i'm going to commit to the bit and make this a real thing. because i like the idea of tashi getting her fellow tennis player back in the game.

this will also be another time where i'm specifying reader's gender. so a female reader. and they're the same age as tashi.

unfortunately did i technically make covid canon in the universe? yes. yes i did.

pairing: tashi duncan x fem! reader

context: 2019 (briefly), late 2020 - 2021

"are you just going to keep eyefucking your husband? or...?"

you turn your head back to look at her. "sorry." you feel the phantom feeling of pain shooting up your leg and your fingers go to scratch at the scar on your leg.

tashi glances over. your husband and hers. playing tennis in the country club. she can overhear the conversation from them. come on art! do it! beat me!

"and how are your kids?"

"they're fine. doing well in school. having fun at sleepaway camp. it's just me in the house. feels unnatural." your stomach churns at the thought of your kids.

that's not to say you didn't love them. you loved your triplets. but your triplets reminded you that you could have had a different path. you could've had them later after you won the coveted venus rosewater dish. to finish your collection of trophies on the shelf. to finish a grand slam career title.

you feared you had aged out of the sport. and that there was no chance for you. a comeback was out of your league.

"he still keeps you at home?"

"yeah. even though i saved his career." you take a sip of your virgin strawberry daquiri. "that whole speech, the whole rebrand idea...was me. it was my idea."

"he's been keeping you locked up since college. so i'm not surprised." tashi's fingers tap on the table as she looks out at the men playing tennis.

"locked up since i got my injury." you scoff. "hate it. i hate seeing that empty space on the shelf. there's enough room for another trophy. for wimbledon." you sniffle. you blink back the tears. your husband always scolded you for getting emotional about it.

"you healed. you recovered well." tashi cocks her head to the side, and she pushes her sunglasses up so they rest atop her head. "why aren't you playing?"

"dan says...some shit about not wanting me to get hurt again. it's real bullshit."

"yeah. it is. you should play."

you raise your eyebrows, looking at tashi. "tashi."

"what? you can do it. you're still young."

"i'm 31. i don't...i don't want to be one of those players that comes back way past their prime. besides, i wouldn't even know where to start-"

"i can coach you."

you nearly spat out your drink. you swallow it down and ignore how cold it is, how it painfully travels down your system. "huh!"

"i can coach you. feel like you're...a lot easier to work with than some other people." tashi leans back in her seat. you were always receptive to her advice and criticism back at stanford. you always took things to heart because you strived for perfection and for pushing yourself.

and secretly, tashi wanted to piss off your husband. she's always hated dan.

you purse your lips. "tashi i...no. don't. you don't need to!"

"art wants to retire. after he tries for the u.s. open. win or lose. he wants to retire. i need someone new. and i think you deserve a second chance."

"that's...that's if i can even play the same. i'm old! my body is...completely different from when we were in college. i have three kids-"

"dan can watch the kids, for once. just...you don't even have to tell me now. you can think about it. if you want to play but not go with me, that's fine too. i would just hate to see a stranger try to say what you should and shouldn't do."

after all, you deserve to be cared for by the woman who knows you the best.

lockdown was a time where you really sat and thought about your tennis career.

you were tired of just taking care of the kids all day, of being locked in with them all the time.

and what you hated the most was that empty space on your shelf, staring at it all day, every day. you hated it when your husband showed it off on facetime to his friends. he almost bragged about the fact that there was a missing trophy, that you were missing a grand slam.

about two months into lockdown, you text tashi.

– let's do this – comeback of the century, right? – and i want you on board

"art's excited for you."

"is he?" you look at her as she's writing something on the legal pad. she always enjoyed the feeling of the paper. she was writing with a pen you had bought her. it was from a stationary store and the kind that had a tiny tennis ball and tennis racquet attached to the clicker.

"i think he's just happy to...relax." she looks up, watching the way your body was being stretched by the trainer. "you're a little bit older. and you have some clotting issues since giving birth. i can get in touch with some people to help craft a suit that will help."

"tashi, don't you think we're doing too much?"

"we aren't. you're older. and your body is obviously different from art's. for one, you literally made and carried three kids. we just need to get you the right equipment, get your body back into shape, and train you up."

the look of hesitation does not go unnoticed. "we can stop at any time-"

"no. i want that dish." you say it through gritted teeth. "i'm going to fucking get it."

tashi feels her lips curl into a satisfied smile. "hell yes we are."

"i registered you for a tournament. they're starting to open things back up." tashi lightly hits the ball and watches the way your legs move with precision. you hit the ball and it knocks over the cone all the way to your left. "you're basically a whole new player. some people might remember you, some won't. so we're leaning towards a new public image." she hits another ball.

you hit it and knock over the final cone.

"what does dan think about all this?" she asks.

you shake your head, wiping the sweat off of your forehead. "i'm divorcing dan."

tashi raises her eyebrows. "oh. is everything okay?"

"everything is fine. i...just hated him. don't hate the kids. they're sweethearts. and he's wasn't around enough for them to really grow attached to him. i...i was trying to work things out when he swooped in like a hawk and shoved that ring on my finger." you loved not being able to wear it. "i finally worked those things out."

"good for you. you deserve better."

like her.

but tashi would never say that out loud.

charleston. the perfect opportunity for a comeback.

you've faced worse. you had to remind yourself of that. the charleston open was not as serious as the other tournaments of the past. your hands were cold and frigid beneath the air conditioning. and they were growing numb.

"hey. hey. you're going to do great."

tashi's hands are warm. they cup your face, making you look at her and deep into her brown eyes.

she's always so warm.

"i can't feel my fingers." you mutter.

"here." she moves her hands to take yours, pressing them flat together between her own. "warm enough?"

"i can...feel it coming back."

tashi watches the way your eyes look all over the place, how they take in the crevices of the wall. you were always an observant person. you always liked looking at the walls of the locker room.

the catsuit looked really good on you too.

"what if...this is all a mistake..." you mumble.

"then it would be a waste of hard work and materials." she doesn't mean to sound cold. "and technically, you would have divorced dan for no reason."

you finally look at her. her eyes are soft. and you understand. she sees another shot within you. the same kind of shot she saw within art.

"yeah. i guess." there's the remnant of a laugh leaving you.

tashi leans forward. her lips are soft. and she tastes like prosecco. her perfume is warm with spices.

you kiss her back, leaning towards her, leaning into her. it feels right. kissing her feels right. just like that one time you two kissed in the showers at stanford.

tashi pulls away. she feels your hands. your hands were warm. hers were a little cold now.

"decimate that bitch."

How would the first meeting between Drakken and Shego’s brothers would go?

Good question! First technical meeting was during the episode 'Go team Go' but that was barely anything. Let me try and write down how I think a first meeting would go:

So I suppose after the episode, the next best meeting could be during a family orientated holiday (Thanksgiving or Christmas). It would be very likely that Hego, after finding out where Drakken's Lair is located, would send an invitation for them to visit during the holiday; no hero activities, no villain activities just family stuff + Drakken. Drakken is a sucker for family orientated outings (See the yearly evil family picnic that he organises for his henchmen and the time he celebrated Christmas with first only Ron and then with the Possibles and Shego).

If Drakken gets his hands on the invitation first: Drakken might keep it a secret from Shego and makes her come along with him to GoCity under the guise of "We're going there for evil shopping" or anything and 'coincidentally' bumping into Hego.

If Shego gets get hands on the invitation: Shego will probably burn it and toss it away. However, she won't wait for it to burn out (like the photo strip of her and Kim in 'Stop team Go'). So Drakken might see it and stomp it out, see the address and could potentially read that it's an invite and then do the same as the previous part, go to Go-city.

Alternative: Drakken invites team Go to the lair for a family reunion.

Drakken and Hego would formally introduce themselves to each other and Shego would try and go away but gets stopped by the Wegos who surround her with hugs. Eventually she just gives up and everyone goes to GoTower or Lair.

Drakken + the Go brothers impressions:

Wegos & Drakken: The twins would probably be neutral over Drakken. He looks a tad boring to them compared to the Go villains. They are mischievous though and first pretend to be 1 sibling, making Drakken confused because he thought they were twins, then triplets??? Quintuplets?!? "Oh, just twins with multiplication powers, haha of course--." Drakken would also think they're around the age of Kim's brothers so he got them a pranksters' science kit as present. "How to build an atomic whoopy cushion? Neat!". Drakken is okay in their book.

Mego & Drakken: A looooooooooong silence between them. Mego and Drakken would probably start with having the least common interests, but something they both like to talk about is themselves. One would start talking about some anecdotes connecting to their line of work, then in turns they interrupt each other to tell another 'funny story that I just remembered cause of this story'. The conversation then turns into talking about Shego. Both of them then bond over getting onto Shego's nerves.. until Shego interrupts them "Hahaha, oh that's funny-- hey don't stop talking about me now, you guys seemed to have so much fun!" "Yes, uh, well, we're just--" "Boy! All that socialising sure dried up my throat. I'll get myself a water, would you like some too, Doctor Drakken?" "Why, yes Mego, here let me help you!!" And both of them hurry away into the kitchen before Shego can say anything. They also compliment each other's hairdo but secretly think it looks lame and theirs looks better.

Hego & Drakken: I feel like this is a double edged sword. They both like the Oh Boyz and probably would sing Karaoke during the party (making Shego and Mego cringe in their seats). They could talk about the fastfood industry/horeca in general and maybe Hego likes Snowman Hank as well.

Now the negative aspect. I think at one point during the party, Drakken might ask Hego something along the lines of "So, you are okay with your sister being evil? Running from the law? A super Villain's sidekick?" and Hego laughs it off, replying "Oh, yeah well, I'm not that worried. You see, if she's paired up with the likes of you, it'll be ok." At first Drakken might be flattered but then, "What do you mean, "paired up with the likes of me"?"

Hego explains that he knows that Drakken is no 'real villain'. After first seeing him, he looked up everything about Drakken in a villain database and concluded that Drakken is no real threat, at least not like the true villains that terrorise GoCity (according to him). Shego probably is the safest with Drakken cause she'll never be in real danger because of his shenanigans. Drakken will get fired up because this definetely hurts his ego. He will start getting real angry and tries picking a fight with Hego, telling him he's probably the reason that Shego left for villainy, because he's such a goodie two shoes that controls everyone like they're tools to get him in the best light and adoration of the city. Hego and Drakken will eventually get closer to actual fighting but Shego steps in, scolding both of them hard. "This is exactly why I didn't want to come." Shego grabs Drakken by his collar and heads out.

It's not the most perfect first meeting, but it's a first meeting nonetheless. I hope you liked my take on it!

We know Nita’s the eldest but what’s the rest of the birth order? And is there a rivalry similar to when Mabel would tease Dipper for being five minutes younger than his sister?

Taka: Oh boy here we go...

Nita: Yep, I’m the oldest! Older than Taka by a whole thirteen minutes.

Taka: And even with that she always acts like it’s years of wisdom and experience.

Nilam: Yeah. She always says, “As the oldest, I have to make the big decisions.”

Nita: Well, someone has to! Besides, it’s not like you guys listen to me anyway.

Taka (rolling eyes): Pfft... Whatever. We're all thirteen anyway. So why do those minutes matter anyway?

Nita: That's because... When I was your age-

Taka: Stop that! Please! Not that joke again...

Nilam: Ok, you guys should chill. We need to get back on topic.

Taka: Yeah, right. Right. So, erm... Yeah, as much as I hate to admit it, on a technicality, Nita is the oldest. Followed by Nilam-

Nita: 6 minutes 18 seconds younger than me, to be exact.

Taka (rolls eyes again): And yeah, there's me. But overall, we're all still the same age. As for our Dad and Aunt Mabel, yeah, we've heard tales about their rivalry based on their age. And their heights. And everything else.

Nilam: I suppose it's inevitable we would compare against each other, really. I mean, I know of friends with siblings and they're always competing over who’s stronger, faster, smarter... you name it.

Taka: And, I have to admit, Nita here is the most intelligent and responsible among the three, while Nilam is the strongest and most creative. As for me...

Nita: You're still the most adventurous and bravest among us, Taka.

Taka: Thanks, Nita. (grins) At the end of the day, we have our own strengths and all. Like, Dad often told us how many times Aunt Mabel had offered him a new perspective when solving mysteries. Like how to be less serious and yeah, just take a step back.

Nita: All in all, we're a team. And whatever comes, we'll stick together and face it head-on, like our Dad and Aunt did.

Nilam: Yeah. Like different pieces of the same puzzle.

✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name?

Technically this was Tony's doing I believe. He named Elthrandor Sessamine with the logic of "a name that fits his elven naming scheme", in a world where Ellie was raised by U'tlunt'a. If I recall correctly as well, this was where Thrandy came from in the first place!

🌼 - How old are they? (Or approximate age range)

Thrandy is the same age as Ellie, though minutes younger. She will tend to remain aloof about it and go "almost 14".

🌺- Do they have any love interest(s)?

In the campaign they got jokingly paired up with Log, a fankid of the two Animus Vitrum leads. Log's hardass personality simply meshed well with their prim and haughty tendencies.

In Exordium, their royal standing isn't as secure, so their personality isn't as pompous. Regardless they're set up currently to be dating Ida in the future, potentially.

🍕 - What is their favorite food?

Like Ellie, she needs to eat copius amounts of sugar because of her elf heritage. But she prefers spicy foods, especially savory types. She really likes her mom's shakshouka with some sweeter peppers and honey in the sauce.

💼 - What do they do for a living?

He's currently the crown prince of the kingdom of Musaphia, though it's kind of an honorary title because the place is in tatters on top of their present plight. So right now he's basically a wanderer. Isn't making much of a living.

🎹 - Do they have any hobbies?

She likes listening to music, podcasts, and collecting laemellograms. She isn't as cerebral as her siblings, but she still has a healthy appreciation for learning. She also enjoys keeping fit and practicing various fighting techniques. In Prophecy she also liked working on cars (specifically a fancy Night Court type of vehicle that was shaped like a bronze bug) and listening to jazz (covers of 90s music).

🎯 -What do they do best?

Of the triplets, she's the best at combat. She's been trained by the royal guards and by her mom, from whom she inherited a magical technique that lets her grow her fingers into long claws.

🥊 -What do they love to do? What do they hate to do?

Thrandy loves physical activities and adventure, stories and games, and seeking out all kinds of excitement. She gets bored really super easily and doesn't deal with it well. She does secretly like holding court, but only if there's going to be drama for this reason.

❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?

It was after a particularly rough training session with his mom. U'tlunt'a patched him up but then took him out to the market as a special treat, as she very rarely leaves the palace grounds with her station. There was a big to-do and the endorphins were definitely helping.

✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories?

Watching his mom sacrifice her life for him by trapping herself in a soul jar with a war machine. Then later watching Ida get herself cursed and being unable to help her.

🧊 - Is their current design the first one?

Nope! Their design has been a little all over the place. Their Exordium design has been a little but more stable but could also change in the future as I decide more of the world's aesthetic.

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?

Originally, a silly roleswap au between Ellie and their girlfriend Nymra where Ellie was the suave royal-in-distress and Nymra was a goofy chuuni hero. Ellie in this au was an elf named Elthrandor, and the dm and I were in talks to try and canonically retcon them into being a half-fey changeling because we liked the idea so much. He surprised me with Elthrandor during the campaign.

Lately, it's been a lot of Olivier from Hello from the Hallowoods as well as Coco from Little Witch Atelier.

🌂 - What genre do they belong in?

I think high fantasy, but with a little more courtly intrigue such that the little extending claws are a more perfect spy type utility! Unfortunately this is an apocalypse story. Alas. They get to do this better in Skylands.

💚 - What is your OC’s gender identity and sexuality?

Thrandy is bi and genderfluid and uses she/he/they.

🙌 - How many sibling does your OC have?

He has two siblings but he doesn't know them, so he's very only-child about everything.

🍎 - What is the OC’s relationship w/their parents like?

She's very very close with her mom, Archmage U'tlunt'a Spearfinger. Her bio dad, Daeyim, is out of the picture due to Circumstances, but she's very resentful of him being absent.

🧠 - What do you like most about the OC?

I'm still feeling him out, which is the fun part. When I'm adapting an npc that exists for a specific goody niche for a serious character arc, the fun lies in finding where I can really make these characters squirm and suffer the most. I also like how much he works as a foil for his siblings, being an opposite in a lot of ways but a parallel in others.

✏️ - How often do you draw/write about the OC?

A bit less than the other two triplets but she does have the most written fic currently in Exordium.

💎 - Do you ever see yourself killing off the OC?

Not really. I just don't think I'd get much mileage from it currently.

💀 - Does your OC have any phobias?

They're a little squeamish when it comes to things like heights. And the dark, which is not great for the eternal night world.

🍩 - Who is your OC’s arch-nemesis or rival?

They butt heads with Lilibeth a lot but everyone does because she's got a difficult personality. They also are definitely going to be fighting both Ida's brother Goliath and Lili's mom, V'rylla.

🎓 - How long have you had the OC?

The au was created in late 2020. I don't remember exactly when they debuted in game but it wasn't too long after. This makes it about 3.5 years.

🍥 - What age were you when you created the OC?

I would've been 20!

I’m back in the fucking building again/ref

But yeah, I’m here to present more of my art to tumblr. Enjoy!

These first couple of pieces are of my Hazbin Hotel oc Esme. She is, as stated in the art, a fallen angel. She has a massive crush on Lucifer; one so large that she literally fell from heaven for him lol. I’m joking, but she did get kicked out of heaven because of Lucifer. Not that it’s really his fault. Heaven just wasn’t the same without him. Plus, she was all for his ideas, so it wasn’t long after Hell was made that she ended up there. Throughout all of season 1 she wears a demon disguise because she’s not keen on being known as an angel in Hell. Especially since she’s been living like an Overlord ever since she got back on her feet. She spent some time under Lucifer and Lilith’s protection after her fall, healing from the loss of her wings (which eventually grew back). The first drawing is my initial drawings of Esme to get her design down. The one after it is just some random doodles I made of her. Including her fallen angel form (the one of her punching Adam). (Small side note: In creating Esme, I had the idea of her being sort of like Cupid and the Fates. She is the one who started connecting people with strings. Who is meant to be she knows, not just romantically, and she can see the strings that bind them, especially when those binds are going to change. Each bond having their own specific colors.)

These next pieces are some refs I’ve made for Esme. The first one is her demon form during season 1 and the second one is her embracing her (human) angel form going into season 2. (Note: I say human angel form because it’s still technically her angel form, just not her full angel form that includes all the eyes). The third ref is just Esme in a new outfit that she gets in season 2 to further embrace her true self.

This next one is just a "What if?" scenario that I wanted to draw out. It's basically just "What if Esme owned Vox's soul?". It's not canon to Esme's lore, but I do keep thinking about how fun it'd be to make it canon lol.

Moving on from the Hazbin Hotel fandom onto the Sonic fandom, I present to you a collage of Cherry drawings. They're just various prompts that my friends and I were coming up with since we have our own little AU in our server. A little context for Swap Cherry, it’s just Cherry having swapped outfits with Amy nothing else.

This next one is just a fun idea I wanted to do since tumblr has been showing so many Sonic fankids, so I caved in and made some fankids myself.

Dawn is the oldest and she looks the most like Cherry and Shadow. (She is the only one to truly be canon in the AU I’m doing with some friends, but this is an offshoot AU of that sorta.) Fern is the middle child and he looks more like Sonic and Cherry. Aurora is the youngest, but takes after all three of her parents. However, the three are actually triplets so they’re all actually the same age lol. Dawn and Fern are the “speedsters” out of the three, but really only Fern is fast on his feet. Dawn’s super speed kicks in when she flies instead of running. Aurora is fast when she runs and flies, but not like her siblings. Her strength lies in her plant powers and chaos powers. She is a lot more connected to the chaos energy that runs through her (as well as the alien dna) than her siblings. Though Fern has less of a connection to those than his siblings, taking after Sonic’s genes more than Shadow’s genes or Cherry’s genes.

This is my BHC sona and my fan kids with Nox. I've been really missing Nox and BHC lately, so I thought I'd draw all of our kids together in a happy little family photo :)

Nox is voiced by @improvidence318, and belongs to @bonelyheartsclub

Arabella (16), Lucidia (15), Verdana (13), Corvallis (13), Cascadia (7), Italo (1), Andina (1), and Halana (1) all belong to me, as does my sona and their design. Fun facts below! 💖

Arabella is the oldest, and takes that role very seriously - and with pride! She loves all of her younger siblings very much, and often plans out when to spend special time with each of her siblings!

Bella's favorite color is lilac purple.

Arabella and Lucidia both take ballet classes and often help each other practice for recitals and other shows! It's one of the activities they bond over most :)

Lucidia's favorite color is orange, and her favorite holiday is Halloween. She loves letting her outfits reflect this fact - her wardrobe is full of black, purple, and orange articles of clothing. Her favorite piece to add to her outfits is her purple adjustable suspenders that Nox got for her birthday when she was 12!

Arabella's bow on her headband is the same bow she was given as a baby. After she grew out of her baby headband, Chae carefully removed the bow and sewed it to a larger, adjustable headband so Bella could continue wearing it as she got older :)

The twins, Verdana and Corvallis, are very in-sync and sometimes seem as though they're communicating through glances and expressions alone.

Verdana's favorite color is pine green, while Corvallis' is ruby red!

Corvallis was technically born first of the two, so he's very protective of his "younger" sibling. This sense of being a protective figure, like his father, only grows stronger as Cascadia, and eventually the triplets are born into the family.

Verdana was referred to as a female at birth, but as they got older they realized they'd like to be nonbinary! It was a change, and remembering the proper pronouns was a little tricky at first, but everyone in the family is super proud of them for pursuing their happiness and makes sure to gently correct those who accidentally use the incorrect pronouns ^^

Cascadia was born six years after the twins, but even despite the age gap between her and her older siblings, she feels very loved and protected by them.

When the older four were off to school, Cascadia was still home with Chae; as such, she would often meet her older siblings with a huge wave, smile, and several excited giggles as they got off the bus from school :))

Cascadia's favorite color is pink - any shade, it doesn't matter. If it's pink, she loves it with a passion. She says it reminds her of her mama's hair, and that's why it's her favorite color.

Like her mama, frogs are Cascadia's favorite animal. She wants to get a pet frog someday and name them Kermit, but she's having a hard time convincing her dad to allow a pet frog in the house...

Until she's able to convince Nox, Cascadia often picks up tiny frogs outside that are in dangerous spots, and places them in a safe space somewher in the yard or garden. She calls every single one of them Kermit.

Lola, the family dog, is a white and chocolate pitbull that has been in the family since before Chae and Nox got married. She is a sweet dog, and is very protective of Chae and the children. She's incredible gentle with them, and loved snuggling Chae's baby belly during every pregnancy.

Cascadia loved getting rides on Lola's back when she was younger, but now often crawls on all fours to play with Lola - both inside, and out in the yard.

The triplets were born six years after Cascadia. First was Italo, then Andina, and finally Halana.

The triplets are all AFAB, and will be given every opportunity to grow and be who they want to be as they get older; as they get a better idea of who they are, and what feels right for them, they may change pronouns.

Italo is the quietest of the three, while Halana likes to make the most noise. Andina sits in the middle of this spectrum, often enjoying quiet time for naps, and gets more energetic during play time!

Andina seems to take special interest in bears, while Italo loves trains :))

Halana is often the fussier of the three

Chae got a hat to replicate the subway bosses from Pokémon for Italo, and often puts on clips of Emmet and Ingo for them when they need them to sit still. The subway master catch their immediate attention every time without fail.

Halana loves the smell of coffee and will more than likely calm down from a fit when she smells it - Chae and Rus often mention that this may be due to Nox usually smelling like coffee; therefore, being a familiar and loving presence that puts her at ease.

When they weren't on maternity leave during each of their pregnancies, Chae was working as musician and sound producer. Nowadays they work freelance, working from home developing music for clients.

Chae and Nox have a custom bed and mattress size that all the kids could fit in if they wanted to. They noticed after the twins were born that each of their children had a tendency to seek them out during the night after nightmares, and eventually they decided to upgrade their bed so the kids could crawl in and snuggle with their parents whenever they need :))

Nox and Chae never miss a recital, school play, choir/band concert, musical - anything. Any and every performance, they are there in the crowd cheering on their children with pride and joy!!

They often go Christmas caroling through their neighborhood during the Gyftmas holiday season.

During Thanksgiving, the family often celebrate twice; once with the Nox family and Rus, and once with all their uncles at the family house across town.

Arabella loves to help her mom cook during family holiday get-togethers.

Cascadia adores her Uncle Rus and his anxiety service dog, Sherb, who's been in the family a little longer than Lola.

Sherb is a German shepherd that Nox had specially trained to help Rus handle his anxiety better. She, like Lola, becomes very protective of the family as it grows.

The triplets can be often found napping near Lola and Sherb during the holidays while everyone is busy cooking, setting up, etc.

Whenever Halana is fussy during family functions, and Chae and Nox are not able to hold her and calm her down right away, Sans will take her and rock her gently in his arms. He has a very soothing presence that often lulls her right to sleep.

Papyrus loves his nieces and nephew, and is often the first one to offer his expert babysitting abilities to give Chae and Nox a break every now and again.

Blue and Red have definitely included the kids in a prank war more than once or twice.

Chae and Poplar do yoga together occasionally, which Cascadia loves to join every time.

For Gyftmas one year, just after the triplets were born, Ash gave Verdana a book on gardening, and they use it to grow several indoor and outdoor plants.

Ash and Verdana often spend time bonding over their love of plants and wildlife.

Corvallis picks up his love for leather jackets from his Uncle Boss - he loves going shopping for clothes and shoes with him on weekends occasionally!

Much like his mother, Corvallis loves playfully bantering with Boss. Because of this, and his desire to be more like his dad, he develops a very sharp wit.

Blue often facilitates family movie nights whenever the kids are at the family house. They usually consist of classic DreamWorks movies - the family favorite for the kids, so far, is Megamind. The Kung Fu Panda series is a close second for them because of their mother's fond history with learning and teaching kung fu long ago :)))

In celebration of the Animaniacs reboot's second season coming out soon...

I'm going to list a few things I think the reboot does better than the original show so far (not including technical things like animation quality or sound quality, that's not a fair comparison). Here we go:

1. There's a "Here's the show's namey" variant every episode now rather than re-used lines (like "Pinky and the Brain-y"). I totally get why the original show re-used lines (although by season 3 they do so way less), but it's just really cool the a new and unique one every episode now.

2. Yakko's role as big brother seems more apparent now. He was always the leader in the original show sure, and he clearly did care for his siblings, but there wasn't really a sense of authority there. The Warners, either alone or together, always did their own thing. The fact that they weren't all (physically) the same age didn't really matter in most episodes, and often only apparent due to their (kind of inconsistent in the original-I SAID I WOULDN'T TALK ABOUT THE ANIMATION) height differences. Now, in addition to him being the leader, there's multiple episodes where Dot/Wakko will ask Yakko for permission to do stuff, like keeping the bunnies as pets or to watch TV.

It's a cute touch, a nice little reminder that "Oh yeah they're not triplets".

3. The PG rating has allowed for edgier jokes/language. Characters can say "Hell" now, Pinky almost said "bull-(you know what)" and Wakko almost said "motherf-(you know what)", then there's these:

It's dark but I think it's funny darn it 🤣.

4. Less mediocre segments. I've said it before, I'll say it again, the Warners, Pinky and the Brain and Slappy carried the original show. I also enjoyed Rita and Runt and Minerva Mink segments, but they were cut from the show after season 1, so that sucks. Every other segment on the show I consider kinda okay/mediocre/bad 🤷‍♀️. A lot of characters would've worked better as recurring characters within segments where they're not the stars. Honestly their absence is a positive in my book, while watching the original show I often found myself thinking "Man I wish this show only had the Warners, Pinky and the Brain and Slappy segments in it". I know Slappy isn't in the reboot but that's not a deal breaker for me (the other two segments are a lot more popular so I understand prioritising them). If no Slappy also means no Katie Kaboom, I'm good.

5. More heartfelt moments - outside of the Rita and Runt segments (as in there's a higher ratio of them, not trying to compare how heartfelt they are). In the original, pretty much the only segments that had heartfelt moments consistently was Rita and Runt (Rita's song about humans, "Smitten with Kitttens", "Puttin' on the Blitz", etc). This is fine, it's a comedy show; but it would have been nice if some of the characters that got a lot more screen time than those two (the Warners, Pinky and the Brain, etc) had some too, especially since there are no Rita and Runt segments past season 1 anyway.

I know before the reboot there were quite a quite few heartfelt moments related to Animaniacs-the climax of the Pinky and the Brain Christmas special, Dot's fake out death (spoilers for a movie from over two decades ago-yes it's that old get over it) in Wakko's Wish...basically all of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo Clock". But most of those aren't actually in the original show, only one of them is. Wakko's Wish is a non-canon (I swear "Animaniacs" and "canon" are two words that don't mix but you get my point) movie and Pinky and the Brain series is a spin-off. If we're talking exclusively about the original series that ran from 1993 to 1998, then only "One Flew Over the Cuckoo Clock" counts really.

Maaaaaybe that one moment in Taming of the Screwy when Scratchy tells the Warners to leave...but it was really quick and not taken that seriously (it kinda just felt like build up for a punchline) so I think that one's a stretch (although it was a little sad).

Meanwhile the reboot already has caught up to it (in only 13 episodes as well) with two moments; Brain's backstory in "Roadent Trip" and Yakko's panic attack in "Fear and Laughter in Burbank". They're both taken seriously, last over a minute and say something pretty interesting about the characters involved. It's just nice to see characters other than Rita and Runt be allowed to have emotional moments (again, within the actual show). It's on-par with the original in this regard despite having 86 less episodes. And there's probably more heartfelt moments to come!

6. The Warner's fangs:

They make them look a little more feral! 😁 Very fitting, I wish they had them originally now. I also appreciate that they (usually) don't have gaps in their teeth anymore. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE their TMS designs, but I honestly prefer the Warners with no gaps in their teeth.

7. The PatB segments. Just in general, overall I like them more than in the original show (I'm comparing them to the ones in the original Animaniacs, I'm not talking about the PatB segments in the spin off series, Pinky an the Brain). Not only are they more creative, with ideas like Future Brain and Julia, they also do the running gag thing less. What I mean is, in the original show their segments sometimes would have a running gag they do over and over within a segment, to the point where it becomes obvious that gag is how/related to how the plan is gonna fail. Some examples of segments that do this are "Bubba Bo Bob Brain", "Spellbound" and "Brain Meets Brawn". Now of course we know they're gonna fail, but trying to guess how they fail or the surprise how how they fail is one of the fun parts of their segments. Their segments are already quite formulaic, so why add to that? The reboot so far pretty much only did this once in "Close Encounters of the Worst Kind", so that's good.

8. More variety in terms of musical genres. Most of the songs in the old show are of the old-school Broadway type of music. There's a lot of orchestral music, a bit of jazz. Many songs just add lyrics to pre-existing music. Which is good, 'cause those songs are good. But I appreciate the reboot adding some other genres in there, like pop and hip hop. They're NOT what you'd expect an Animaniacs song to sound like, but they're still amazing! (like The Cutening song or Yakko's rap).

9. The Warners' morality. This one's really important. Ideally, the Warners should act like karmic tricksters. Yeah they can be annoying to anybody, but are generally harmless and actually pretty friendly if left alone/aren't being mistreated. Once someone actually provokes them though, they won't hesitate to humiliate, harm and drive insane their "special friend". This is explained well in "The Sound of Warners" (credit goes to clownmoontoon for the video):

Sometimes the Warners don't even need to be the ones being provoked for them to go after someone for being a jerk, like in "Morning Malaise", where they call out a radio show host for being rude to their guests, or in "Dot's Entertainment", where they call out a parody of Andrew Lloyd Webber for placing blame onto his actors.

But then in seasons 4 and 5 of the original show they start bothering people and legitimately harming people who literally weren't being rude to them at all. Some examples of this are "Anchors Awarners", "Acquaintances", and "Back in Style":

I guess I can understand in "Back in Style", they were mad about being sold off to other studios against their will, but they took it out on actors who probably had no say in the matter.

Thankfully, in the reboot they seem back to normal, once again only intentionally humiliating and/or harming people who actually provoked them, be it hunters ("Good Warner Hunting",) cocky athletes, ("Gold Meddlers"), rude conductors ("Here Comes Treble"), etc.

...and I think that's all I got. There are other things too but they're smaller points not really worth mentioning. I do like both series the same but wanted to praise the reboot specifically given that I have done multiple posts analysing the original show.

What are Hoshi and Riley’s opinion on each of their aunts and uncles? I know Riley is wary of Hono, but what about the others?

Riley -

Aunt Chikara - Chaos auntie who'd let Riley get away with murder. Chikara is just as bad as Hatsume: you want some chocolate and your dads aren't looking? Here have the whole bar. You wanna have dessert before dinner? Sure why not she's down. Wanna stay up a little late then usual? Okay she'll whack on some movies. Chikara is the type of auntie to teach Riley how to catch bugs purely so she can put them in someones pillow case to scare them, overall a fun aunt. Riley and her a chaos duo and Higari is often hesitant to leave Riley in his sisters care cuz he knows they'll cause trouble

Uncle Hono - So yeah Riley is kinda wary of him, not because Hono is directly mean to her but more so because Higari and Hono don't get along. Riley doesn't understand all the stuff that happened between them, she only understands that her dad and Uncle don't seem to get along so she tends to leave him be. Hono obvs steps in if Riley is in danger of hurting herself/carries her when she's tired/wraps her up when she's cold etc, he tries to be a good uncle

Uncle Taiho - the more responsible Uncle, he's a bit of a worrier by nature so when he sees Riley trying to climb a tree he gets paranoid and tells her to get down. Sometimes the worrying can be a little overbeaing which leads to Riley being all whiny with him, but he's gradually learning that Riley is a pretty tough kid and can handle a little scrape if she falls over

Auntie Suru - Being the youngest of Higari's siblings she's the one that can understand kids the most so Suru is a pretty easy going auntie, she also looks the most like Powerloader so baby Riley was pretty clingy with her whenever Higari needed them to babysit her. A good Auntie

Auntie Komori - The type of auntie who can only show up a few times a year due to living so far away, but always gives Riley a lil slip of money cuz rich auntie. Type to take Riley out for the day, if Riley wants to get fast food they're getting fast food, if Riley wants to go to a proper restaurant they go to a proper restaurant. Riley loves Komori mostly cuz she's super rich and Riley, cuz she's a kid, thinks thats super duper cool. Also Komori probably takes Riley cliff diving when she's a giant bat (her parents don't know about this)

Uncle Dangan - Riley thinks he's the cool but weird Uncle, but he always shows up with a fancy new trinket to show off so she's not complaining. The type of Uncle to gift Riley super weird stuff on birthdays (to name a few: a pocket knife, a slingshot, hand crafted bow and arrow and once an ant farm, she lost her marbles with the ant farm). The type of uncle to sorta let Riley do her own thing but Riley knows not to push things since Dangan has a super secret sixth sense that lets him know when Riley's doing something she shouldn't

Hatsume - Technically she's her adoptive big sister but considering the age gap Riley's come to view her more as a fun cousin/auntie figure. You thought Chikara and Riley where chaotic these two are another level. Hatsume 100% encourages Riley to tinker with things, so what if you gotta take apart the sink pipes or the toaster? It's in the name of science! Riley fucking ADORES Hatsume

Aunt Shizen - Shizen has four kids with Hounddog, three of them being triplets the same age as Riley. If anyone is gonna know Riley is up to no good it's Shizen. Shizen is probably the second most responsible alongside Taiho, Riley and her often butt heads because Riley struggles to sit still and is easily bored by being cooped up inside. She and her cousin Api often try to sneak outside to play, key word being try as Hounddog often hears them plotting their escape plan before they can put it into action

Uncle Chrome - Again due to his work he can only visit a few times a year, but when he does visit Riley likes to ask him questions about his shows. The type of Uncle to let Riley have a go on his trumpet and try to teach her how to play it, laid back uncle

Hoshi -

Uncle Taiho - Hoshi is a pertty shy kid so likes to stay inside most of the time like Taiho, Taiho has a collection of word searches and other mind puzzles so he lets Hoshi flick through them when he has to watch him. This has lead to them having a very close bond so Hoshi is a lot more talkative to him. If the two are outside Hoshi will probably be gardening or snail hunting, in which case Taiho either observes from afar (while making sure Hoshi is still in sight) or he joins in to help, he too is a fan of gardening so the two often bond over it

Uncle Hono - Believe it or not Hono fucking loves Hoshi and Hoshi loves him. Hono is the rad/cool uncle, lets Hoshi ride on his shoulders in public, gives him an extra slice of pizza if Hoshi is still hungry. Hono respects Cementoss so ergo he loves Hoshi, would fight for this kid. Hono once brought Hoshi a lil mini jacket to match his and Hono smiled so dam wide that Chikara thought she was seeing things. Hoshi says he doesn't do favourites but he's lying, Hono is his favorite Uncle

Auntie Suru - Similar with Riley with Suru being the youngest sibling to Higari's family she's good at talking with kids, plus with Suru being close with Hono Hoshi naturally spends a lot of time with her two. Suru and Hono often do babysitting together so Hoshi is very close to her too, likes to watch her work on repairing cars

Uncle Dangan - Hoshi is semi scared of Dangan just cuz Dangan is..a lot. He's loud, tall and can come off as blunt/mean. Dangan understands Hoshi is shyer so tries to dial things back, he doesn't wanna scare him off on purpose. They bond over bug hunting as Hoshi is a big fan of bugs, some of his favorites being snails, butterflies, moths, stick insects and caterpillars

Uncle Higari - When Hoshi is born Chikara officially moves up into the city, and with Higari literally being a corridor away from them at teachers dorms Higari is his second favorite Uncle. Higari's the best out of his siblings at adjusting his personality to suit Hoshi so he doesn't scare him off since he knows Hoshi is pretty shy. Thankfully Riley is good at helping him out of his shell

(gotta admit it's been a while since I've seen that theory, and something about it opened a door of questions related to VFD I'd forgotten about) how far do you think some members of VFD are willing to go to appease either where they fall in the organization or their own personal gain? what or who makes them take a step back and wonder if they're willing to risk losing everything for VFD? how many families has VFD broken? are the Baudelaires the only ones who still have each other in the end?

hi! yeah the mrs quagmire esme twins/triplets theory really does open a lot of interesting dynamics

i think wrt sacrificing family in the name of personal gains or greater good for vfd varies from one individual to another, and in the case of putting vfd first, and i don’t think that we got much canon info on the former - like there are speculation and headcanons and theory about Olaf’s and Esme’s family but there’s nothing canonically showing that. in a way, olaf losing his family (his parents) is also a significant motivation for revenge. perhaps it’s not that they were willing to put personal gains so far above family, but rather after losing family, personal gains were all esme or olaf had left.

as for putting vfd first or families teared apart by vfd, the first that comes to mind is the snickets. the way that even back in atwq they seemed to be working on separate things, on their own. the way vfd had trained them well to not recognize each other when needed. i think something that always stayed on my mind is that the snickets were on the same side and they hadn’t seen each other for years, whereas the denouements weren’t all on the same side yet they lived together and worked together. it’s an interesting yet a bit heartbreaking comparison. like the denouements may be teared apart by the schism that they ended up on different sides, but at least they get to see each other every day.

that said, despite being separated (at least in physical distance) by vfd and the schism, and despite jacques’s (and kit’s) loyalty to vfd, i do not think they placed vfd so above family. see, jacques was loyal, sure, he believed the cause and believed they’re doing the right thing, but he also helped lemony go on the lam to keep him safe.

“until the fires have been extinguished we must go our separate ways and risk our separate lives” - its such a jacques line to say and it’s breaking my heart. and we also see him working on investigations trying to clear lemony’s name, as seen in tbb rare edition. we see him dropping by lulu’s to try to check on if lemony’s still alive. jacques may believe in vfd but also he may let vfd taught him into believing they should work separately as siblings from a young age, but even while doing vfd missions he’s still working so hard to help his brother, to ensure his safety to investigate on clearing his name, even if that part is not aligned with the organization goal. he did it because he loved his brother and also he probably considered it his responsibility. this is more personal, more family responsibility for him than a vfd/volunteer work one. he did it regardless. i like to think that yes jacques was loyal to vfd, but his family was also important to him - even if he didn’t know how to show it in keeping them company, but he showed it in his own way and he did his best. i think kit loved lemony as well and we were definitely shown scenes of them being closer than J and L, but i suspect kit wasn’t as aware of lemony being alive and thus we didn’t see communication between them afterwards.

jacques and kit - they were more complicated and we never really knew why they seemed to not have spoke to each other in years despite probably both being in the city. i think they loved each other but sometimes it’s hard to express that with all the secrets they had to keep, and so many troubles going on. i don’t think they would go lengths to put vfd above each other, but the problem was, they also thought as long as each other wasn’t in immediate danger, then it’s fine to put vfd work above repairing their probably already fractured sibling relationship. like they loved each other and they would try to save each other if needed, but until an immediate danger surfaced, they think it’s okay to put vfd first. vfd probably taught them that.

what they probably forgot was that if they let the fractured sibling relationship continue to be fractured, if they didn’t make efforts to keep in touch .... it’s hard to know when there’s an immediate danger and when news reached one of them it’s often too late (exhibit A: the vile village)

i think maybe jacques and kit never thought they’d lost each other so fast and so sudden due to vfd troubles. it’s not like they’re willing to risk everything, it’s just they thought continuing what they’re doing wouldn’t cause any negative effects, and when they realized they’re wrong it’s too late already.

and also, we see fernald and fiona choosing each other, the only family they had left, above other things. granted technically fiona’s not vfd and fernald had already left his family for reasons vfd caused years ago - but we did see them putting family first.

so i think i would say - vfd definitely broken many families in different ways and made them sometimes not know how to love one another best, but that didn’t mean the individuals we see always choose to put vfd first, and that didn’t mean they didn’t love their family, even if they weren’t sure how to sometimes. that even if vfd broke them apart, we see them trying to save each other in their own way, trying to protect their family even if that countered vfd goal sometimes. we see fernald and fiona choosing each other, we see the denouements staying together despite being on different sides, we see jacques helping lemony to stay safe and clear his name. in the end, they may not have each other the way the baudelaires did, but i think they tried their best to love each other in their own way. and sometimes that’s the best one can do under the circumstances one is given.
