Leo stares down from the catwalk into the dimly lit and mostly empty theatre. The sound of a soft, slightly scared song floods his ears despite the lack of volume. He could say it was because there was no crowd, causing the sound to reverberate just to him, but he was beyond lying to himself.

The song came from the slightly shaky bunny working on the stage. His brushstrokes were messy as he painted some scenery. His singing was burdened as well, some words stuttered through.

This fear that was striking him was partially why Leo didn’t approach him the first time he heard the voice that gripped him so violently. The overworked, undervalued voice was teased by his fellow actors. Or, would be fellow actors if he wasn’t an understudy.

They told him stories about the theatre. They were the same stories that everyone using the theatre had told. There was a legend about the location. A ghost, no, a phantom, haunted it. Everyone feared the phantom. If the production wasn’t good enough, bad luck would befall any and all parts of the crew.

Being alone in mostly the dark, it would be easy to let thoughts run wild about what might be in it. When that what is actually a who, well, that who doesn’t really feel like he can approach.

As he continues to hear the singing though, he can’t take it anymore. The voice he hears is calling out to him without even knowing it. He has to take the chance to hear it up close.

“You have such a good voice.” He calls out from the darkness.

Usagi’s song ends in a scream as he drops his paintbrush. He whirls around in a panic to try to see who was talking to him.

“I’m sorry, I’m up here. You were doing so well with that painting….”

“C-Can you come out of wherever up there is? J-Just so I can be sure you’re….alive?”

Leo can’t help but laugh slightly.

“If I was dead, could I talk to you?”

“I-I have no idea how ghosts work. I-I’d feel a lot better if I could see you though!”

Leo touches his mask softly, considering his next movement carefully. As he sees Usagi grow more antsy, he knows what he must do. He grips the rope hanging beside the catwalk and hops off from the ledge of it. He slides down gracefully. The years of practicing this action even in complete darkness served him well.

His heart always held dramatic entrances within it.

He lands on the stage, his hand slowly slipping away from the rope. Usagi dazzles him from up close. He hadn’t been near anyone like this in so long.

“Oh thank god, you’re a person!….You are a person, right?” Usagi reaches out, gently touching Leo’s arm.

Leo’s eyes widen. The first touch he’s had in years, and it was by the owner of the voice he couldn’t get enough of.

Usagi jumps away like he wasn’t expecting to actually touch something solid.

“And I just realized that was weird! At least my hand didn’t go through you….could you maybe start talking again? I’m rambling.”

“I don’t really mind hearing you talk. I meant what I said about your voice. It’s unique, you know.”

“Thanks….uh….who are you? Don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t recognize you.”

Leo takes a slight bow.

“The so called phantom, at your service.”

“You? You’re the one people are making stories about?”

Leo stands up.

“Yes, emphasis on the made up. As you already figured out, I’m not as dead as the name makes me out to be.”

“Then….what are you doing here?”

“I like seeing the theatre at night. Normally no one else is here, but you are.”

Usagi sighs.

“I got casted as an understudy and everyone else pushed all this work onto me. They can kinda be jerks, especially Donnie. He rubs his role in my face all the time. I don’t even know what I did to him.”

Leo narrows his eyes at that. He already knew, but it annoyed him nonetheless. For now, there was nothing to be done. Only for now.

“Envy can make people act like idiots. They don’t know what they passed up, not casting you.”

“Not much I can do about it now but paint, and build, and whatever else they want….can….I ask you a favor?”

“It’s funny you ask when I don’t even know your name yet.”

Usagi tenses and smacks his forehead.

“Right! I’m Yuichi Usagi, sorry.” He moves his hand back out for Leo to shake.

Leo hesitantly does it. The second touch is much like the first. He isn’t sure how he feels, but it isn’t dislike, that is all he knows.

They soon let go.

“So, the favor……I don’t tell anyone you’re here, and you keep me company so I don’t think about the darkness. Deal?”

“That depends, will you still sing?”

“If that’s what it takes. Being here alone is just creepy.” He shudders.

Leo kneels down and picks up the paintbrush from the ground. He then holds it up to him.

“Not being alone is a wonderful feeling.”

Usagi smiles softly and takes the brush. He begins singing again as he paints, a much happier melody.

Leo sits next to him. His singing flows into his ear so clearly this time. It felt like being sat perfectly near an orchestra, the emotion deep in the song.

Leo wishes desperately that he could join him. He isn’t sure how to ask, but there is a craving that will not go away. It has to be fed before it gets any worse.

A thought comes to mind after some time has passed. He stands up and makes his way to the nearby piano. The singing slowly stops as Usagi realizes he’s not by his side anymore.

“Hey, where are you going?”

“Just thought I’d give you something to accompany your song.” Leo sits at the bench of the pipe organ situated near the stage.

“You can actually play that thing?” Usagi drops the paintbrush in the bucket and quickly walks over to him.

“I’ve had some experience.” Leo carefully begins pressing down on the keys.

Usagi is in awe at the sound coming out. He immediately doesn’t believe that it was just some experience. It had to be much more than that.

As the music carries through him, he decides to join in. He sits next to Leo and continues his song. Leo can’t help but smile widely. His mask mostly covers his face and expression, but it doesn’t matter. Usagi can tell how he feels through the music.

As the music he’s playing swells and Usagi’s voice only grows louder, he finally feels confident enough to sing with him. Usagi seems surprised but not upset.

They sing together until Leo finally plays the last notes. They breathe heavily from the exhaustion, both physical and emotional.

“That was amazing! You said my voice was good, but yours was beyond anything I’ve ever heard!”

“You just haven’t had the right person teach you. I could be that person, if you’d let me.”

“Are you kidding!? That would be awesome!” Usagi pulls Leo into a hug.

Leo’s breath hitches. The warmth coming from him and the softness of his fur sparks something in Leo’s mind. The emotions bubbling up from this one night alone were something he couldn’t give up. Satiating one craving was bringing on another.

He slowly hugs back, drinking in the attention he wasn’t going to let himself lose any time soon.

Usagi slowly let’s go of him and checks the time on his phone.

“Oh man, time really flew by. I should head home before my aunt gets worried. It was really nice to meet you though, phantom.” He chuckles softly.

“I’ll see you tomorrow night, right?”

“Yeah, of course! I mean unless somehow I get the main role and people stop treating me like the set designer, but even then I’d still come to tell you. You made this night a lot less terrifying. I wouldn’t just leave you hanging.”

Leo feels breathless. He tries not to get his hopes up, Usagi could so very easily not mean what he says. Anything could happen to make him not show up, to leave Leo alone once again.

Something about his eyes, his voice, they’re telling him it’s okay to want it to be true.

“Okay. Be careful going home.”

Usagi smiles widely at him, a dazzling smile.

“You too! Don’t stay here too late, get some sleep!” He slides off the organ bench.

Leo watches him carefully, noticing the hop in Usagi’s step that hadn’t been there before.

Only when he hears the door close does he release the breath he didn’t know he was holding.

He slowly stands up, the silence around him creeping in. It was the worst part of every single day of his life.

It would be different now.

His steps move towards the stage once again before he starts climbing the ladder to the catwalks.

Once up there, he slips into one of many secret entrances built into the theatre.

Leo’s heart ached still whenever he used them. He remembers building every single one with Melyna.

She wanted them for him.

They were a space just for him where he could be himself. He didn’t have to worry about any reactions to his maskless face.

She dreamed of something more for him. She wanted him to be on stage and act his heart out, sing until his throat was sore.

He hates with every fiber of his being that she would never see it happen.

Being abandoned once was hard enough, but having a permanent reminder of it made it all the worse.

Being abandoned twice was practically unbearable.

Even if it wasn’t on purpose, even if was out of Melyna’s control, he was still left alone.

He sits at his vanity table and stares into it.

His hand snakes up to the blue, star filled mask, slowly removing it and placing it down.

The burn scar on the left side of his face marred the red marking that was housed there. He had a similar one on the right side, but they hadn’t been identical since before he could remember.

Melyna had found him in the wreckage of a burned down lab. He could only guess that was how he became disfigured.

The scar tissue was the only blemish in his otherwise very smooth face. Though, the red markings made him feel insecure as well.

Kappa didn’t have markings like these. He was far from normal even without his burns and past tragedy.

Better make that tragedies.

The one other kappa he has seen with any kind of markings still didn’t haven’t the same ones.

His were purple, blocky.

Leo’s blood simmered in annoyance when it came to that kappa. Like everyone else, he couldn’t see the perfection that came from Usagi.

Looking at the mirror, that’s what he focused on the most.

He was far less than perfect both inside and out.

Usagi though, he was the closest to it that he had ever seen. His fluffy white fur was absolutely pristine. He was kind to basically everyone. Once he was just a little more vocally trained he would fit his role spectacularly.

Of course, he’d have to make sure he would get the role. It wouldn’t be hard in the slightest.

He takes one more look at himself before placing the mask back on his face.

He had his own role to play.

Every single production at this theatre, his theatre, had to be the best it could possibly be. He wouldn’t settle for any less.

Why should he?

He’s been dealt a bad hand for nearly every round of life he’s played.

Watching a production sully the name of the place his guardian had put her whole life into wouldn’t be part of his bad luck.

In fact, this would be the best opera anyone had ever seen.

Or else.

we never really touched on Usagi's backstory besides that his parents entrusted auntie with taking care of him, so I often wonder, if the show had been given a longer episode run, like maybe 30, 40, maybe even 26 instead of 20 - could we have seen more character backstories in general? Cuz there's also Kitsune, who's backstory we don't know at all, and then Gen and Toshiko, who we see explain their story a bit in bits and pieces through-out the 2 seasons. The fact that Usagi immediately goes back to his auntie, because he knows Hana would be safe from the ninja there, says a lot about how much he trusts his auntie. like the show makes it feel like he might actually be the most fleshed-out of all the characters, but his story is hidden almost as much as Kitsune's. I sorta get the reasoning there - their personalities already serve to tell their story a lot, Usagi is a big fan of his own ancestor and idolizes him, while Kitsune is a street-thief and grifter before we see Usagi bump into her puppet-cart and ruin her evening plans. The audience can get a lot of info out of just context-clues, but Kitsune and Usagi are also characters who are most easy to read at first, so we don't get their backstories really explored or opened the same way as Chizu or Gen, because, I can only guess, those stories don't seem to directly tie into the two larger arcs shown during the 10+10 episodes. But lol, would still like to know more, where are the activity books and character pages? a little side novel maybe? why did the age of flash games with extra info have to end before this show aired lol, if only Netflix spent money on that sort of stuff too, maybe we'd have more info besides just the shows on their own 😂😂😅

More theories and rambling below :D

My theory about Usagi's parents is that they died in one of the wars mentioned by some of the older characters in the show :) Cliche, I know! but it seems to sorta make sense. Could have been many other reasons too of course! Maybe they went to the city to find or do something related to the family business or history, but found their end somehow. One of my other theories is that there were gang wars in Neo Edo, around 10-14 years before the series starts. Maybe they found their end there? We don't even know how old his parents would have been, but judging by auntie's look and how she speaks and acts, maybe she's like, around 60-ish? she has raised her nephew for 15 years, meaning since she was around 45, so maybe her sister/brother would have been around 35-40 something when they died. I personally headcanon that it's his mom, who is the Miyamoto family member here, so maybe his dad really was a farmer by birth and thus, the family did not have a name anymore (they've always preferred staying in hiding after Miyamoto died) and that's why they gave him the name Yuichi Usagi with meaning... related to that earlier Senso-connected theory I had ^^;

The "big" wars, mentioned by Lady Fuwa and Armiral Nochi, being recent makes sense tho. bc even though a 1000 years have gone past and Edo (our real-world Tokyo) in this world has been able to embrace some more advanced tech (courtesy of the Ki-stone), perhaps even alien tech, depending on how you view what happened with Miyamoto Usagi in the show's past, some of the culture and tech has sort of stayed in the Edo period. This is mainly because the show creators and staff wanted to keep both Edo sensibilities as well as modern tech and create an interesting fusion on an artistic and story level. One of the older interviews from last year mentions that the crew was inspired by Stan's 2015 story Senso - that what if Edo got to take all that alien tech and use it for themselves? From one of Stan's answers in this 2022 Popverse interview:

"They took one of my stories – Senso, a miniseries I did where Martians invade feudal Japan – and wondered what if they took some of the technology they got from those Martians, how would it affect their society generations down the line?

That was the premise, with the story taking place in a city called Neo-Edo; with Edo being the old name for Tokyo, the capital of Japan. It also takes a lot from Japanese culture, such as vending machines, pachinko parlors, karaoke bars, and things like that. It integrated everything, the old and the new, and I’m quite happy about that."

So the wars would make sense to be more recent because to me, it seems that maybe with this tech, from a story-world level, they should be further along the line than having just flying cars and airships, right? But wars are one of those things that always and if Edo didn't have those outside influences that we had, maybe they wouldn't have some things, i.e. we don't see phones or trains on the show vs the phone boom we had in the 1980s in the real world and the hi-speed train rails japan is known for now. So they probably would have also missed out on the 60s Space Race between the US and the Soviet Union, which popularized the 1960s "space age aesthetic" for example, which is what we might think of when trying to remember 60s tech and fashion. So the show creates its own retrofuturism in trying to consider all these different elements.

I wonder if they even considered some cultural things that stuck and became popular before and after the US occupation, such as baseball Harley Davidsons and jazz - what would those be like in the world they created around the city of Neo Edo?

We see some semblances of what we could call western influences in how Gen installs new kitchenware in episode 5, how Kitsune looks like she could be a 1970s Harajuku girl, how Admiral Nochi and the Bat Squadron dress etc. It's an interesting balance throughout the show and thinking about it more just makes me more curious about it haha.

Maybe what happened with the Makkine a 1000 years ago is that a few sentries arrived with Kagehito's ship. Because of the surprise Kagehito expresses about the makkine warbotto self-replicating in the present (the s2 warbotto ep), we can surmise that they didn't back then, so they didn't replicate. Did they leave any ships? In the first season, Kagehito's ship is underground and covered by hundreds of years of rubble and rock. The Mogura Gang helping him then, actually find gold before they find his ship. So if any ships did come through with him those 1000 years ago, it seems that they did not "park" into the same place, or, likely that whatever happened, they were used up by locals.

The show is also quite fast-paced in reality, as we can see from how each episode jumps from POV to POV, or topic to topic and we get a lot of info in a short time, so to me it seems that the story crew REALLY crunched every bit of important info, story or jokes into the episodes, but just, didn't have more time to show or do anything about Usagi's parents.

lol what I'm doing to avoid more brainworms like this is to.... I guess continue writing my fanfic where I try to solve this (the main storyline from the comic i posted haha), but I also realized while writing this... I am waiting to see if I can get one of the new books coming out this or next year that bridges the stories/worlds between Yokai Hunter and Space Usagi, to see if there might be some new connections to be from there about Space Usagi in general, but maybe there could be something there nodding back to SR as well? maybe the new character is inspired by that or somehow bridges those things? lol a fan can hope ;D

Of course this is the first thing I post for the ROTTMNT fandom. XD So recently I’ve seen a lot of rise!Usagi concepts show up in the ROTTMNT tag and I wanted to do one of my own. At the time all I knew about Usagi was how he was portrayed in the 2003 TMNT show and all the Rise fanart I’ve been seeing. But then I found out more about his comic origins and saw his interpretation in the 2012 show… Basically my opinion has changed and I personally don’t really vibe with the teenage Rise!Miyamoto concept anymore. No disrespect to anyone who vibes with that concept though it’s just a me thing. I have another concept for Rise!Miyamoto Usagi though that is more accurate to his comic counterpart that you will know more about once I post his ref. But, I still really liked the idea of that teen samurai concept and then I remembered a certain other samurai rabbit that was in the same universe. Yuichi Usagi is from a show on Netflix called Samurai Rabbit : The Usagi Chronicles. He is a descendant of Miyamoto Usagi and let me tell you when I saw the first episode all I could think was, “dang he and Rise!Leo would vibe so much.” Like no joke they actually have so much in common. AND PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE I HAVE SEEN WHO HAS WATCHED THIS SHOW AND IS A FAN OF RISE HAS SAID THE SAME THING SOOOOO… In my Rise!AU his personality and overall backstory isn’t too different from his original show. Except for the fact that instead of being a yokai hunter, he himself is a Yokai. I’ve always wondered about how the Yokai community is in Japan compared to how it is in New York in the show so I was thinking that most likely instead of Yokai there only having a hidden city they basically have an entire hidden country under the entirety of Japan. The only name I can think of at the moment for it is calling it the hidden kingdom. So if you guys have any better names send me an ask. I think I’ll end my ramble about Yuichi here for now. I’ll reveal some more stuff about him in my au in other posts because this is getting too long. If you got questions about this au don’t be afraid to ask!

Personality

Mar seems closed off and cold most of the time, though not very intimidating. Her real personality shines through when she's around people she cares about or doing something she loves; quite spunky and energetic. She isn't afraid to challenge people when their ideals clash, or to keep her friends safe. Mar is extremely passionate about anything relating to music or the ocean; she could ramble for hours.

Background

Mar comes from a well-off family that is famous for both their musical talent and the fact that they only ever have daughters. A son has never been born in the Westenra family.

Her father, Alphonse Velour, was a sailor, who tragically died in a shipwreck just days after his youngest daughter was born. Her mother, Lucinda, is convinced the wreck was caused by merfolk, and ever since the incident has forbidden her daughters from having anything to do with the sea. Mar actively defied her mother's wishes, having inherited her father's love of the ocean.

At age eleven, she made contact with a young eel mer, one Jade Leech, just off the town's coast. When her mother found out about this, she paid a traveling mage to remove Mar's memory of that moment.

Unique Magic

Mar's unique magic is called "Song From the Heart". Using it, she can change and add to any sound that she herself creates. For example, making the piano she's playing sound like a trumpet, modifying her own voice, or turning the sound of her tapping foot into an entire drumline.

Trivia

Mar's name comes from a bastardization of the word 'marvelous'. Separately, her first and last names also have significant meaning (though completely accidentally), 'mar' meaning 'sea' in Spanish, and 'velour' being a type of fabric.

Mar's legal last name is Westenra, but she uses her father's bachelor name, Velour, outside of her hometown.

"Song From The Heart" tends to activate on its own sometimes, usually if Mar is feeling strong emotions. During these moments she has her own soundtrack!

She's considered dyeing her bangs several times, but when Vil brought it up she decided then and there that she wouldn't, just to spite him

Mar cannot cook for the life of her. She's not as bad as Lilia, but it's SO CLOSE sometimes. She's been banned from every kitchen on campus without supervision.

Its actually funny, i cant remember ANYTHING from the movie. I have literally only watched it once and that was like 6 months ago. Im not exactly sure WHY i even enjoyed it so much, from what i remember i thought the movie was weird and too loud for me (and kind of obnoxious sometimes) but then again i was experiencing it with my uncle so it must've lowered that a bit.

I've known invader zim ever since it aired on Nickelodeon i think? i use to sometimes watch it when it would air? I dont actually remember. sadly i cant remember what i ever thought of the show nor remember any episodes. i think i was like 'oh invader zim is on? i guess ill watch it' Then again I was also a child watching the show. Aside from the airings only a few years ago i would SOMETIMES watch it when eating dinner (specifically from hulu) I was never into it and i just thought it was something to watch while eating food.

When the movie got announced in 2017 i remember being excited for it? i vaugely remember saying how cool it is and how i loved the artstyle. And how i would LOVE to watch it when it comes out. I never really thought of anything else of it, i just thought itd be fun to watch with someone. It took like until 2020 to FINALLY watch it. The only reason i watched it was because according to my uncle it was pretty good (and my brother as well) I wouldnt even bothered watching the movie if it wasnt because my uncle was watching it with me.

When watching it i didnt recognize some characters... Its actually funny, i didnt even know who minimoose was and I was so confused who he was when watching the movie since i didnt recognize him from the show ( appenretly i only watched a few episodes of the first season?) But then again that didnt bother me at all, i just though it was a movie to watch with someone.

I Thought the movie was...whatever? it was a cool movie to watch with someone and i didnt really think anything else from it. The only reason I actually bothered looking at the invader zim fandom was because zadr.

When watching the movie i would always joke about ZIM X DIB!!!! WOWWWW THEY R MARRIED!!!! (sad i know) and (SADLY) after the movie finished i looked up zim x dib amv and videos to watch with my uncle and would laugh about it. I cant rmemeber any of the amv's i watched but i do rmember an inimoose drawing being in one of them and clearly rmember my uncle saying "why is he so tall????" <<talking about dib; specifically the one where zim is being pinned by dib from a locker<< and i just remember thinking the art being weird since dib looked like an anime boy. I would also look up other "zim x dib" stuff becuase i just wanted to be "cringy" with my uncle since i thought that was really funny. (spoilers: it wasn't)

when looking up amvs i was really confused about what the ship name was. I would always think "what is the ship name spelled???? it cant be zib or dim" that had actually kept me up at night until i looked it up a day or two after watching the movie. i just remember it finding out it was called "zadr" and literally the first thing i did with that information was look it up on tumblr.

On 2020 November 1st (or 2nd?) the fire nation attacked. When seeing it in the tags i was SO surprised by how many posts their were in the tags. i actually ended up scrolling for like. 30 minutes. after scrolling all i thought was "wowww this ship is actually pretty cool :)" And the first thing i reblogged that was invader zim was art by coconut...something? im so sorry i forgot their name. (it was also zadr)

The second one i ever reblogged was by bamsara, that fireworks comic. i thought it was SO CUTE and they where actually the first invader zim artist i actually followed. After finding about that comic and his other art from the zadr tags i was really interested in his au! So i actually looked up zadr in their blogged and was basically bombarded with a BUNCH of content. So in like one day, i learned about ALOT of their au and i loved it alot honestly. After a few days i actually read their fanfic and binged the whole series up to that day and i loved it SO MUCH; its so good.

It was actually because of bamsara i read and even like zadr or invader zim, im really thankful for his content :) I would just. stalk the zadr tags on tumblr and after reading bamsara series i started reading fanfictions from ao3. Actually aside from bamsara one of the first fanfics i read was from hamletmustdie because that comic someone made comic of their prom fic. (found out about it from stalking the tags, or if bamsara reblogged it? i dont remember)

Then after reading hamletmustdie's fic i binge read all their zadr fics as well.... i love reading them- they honestly inspire me greatly for even writing.

Because of hamletmustdie and bamsara i kind of just im the fandom i guess? And becuase of their works in the fandom i kind of know about things. I still dont really know anything about the comics and the show, but i have been VERY VERY slowly watching it again (Originally i thought zib was some fan chatacter). I find the comedy pretty funny now and i think i would now actually enjoy the movie :)

Maybe I'll write it:) Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why. I've abandoned the HP fandom. I still like the books, but I kinda grew out of it...? (And into anime😇) R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom? Uhm... In which one? If I'm going with FT, my favourite friendship is GrayLu. In FMA, it's a tie... I love Roy/Hughes brotp and Al/Ed brotp. In Haikyuu... Damn they're too many to choose! But I'd say the Karasuno third years: they have such a tight-knit bond!! And in AssClass it would be Karma/Okuda (it's canon in my mind but friendship in the manga). I just love how easygoing they are. Also, I love Karma/Nagisa in the second half. S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged) Hmm... There are many. My fetish is seeing people sleep: I think you can tell alot about their inner selfes from the position they use when sleeping and from their habits, because they can't control or put up a façade when it comes to that. So my headcanon is that despite being loud and obnoxious, Natsu actually occupies less space than Lucy when sleeping: he takes a baby-posture, while she lashes all over the bed, sometimes punching him im sleep unintentionately. Natsu learnt to deal with it: he actually likes holding Lucy close to make sure she's safe while sleeping. She doesn't mind, especially not during winter. Oh and they also cuddle with a cup of hot coffee in their hands during the morning. Just an after-thought~~ T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending? I do! I don't care if you agree or not, but Karma can be sweet, okay? Like he can actually be a good boyfriend (tho maybe a bit possessive). He's the best at telling what's on Okuda's mind and he always buys her toffee when she's feeling down. Oh and also, Riza is a very good mother, always putting her family first. Just letting you know. U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites. Yes!! 1)Karma-assassination classroom. He's that one character that believes he's the best, only to get proven that he can be wrong. What's evenbegter is how he has room to develop and grow to be a better person... Plus, it seems I have a thing for evil goofballs. 2)This is a hard one, but Ed/Roy-Fullmetal Alchemist. I abso-freaking-lutely love all the characters in FMA, but these two attracted my attention. Ed because of how he thinks, how he wants to do good deeds in spite of his thorny exterior and how he miserably fails. I love the way he admits his failures and the way he deals with them can be childish (he's 14, for God's sake!) but he learns from them. Also, Roy because even though he went through Ishval, he still dreams of making the world a better place. I can respect a man who doesn't step over the ethics just to achieve that dream and who always bends and avoides hurting others, while never giving up. Maybe it's a dream, but I very much resonate with it. 3) Lucy from FT. She's the one character in Fairy Tail that has enough of a backstory and is weak enough to evolve. Moreover, she's not your typical girl: yes, she cares about how she looks, because she IS an woman, but she also cares about what's on the inside. She cares about her friends more than anything and even without being the strongest mage, still puts herself in danger for them. I love her resolve and her cute side, too. V - Which character do you relate to most? Hmm... Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran Highschool Host Club. Haruhi is the type to do things on her own and she repells the help of others to do her thing, which I also tend to do. Also, she shoulders a lot of her worries by herself. Plus, she never judges people on appearance and doesn't care about her own (being a girl, that's rare and helps me relate all the more). I just love her😍 (and sometimes am compared to her by my friends). W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom. Whiny female protagonist. I'm not a feminist or anything, but I've had enough of that! Yes, we all want a prince charming, but we can carry ourselves, thank you very much. X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom. Someone pursuing their dreams. Also, I love genre deconstructions (browny points if it's comedic). Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)? Voltron and Yuri on Ice (I feel like I've watched this shows even though I haven't). Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! (Prompts optional but encouraged.) Don't tempt me, I will! ( I kinda have this whole post tho) Okay so I'll rant about FMA because I feel it doesn't get all he love it deserves!!! (And because I refrained from fangirling on it up to now) And since we're talking FMA, let's talk Roy Mustang (you knew this would come). Roy is just one of those very strong people that are actually just goofballs on the interior and need love. Seriously, let's take a look at what this guy went through, ok? He's an orphan, but he never complains and learnt to love his cousins (sisters) and aunt (mom). He was taught by a pretty crazy (very talented, but Hawkeye did have a screw loose for inscripting a tatoo on Riza's back and you can't convince me otherwise) alchemist, and yet he managed to become the next flame alchemy. Despite being told not to, he joined the military with a childish dream and even after learning of the harsh reality in the Ishval war, he still went on believing that he can make the country a better place. Yet he's not perfect: he can lose his temper when it comes to those he loves (Mustang being killed) and he doesn't want any more people to die. He cheerisbes his team and wants to keep them all safe. He can be a cheapskate and also a bit of an annoying guy with Ed, and he can be obnoxious, yet funny as hell (tiny miniskirts!!!) Above all, Mustang feels HUMAN! Yes, he puts up a great act, but it's an *act*. He has a more sensitive side and you better not mess with it, or he'll burn you to ashes. This concludes the short version of my Roy Mustang appeciation post. Also, I have some headcanons about him being best dad (and his child being a daddy's girl/boy because of it) and of being a pretty intimidating Führer. Okay but listen: Nitocris but as a modern person in the Shaman King universe. Still can see/has an affinity for ghosts, still has a bunch of medjeds as her spirit allies and maybe Ozy too if we must give her an Actual Ghost of a Person, and at the start of the manga goes to the same school as Yoh and the gang. Probably meets them there or in the qualifiers for the Shaman Fight. Not sure how her OS would work with the medjeds but I mean, Silva’s got a bunch of spirits he Oversouls with at once in his test match with Yoh so I mean - *a shepherd’s crook appears out of nowhere and whisks me off stage*
