yk there's a lot of talk about the way merlin is practically a god but lives as an unassuming servant, and seeing this surprises druids/other magic users. i wanna see kind of the same thing happen to arthur with the people of his kingdom. we know arthur so intimately, from merlin's pov, but i wanna see him as a living legend. stories of his valor spreading across land, blown out of proportion and missing details. “the prince slayed the great dragon and gifted its head to the king!” “some say the goddess blessed him when he was born, when she took the queen back. how else does one survive an attack by a questing beast?” “he held out his hand and the sword stuck in solid stone flew to him! iwan says meredith’s aunt saw it herself!” “the word has come, king arthur defeated annis’ champion—a giant of a man!” old men discussing arthur’s policies, comparing them with those of previous rulers, and being glad that it's him on the throne “finally, a good fucking king.” people having faith that their ruler is generous and fair and can be approached in times of need, and having the comforting knowledge that he would do his best to help because that's what he did with the other village last year! young boys dreaming to join his army and young girls daydreaming about a fairy tale ending with him (or vice versa, obv). just... arthur of his people.

When he’s first revived again, he’s a little too focused on retrieving the others to really focus on that aspect of the mission. He does immediately notice you, Kohaku, and Ginrou missing tho,,,

Even when you slide in with Amaryllis after Kohaku and Ginrou’s petrification, he’s a little busy to fully take in your new look

He doesn’t pass up the chance to get closer to you during Gen’s attempts to manipulate Mozu, taking up the space between you and the conversation and lacing your fingers together

He’s not used to seeing you so dressed up and he’ll be sure to keep you as such once humanity starts reaching its past levels (but don’t be surprised in the future when he suddenly gifts you extravagant outfits and makeup that perfectly matches your complexion)

He finds his eyes gravitating to you quite often, taking in as much of the look as he can while also trying to keep his mind on the mission

Of course, he isn’t shy to come whisper compliments in your ear and hold you close in between work, even at some points proudly proclaiming how outstandingly beautiful his encrusted gem is (No one is amused)

He makes you promise to let him dress you up more after you guys get back to home base, practically begs on his hands and knees, and you don’t have the heart to tell him no

His affectionate callings take on a new meaning after the Soyuz incident when you’re draped head to toe and in the most beautiful garbs Dracos can buy (and Yuzuriha can make with her limited supplies (;ﾞ°´ω°´))

No one is surprised when he’s got you at constant arm’s length on the trip back. You’re either wrapped in his arms or settled into his space, despite him controlling the ship back

He says it’s his reward, but you’re more than positive you would’ve been settled up like this regardless of how everything played out
