Whenever someone broke her heart, Cub always fought for her, as did Scarlet’s older sibling figure, Cleo, who had broken some of those people’s bones in their time.

And now Grian seemed genuinely nice, genuinely interested, not seeming to care about Scarlet’s past…and genuinely liking her for her.

But Cub would be careful, he and Cleo had made a pact and a plan to tag team the guy together, scare away any and all thoughts of betraying her.

Antoinette had insisted that she cook dinner for the both of them, despite Jareth urging they should go out. With the hospital Jareth was always constantly with people. Seeing them, talking to them, taking care of them, working late with them. Why would he want to see them on his rare days off? She could probably cook better than any packed restaurant out there today.

With the plates in hand, the lights of the dining room going out and the only light to be seen was the warm glow of candlelight on the table. Following it she set the food down and sat in her chair, a little startled when she felt Jareth starting to push in the chair for her. She let out a soft laugh at the gesture, watching him sit down next to her she could not help but just beam at him.

Her facial expression softened, pure adoration in her gaze while he poured the wine for the both of them. Waiting for him to sit back down bringing her chair close, linking her arm with his and sighed contently.
