I like the picrew I just did but can we talk about how the bigger body type is not even plus sized. like I took the base model the picrew gives you when you open it and put them in their underwear so you can see their body clearly:
like that's like a US women's size 2 and a US women's size 10. XXS vs. medium. Incredibly Skinny vs. Real Humans Look Like That Actually.
I just... this artist is talented, and this is an amazing picrew in so many other ways. it has actually diverse skin tones and hair, most importantly. less importantly, there's so many clothing and accessorizing options. it's a very well made picrew, one of the best, dare I say, as a picrew connoisseur. and yet it betrays the fatphobia at the heart of society, where the skinny option is unquestionably underweight, and the "bigger" option is someone who's a bit slimmer than me.
the picrew maker uses the terms "body A" and "body B" rather than referring to the two options as anything else. but when I see someone on tumblr using this picrew, linking it for a game or making characters with it, they near unanimously use and link body A and never body B. this is not the maker's fault, obviously. but it goes to show that even though they almost certainly intentionally avoided words like "skinny" "normal" or "plus sized," we've decided which of these two body types is the normal one, and it's the version that isn't normal in reality.
I don't really like using the word "normal" here, especially when it comes to people's literal bodies. referring to body B as "normal" betrays fatphobia. I mean, the idea of deciding a certain body type is normal and another isn't is fatphobia. and body B is still relatively skinny! I think a better word here is "common." which of these two body types is more common in reality? body B. those are much more common proportions to have. and yet people make themselves with A, link A in their picrew chains, and make characters with A. even though, statistically, most of us do not look like that.

wait what was the media storm during game 7?
media storm as in after going up 3 and dropping the ball the next 3 there was a lot of headlines/media attention that was bandwagoning on edm and calling the cats the worst sports meltdown in history because of the possibility of a reverse sweep when in their opinion the cats shouldve closed this out long before and pauls talked about it right after winning the cup especially the whole TURN THE TVS OFF episode
and montys mentioned walking in on game 7 and seeing the tvs still on when they were supposed to be off (presumably because of said media from what we know of because of what paul said)
lets not even mention how pro-edm a lot of the tnt panel was even during the series and spittin chiclets was notoriously very pro-edm its why during the cam&strick podcast when they bring up the whole "do you pay attention to media? do you know whos on your side?" to ekky (especially considering how much pressure they were under the whole finals) that ekky brings up the spittin chiclets podcast like "i saw all those spittin chiclets guys all over edms bandwagon" and then proceeds to try not elaborate too much about it

Abruptly reminded of the (straight) woman at a birthday pool party who complained that the hotel next door didn't allow women on the basis of it being a place that specifically caters to gay men because 'all spaces are men spaces already' and I'm still inarticulately angry about it tbh

I think it would be neat if we had a story in where like, the ninja all get separated into different places (my best excuse currently is the Merge), and Lloyd ends up somewhere now powerless and all alone, and the only thing that he could rely on to survive and fight is his Oni form, and so he has this journey where he has to rely on his Oni form, and throughout this journey he grows to accept it
I don’t think I worded it the best, but basically what I’m getting at is Lloyd being forced to acknowledge his Oni form, and thus his heritage, instead of rejecting it in favor of his dragon side (edit: okay they don’t really mention him being part dragon ever, but I mean that he only deals with the good side, always rejecting his Oni side), and through this learning to accept it, and likely control it
(Also I think it would be cool to see him use his Oni form after this journey, and while it’s not his main form of attack, he’d use it somewhat regularly and has far more control over it than just be a raging beast. I mean, maybe he doesn’t talk in that form and it is still generally destructive, but he can go in and out of it whenever he wants and won’t attack his friends)

thinking about how the haunting of hill house tv series rlly is kind of in conversation with the book. like the book is about the experience of feeling isolated and depressed and the way it overcomes your life and it contemplates the fantasy of running away and forgetting your problems while the show says gently yes, you are isolated, alone and afraid. you are wounded but you are not in an unfixable situation. you are loved whether you are alive or dead. you can change the future, and you can heal. there was love and there can be again.
