The Justice League had finally given the go ahead to officially form the Young Justice. Not that any of them were going to stop regardless of having permission. Since the Justice League had opened up their slots for more than the original six earlier that year, Batman thought it would be a good opportunity to use the Young Justice to help reach out and recruit some other heroes without drawing too much attention by going themselves. With protégés of most of the originals in the roster it was a solid plan.
They had been told about their newest "assignment" (if you could even call it that) earlier that day and they would be leaving in the morning. They were supposed to go meet a duo in Illinois (it was their base of operation even though they'd worked in other place). Phantom has been in the vigilante/hero scene for almost 10 years now, and Red Huntress started a few months after him.
Their names were well known, Dick had known of them even before he became Robin. But despite their national (maybe even International fame) little was actually known about the duo and the rumored Team Phantom that alluded to there being more than just the two. Dick had been a big fan of Phantom, and modeled a lot of his moves off of the super-powered hero.
Batman told them that they had already reached out the Phantom (Red Huntress had deferred them to him, and refused to speak with them afterwords) and he agreed to meet the YJ team and mentor them for a designated amount of time. There had been rumors in certain forums that the JLA had reached out to Phantom to be one of the original members of the league but he had turned them down. When Kid Flash had brought it up during the meeting, Batman refused to confirm or deny (which was proof enough).
The plan was for the YJ would stay in Amity Park for 15 days and learn from them, they would check in after that to see weather their stay should be extended. Specifically citing that their legendary teamwork would be incredibly beneficial to learn from to strengthen them as a team. The other plan, and equally as important, was to warm them up to joining the JLA ranks since a direct invitation hadn't been received favorably.
All that was thrown in the window when, three days in, the YJ, Phantom and Red Huntress get portaled to an unknown destination, with strange and unknown life(?) forms, with no supplies, no working communicators, and worst of all, no way back.

Music I think Roy Kent likes and why
Madonna. In season 3, episode 3, Roy said, "[Pre-Madonna] means before Madonna, female vocalists didn't have to work that hard." This implies a great respect for Madonna and her craft. Also, it's an example of a very specific kind of queer guy misogyny that I find very humorous and implicative (of him being queer).
The Sex Pistols (and other punk rock). Two of their songs are in the Ted Lasso soundtrack. One of them specifically plays when Roy is about to do some pundit work for the first time. I think it's meant to be his hype up music. They're also, of course, anti-fascist and anti-monarchy, which I think Roy would vibe with. He's giving punk.
The music of the Muppets. Canonically (not that I necessarily consider this kind of thing canon, lol) a Muppets fan, I think he'd love the soundtracks to the movies, as well as the numbers they do on the original show.
Rap; Salt-n-Pepa, Queen Latifah, and Beyoncé. I just think he would like them. In season 1, episode 6, Keeley mentions that he has rapped, implying at least some interest in the genre.
Leonard Cohen. I think Roy's Jewish, and he's a broody, sensual bitch. It adds up perfectly. Sidenote: while "She's a Rainbow" by the Rolling Stones was a great choice for the song he runs home to football to, I think Cohen's "Ain't No Cure for Love" would've fucking slayyyed..."I loved you for a long, long time / I know this love is real / It don't matter how it all went wrong / That don't change the way I feel / And I can't believe that time is gonna heal / This wound that I'm speaking of" "I've got you like a habit / And I'll never get enough" "I don't need to be forgiven / For loving you so much"
Klezmer. Again, if Roy is Jewish, and we know he loves and misses his grandad...it's simple. He HAS a record player and a dope sound system, and on his shelves there ARE old klezmer records that he remembers dancing around to with his grandad in their old flat.
Amy Winehouse. Again, if Roy is Jewish, and we know he is broody and bitchy, it is a given. "Rehab" is his anthem when his knee gets bad and he is reluctant to treat it.
Disco; Donna Summer and Jessie Ware. It's just great workout music, and it slays, and if he's queer, well, yes, of course he likes disco.
Pop rock; Elton John and Queen. If he's queer...it's a given. I think he particularly likes "I Think I'm Going to Kill Myself" and "Rocket Man", as he is suicidal (I can't find the interview where Goldstein said this) (it's just Word of God anyway), and the most rocket man motherfucker ever.
The music of the people he loves; Led Zeppelin, Cream, Tina Turner, and Stevie Nicks. Phoebe, Keeley, and Jamie like these musicians. He's a caring uncle, boyfriend, and friend. He is listening and learning. Also, I think Phoebe would be into some weird stuff, like outsider music - maybe some Tiny Tim. I think Roy would also enjoy the music of other friends, from plenty of other genres.

Your art has been even more wonderful than before lately! Your backgrounds in particular are very nice :) (and i love tate and ford being cute together!)
In this verse, are you envisioning younger bro or older bro shermie? Just wondering if this Ford has experience with babies!
thank you very much!! its nice knowing there's some improvement in the madness going on lol
oh man if im honest i havent thought much about shermie. ik whoever the baby was was never addressed, so it leaves a lot in the air for when shermie was born. Whether or not the baby was shermie, I think ford and stan had somewhat limited experience in taking care of it. Playing with the baby sure, but if it started crying they both probably just awkwardly carried it to Caryn.

I've been listening to the witch's ghost soundtrack on youtube, and it's so funny since it's like all banger hex girls songs, and then there's just random ass shaggy and scooby voice lines. The songs slap so hard, and then shaggy + scooby are just there too lmao

hello i may be silly and just unable to find it bc i could have sworn i saw u post abt this before but do u have a list of story recs for really understanding all the Intricacies of torikasa… i want to write something for them but my ! era knowledge is sorely lacking and ur the torikasa guy in my head so i figured u wld know :> (this is seishun-emergency i just dont want to ask using my main account so im on anon)
omg sure!!! i don't think i've ever actually made a list so you're fine
i haven't read all the knights classics so i might be missing something but to keep it brief:
requiem: knights repayment festival. very long but worth the read as it is the story that has the most of their backstory and dynamic. it's just Really good overall
the b in class 1-b stands for...: a short tori sub story. all idol stories w them are worth a read since it doesn't take too long. our class trip in the future (tori !! idol story) is nice too
first shrine visit: the title is pretty self explanatory, new years bickering. noble game is the classic when it comes to childish fights but i like this one because it also shows a softer side to them
they also often mention each other in unrelated stories (tori reminiscing their childhood in ep:link for example) and there's a bunch of others where they fight but i'd say these are my top 3

For the next five asks, my muse cannot tell a lie.
Anonymous asked: naotora would you ever fight another one of the generals? and why?
❛ I would spar with them, ❜ He doubts that's what the question is asking, but Naotora mentions it regardless ( it isn't a lie, after all ) in an attempt to both cover every base and stall for time to gather his thoughts. He has thought about this before, not about initiating fights but about being required to take part in some over territorial & personal issues alike ( it wouldn't be the first time the five bands have clashed with each other ), yet Naotora deeply dislikes the prospect, and his tone mirrors it.
He starts firmly, devoid of the blitheness he usually exhibits. ❛ ---but if you mean an actual fight... for the most part, no. I think of the other generals as a second family, so I would never start a fight with any of them nor give my all to kill them if they started one. I'm sure we could manage to resolve everything peacefully if we tried, even if some of them may not share this opinion of mine right now, ❜
A much too idealistic viewpoint, perhaps, but that's what Naotora has always been known for: the unbridled hope that their future won't be as bleak as everything and everyone else makes it out to be & the determination to ensure that such a joyous future will exist, if not during his generation then at least during the next.
He pauses, and seemingly falls into deep thought for a fleeting moment. It isn't that he's just now coming up with an answer for the first time, but rather that he doesn't wish to utter what he already knows he would do if the circumstances were to call for it. Optimistic as Naotora may be, he cannot allow himself to refute obvious facts - not when so many people's lives depend on his every decision.
❛ ...However, if any of them were to be overtaken by the Obsidian Eight's black crystals, I would. I can't consider myself a grand general and still put my own personal feelings above the safety of Hi no Moto, can I? I don't think this scenario is likely to happen, but on the off-chance that it does... I won't have the luxury to hesitate, no matter which one of them it is. Not only because of my duty, but out of respect for them, too. None of us would ever want to end up killing our own people, and would much rather prefer to die at the hands of a close friend than help the enemy. ❜
