Headcanon list for MCU Diatrice

I think it would be cute if mk system and Layla had their own Diatrice(Diya) like in the comics

Her name is Diyaa Bellatrix Spector

Layla picked "Diyaa" since it means light, star, brilliant

UPDATE: Google lied to me, Diyaa in Arabic is usually a male's name. However, Google says Diya in Hindi and Tamil is a girls name that also means light and lamp Diya is named after Layla's best friend from college who was Indian

Layla's family initially opposed it because "it's a boys name" but Layla wanted to honor her friend and likes the idea of a girl with a traditional "masculine" name

Bonus meaning, sounds like the word "Day" (Dia) in Spanish, opposite of Layla (night)

Marc picked Bellatrix, like the star "not like the Harry Potter character."

When Steven finally met her, he proposes "Diatrice" as a nickname, a combination of her two names Marc: "Diatrice isn't a real name you can't call her that" Steven: "Diatrice sounds like Beatrice and that's a real name. She's likes it and she's my daughter too, I can call her Diatrice if I want."

Jake has a variety of Spanish nicknames for her: "mi luz, mi reina, mi amorsito, etc."

Her hair is the same as Layla so it was a learning curve for the guys.

Steven is the best at it, he's gentle and massages her head and likes to add cute little bows and accessories

Her favorite way is to wear it in two little buns because they look like bear ears

Jake just puts cat hears and little tiaras on her, depending on the vibe

Marc tries but he's so bad at doing different hairstyles. There are always flyaways

Diya really wanted pink hair. Cried to Layla about it so much

There's no way in hell Layla is bleaching her baby's hair. But she can't resist her puppy hears so she compromises and gets her some pink clip-in extensions

Trying to raise her trilingual (one parent one language). Most fluent in Arabic and English but understands a lot of Spanish

Once Jake starts to front around the house more, she gets more exposure and starts to pick up better

likes Katy Perry and Olivia Rodrigo. Sings it at the top of her lungs when they're driving

On weekend mornings, likes to sneak into her parent's bed for cuddles

Marc loves this, especially after nightmares/bad sleep

Steven always reads her a bedtime story (He does the best voices)

one time (several times) she bit a kid at the playground

Steven had to scold her for that but Jake snapped at the other parents for yelling at his daughter

Diya mirrors a lot of Layla's behaviors/habits, mainly constantly reminding her dad of different things. "Papi, did you remember to beep beep? (lock the car)" "Papi, did you remember to feed the kitty?"

Just like both of her parents, she's very stubborn and bossy. Marc, Jake and Layla have to resort to bribing her with mini marshmallows.

Steven doesn't like this, worried they're giving her too much sugar. Although he's not above bribery, he just uses berries instead

Doesn't really know/understand her dad's DID. She just knows that some bad stuff happened to dad growing up and it's still scary for him sometimes

But no matter who's fronting, it's still her dad and he'll protect her so it's ok

Avoiding specific spoilers... The story's well underway and the characterization doesn't feel quite as forced. I want to see where it goes.

That being said...

The author definitely gives vibes of "Christian who thinks Jewish culture is just Christianity without Jesus," and it shows in a few things Marc says that just feel... off to me.

I'm also lumping this in with an anon ask that tumblr ate about something that the three of them all like to do together, because its on my mind. But.

Music. As people, Marc, Steven, and Jake are pretty different, and while I think they'd have a good time supporting the other's pursuing their interests and listening (Steven infodumping on a trip to a museum, Marc at a baseball game or talking Star Wars or Space ((take that hc from my cold, dead hands)), Jake explaining the inner workings of a car, erc), music is one of those things that's so intrinsically human, it beings us together.

I've talked some about Jake and music and within the replies of @bammtoris 's art about their music taste, but.

As far as what they can play? Steven, I feel, would dabble with piano primarily, maybe even a ukulele he has ukulele boy vibes, fight me . Jake, as I've talked about, is a good guitar player, and I think he'll play a piano if you put one in front of him too. Marc knows a little piano and guitar from his youth. Just chords, really, but I think if given the chance, he'd play some guitar from time to time. But.

But where Marc shines? Singing. Something in the way how, when no one is around, it's one of the few ways he can just. Let out what he's been holding in.

His singing? It's soft, it's full, it's emotional. It builds in intensity as he goes. He can only really do some simple chords on guitar/piano, but his voice? His voice more than makes up for it; it's the centerpiece.

He wouldn't know that though. For him, it's a release, something he keeps to himself. He'd rather do anything else but sing, perform, anything like that for other people.

The first time Layla hears him sing it isn't intentional. He's singing to himself, alone, and is so deeply into it that despite his constant head-on-a-swivel disposition, he doesn't hear her get home/come up to their place. And she hears him, really hears him. cough cough being seen who? cough And she waits outside the door, not wanting to startle him, because he's clearly not aware of her and she knows not to sneak up on him. But also. She just wants to listen. And if she's honest with herself, this might be the most emotionally vulnerable he's ever sounded. It almost feels wrong listening.

But a while later, she tries to work it into conversation, really wishing to hear it again, hear him again, this time with his permission. And he pushes the idea away and she let's him. She let's it go. But it sits with him. And sits with him. And he practices.

He picks a song and he practices and practices it, for her. And he surprises her on their anniversary.

When she cries, he freaks out, putting the guitar down and rushing to her, apologizing and apologizing, but she takes his hands and then his face in hers and tells him to Shut up, no, that was beautiful. Thank you. I love you.

Meanwhile she treats them like shit , the way the three of them are in love with her yet she keeps calling them Steven and has the personality of warm water , also her relationship with Jake??? It seemed that only Jake loved her

I still only know the broad lines about Marlene, but from what I've seen she gives off that vibe. She's just this bland blonde French woman who was an archeologist with her father but somehow the only thing she seems to be doing after that is being an actress for Steven's movies ? Don't know if she had any other job throughout the years. And for being 'the One' love interest for the Marc system she sure doesn't seem to make any effort to understand their disorder.

She could be interesting as a contrast to Layla, but I don't see a woman like that getting to be close to the Marc system at any point in the MCU. Maybe as a Jake sidechick? Lmao

They really took what was interesting about Marlene and made an interesting character out of her with Layla.

Wish the Moon Boys could get a good gf like that in the comics !

In the middle of the 2nd episode of Moonknight rn and here are my bets

momma didn't tell marc and steven that they were part of a system

marc was the one to discover

khonshu chose marc, who told him that he was part of a did system, but he could manage.

khonshu thought he'd be easy since if it was just marc, it was going to be a little bit like being part of a system

obvi became a nuisance to khonshu as seen in well, those two episodes
