Eh I was a little annoyed but ultimately I just kind of feel bad for that person, it takes a lot of shit being fucked up for you to be a wholeass grown adult arguing to the death on tumblr + believing in a sort of catholic 'suffering means I'm moral' thing as a way to make yourself feel better about what feels unchangeably cruel about your life. It's why I was like, no I'm not gonna continue this. Not healthy for either of us.

starting on the anniversary collection again earlier this month, i had a realization: i don't actually remember any of simon's designs with any meaningful amount of detail (i think he's blond?? except for a remake(?) there was where he was very red). so! i thought it would be interesting to draw a version of him based on a combination of his in-game sprites and some of my feelings while playing castlevania 1. i had fun!

this might just be my particular brand of unwellness but tbh i do think getting bad content for your blorbos is worse than getting none, and batfam fans get not only bad fanon but also bad canon.... it makes me actively angry to see my faves show up in comics and get warped beyond recognition in ways that are likely to have a permanent effect on their portrayal, vs with characters i love who dont show up anymore i just sort of sigh longingly and re-appreciate the content of them i do have. but of course, having faves who get warped in service of the batfam is a totally valid complaint and those people Do suffer more than jesus

yeah i totally get that hfdjskfhdjf bc so much of the bad fandom content will just bleed into canon content and its Hell. like there are some writers (cough cough tom taylor and megan fitzmartin) that im convinced dont even read comics and just scroll through incorrect quote blogs to understand characters </3 and sometimes it is absolutely easier to say "this character hasnt shown up in like 10+ years but they were great" than to have them continue to show up but only be a shadow of what they were a decade ago <////3

but then again. even characters that do show up now are constantly sidelined and written out of character for bats so i guess theres nothing but pain and suffering for all of us :)
