2. what sort of music would they like? have you thought about what genres or bands do they lean towards? do they have a favorite song?

He listens to pretty much anything that he can stick on as background noise without distracting him from working. But if he's in the mood for moping Howl's Moving Castle style, then it would be to 'Hab' Mir's Gelobt' (aka the final trio) from Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss. It's the culmination of a love triangle.

If I had to associate a song with him in terms of what reminds me of him, it would be Count Grassi's Passage Over Piedmont by The Divine Comedy. I'd love to write a one shot of him based on this song, as I could imagine him feeling truly free in a hot air balloon and happily tossing the picnic basket over the side to gain more height. 'If I were to die, then let it be in summertime, in a manner of my own choosing...'

7. favourite animal? Why?

The way I unhesitatingly said 'frog spawn'. The whole life cycle of a frog is the closest he can get to watching cells divide in real time, as well as them being an evolutionary microcosm. He loves to watch tiny gelatinous blobs turn into wriggly waterborne life forms, who then eventually sprout legs and flee to land. And freedom.

23. how would you describe their voice? can they sing?

Average singing voice. Neither particularly sweet nor tone deaf. I kind of imagine his speaking voice to be reminiscent of a young Jude Law. Not quite as well-spoken as his Bosie Douglas but not quite as Londoner as his Gigolo Joe.

34. how would your character describe themselves? it doesn't have to line up with how they really are

Indolent renaissance man.

A few bonus ones (I've tried to pick the least obvious ones though some of the questions made me a little sad for him like how did he spend childhood summers and will he ever go home)

are they associated with a certain color? what color do they wear the most?

Dark navy-teal blue, the kind reminiscent of old Swedish palaces. Basically this colour. He often wears his signature velvet frock coat in this colour, highlighted with embroidery in silver thread.

3. weapon of choice? any particular reason they chose their weapon?

Length of pipe, spanner, violin, wine bottle, monkey wrench, easel, welding torch...basically whatever he can get his hands on, since he doesn't customarily carry a weapon. He is skilled with a rapier, but that's just for fun. He generally doesn't enjoy fighting.

12. how long have they been around? do you know their birthday? is their birthday the day you made them or another day? what do they think of celebrating birthdays?

Officially his first chapter was published on 23rd July. But for some reason I keep gravitating back to 25th May as his birthday. So it's that, I guess. Birthdays are bittersweet because it isn't really a birthday in the traditional or biological sense. He doesn't celebrate them, since he never expects anyone to remember them, plus they're slightly meaningless amidst the segments. Consequently he will feel quite touched if someone goes to the trouble of remembering. But he takes a quiet pleasure in the fact that it's his and not Dottore's.

22. do they sleep well at night?

He is very nocturnal, but not through insomnia, rather it's his most productive time of the day. It's easier to concentrate. But if he goes to sleep, he sleeps soundly for the most part.

30. do they smell like anything notable?

Citrus cologne masking either engine oil or linseed oil depending on whether he's been painting or engineering. And cigarettes.

I've been reading your works now and then, and i gotta say its all really enjoyable. This is my first time making a req, but i've always imagined dottore not wanting to let his wife go even in death, so he when she dies bcuz of a fatui mission or smth dottore goes 'no☠️' and just revives she and makes her some kind of zombie?? Its the type that has stiches around their body. So dottore can go like 'hey bbg r u hurt let me fix u up!!🥰❤️'

The Fatui headquarters was eerily silent, save for the faint hum of machines in Dottore’s lab. He stood hunched over a surgical table, his gloved hands trembling slightly as he worked with meticulous precision.

You lay there, lifeless yet beautiful, even in death. The wounds from the failed mission that claimed your life were gruesome, but to him, they were merely challenges to overcome.

"No," he muttered to himself, voice laced with desperation. "I won't let you go. Not now. Not ever."

His segments watched from the shadows, each with varying expressions. Theta tilted his head, curious and unbothered. Omega, the eldest and most stoic, crossed his arms but said nothing. Zeta adjusted his glasses, clearly uneasy but unwilling to interrupt.

“Is this wise?” Zeta finally dared to ask.

Dottore didn’t even glance up. “Wise or not, it’s necessary. She belongs with me.”

The process took days. Dottore refused to rest, his focus singular. He replaced damaged organs, stitched torn muscles, and mended broken bones with care that bordered on obsessive.

Finally, the moment came. With a surge of electro energy coursing through your body, your chest rose as if taking in a breath for the first time. Your eyes fluttered open, hazy but alive. Dottore leaned over you, his mask discarded for once, his crimson eyes burning with intensity.

“Welcome back, my love.”

At first, waking up was disorienting. Your body felt different, your movements were stiffer and the faint pull of stitches reminded you of your altered state.

“I… I’m alive?” you asked, voice hoarse.

“Yes,” Dottore said, a rare softness in his tone as he cupped your cheek. “You’re alive, and you’re mine once more, forever.”

You looked down at your hands, noticing the faint lines of stitches trailing across your wrists. “What… what did you do, Dottore?”

“I saved you,” he said simply, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. “You didn’t think I’d let you leave me, did you?”

Despite the situation, you couldn’t help but stare at him, still processing your current situation. “But I'm.. different.”

“So? You’re still perfect as ever,” he countered, pressing a kiss to your forehead.

The segments, of course, had varying opinions about your resurrection.

Theta held your hand and placed it along his cheek, grinning as he stared at you in awe. “Does this mean she’s indestructible now? Can I test it?”

He earned a sharp glare from Dottore and a flick on the forehead from you.

Omega tilted his head and hummed. “It’s unnatural, but.. I suppose it was inevitable, given his obsession. Either way, as long as I am able to see them again. I am fine with it."

Zeta smiled as he handed you a glass of water to drink, looking over the stitches the doctor has done and nodded in satisfaction at how methodically well it was stitched. “At least she seems to be adjusting well. And.. she does make the lab feel more cheerful.”

You smiled and laughed at their bickering, grateful for their unique personalities and happy to have them with you. Dottore deciding to ignore his segments as he focused his gaze on you, caressing your cheek adoringly.

Living as a stitched-together version of yourself was an adjustment but Dottore’s unwavering love made it easier.

One evening as you sat in his lab patching up a tear in your arm, he walked over with a smirk.

“Hello, my love,” he teased, crouching in front of you as he held up a needle and thread up in his hand and grinned. “Are you hurt? Let me fix you up.”

You rolled your eyes but handed him the needle. “You’re so dramatic.”

“And yet, you adore me for it,” he replied, his hands deftly repairing the stitches with the same care he’d shown during your resurrection.

Though your body was different, your love for each other remained unchanged. If anything, it deepened. You had always known Dottore’s devotion ran deep, but seeing the lengths he’d go to keep you by his side was overwhelming.

One night, as you lay together in his quarters, his arms wrapped around you protectively, you traced a finger over the stitches on your stomach.

“Does this bother you?” you asked softly.

He frowned, pulling you closer. “No. It reminds me that you’re here. With me. That’s all that matters.”

You smiled, pressing a kiss to his jaw. “You’re crazy.. going this far as resurrecting me is ridiculously mad.”

“And what of it? You’re mine. Even in death, we shall never part,” he whispered, his voice filled with uncharacteristic tenderness as he pressed a kiss to your forehead.

In Dottore’s eyes, you were perfection, stitched together, alive, and irrevocably his and only his.

Small info about Theta/ the theta build

- they’re a segment but more organic

-they were an experimental segment causing them to not completely be a version of Dottore

- more like his kid in a sense ..???

- their age is around 15 (physically) however they’ve been around for a long while

In the given diagram, there are $5$ points $A, B, C, D$ and $E$ on the circumference of the circle such that $\angle ABC = \angle BCD = \angle CDE = 45^{\circ}$ and $O$ is the center of the circle.

Sectors made by $AB$ and $DE$, and area of the circle between $BC$ and $CD$ are highlighted in green. Area of the circle between $AB$ and $BC$, and between $CD$ and $DE$ are highlighted in red.

Which area is bigger, the area highlighted in red or the area highlighted in green?

This was sent to me by someone. While I solved the problem (given below), the sender said that the source solution arrived at the conclusion that points $A$, $O$ and $E$ are collinear and $OC \perp AE$, so $\displaystyle \angle OCB = \angle OCD = \frac{45^{\circ}}{2}=22.5^{\circ}$. While I agree with points being collinear and $OC \perp AE$ but that cannot obviously be the reason for the angles being equal. In fact the solution does not depend on them being equal as we can see. I am seeking help in establishing $\angle OCB = \angle OCD$ if that is indeed true, which I cannot see how one can conclude based on what is given.

My solution: Say, $\angle OCB = \theta$. Then, $\angle ACB = \angle OCD = (45^{\circ}-\theta)$ and $\angle DCE = \theta$.

Segment $AB= \displaystyle r^2 \left[\frac{\pi}{4}-\theta-\sin(45^{\circ}-\theta)\cos(45^{\circ}-\theta)\right]$ Segment $DE= \displaystyle r^2 \left[\theta-\sin \theta \cos \theta\right]$

$\triangle OBC = r^2 \sin \theta \cos \theta$ $\triangle ODC = r^2 \sin(45^{\circ}-\theta)\cos(45^{\circ}-\theta)$

Section $BOD = \dfrac{\pi}{4} r^2$

Adding all of the above, total area in green $= \dfrac{\pi}{2} r^2$. So the red area has to be the same too.

In addition to my question on $OC$ being bisector of $\angle BCD$, let me also know if any of you have a simpler solution.

Came here just to say how much I miss Theta.

It's the first time I mourn the death of the fanfic' OC like HELL WHY YOU DID HIM SO FINE THE PERFECT HUSBAND MATERIAL

I honestly had no idea how popular he would end up being among the reader base. I initially just wanted a 'safe' manifestation of Dottore for Reader to interact with and then...well, Theta happened.

Although he bears no similarities of character, for some reason I kept thinking of Ariel from The Tempest when I wrote him. I wanted to convey that slightly ethereal and sprite-like quality to him, almost like he's translucent and intangible. Ariel is imprisoned in a tree by a witch but is then rescued by the magician Prospero, who then takes him as his familiar. Ariel eventually wins his freedom.

And true to form, Theta broke everybody's heart, including mine. Always just slipping out of our grasp.

I was listening to Domestic Life by King Missile and was contemplating the whole 'author confronted by his characters' scenario (which reminds me, I should finally get around to starting Pirandello's 'Six Characters in Search of an Author').

I wondered how drily amused Theta would be to learn that he had not one, but two creators; one of whom had fashioned him with great love and care, and the other who used him as a extension of himself and a bargaining chip in a greater gambit. I'd like to think that he and I would be great friends who could talk to each other about pretty much anything, but each remaining respectfully in their own orbit. I hope he would draw some comfort in knowing that at least one of his creators cherished him dearly and was sad about how his tale ended.

I wish there was a way I could grant him his freedom.

This is a Theta Segment OC/Pantalone fic, 4k, rating mature (no smut).

The Theta Segment is commissioned to paint Pantalone, his unrequited love interest. They have their first sitting session together.

I don't normally read or write ships fics involving other characters, but I wrote this as a request as part of an art/fic gift exchange with Zandikaal.

Theta Information: (under the cut)

Theta was orginally built as an ordinary segment. however something went wrong.

not wanting to waste materials Dottore utlizied this opportunity to make a more biological segment, curious to what would happen

being a segment they are incapable of aging, however they share the same strength and rank

being an experiment they weren't allowed to be in charge of other important fatui business that Dottore does other than being an assistant

In addition they were usually around the older segments, mainly to keep an eye on Theta

This stayed like this for awhile, then roughly 7 years before the main timeline Theta was allowed to go explore on their own.

Early in their own exploration they broke their face and refused to go back, fearful it would be a sign of weakness

during their own exploration they got bored fast, finding disinterest in a lot of things, they then began looking for an experiment or just anything to excite them!

they met the traveler in between the end of inazuma archon quest and the beginning of the Sumeru archon quest

I plan to draw put their interactions with the traveler, and some other things as well!

Personality and such

They take a little after webtoon Dottore based on their age, Theta often gets bored fast and only wants to do things that may interest them (ex: experiments)

Like webttore if they get "annoyed/bothered" they're prone to having an emotional outburst

because they only want to do things out of their own interest and curiosity they often get labelled as "selfish"

I will explain this in a later post as the creation of Theta stems from in game lore and my own theories because of the amount of Dottore lore we have

their age very much effects how they act they do like to cause minor and small trouble + mischeif

they try so hard to be independent at times but a good lot of those times they also need help from the older segments as well

Theta desperately desires praise and acknowledge meant from Dottore prime(the original) and segements close to that age range

they are also a bit mentally weak, which makes it a bit easier for Dottore exhibit control over Theta

Think of it as a kid being super well behaved around their parent but causes so much chaos when the parent isn't around

Because of this weakness and desire for praise they often appear as arrogant to make up for this. In many ways they are similar to Asuka from NGE
