So I was tagged by @thewillowfarm to do this thing, and as much as I hate to seem like a copy cat, I will also be doing the Moody Blues. Because I lov them
1. Introduce them: Hokay. So, the Moody Blues started in Birmingham (the one in England obv) in the mid 60s and were an R&B group that wore snazzy blue suits and had exactly One (1) hit: ‘Go Now!’ But due to lineup changes and the fact that they only managed that one hit, they ended up ditching the R&B thing to do... something else. That something else turned out to be weird wonderful psychedelic music when they made ‘Days of Future Passed’ (even tho they were supposed to be doing a rock version of the New World Symphony). And thus the Moody Blues as we know them were born! The classic lineup of this period was Justin Hayward (guitar), John Lodge (bass), Ray Thomas (flute and various other things), Mike Pinder (keyboards), and Graeme Edge (drums). All of them but Graeme sing.
2. When did you get into them: Late March of 2016 I think. Just kinda, a lot of signs had been saying “go listen to these nerds” for a while, but that’s when I took the plunge
3. What drew your attention: ’Gemini Dream’ was bop (that was the first song I was conscious was the Moodies), but beyond that. The harmonies and the very layered instrumentation. Their music is some of the most colorful music I’ve ever heard (fun fact, sometimes I interpret sounds as colors), and ‘Days of Future Passed’ is literally the most colorful album I’ve ever heard. It’s wonderful!
4. Favorite thing about them: Can I say everything? Because like, idk if I can pick just one thing to be my favorite. Like I said before, the harmonies, and the instrumentation, the fuckening Mellotron and Ray’s flute. The way that every single song on “Days of Future Passed’ has it’s own distinct color. Idk man
5. Is there anything you dislike about them? I’m not terribly fond of their 80s stuff beyond ‘Long Distance Voyage’. It’s not as colorful.
6. Tell us a little-known fact. Um. Wow, why is it whenever someone asks me for a random Moody fact I forget literally all of them? Uhhhhh, apparently Graeme had Mike read most of the spoken word bits because he felt his own voice was too squeaky at the time
7. Tell us how much you love them: I! LOVE! THEM! I LOV THEM SO MUCH! THEY ARE SUCH WONDERFUL GOOD BOYS AND I LOOOOOOOVE THEM. Especially Graeme!! He is smol and he is drum and he is so good!!!
8. Is there anything you associate with them? A couple of really wonderful peops on here. The entirety of my junior year of college (and a bit of my sophomore year, where they kinda became my mental lifeboat). Feeling happy and excited.
9. How do they make you feel? so many. Like, it really depends on the song. They can make me feel happy, pumped up and ready for anything, chill, content, okay. If I close my eyes on the right songs, like I’m floating in space. I feel safe listening to them, it’s comforting
10. Free Space! Anything you want to add, anything goes! promote them, have they inspired you to do anything?, favorite ________ from them, little things that make you squee….anything. :D
GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! I LOV HIM AND HIS SMOLNESS AND HIS DRUMNESS. HE IS FABULOUS AND MAKES QUESTIONABLE FASHION CHOICES AND I LOVE HIM
In other news, I’m gonna get to meet these losers in 8 days and I’m gonna fuckin die hoooooly shit. But I finally get to know how tall Graeme is and I’ll hopefully get to show him the project I’ve been working on (i’m illustrating his poetry book! I only have 3 poems left andjkslnfasioganfowhfuow)
Mike is a chocolate covered pretzel. Most of the time he’s very sweet and kind and enjoyable but sometimes he’s salty as fuck
I have a cassette tape of Mike Pinder reading children’s stories that you can’t buy from his website, and it’s signed by him. It was a surprise included in an order of things you *can* actually buy from his website, and I still don’t understand why he was so nice to me ;v;
Apparently I earned cool points with my roommate’s dad since he likes the Moody Blues too, and I have been facilitating bonding between them on account of Theo knows way too much about the moodles cos I won’t shut up, and can use this knowledge to impress their dad
Me n Theo summon mellotrons periodically before bed during the school year. Like how you summon Beetlejuice in the movie. We like to assume the mellotrons end up in Mike Pinder’s basement and that we are confusing him and slowly filling his basement with mellotrons
Last thing! Theo and I once came up with the plot to a gay buddy cop movie based solely on a single photo of the moody blues and the fact that Theo thought Mike looked like the leader of a communist country. Idk it was finals and so much shit was hitting the fan that anything went (if you wanna know about it tho, feel free to ask)
Idk I’m not gonna outright tag anyone cos I don’t know who to tag. I guess I’ll do the usual ‘if you see it and wanna do it, go for it’

Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot!
thank!!! you!!!!
ok so i’m starting with nursery cryme
favorite songs i will choose four because i couldn’t choose three:
the musical boxseven stonesthe return of the giant hogweedfountain of salmacis
my opinions on nursery cryme are:
it’s like being in a small and pretty garden but everything grows fast and somewhat hysterically, but in a really good way. the album has no chill except for some moments of chill in the musical box which is one of the most perfectly arranged pieces of music i have encountered. i never cease finding new interesting or funny things that escaped my notice before and i never grow tired of it. it is through and through an amazing album and i love every song on it and i should like to marry it and make it my wife
FOXTROT
favorite songs:
supper’s ready get em out by fridaywatcher of the skies
my opinions on foxtrot are:
it is not like a small garden more like a country house overlooking a slightly larger piece of land. less growth but more space and more to see. you can watch space or six saintly shrowded men who move across the lawn slowly.there’s no use in starting to talk about suppers ready because anything short of a long essay on it will make me feel i did it justice. i sometimes grow tired of a few songs from foxtrot and then they come back in full force only a short while later and i love them and i love foxtrot. the watcher of the skies always reminds me of the fool on the hill and i. feel things. it makes me feel lonely in a good way because i like being lonely and i like space and space makes me feel lonely and it is all very good

Tell Us about Your Special Interest (or whatever you are into/passionate about)
In part inspired by the Discord - I’ve noticed that many of us (myself included), have a particular sort of negative experience dealing with people. That is, when they dismiss, shut down, or outright demean your interests which are special and important to you.  So I extend a hand, it’s okay. We’d like to know about your interests, it’s okay to talk about them, and hopefully provide a better picture of how wonderful this can be, and new knowledge you could learn through it.
1. Introduce them:  2. When did you get into them:  3. What drew your attention 4. Favourite thing about them 5. Is there anything you dislike about them? 6. Tell us a little-known fact. 7. Tell us how much you love them 8. Is there anything you associate with them? 9. How do they make you feel? 10. Free Space! Anything you want to add, anything goes! promote them, have they inspired you to do anything?, favourite ________ from them, little things that make you squee....anything. :D
This has caused, at least for me, a tendency to not talk, not talk a lot in fear of oversharing, or feel I should feel bad for allowing something to get so close to my heart. Unhealthy, addiction, it’s bad for you, okay! Okay! WE GET IT!!!.....are just some of the things I’ve experienced. The feelings they give....is so pure, so good, nothing can really compare. I’m supposed to just...wallow in despair, separated from my light? That can’t be right. I hope this can demonstrate some of that.  Blank template. I’ll fill one myself, but first and foremost. This one is for you, friends! Sorry to bother you all. Only if you’d want to, of course. :) Sorry if I missed anyone I should have tagged. T_T  @chronical-music-fangirlism, @theprobablezell @auroreamethyste @killedbydeth @carlfrederickkendallpalmer @my-space-and-all-within @dark-side-of-the-division-bell @thewillowfarm @clearthroughtheclouds @scarletsue

Edit: Also, feel free to tag anyone else you think of.

the rad @wheninlovewithablindman tagged me to do this SI/favorite musician/band meme, yay!
1. Introduce them: Todd Rundgren is a multi-instrumentalist who’s been making albums steadily since 1969. He’s also produced albums for numerous musicians over the years. He’s a big name in the music industry but sadly not one that most people know offhand, other than a few singles.
2. When did you get into them: it was Christmastime 2015, my friend @sunburst-finish sent me a letter and mentioned him and I decided to look up his music on YT.
3. What drew your attention: it was hard not to instantly get drawn into his music, especially because the first thing I checked out was AWATS. I immediately felt immersed in this magical fairy tale world, filled with bright colors and fun ever changing atmospheres that twisted and turned and morphed but somehow made sense in one cohesive work.
One of my first memories of Todd’s music is hearing Tic Tic Tic for the first time when I first listened to AWATS and feeling as if I was in his laboratory complete with beakers and test tubes filled with bright eye-catching colors and colored smoke pouring out of them. ((honestly, once Todd said he wanted his music to invoke imagery and he really nailed that tbh))
4. Favorite thing about them: everything........ no, but I really love above all else how realistic his lyrics are. his music brings up emotional issues etc, but they almost always end with conflict-resolution, or at the very least an intention of fixing things, as opposed to a lot of music out there that’s either pure bubble-gum happiness, or on the opposite side of the spectrum and completely miserable woe-is-me. this lyrical formula directly contributed to many positive changes in my life because it motivated me and helped me reach my own conclusions about issues in my own life. I’ll always be grateful to Todd for inspiring me to realize that the world isn’t completely black and white and most of all, that I have the power to fix things.
5. Is there anything you dislike about them? there are a few things, because regardless of how much I love Todd, he’s only human and as such has faults. some of them are little things I picked up while reading old interviews where he used terminology I didn’t agree with to describe people (for reference it was an early 70′s interview, and I hope he doesn’t use that terminology anymore).
6. Tell us a little-known fact. he really loves fireworks, and when he was much younger, he used to prank musicians he was working with by lighting off his own homemade fireworks and putting them down the chimney.
7. Tell us how much you love them: I literally owe Todd my life, if that puts things in perspective. it’s not an exaggeration/cliche type thing. honestly, Todd helped me heal in a lot of different ways, gave me artistic inspiration, helped me make friends when I was isolated more or less, helped me meet my girlfriend and escape from a really abusive situation. he feels like a mentor/father to me at this point.
8. Is there anything you associate with them? lots! rabbits, bananas, fireworks, glitter, space, triangles, stars, red suns, etc.
9. How do they make you feel? safe, happy, motivated
10. Free Space! Anything you want to add, anything goes! promote them, have they inspired you to do anything?, favorite ________ from them, little things that make you squee….anything. :D
listen to Healing if you’re feeling down
hmm, I tag: @bruceyiffinson @ihateradiohead @sunburst-finish @bowiepop @thewillowfarm @groovycasablancas @toddrundgren-interactive
