so in attempts to not have this drag on forever, i think i'll have minato fall for tori relatively quickly. after she nearly kills him, i have part of a scene written where he tracks her down and

tori obviously noticed his body disappeared. she is HOPING he just teleported away to die of his injuries, but she does quickly realize she may have just pissed off THE most lethal ninja in history. and she no longer has the "i'm just an innocent, harmless civilian :)" disguise

she's like: oooooh no. oh fuck. and she goes into Seal Development Turbo Mode

when minato DOES show back up, they end up at a stale mate where she traps herself in a barrier

minato is like "well that HAS to have a time limit" and then he goes through all her stuff

she's in seal development Turbo Mode so she has a bunch of her notes out, which is both like phylogenies she copied because she's trying to figure out if chakras are more similar in more related taxa, but then also like "results f attempting to flash-fry a rat in project Flash Fry the Yellow Flash"

minato: wtf why do you keep trying to COOK me?

he ends up just leaving her because 1. he doesn't have clear orders from Konoha on this; it's mainly a personal research project, so he'll do what he wants (he is..... very bad about this). 2. he thinks she's interesting. 3. he gets her to explain wtf she's doing and she actually DOES have motives and logic he finds sympathetic: she's trying to get away from war, and even if she's selfish, she doesn't like ninja harassing civilians and she'll intervene when given the opportunity. 4. plus she's like

and this logic speaks to him. minato is "a good guy" in that he's a loyal friend and he largely respects the rules of society (harassing people bad! etc), but he's also basically never once been like "oh, murder of an enemy is too harsh a punishment!!" like yeah, if someone is threatening you or your comrade, you just kill them? duh???

so minato leaves her and has upgraded her in his brain from "interesting potential enemy" to "person i just think is neat." and he's not like I AM NOW IN LOVE but he IS like "i am bored all the time now, and i think having her attention would be fun and interesting and we could get along, so i'm going to try flirting" except she just GETS MAD AT HIM???? and jiraiya has a bunch of very bad suggestions

so minato goes and does his monthly Track Tori Down field trip (tori is always like HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS??? and will switch up her behavior to be weirder and less predictable, it's SO cute) and she's at a bar chatting up some other ninja. minato will NOT admit he is jealous but also, if she wanted to talk to a ninja, he's more famous, superior at every single ninja skill, nicer, smarter, more charming, AND better looking?!

@waffliesinyoface suggested Plasticity lore character Batta of Grass, so that's who Tori's target is. minato reflects on jiraiya's advice and is like FINE I WILL MAKE HER JEALOUS and saunters over and hits on Batta HIMSELF. obviously batta is more interested in talking to him than to tori and abandons her. except now.... now minato is talking to this random unimpressive ninja he doesn't care about and NOT the person who WANTED to see?

batta: (bragging about killing TWO ninja in one fight)

and tori looks scandalized for like five minutes but now she's just smirking at him from across the bar. minato is silently begging her to bail him out.

not sure how the batta part of this ends (with him dying in some comical way, maybe?) but i want the fallout to be

tori is like "you are so fucking stupid, i was trying to get him to go kill some road bandits for me bc they're making travel basically impossible"

thank u for indulging me and i am so sorry this is about to be soo incoherent because i'm so all over the place.

i think that if you have an overbearing family (who probably mean well but just don't understand that sometimes you need a bit of space) he is so your guy. he knows about families who are SO nosy like on a fucked up level. his brother probably has a whole profile on you. overbearing aunties are a breeze.

they throw you guys a baby shower and if you start crying in the car because you feel overwhelmed he's rounding the driveway to help you calm down. wipes your tears and asks you what you wanna do in his steadiest voice and you know he's going to back you up no matter what. has a hand on your back the entire time if you decide to go in and coordinates all communication with the seriousness of like his high level stakeouts.

uhhh uhhh i think jason and dick's relationship grows stronger as a result of this. like. that's his older brother. and he tells him because this is special and precious part of his life and he says it very solemnly and awkwardly when they meet up, and tries not to show how important it is to him that dick is part of it. tries not to show his brother that he feels this deeply about him being part of it. but he's still his younger brother and he's still gonna look up to him and want his approval. and dick is so. over the moon.

i think each of the family contribute in their own way but. i like to imagine damian, curious and a little awkward, helping to paint the nursery. he drops in randomly after school and the first time is a little sudden and you're not expecting him but you can't turn him away. he sits in silence for a little and then offers his own stiff little congratulations even though he'd already told you back when you and jason had announced it in front of the family.

it's so endearing and you ask him if he wants to see the nursery and he follows you through the house to the room where you and jason have planned to decorate for the baby. the entire time he doesn't take his eyes off you just in case, like he's got to take care of you in jason's absence. takes the role of soon to be uncle sooo seriously. you ask him if he would consider painting you something for the nursery and i think he takes it SO seriously.

jason goes out and buys a notebook once he's processed the news that you're going to be parents. it might be that day, it might be a week later. but i think he's the kind of dad who writes letters as your baby grows up. 'today we found out we were going to have you..' type thing and it's just so. heartfelt. and human. i don't think he even knows if the baby will ever see these, but he details how scared he feels and you can just read how much love he has already for you and the baby. he's a boy trying to do his best.

this is once again me projecting but. imagine the baby books. i love the idea of the nursery and picking out the books you're going to fill the shelf with. and as the baby grows you add more and more. fairytales and science and fiction and fantasy etc etc. jason reads to you when you can't sleep during the pregnancy

you fall asleep in the nursery one night, the both of you, and maybe a few years later, you unknowingly recreate it when the baby/small person has a nightmare and you and jason end up squished together on the bed with your world between the both of you. a tiny hand on your cheek and the other on their dad's shirt.

i was talking about this with keke (eurydizzy) beloved but i think the baby picks up on jason always calling you baby or a pet name and starts calling everyone that. they're tucked in his arms after a visit to uncle dick's and their little hand is smacking against their mouth in a clumsy blown kiss and you hear a tiny voice say 'bye baby!' to dick. (you guys end up staying another hour)

jason buys a camera and ends up documenting almost everything he can but. so do you. there are home videos on home videos on home videos. that's your world, why wouldn't you want to preserve it!!

another thing keke and i were talking about was the inner child wounds you guys would inadvertently heal. it makes me so emotional. you guys aren't perfect but. by god that baby is so loved. never once ignored, never dismissed. you treat them so seriously, and listen to everything they have to say.

anyway i am so emotional and have severe baby fever. i saw a mother and her baby on the bus the other day and almost started crying because they were so cute

So, some major notes so far:

-I refuse to believe SJM knows how to write poor people. I refuse to believe that Feyre's family has been poor for a decade. How tf can the sisters be so dainty and act so oblivious and bitchy about work for survival after NEARLY 10 YEARS OF ECONOMIC DESTITUTION???????Just their mentalities, how they react to being poor, how they treat their belongings, how they treat their food, how they handle their money, etc. doesn't really line up.

-I can't stand SJM's writing style. SO MANY MF EM DASHES HOLY FUCK AND THEYRE IN PLACES WHERE THEY'RE UNNECESSARY. And also she reuses the same sentence structure, and it bothers meeeeee. (ex.- i was going to the bathroom, which was white and clean and shining. Then, I went to school, a place that was dull and bland and boring.) Like jfc. I wholeheartedly believe the conspiracy that no one actually edits SJM's book because good LORD.

- Feyre is dumb and deserves death. Like the instance with the Pooka. She suddenly sees her crippled father on Tamlin's land in Prythian in the middle of the night??? Given the wary hostility and aggression and distrust she's been displaying towards everyone and everything so far in Prythian, why isn't she doing the same in this instance???? She's said herself she is wary of faerie tricks, and acknowledged that not even whole, able-bodied humans are able to survive in Prythian without the help of a faerie, so why would she think her DISABLED FATHER, who is helpless in the mortal realm, be any different??? And why would she CARE that her father has come for her??? Did she not hope that her family starves without her, so that they realize she's important to them and she holds them in such an embittered contempt?????

- I LOVE Lucien <3 I like this fox-boy, he is funny and actually treats Feyre like the murderer she is (because yes, she's a murderer, and takes PRIDE in having killed a faerie. Which Feyre has some nerve being hostile to faeries who have been nothing but courteous and gracious with her, and thinking THEY are in the wrong when she was the one that MURDERED their friend).

- why couldn't Tamlin remain more like his beast form, making this more of a BATB retelling? I literally imagine him looking like Legolas but JACKED. This is where my ire of 'BATB but the beast is just a hot guy that growls or has behavioral problems' first began. It's such a shallow version of the story and completely misses the point. And the fact that this is also a retelling of The Ballad of Tam-Lin, a Scottish folktale, and does really nothing that's an homage to the story aside from Tamlin's name, the fact he shape-shifts (albeit BARELY), and there's (poorly written) fae really irks me.

-for once I want SJM to actually describe paintings rather than describing what the painting is of. I don't believe for one minute that SJM did more research into art, style, etc. because for the life of me I couldn't tell you what Feyre's art style is, nor do I really care because her having painting as a hobby is so pointless and has no effect on her character whatsoever.

- SJM is lazy as fuck with her world building. ex.- Lucien saying capital 'h' Hell, as in Christian Hell, when humans are agnostic/atheist with a sparse number of fae-worshiping cults (and were once implied to have had a polytheistic religion) and fae worship the Cauldron and other faerie deities so like.....why not use a few extra braincells to create her own version of Hell rather than using lazy cultural shorthand that, by the logic of this book's world, doesn't work????; underutilizing fae lore so now they're either underdeveloped spectral entities or LOTR elves... BORINGGGG!! GIVE US ACTUAL FAE IN LITERATURE AGAIN!!!! (*applauds Heather Fawcett's Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries and Krystal Sutherland's House of Hollow*)

These are my major thoughts for the first quarter of the book.... See y'all again at 50%!

A little bit more whining and some suggestions on how to patch up the plot holes under the cut 😂

If Hongjo had been a man we would've surely seen his hero's journey in this show. That's what I remain salty about. Everything in the premise was perfectly set up for witch/shaman Hongjo, but this show just wasn't modern enough for Hongjo to be the hero of her own story. To the show's credit though, Shinyu was also imperfect and quite spineless/selfish with some of his decisions (still loved the man, but just being real).

It shouldn't be a big surprise considering the rich man-poor woman premise of the show. That too is very traditional. But the spells and charms had me fooled! 😂

I'm still so obsessed with the Shinhong chemistry that I could easily rewatch their moments 2-3 times and not get tired of them. I just need to ignore the plot entirely and vigorously and focus on how endearing those two are together. I still can't quite get myself to rewatch the finale out of annoyance, though. 🥲

In my fix it version of Destined:

Hongjo would've recovered Aengcho's memories in ep 15 or 16 and she would've used her witch/shaman powers to put a charm or spell on the gardener to catch him.

Hongjo would've recovered and saved Uram.

The relationship between the gardener's past self and Aengcho would've been explored revealing some kind of history between them leading to his obsession with her and Hongjo. They were both shamans, so perhaps they interacted because of that.

The gardener's moonless magic and lack of physical repercussions for his curses would've been explained. (Also what were the bloody tree tags all about? And what did the cursed plant do exactly?)

Shinyu would've cleared Aengcho's reputation or paid respect to her in some way, as Mujin did kill Aengcho, which allowed Mujin to save himself and (as far as we know) live a relatively fullfilling life with a wife and (cursed) children, while she died young and with the label of prince killer on her name.

The aftermath of Aengcho's death and its effect on Mujin would've been explored more. What happened to Mujin after Aengcho died? Where were Aengcho's remains buried? Did he visit them? Did Aengcho haunt him in his lifetime?

There would've been more flashbacks from purely Aengcho's perspective and about her life as a shaman. Also WHAT WAS HER SECRET TALENT??? ANSWER MEEEEEE

Nayeon's motivations would've been more fleshed out and Hongjo would've stood up to her earlier in the show.

The lazy plot device of having leads run into danger for no good reason would have been avoided entirely.

Shinyu's mother would've gotten a divorce (and dated Wook).

Ms. Ma wouldn't have married Mr. Gong.

Eunwol's secrecy and past life would've been addressed in some way.

(Personal preference, but) Shinyu would've stood up against his father to defend his mother and Hongjo.

Shinyu would've also told Hongjo about his arrangement with Nayeon and he would've dropped Nayeon much sooner out of respect towards both women.

There were endless plot holes, but that's a short list of the changes I'd make to patch them up. I do find myself oscillating between annoyance at the dumb plot and on the other hand charm at the Shinhong chemistry, though. They're just too tender! 😩

this is a really interesting question! typically, commentary is a separate audio track on a dvd/bluray release. for example, on this doctor who bluray rip, there is no separate commentary file — it's just an audio track option:

so my recommendation would be pirating dvd/bluray specific files — not webrips — which may include those commentaries (if they were part of an original dvd/bluray release). is that helpful? have you found any luck that way or are you looking for something else?

Cloudy rambles on: About Mari being sick... And it ends up with a search-party for her.

(This is implied to be the kimetsu academy AU)

Backstory about how Mari got sick before I ramble on about her:

It was snowing pretty heavily during the afternoon, Riko was away to do errands so it was just her, the Tokito twins who came here to study with her, and her 2 little cousins who are just...there.

During their study break, the cousins decided to ask her if she could get the ball outside of the house...while its snowing heavily. And Mari thought it wouldn't hurt to go out and just get the ball...while she's just wearing a shirt and baggy pants... So she went outside and tried to get the ball, but it slipped from her hands and she had to chase it for a while, and eventually she got it. She came back home, with snow on her ponytail hair and she looks like she could freeze to death, but despite that; her younger cousins got excited and exclaimed about how amazing Mari is while the Tokito twins just stare in concern... They hoped that Mari doesn't end up sick from that.

..But she did.

And that's how she ended up in her bed, feeling very unwell... While her sister checks up on her...

Riko is concerned and confused on how the fuck it happened... She plans to ask Mari about this when she's no longer sick. I mean, she could ask her right now...but...

When Mari is sick, she's a lot more airheaded and childish. She can't think well while she's sick, so Riko just had to guess for now on how she got sick.

Riko would've taken care of her while she's sick, but she had something important to do. But she can't just leave Mari behind like this...Especially after what happened before when she did...

Riko entered their home and it was a mess... Nothing broke, mostly. But it was a mess and she even saw Mari wearing clothes to go out, but it was not proper.

She decided that she'll call the Tokito twins to ask if they have the time to watch over her, which they did luckily!

So they're both here, while listening to Riko's instructions and telling them if anything bad happened, she'll personally kill them in their sleep just call her. Both twins agreed while looking at Mari, who seems hyperfixated on a cat plushie she has and staring deeply into it.

After Riko left, the twins would just watch over her and take care of her needs, while she whines about her older sister.

"Nee-chan had to leaaaaveeee??? But she promised to take care of meeeeee.....!!" Muichiro just pats her head gently as a way to comfort her, which somehow worked.

So Yuichiro is downstairs, preparing soup for Mari while Muichiro accompanies her and talks to her. Muichiro is struggling a bit with how Mari sometimes speaks gibberish when she's sick.

After some time passed, while Yuichiro feeds her soup. Both the twins (mostly Yuichiro) got startled when they heard 2 younger voices calling out for Mari.

It was their cousins. Seemingly peeking in the room, and confused why the twins are here since they usually don't study together at this day.

So when the twins explained to them that Mari is currently sick, both were surprised, especially knowing that Mari has a strong immunity system... Then they remembered what happened. (hahaha oopsie :3c) Misaki and Akio just looked down in shame while Yuichiro looks down at them in disappointment... Muichiro would also ask what they're doing here

Misaki would explain that Mari was gonna tutor them both, and since she's sick, of course Mari is unable to do that. And with Mari being sick, they decide to just be stupid and poke Mari while she's asleep, but they were quickly stopped by Muichiro.

"She's currently both sick and asleep. You shouldn't disturb her."

The younger cousins just pouted at him, and Muichiro sighed. (He would've flicked them if it weren't for the fact Mari would be upset at him for that...)

Yuichiro would then tell Misaki and Akio if Mari can't tutor them, both him and Muichiro could tutor them instead. Misaki was about to decline, but Akio agreed immediately. Misaki pouts at her younger brother and tell him why he agreed, which Akio answered that they were here to get tutored anyway.

So they're currently downstairs, with the Tokito twins tutoring them. Since Mari is asleep, they decide it's okay to just leave her behind and would check up after an hour.

While Misaki is currently struggling to understand what multiplication is, Akio excused himself to the bathroom. The Tokito twins didn't think much of it and just focused on tutoring Misaki.

They heard Akio greeting 'goodbye' to Mari and got confused but they thought Akio was just saying goodbye to Mari just for the sake of it, and they see Akio going downstairs with an innocent smile plastered on his face. They asked how Mari is doing.

"Oh! Mari-nee said she needed to go buy something, so she went out...by the window for some reason."

... The room went completely silent.

"WHAT???!!"

The Tokito twins immediately stood up and immediately went out, not seeing Mari in sight. The little cousins followed behind them. The twins are panicking (especially Yuichiro) since they knew Mari is not in the best condition to even go out. The twins chastised Akio for not stopping Mari while they were searching for her around the town.

"Why didn't you even try to stop Mari?!"

"She's 14, seaweed head! She can go out by herself!"

"She's sick, Akio!"

"...Right. I might've forgotten about that..." The twins sighed heavily while they continue looking for Mari. The four are (of course) worried for her. She could be in danger!

In the meanwhile, Mari is standing by the train station, dangling her legs around while blabbering to herself.

"Ooo! A train...!" ...Mari, you're in a train station.

Enmu spots Mari admiring a train, and so he goes up to her and talks to her about his love for trains. Mari just listens, humming and dangling her legs. Both seem to get along pretty well.

The Tokito twins and the younger cousins eventually found her with Enmu and just when he was about to do his usual shenanigan, Muichiro punches him, knocking him out while Yuichiro just blocks the little cousins' view. Mari seemed surprised and worried.

"Y-Yui...?? Or M..Mui??? Why'd you punch himm?? He was talking to meeee!" Mari whined to Muichiro, and he sighed, shaking his head and picked Mari up bridal style, then started walking her back to her home with Yuichiro and the younger cousins following behind.

Mari rambled to Muichiro about what she saw while she was on her way to the train station (to no surprise, she got distracted lots of times while on her way there...). Muichiro just listens to her rambling.

Eventually they all reached back home and Mari is placed back on her bed. And now Muichiro is watching over Mari while Yuichiro tutors the younger cousins.

Riko eventually came back and was relieved that everything (to what she only knows) is all good, and she thanks the twins for taking care of Mari (and of course she paid them, dw...)

Little Bonus:

Riko replaces the cold compress on Mari who is once again fast asleep. She smiles softly at her younger sister and pats her head gently. The twins decided to stay a little longer before they head back to their respective home.

"Whenever Mari is sick, she reminds me of her younger self... Part of me misses her youthful days..." Riko mused while she sits on the edge of Mari's bed. Yuichiro and Muichiro are sitting on the bean couches Mari has in her room while the Misaki and Akio sits on the floor, playing with Mari's old toys she kept in her closet. Riko still wonders on how Mari got sick in the first place... Her ears perked up when she heard her two younger cousins talking to each other, despite whispering, she could still hear them.

"Yeah...Maybe it wasn't the best idea to make Mari get the ball for us while it was snowing heavily..." Misaki whispered to her younger brother while he nodded as he continued to watch the little toy penguins climb up and slide.

Oh. So that's how she got sick.

Riko then stares at the two younger twins with a cold look on her face. The younger cousins, along with the Tokito twins noticed her angry aura as they all flinched, aside from Muichiro who raised his eyebrows only.

"Misaki. Akio. How about we talk for a while in the living room." Riko ordered with a stern look on her face. The younger cousins were intimidated by her expression and nodded before following Riko downstairs.

..Both Yuichiro and Muichiro could hear Riko harshly scolding the two.
