, with or without your best friend. You had done well, no tears had officially been shed on your behalf during the entire service,  they had pooled at the corner of your eyes, but you had never allowed a single one to go any further, you flat out refused to cry any more, and hadn’t done so since telling Roger the news last week.
There’s a small wooden bench perched amongst some flowering bushes towards the back of the garden, and you take a seat there, swinging your legs back and forth below you as you look across the garden. Everything was beautifully green and in bloom, and in any other situation this would be an ideal spot to sit and think over how wonderful life was. The quiet is disturbed by footsteps rounding the corner, before the newcomer sits down beside you. “I’m so sorry my love.” Brian murmurs, wrapping an arm around your shoulder, as you rest your cheek against his shoulder.
Brain had sent Freddie and Deaky off to go and find Roger, who had disappeared after the service, he was sure that the drummer just needed some time alone though he would prefer to know he was safe. “I kept telling myself this wasn’t real. I had myself convinced that Bree was just gone for a few weeks on holiday, and that she would be back, you know? But this, today, it’s finally dawning on me that she’s not on holiday.” You sighs, pulling away from Brian’s shoulder and blinking up at him. You had wiped off your foundation on his jacket by accident, leaving him with sa rather large mark on his new suit
“I know, I can’t quite believe it either. And I wish I knew what to say.” He whispers.
With a deep sigh, you clasp your hand around his, stroking you thumb over his knuckles. “It isn’t raining.” The statement seemingly comes out of nowhere, and leaves Brian with a look of sheer confusion. “The movies… It’s always raining at a funeral.”
Brain leans forwards, brushing a soft kiss to your lips. “What do we do now?”
“We move on. According to all the ‘dealing with grief’ pamphlets I’ve read, we’re supposed to go on with our lives, just like that.” You want laugh, the idea of continuing on as you would normally sounding like the most absurd thing in the world to you.
“And is that what you want to do?”
“What I want to do, is have a drink.”
                                                                   **********
Today was not a good day, nearly a full week had passed since the funeral and you still refused to allow yourself to cry. Something which was becoming increasingly hard as the day wore on. This was your first time back in your apartment, you had spent the last near two weeks with Brain at his and Roger’s place, desperately needing the company, afraid of what would happen if you were alone. But here you were, once again alone, standing in what was once Bree’s bedroom. Brian had offered to come with you, so had Roger, but you had refused. This was something you had to do, you had to go through Bree’s things, and sort out what was to be kept, donated or thrown away.  You had discussed how to do this with Mister and Misses Skewes, who were both too distraught to do the task themselves. They had told you to keep anything you wanted, and to pack up everything for them in boxes, they promised to be around within a few weeks to collect the boxes.
Going through her room was pure agony, you had started the day off with music blasting from the record player in the living room, but soon enough the memories of Bree dancing to the songs that played became too much, and you returned to silence. The silence was worse, it allowed you to hear your own thoughts, and right now, that was the last thing you need. ‘Why wasn’t it me?’ The voice in your head repeated, and you dragged your hands down your face, You had been asking yourself that exact question for days now, and at no point could you ever come up with a reason as to why you were still stood here, and Bree was not. Picking up Bree’s bass guitar, Penny, you scream, very nearly dropping the electric blue guitar. Bree had saved for months in order to purchase Penny, and the guitar truly was beautiful, and sounded magnificent!
                                                                    **********
“What would you like me to do with Bree’s bass?” You asked timidly, sitting on the small sofa in the hotel Mister and Misses Skewes were staying at in London.
Mister Skewes, or Andrew as you had been instructed to call him, turned to his wife Emelia, a pained expression crossing both of their faces. None of you knew quite how to approach this subject, you knew the clean out process had to begin, but the how’s and when’s were difficult to negotiate.
“Did you ever play dear?” Emelia asks with a gentle smile, sipping her tea as she looks at you expectantly.
You shake your head no, placing your own up of tea back on the coffee table. “Bree taught me a little bit, but I was never able to pick it up as well as her.”
“No one else in our family plays, Bree was the only one of us who was musically gifted. Please, you keep her guitar, do with it as you will, but please make sure it goes to someone who will appreciate it.”
                                                                  **********
You can’t quite recall the last time you had driven Bree’s station wagon, if you ever had for that matter? You had your own car, and Bree was always happy to drive you to and from your gigs with your drum kit in the back, but for today, you needed the larger car, and yours just wouldn’t cut it. You drive through London, making the short trip to Brian’s flat, knowing he and Roger would be out at rehearsal for the afternoon. Thankfully, Brian had given you your own key once you had started spending all of you time there, which made this whole process that little bit easier.
You carry your equipment up the flights of stairs, making multiple trips just to bring everything up, but you don’t mind, the exercise keeps your mind busy, and helps to keep your tears at bay for the time being. You set everything up, and feel your anger bubbling in your chest. You knew this was the right thing to do, but the situation surrounding it was all wrong. The sounds of footsteps near the front door pulls you away from your thinking, and as the door swings open, four sets of eyes lock onto you. Freddie and Deaky are here, you haven’t seen them since the funeral, and you’re thankful that they’re here now, especially Deaky. “Y/N love, is everything alright?” Brian asks, his eyes moving from yours and focusing on your drum kit which was now set up in his living room.
With a sniffle, you grab the drumsticks out of your back pocket, just as Freddie swings the front door closed. “I can’t do this anymore.” You whisper, and if it weren’t for the shocked look on Brian’s face, you would venture that no one had even heard you speak.
“Do what Y/N?”
“This! Music, the band! I can’t do it! Not without Bree!” You practically shriek, as you step closer to the four men, all who wore faces of sympathy and shock. During your time knowing these four men, at no stage had they ever seen you quite so worked up and emotional, and they had no idea how to react. “Roger, my drum kit is yours.”
You thrust the drumsticks into his hands, not waiting for a reply, before storming back to the sofa you had been stood at just before. With care, you pick up the guitar case, with Penny enclosed, making your way over to John. “Deaky.” You mutter, shoving the case towards the young man with a little too much force.
“Y/N, we can’t take these….” John begins, though you cut him off before he can say another word.
“I don’t want to fucking hear it Deacon!”
Freddie steps forwards slowly, as if he were afraid to approach you. “Darling, Deaky is right. We really can’t accept these. Music is a part of you, one day you will want to play again, just not today.”
You scowl at Freddie, your eyes dark with pure anger. “You just don’t fucking get it do you?” You cry, your voice cracking. “None of you fucking get it!”
This time, Brian steps forwards, holding his hand out towards you, long fingers extended your way. “What don’t we get Y/N?”
Taking a shaky breath in, you close your eyes and try to fight back the tears that had once again returned. ‘I will not cry. Not here, not in front of them.’ You think to yourself. “That was our thing, music, we did it together. You can’t understand what it’s like, you still have each other, you have your band still. I don’t! What have I got? A drummer, and a guitarist who never fucking shows up! Please, I just can’t have these things around me anymore. I never want to drum again.” You end in a whisper, and just as you do, the heavens open up, lightning filling the dark sky with white light, as thunder shakes the window panes of the apartment. Ironic really, it doesn’t rain for Bree’s funeral, but the day you end her dream of starting a rock band, a fucking monsoon hits.
Someone is trying to talk to you, but their words aren’t making it through, you’re lost in your own thoughts now. You’ve failed Bree, you know you have, all she ever wanted was to play music, whether you got famous or not she didn’t care, and she always thought you were an incredible percussionist.  But here you are, hanging up that dream like it was your coat at the end of the day. If you didn’t have Bree to encourage you any more, why should you ever drum again? The joy of drumming came from Bree, you would bounce ideas off each other all the time. She would start playing a groovy little riff, and you would join in, throwing suggestions in at different points until you had something amazing. But that could never happen again, a least not with Bree.
Strong arms wrap around you, and you collapse into them, sobbing loudly as you openly cry in front of Queen. There’s no stopping the tears now that the flood gates have opened, you could no longer hold back the tears you had fought against, and you fell into Brian’s chest as the grief filled tears flow freely from you now. In one swift motion, Brian sweeps his arm up under your knees and lifts you up, carrying you through his apartment and towards his bedroom. Someone walks ahead of him, pushing the door open, then swinging it closed behind you both. Gently, he places you down on the bed, before laying down beside you, keeping you enclosed in his tight embrace, as you sob against his chest.
                                                                    **********
As much as he hated to admit it, Brian knew this moment would come, you were strong, that he knew for sure. But you could only be strong for so long, before something finally snapped, and he had just been waiting for the moment to come, though he secretly hoped it never would. The others seemed to be waiting just as he was, they knew you could only cover your pain with a smile for a short amount of time, and after seeing Roger break down numerous times, they knew you wouldn’t be too far behind. Brian held you tightly, stroking his hands along your back, attempting to sooth you as best he could, but without ever saying anything. What good are words in this situation?
He had been expecting this all week, but had never expected it to come about this way, the last thing he ever thought he would walk in to, was you giving away your drums and Bree’s bass. He knew it must’ve been a near impossible decision for you to make, and if it was what you truly wanted, then he would help you find a good home for your kit and Penny. But he worried that it was a heat of the moment thing. He wished you hadn’t turned him away when he offered to help you pack Bree’s things, perhaps if he had been there, he could’ve stopped things from turning out this way?  Maybe he would’ve been able to convince you that drumming was the best thing for you to do?
Outside his room, he can hear Roger, Freddie and Deaky talking quietly, though it’s too faint for him to catch what they are discussing. Likely they are trying to figure out what to do with the drum kit which now took up the better part of the living room.  He turns his attention back to you, feeling your sobbing become more calm, with greater gaps between each cry. “I love you.” He whispers into your hair, pressing a kiss to your scalp, as he feels you slowly fall asleep against his chest. Leaning away carefully, he pulls the cover up over both of you, as he too drifts off to sleep, never letting you go.
                                                                    **********
Waking up in Brian’s arms was not something you were unfamiliar with, however waking up with you both fully clothed, and tear stains on his shirt, that was something you were not used sto. Brian snores quietly, and you peel yourself away from his arms, pulling the blanket back over him as you stretch out your aching muscles You had cracked, it had finally happened, and honestly, you felt better for it. The rain continues to patter against the window, the sky now totally black, the street lights illusminating the wet road bellow. Moving silently around Brian’s room, you strip off your clothes from the day, tracking down a shirt, and sleep shorts in his dresser drawers, slipping them on, leaving your clothes in a heap on the floor at the foot of the bed. Brian mumbles in his sleep, before rolling over to lay on his stomach, his hair splayed across the pillows to conceal his face. You smile softly before making your way out of his room, and towards the kitchen. All the lights are off, leading you to the conclusion that Freddie and Deaky had left, with Roger either in his own room asleep, or perhaps having left with the others. Scanning the contents of the fridge, you find a cartoon of juice, pulling it out as you search for a clean glass.  With a cup of juice in hand, you look out the window in the kitchen, your gaze turning to the yard that was considered to be part of the apartment complex. At first glance, it appears to be empty, until the faint glow of a lighter alerts you to someone being out there. Roger’s out there, alone, in the rain. You’re not sure how you know that it’s Roger who’s out there, but something in the back of your mind is convinced that it is.
Making sure to grab your key, you make your way downstairs and into the yard, finding the blonde stood beneath a tree, which barely shielded him from the rain, a lit cigarette between his lips. “Hey, I didn’t think you would be awake for a while yet.”
You shrug, as you make way over to him, standing beneath the tree beside him. “I guess I’m not physically tired as much as mentally.”
Roger seems to contemplate your words for a few moments before nodding in understanding. “Same here, I think. My brain feels like it’s working on overdrive these days.”
You can’t help but laugh at that, the feeling all too familiar. “Trust me Rog, I know exactly what you mean.” Wordlessly, Roger holds out his pack of smokes to you, and you happily take one, before lighting up the end with his offered lighter. “I’m sorry about this afternoon, I know this is hard on you too.”
“You don’t have to be sorry. You did exactly what felt right to you. And look, at the end of the day, I lost my girlfriend, you lost your best friend. You’re hurting a lot more than I am, I’m sure of it.”
You take a deep breath in, inhaling the smoke of your cigarette as you think of Roger’s words. “Do you think it ever gets easier?”
At that, Roger laughs, a grin spreading over his thin lips. “I think we just learn how to cope a little bit better.”
“I suppose I don’t have a very good coping mechanism at the moment.”
“It can’t be any worse than mine.”
“Well let’s look at it this way Rog, up until today I refused to allow myself to cry, and kept everything bottled up and to myself.”
Roger takes one final drag of his smoke, before butting it out on the ground. “True, but mine is no better. Brian put a lock on the booze cabinet because I refuse to do anything other than drink when I think about Bree.”
You run a hand through your damp hair, sending droplets of rain onto the ground. “Well shit, sounds like we’re both as fucked up as each other.” You step further into the yard until your standing in the very centre, no longer protected from the rain. There’s no thought to your next move, as you fall backwards, laying like a starfish in the wet grass.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Roger calls, crossing his arm over his chest.
“I’m letting go Roger. I’m letting go of everything!”
Slowly, he makes his way over to you, settling down cross legged on the grass by your side. Both of you staring up at the sky. The clouds were beginning to clear now, leaving room for the stars to peak through. Even the rain was starting to subside. “What are you letting go of?”
“I’m letting go of the misery that has been plaguing me for the past two weeks. Letting go of feeling like I could’ve done something to change what happened. Letting go of wishing it was me instead of Bree. I- I’m letting go of Bree.”
From the kitchen window, Brian looks down at his best friend and girlfriend, smiling to himself as he watches the two of you in the rain. The temptation to go down and join you both nagged at the back of his brain, however he thought better of it. Roger needed you just as you needed him for the time being. So instead, he went about setting up a pot of tea for when you both decided to come back upstairs.

Slacker kids made do.
I am fucking going to make 1988-92 San Fernando Valley Gen X Gothic at some point because it is very, very clear that everyone has forgotten that Gen X had a youth culture *at all*.
To me, "grunge" had a broader context: that of coming of age during deindustrialization, and repurposing the empty spaces left behind.
Gen Jones/older Gen X in my region were children when the Valley had robust family entertainment offerings such as its own theme park - Busch Gardens - and multiple petting zoo type experiences. It had wacky theme restaurants. It had discotheques and youth spaces.
The late 60s to late 70s experience was one where families and teenagers were a major market segment.
That's the thing, in my space we came of age in - for reference, I was born in 1973 - I *expected* to be able to do all of these things but they were all closing down, one by one. The Valley was changing; my own area had de-redlined years before, and now white flight was underway, and a series of plant closures. As the region became more diverse, lots of stuff closed. "Youth" practically became a dog-whistle term. We just can't have nice things.
And by the time I hit my teens, the teen spaces and clubs I'd looked forward to going to, were gone.
But the slow apocalypse we lived through that turned parts of the Valley into ghost town, left behind abandoned storage spaces and industrial spaces perfect for forbidden exploration.
My friends lived for local urban legends, like... was there really a Satanic cult meeting up at Vanalden Cave? I don't know.
Nature abhors a vacuum, and empty swimming pools made ad-hoc skate parks. We hung out in the head shops talking to the old hippies, and found a space in used record stores. And sometimes we crammed into each other's basements, playing music or AD&D. We harassed our friends at their service jobs ("Clerks" is so true to life). We drove around aimlessly. We hung out at Denny's and Norms into the small hours. We people watched in malls. Some of my friends were into Rocky Horror Picture Show, that's the scene the closeted LGBTQ kids were all hitting up.
(I realize all of this is a specific social space's experience, and probably class/race specific. I realize many of my friends and classmates were kids who weren't going to get disproportionately mistreated for trespassing, aimless driving, or loitering in retail spaces.)
There was a kind of aimlessness to it all. It was a different time to be a teenager. Lots of us still worked, drove, fucked, and some of us even smoked. We were expected to follow roughly the same trajectory as our parents and grandparents.
But we didn't get to be adults, either.
By the time we graduated, the jobs weren't there. I knew about 4 teens who only found out as of their high school graduation that college was not in the cards, when they discovered they could neither get parental help nor financial aid. Many of my friends got into computers because it was the only lifeboat off of a sinking ship. That's why I did.
We were left to figure so much out on our own. I know so many middle class Gen Xrs who barely had any parenting at all as of their teens. So many of our parents were just solipsistic levels of self-absorption and obliviousness. We swore we'd do better, so we fucked Gen Z up in new and inventive ways nobody had ever heard of before.
Wouldn't want you to play in the same landfill we parkoured through, the same strip mall parking lot we loitered in. The consequences are so much worse now.
