Random au headcannons?

Random, huh? Alright, I will put here some headcanons that I have forgot to include before or had no occasion to say. I will mostly exclude Vinnie because he's a whole other category on his own:

Pepper has different ringtones for each of her friends and most of them are meme-y. For example she has set "Never gonna give you up" as a ringtone for Vinnie

Penny Ling really likes skirts, she very rarely wears pants. Also, she might not be Zoe but she's stylish in her own right, and cares about her outfits. Not above everything else but if she has time she she will carefully plan her clothes. They're usually soft and that just makes her so much more huggable. Everyone approves

Penny's also the most physically strong, she can pick up two different people at the same time no problem, especially if they are one of the smaller ones and that usually means Minka and Vinnie (Russell too but he's more stubborn about being picked up than those two). Minka very much uses that as an excuse to cling to her often

Minka is the group's hairdresser and she likes experimenting with their hair too, since it's easier than her own. While going to her for something more complicated might be risky, if you want your ends trimmed and not have to pay for it, go to her

She's also pretty good at playing football and is second most flexible, like damn girl

Zoe has a soft spot for her friends wearing her beret. While she would rather it stayed on her head and acts annoyed if someone steals it secretely she's kinda pleased. She probably has pictures of all of them wearing it and cherishes them

if you read my unhinged tags then you might have seen it already, but Sunil likes cooking Indian dishes which are of course quite spicy and his friends try to be supportive and eat them but they are less or more secretely dying brcause of those damn spices. Weaklings, lol. However, I like to think that due to being best friends with Sunil for a long time Vinnie has already eaten his fair share of those meals and is a bit more used to them so he's more okay. But also that one art of dhmisfour has opened my eyes to Penny not being bothered by spicy food so that's possible as well

also also! Penny Ling has memorized everyone's favourite kinds of hugs and if they're uncomfortable with some types she also remembers. They don't have to say anything, she just knows based on body language (you know, I have just realized I have separate headcanons for all of them lol about that. When did I think of them...?) Queen!

not to be controversial bc I know this is like…not in line with shifting opinions on fanfic comment culture but if there’s a glaring typo in my work I will NOT be offended by pointing it out. if ao3 fucks up the formatting…I will also not be offended by having this pointed out…

‘looking forward to the next update’ and ‘I hope you update soon!’ are different vibes than a demand, and should be read in good faith because a reader is finding their way to tell you how much they love it. I will not be mad at this.

‘I don’t usually like this ship but this fic made me feel something’ is also incredibly high praise. I’m not going to get mad at this.

even ‘I love this fic but I’m curious about why you made [x] choice’ is just another way a reader is engaging in and putting thought into your work.

I just feel like a lot of authors take any comment that’s not perfectly articulated glowing praise in the exact manner they’re hoping to receive it in bad faith.

fic engagement has been dropping across the board over the last several years, and yes it’s frustrating but it isn’t as though I can’t see how it happens. comment anxiety can be a real thing. the last thing anyone wants to do is offend an author they love, and that means sometimes people default to silence.

idk where I’m going with this I guess aside from saying unless a comment is outright attacking me I’m never going to get mad at it, and I think a lot of authors should feel the same way. ESPECIALLY TYPOS PLZ GOD POINT OUT MY TYPOS.

Presenting untrue and bordering on conspiratorial versions of (queer or otherwise marginalised) history without any sources

Completely disregarding and disrespecting any expertise on socio-cultural topics/humanities and distrusting academics and historians (incl. acting as if no academics or historians could be queer or marginalised)

Downplaying the role misogyny played in the historical oppression of queer women and concluding that queer men must have been more oppressed than queer women

Bi women are, at best, not as queer as "real" queer ppl, and at worst, simply equivalent to straight women

Despite nominal trans inclusivity, transmasculine ppl are functionally women when convenient (combined with the above, bi transmascs are functionally straight women)

Despite nominal trans inclusivity (bis), shamelessly attacking, threatening and actively endangering any trans woman who questions them or smth they find important (often by unfairly presenting her as violent or as a threat)

Having absolutely fucking wild and reductive takes about ace ppl, the oppression they face and their place in the queer community

Stating that marriage equality is an assimilationist fight while completely ignoring its direct roots in the horrifying consequences of the AIDS crisis for partners of ppl who died of AIDS

Praising western media creators from the past for queer coding even under censure and in the same breath condemning current non western media creators for being homophobic bc their representation isn't explicit enough

Heavily criticising almost all queer media created by women or ppl they see as such (see above points about trans ppl) or involving/starring a significant amount of women for any perceived or real amount of "problematicness", but fawning over and praising and negating criticism of queer media created by and starring mostly or even functionally exclusively men (even when it could be argued that, you know, not involving/seriously sidelining women is a pretty clear example of misogyny which should probably be considered "problematic")

Like idk but I feel like the takeaway from Hbomberguy and Toddintheshadow's videos should maybe be "be aware of such patterns in your communities bc they definitely exist" and not "this guy is uniquely awful" and I feel like a lot of the discussion I've seen surrounding this has been severely failing at that. Most ppl who've spent any significant amount of time on tumblr prob either have internalised at least one of those thought patterns, have had to de-internalise them, or have had to be extremely vigilant to not internalise them (which is done by, you know, seeking out other sources, which also seemed like an important takeaway from the videos)

"all men are evil" is radfem/terf rhetoric, but clarifying "all cis men" because you want to signal that you're not transphobic doesn't work because it's still deeply rooted in radfem beliefs. It's saying you believe there's something inherently evil in being born/assigned "male", and you carry it over in how you treat ppl who transition in or out of that gender. "All cis men are evil", is gender essentialist and you can't get around that.
