Cine online: These Things Take Time (2018)

El señor Wiley (Jason Heymann) es de esos maestros que aman la docencia, siempre tiene una sonrisa en su rostro, celebran los aciertos de sus alumnos y se despide de ellos uno por uno, saludándolos como si fuesen sus mejores amigos. Por eso es que el pequeño Zander (Zackary Arthur, uno de los protagonistas de la serie "Chucky"), ansía fervientemente mantener su puesto en el primer banco, adonde pueda admirar con mayor cercanía y participar activamente de la clase.

Su hiperactiva compañera Kayla (Meilee Condron) da por sentado que es su novio, pero Zander solo tiene ojos para su maestro. Hasta que, un mal día, su "novia" discute con su compañerito Conner (Makana Say) y, en castigo, el Sr. Wiley decide que Zander tome el puesto de Conner. Desde entonces hará todo lo que crea posible por recuperar su antiguo lugar.

Jerell Rosales, creador estadounidense de origen filipino, derrocha ternura con un cuento sobre la para nada extraña situación de un estudiante que se enamora de su maestro. Una circunstancia que puede atravesar un chico de ocho años (como Zander) u otro de dieciocho, porque el enamoramiento no espera ni excluye a nadie.

These past few days has been extremely difficult and I don’t know where I’d be without my amazing family and my friends. This trip to Chicago was one of the most painful experiences. Recently my amazing loving mother passed away and it’s been such a blow to my family. Now losing both of my parents is a hard pill to swallow. Sometimes I feel guilty being away from my family and usually only visiting once a year. My mother was such a generous woman. I just wish my future children would have been able to experience how amazing their grandparents were. I’m truly grateful for everyone that’s has reached out to me and have seriously been here for me during this difficult time.
