I have no doubt those asks were sent by trolls. I, however, am simply a hater—I see an opportunity to hate, justified or not, I pounce. x]

In ascending order, here are the reasons I think Tomione sucks.

PS: If you know this post is gonna piss you off and press "Keep Reading" anyway - that is entirely on you. Send me anon hate and I'll assume you're a masochist who wants me to spank your pert, round hinie and call you a naughty, naughty girl.

“Book nerd loves book nerd uwu” trope does not fit Tom Riddle, and I find it obnoxious.

Like I touched on when I was first sipping on that haterade, Tom Riddle values usefulness. By this logic, you could easily contrive up a scenario in which he wants to use Hermione’s skills for whatever reason. 

However, the route that is usually taken in Tomione is that Tom is … impressed … by her intellect. A woman… who is… smart? He’s intrigued. 😏 He’s never once met a smart woman in his life before. And certainly not one so independent and feisty. She doesn’t swoon over him like the other girls do (eye roll).

I never got the impression anywhere in canon that Tom Riddle cared much about intellectual pursuits beyond those which were immediately useful to his goals, so for the very basis of a relationship to be his interest in her brains – to me, it’s tedious and off-base.

And also icky honestly lkjdflkj. Hermione’s two crushes are on a couple of stinky smelly boys (Krum, Ron), where the hell do you go off acting like she wants some mysterious, twisted dark boy? I’m offended. 

Absolutely zero chemistry; once Harry steps in, it’s game over

Because these characters lack any common ground, shared values, or compelling circumstances that tether them together, there is zero chemistry. You can try to fabricate those things with a little bit of crack!cocaine, but then you’re forced to contrive a lot of additional personality traits and circumstances that diverge them from their canon selves. (Which yes, you can do, but it only works if you’re gonna do something really interesting.)

As much as people like to har har about how canon doesn’t matter, here’s the truth: yes, it does. Our communities only exist because we’re referencing shared source material. However much you can bend characters around, everyone knows each character has an essence that just “feels like them” on a deeper human level. 

As such, we all know Tom Riddle and Harry Potter are intrinsically connected to each other. In Tomione this presents a conundrum. I could cite dozens of fics, but I’ll stick to two very well-written ones I enjoyed.

In one of them, Tom was a criminal and Harry was a detective on his tail; no matter how many times Tom fingered Hermione, he was always more entangled with Harry, because the stakes and intensity between them were so much grander. Same thing with the other fic but amplified by the Horcrux bond. At their very first encounter, when Tom and Harry laid eyes on each other, they both immediately felt an arresting connection, with distrust and intrigue. Hermione instantly paled in comparison in both stories.

It’s just like the moment Harry steps into the frame, you see how transparent and superficial the “commonalities” between Tom and Hermione ever are. Books and cleverness - oh but Harry, there are more important things! Like being spiritually linked! And sharing unique and intimate traumas in common! 

Heterosexual Tom is truly disgusting to read about

Look–it’s a matter of taste. We’re all products of our environments. For me, no amount of feminism or fantasy can overrule everything I’ve seen and experienced in my life. ( ಠ_ಠ )

I don’t enjoy reading about women in relationships with men who are controlling, violent, and selfish. Even the way Voldemort treats Bellatrix in canon always makes me wince, because I see it like this … here’s this girl who grew up proud; who was beautiful, rich, extremely gifted and powerful; and she turns into this horrible sniveling creature. Say it ain't so! I wish she'd killed him when he broke her ass out of Azkaban.

But back on the topic of Tomione specifically — I think there’s another layer to it, which is the greasy self-insertion aspect which makes me uncomfortably aware of how much the author’s ginie is tingling at the idea of Tom Riddle lifting a brow and saying, “Is that so, Miss Granger?” while she scowls and tells him to fuck off !!!

It’s of course not the self-insertion in itself that’s icky. It’s more just that the type of person who wants to self-insert into that particular heterosexual scenario is, uhh, too basic for me and my big powerful fujo brain.

And I guess that's gets me to the very core of why I find Tomione basic, trifling, and underwhelming. 

Tom Riddle is allowed no faults whatsoever in Tomione

Oh, sure. He’s controlling. He’s mean. He grabs her wrist and says, “What were you doing talking to Malfoy?” 😠

But so... ? Tom Riddle is a deeply embarrassing, mentally unwell trainwreck of a person. He's so much grosser than that. Yet you do not get that feeling at all in most Tomione fics. His worst character traits are often there but they’re made to seem sexy and flattering at all times.

I’m not saying your run-of-the-mill Tomarry fic doesn’t suffer this fatal flaw too—but when it comes down to it, Tomione doesn’t allow for his unsexy fallibility, period. Because the sexiness of the ship really depends on heteronormative romantic tropes and fantasies, which tend to be quite rigid and narrow. 

And I understand and empathize with why this is; just look at Reddit, so many women in heterosexual relationships already must put up with mortifying, embarrassing, and unhygienic things (y’all know which posts I mean 🙁). 

That’s just not what I’m here for. I love Tom Riddle because he’s a superficial narcissistic lunatic with no self-awareness and emotionally stunted outlook.

I don’t want to hear how he terrified the orphans if I’m not gonna hear about how he pissed the bed and got his bare ass whipped by a mean, toothless matron for chatting in sermon. I don’t care to see him bossing around those wimps at Hogwarts if there’s not at least one student who looks at “ENEMIES OF THE HEIR BEWARE” written in blood and feels tummy-churning secondhand embarrassment.

Korrasami Secret Santa 2023!! ;DD!!

Hi, Korrasami fam!! We're back!! ;D!!

We're doing Korrasami Secret Santa for 2023!! (Sike, I did not copy this part from Korrasami Secret Secret 2022, but the rest I will LOOL). 6 years and kicking, babey, let's go ;DD!!

The rules are the same:

Korrasami creators will be able to gift one another with Secret Santa gifts. Whether it be fics, art, videos, animations…the fun’s all there! (It doesn’t have to be holiday-themed! It can be whatever you want :)

The Process:

This Secret Santa exchange will be done through drawnames.com, which is a Secret Santa Name Generator. You’ll need your email for this, and you can message me it directly on Tumblr (I’ll gather everyone’s names up, and put them into the generator when it’s time to draw names.)

The due date to sign up is 11:59 PM Nov 30, 2023 PDT (I’d like everyone to have ample time to do their Secret Santa gifts). :)

Most likely, you’ll need to make an account on drawnames.com (you don’t need to, but it’s recommended.  When you get to writing your Wish List on there, under ‘Hobbies and Interests’, make two different lists: One for ‘Fic Requests’, the other for ‘Art Requests’. If a writer draws your name, you’ll have a suggestion for what you want them to write. If an artist draws your name, they’ll have an idea of what to create! (Also, originally, this project only had fanfic and fanart- but if anyone can contribute any other talents, that’d be swell!)

Example: Fic Request- I want Korra and Asami cuddling at home with a fireplace!

Art Request: I want Korrasami going otter-penguin sledding!

The fic and art requests can be the same, or they can be different. Please limit it to one, or if you can’t choose, then two options. You can also note things that you don’t want (i.e. No smut or NSFW work!). You can be as specific as you wish.

buut! my personal headcanon is:

• carmilla didn’t really expect to fall for velvette, i mean in my head she just saw her as so… respectless and dumb and stupid and careless and carefree and wild and free and pretty- wait

yeah, so in my head velvette was the first to initiate anything and at first carmilla was like “ha! no way, you stupid girl” but then she started to think more and more about velvette as the time went on and one day she just got along the fact that she might be attracted to the young overlord and somehow… went with it? like she didn’t make a big deal out of it… but velvette definitely did, despite the fact she was actually the first one to say or act on her attraction in any way.

MC with DID

DID; Dissociative Identity Disorder, a disorder characterized by the presence of two or more personalities, usually formed as a result from trauma to avoid harmful memories.

A/N; I have DID and my brain keeps wanting to write headcannons about the bros and everyone else with an MC with DID- so this is what this post is! It’s extremely self indulgent but I’ll try my best to involve as much of the differences of personal accounts with DID as possible.

They’d all feel surprised by a condition like that. It would be a thing that’s more frequent in humans and very rare in angels and demons, they’d probably even show differently to, so needless to say they’re all intrigued in their own way.

All of them will probably ask about your alters, how many there are, how frequent (if at all) you switch alters, what personalities each alter has, etc.

Lucifer and Satan would definitely see the similarities of DID with the birth of Satan. Which leads to both of them shivering with the thought of being stuck in the same body as each other.

But for that reason they’d both feel like they have a deeper connection with you, even if it’s not the same, it’s similar enough to bond over it.

Levi and Satan would definitely find characters in their respective fiction stories that look/act like your alters.

Asmo would give your alters different wardrobes, makeup looks, and nail arts. He hast to make sure you all know he loves each and every one of you equally!

Beel would test you and see which alter likes different foods, he even makes it a game to see which alter is fronting just by what you eat.

Belphie would be the chillist, it’s not like he doesn’t care about you, he just takes it as “oh cool, that’s something I didn’t know, whatev’” although he would secretly pick up on the voice changes between your alters, even if they’re subtle. He’d even figure out which alters they belong to and call you by that alter name, just to tease you a little bit.

Mammon would brush it off as no big deal, which it truly isn’t to him, but he’ll make it his life goal to know which alter is fronting when ever he’s near you. Like it’s his right of passage as your “first”, it’s honestly just a sweet gesture. He will get mad that Belphie picked up in the voices faster than he did tho-

Satan it’d probably be a thing he didn’t realize could happen and now he’s deep diving in book and over all knowledge about DID, he hast to know! It’s intrigues him so much, besides his human has it, that’s enough reasoning for him. I can see him getting slightly worried about what MC went through to have this, but overall impressed by how resilient the human brain is.

Barbatos, Diavolo, and Simeon would think the same. They’d all secretly praise you and maybe even look up to you about how strong you are. (All if them would but these three especially.)

Luke, he’d want to draw all of your alters, no matter what they look like, and if it’s take awhile because of how many there might be. In the end you’ll have the drawings pinned on your wall collage style.

Solomon probably heard about it at one point or another, but never really looked into it. He’d become like a walking question air. He means it respectfully of course, he also wonders if it’ll have affect on your magic. Well now he knows what your next lesson will be.

All of them would help you remember stuff, I know for me I forgot small every day stuff, like the last time I showered, or if I had eaten. So they’d all remind you, maybe even have you write down when you’d last eaten and stuff on a note pad you carry around to help you. (If you’re ok with that idea of course. Knowing me I’d lose it 24/7)

If you have little alters, they’d love them to. Lucifer, Barbatos, and Simeon’s more paternal sides come out with them and definitely become a sort of parental figure towards them. Mammon would be the protective older brother towards them, Beel and Belphie would be the chill siblings to them, always down to cuddle and happily snack with them. Satan would read them books, Asmo would dress them up, and Levi would find games they both can play.

If you switch rapidly/out of no where, they’d all at first a little startled at how out of no where it could be, but it quickly falls into the normal. If you’d forget stuff between the switches, they’ll rewind a little and continue the convo like nothing happened.

Let’s be honest, there’s such a wide range of people here that your alters would come out more with certain people. So they’d all at one point realize this when you’re talking rather profoundly with Mammon and Levi, then on a dime acting similarly to Barb when he, Dia, and Lucifer come around. They’d all try to figure out which alter hangs around them more.

A smile creeps upon your face as you hear the sound of Vernon’s laughter fill the room. It’s the sound you’ve been missing for hours; ever since your best friend arrived at your dorm, complaining about a horrible lecture he sat through. Turning to the source of the sound, your smile widens when you spot the fond look on Vernon’s face as he stares at his phone.

“What are you watching?” you ask, wondering which particular cat video holds his attention.

It must be a good one, you think to yourself considering Vernon doesn’t even spare you a glance when he answers. “The Tiktok you posted the other day,” he simply says.

“Huh?”

“Yeah, the one of you impersonating Seungkwan when he does—”

“Wait, what—?”

“You look super cute here with the way your nose scrunches up—”

“HUH??” He thinks I’m cute?? Since when??

“Yeah, you always do this little thing with your nose—”

“Wait a minute,” you hold your hand up in the gap between his face and his phone, desperate to catch his attention before he goes on any longer. So many questions are flying through your head and you decide on asking him a safer one, afraid that you may be overthinking his previous comment about being cute. “Since when did you get a Tiktok account?”

Sitting up from his spot on the couch, Vernon ponders for a moment and replies, “Ever since you started making content.” The shock must be evident on your face because he adds, “Seungkwan showed me one of your videos awhile back and I didn’t want to miss out on how cute you were being. So, I created my own account.”

There he goes with that word again. 

Grimacing, you sit yourself down next to him, body sagging to take the shape of the couch. You can only lift your hands and cover your face in embarrassment, wondering about what Vernon thinks of all the cringe videos you’ve done so far. He does keep saying that you’re cute, but you know he only means it in a friendly way. Deep down you know that he doesn’t see you the way that you see him — someone who’s more than just a friend.

“Actually, I’m glad we’re talking about Tiktok,” Vernon mentions to break you out of your misery. “Because I found this one trend that I really want to try with you.”

“Consider my curiosity piqued,” you reply as you sit up. “Which one are we talking about?”

Grinning, Vernon scoots closer to you, eliminating any space between you before showing you his phone. “They’re calling it ‘The Phone Trend’,” he explains with a hint of nervousness. “They give you a prompt and each person goes through their Instagram, Snapchat or whatever and quickly shows the profile of the person they think fits the prompt.”

Understanding dawns on you, “Yeah, I’ve actually seen this one the other day. I’m game if you are?”

“Yeah, let’s do it,” Vernon tries to sound enthusiastic but you know him well enough to know that something’s amiss.

“We don’t have to record it,” you offer to reassure him and you smile as the relief floods his features. Turning to face him on the couch, you get your phone and ready yourself as he does the same. “Hm, for the first one, let’s go with… somebody we hate. I’ll go first.”

Taking less than ten seconds to scroll through your social media, you find the profile you’re looking for and quickly show it to Vernon before taking it back. 

“Wait, Cassie from my Liberal Arts class?” he asks, confused. 

“Yeah, there’s something about her that I don’t like,” you shrug, not wanting to reveal that you see her as a rival because she had a crush on him too. “Okay, your turn.”

Vernon barely shows you his phone but you catch just enough of the person’s profile picture to know who he chose. “Wait, isn’t that Ian? My blind date guy?”

“I didn’t like him,” he answers, nonchalantly. 

“But, he was super nice! He even walked me back and kissed me—”

“Anyway, let’s move on,” Vernon interrupts suddenly. “Let’s go with someone we think is funny…”

The two of you spend the next half an hour going through various prompts and various profiles, exclaiming and laughing all throughout. Now, it’s Vernon’s turn to choose again and you wonder why he suddenly clears his throat and takes a deep breath — like he’s hyping himself up for something. “Okay, we’ve been pretty safe so far,” he says to test the waters. “Let’s go for something serious now.”

“Ooft, let’s do it. Do your worst, Nonny.”

A fond smile graces his features at his favourite nickname from you before blurting out, “Okay, let’s go with someone you have feelings for.”

“Whoa, there buddy,” you laugh nervously. “Are we sure about this?”

“I am,” he beams proudly and you note that he already has his phone ready. Whether it’s because he’ll be going first or another reason, you don’t know. Sensing your hesitation, Vernon gently grabs your other hand and rubs circles on the back of it in reassurance. “It’ll be fine, I promise.”

Nodding, you scroll through your instagram until you reach Vernon’s profile. Biting your lip, you nod again to let him know that you’re ready. 

With a hard grip on his phone, Vernon turns his phone slowly to face you but this time, he doesn’t make any moves to take his phone back or hide it, leaving you to stare at the person’s profile in question.

“But, that’s me?” you ask softly albeit a little confused. “I thought the prompt was someone that you have feelings for? You don’t—”

“Now, let’s go for someone you want to kiss,” he interrupts once more, not bothering to move his phone an inch. Looking you straight in the eye, you feel him bare his heart and soul to you.

Oh.

Oh.

“Since when?” you query as your heart thrums in anticipation. 

“Since always,” Vernon laughs. “I think it was when you face planted after meeting me. You must’ve thought I was so hot—”

“I— i-it was— I was probably shocked about how big your head was!” you exclaim as you pat down your cheeks that are heating up. Opening your mouth to utter another retort, you stop dead in your tracks when you see Vernon’s face staring hard at your lap. The lap where your phone is. The phone where his profile is.

“That’s me,” he whispers softly. You watch as a smile slowly forms on his face and his shoulders visibly relax. Fondly, Vernon’s eyes then roam from your phone to your face. “You have feelings for me too. Since when?”

You can’t stop yourself from replying even if you wanted to. “Since I face planted after meeting you.”

Vernon’s hearty laugh fills the room once more. “Can I kiss you yet?” he asks daringly, leaning forward and nuzzling his nose against yours. 

Nodding in consent, you instinctively close your eyes and brace yourself. A needy whine escapes you as Vernon keeps you waiting and you feel the ghost of his smile against your lips. Before you can complain further, he connects your lips together in a soft and hesitant kiss, that turns more sure and insistent when he feels you kiss him back.

If you could describe what kissing him feels like, only one word comes to mind. Kissing Vernon feels like home — like there’s no place you’d rather be and you could stay doing this, forever. However, with the need to breathe becoming prominent, you both reluctantly pull away and break out into a fit of giggles.

“I can’t believe you confessed using a Tiktok trend,” you tease.

“Now that you mention it, we can do the ‘Date Night’ trend for our first date…”

“ah, hyung, i’ll get going now, see you next thursday,” the enthusiastic second year engineering major jaemin had befriended waved goodbye to his senior, flashing a grin as he packed up his things and set off.

“see y– wait, jake! you almost left your camera bag,” jaemin called after him, handing him his belongings, “what’s got you in such a rush? you’d never leave your camera behind.”

the younger boy turned to retrieve his stuff, bowing to show his gratitude, “oh, thank you so much, hyung, i would’ve gone insane if i left this. my best friend’s waiting for me and she did not appreciate the extra time eunjin noona took at the end of the session–she’s impatient and hungry and it’s my turn to pay for dinner so if i don’t hurry up, i have to deal with a hangry y/n for longer than i’d like.”

“sim jaeyun! come on!” the voice of who jaemin assumed to be the ‘hangry y/n’ caught his attention, however, the annoying image he had envisioned in his head did not match up with the beauty he laid eyes on.

“calm down! i was just thanking jaemin hyung for giving me my camera back, which i wouldn’t have forgotten if you weren’t rushing me, geez,” jake rolled his eyes as he turned his back to you, mouthing a ‘see you’ to jaemin as he hurried to the door, “i’m coming, i’m coming!”

after packing away all of his equipment, jaemin set off on his way home, not forgetting to bow to eunjin on his way out.

“sorry, jakey, i just couldn’t wait,” he heard a much gentler version of the voice before from in front of him. looking up from his phone, jaemin recognised the two figures in front of him as the bickering best friends he’d encountered not even a few minutes ago.

“couldn’t wait to what? drain my bank account?” jake’s joking questions were met with complete silence, “oh, i see how it is!”

“kidding! i meant that i couldn’t wait to spend time with you now that you’re not busy with that big, mechanic… project, uh, thing. yes, i know what it’s called, i just don’t want to say all those long sciency words,” your whining brought a smile to jaemin’s face, having heard similar words from his own arts major friends.

his smile only grew as he crossed the road and saw you almost trip over the curb from laughing so hard at whatever jake had said next, too preoccupied by your joyous laughter and the way you beamed at your friend to have heard.

jaemin sighed as he looked on, wondering how fulfilling it would be to be the cause of that pretty smile or the reason behind your contagious giggles. or, to put it simply, he wondered how fulfilling it would be to loved.

How to balance all your interests when you have multiple passions?

I’ve been pondering how to balance all my different passions, interests, and side hustles, as I’m the kind of person who tends to love variety and easily gets excited about new projects. It’s often the completion part that I struggle with! This is a fairly common conundrum for certain personality types, and can also be related to conditions like ADHD. It can be really hard to know how to streamline and simplify things to make it more manageable and less chaotic.

Chronic illness can be a factor here too, as I often start a new project in a high energy period, but then may not have the physical energy to easily complete it. It can be hard to know how to handle this sometimes, as I can’t predict how I’ll feel from day to day or week to week. Sometimes I just have to let something go for a while, and accept that I will come back to it later. I also accept that there’s some projects I will abandon, and I don’t see it as a major problem as long as there’s no financial investment.

So how do you handle this tendency? 

I personally find it’s best to embrace it, and find ways to work around it rather than trying to pigeonhole myself into only one project, passion or interest at a time. However, if you’re trying to make money, earn an income or build a business - and you need to pay the bills with it to survive - then you will probably need to narrow down to one thing at a time for work. You can still allow yourself freedom to explore in your free time, though.

For example, I love borrowing a wide range of books from the library, and reading about a bunch of different topics at once. Switching from one book to another works for me and I find it stimulating. The great thing is that the books all get returned to the library, so they don't create long-term clutter. I also enjoy writing blog posts about a range of different topics, rather than sticking to one particular subject.

Same goes for my art - I have one style that I sell commercially, and then do whatever I want in the rest of my spare time as it captures my fancy. I find creating different IG/Tumblr accounts for particular art styles/niches works well. If it becomes popular and sells it's a cool bonus, but I don't worry too much about it making money. Digital art is great because it doesn't take up storage space, so I'm shifting from doing large pieces on canvas to doing more digital art.

Having said all that, I do have a bunch of blogs and Tumblr accounts floating around on the internet that I've forgotten about and largely abandoned. Same with old creative projects in storage. But it's okay, because I enjoyed exploring that idea/hobby/style for a brief period of time. Sometimes I go back and integrate creative stuff from the past into my current projects (for example, taking an old blog post and updating it for my current blog).

It can become a problem if you waste a lot of money on hobbies you forget about or business ideas that never get off the ground, so I’d recommend finding ways to avoid spending too much money to begin with. Ideally, it’s best to spend no money and find free activities, but obviously this is not always possible. My post about Decluttering My Fantasy Self may be relevant if this is you.

If you're multipassionate, I don't think there's one right or wrong way to manage your interests and hobbies. Some people like to focus intensely on one hobby at a time, then move on to something else. Others enjoy moving between different interests simultaneously to keep them stimulated. I've done both at different times in my life. Emilie Wapnick has a great book about this called How to Be Everything which is more focused on career, but you can apply the same principles to hobbies and side hustles as well.

Slow-Down Announcement

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for your patience during my break, my move, and through the holidays. It means a lot that you’d all be so generous as to keep paying me while you wait. In general, your continued support is incredibly important to me. And as much as I appreciate it, I will have to ask you for a bit more patience.

Ko-Fi was an experiment I started to see if it was practical for me. I was excited about the response my AUgust 2022 prompts had gotten, and I wanted to see how my audience would respond to access to more of my writing and more of my process. I was also curious to see if I could use Ko-Fi to grow my audience, or supplement my writing career. Building a brand online is difficult, but I couldn’t let an opportunity like this slip by me.

After about 15 months, I can say I’ve had a lot of fun on Ko-Fi. I love Magnet Mondays, I like sharing what happens behind-the-scenes, and giving you all sneak peaks of what’s to come. Like I said, I’m forever grateful you thought my art to be worth paying monthly for in the first place, it’s not something I ever dreamed people would do for me. Unfortunately, posting on Ko-Fi as regularly as I wanted has become impractical for my schedule and mental health.

Keeping up with the rate of posting I promised—weekly, biweekly, and monthly, over my various categories—isn’t sustainable in my current environment. If I had the opportunity to do nothing but write for 8-hours a day, 5-days a week, it would be easy! I would have plenty of time to share my writing with you, continue my personal projects, and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Sadly, my writing schedule is not so generous. My full-time office job cuts into my creative time a lot, and stacking the self-imposed obligations of my Ko-Fi schedule on top of that means that I’m “at work” a lot more than I otherwise would be.

Long story short, I’m getting fatigued trying to keep pace with Ko-Fi updates. I’m going to be slowing down my activity here, and prioritize what I can do without burning myself out. I have a flexible plan that I’ve been developing, so you know where you can find me outside of Ko-Fi if you’d still like to follow my work elsewhere.

First, Magnet Mondays are sticking around, but this time for free. Polls are easier than counting comments, so I’ll be hosting the weekly vote and the poems on my ink-flavored Tumblr account. I really don’t want to give up doing Magnet Mondays, since it was a lot of fun for me (and for you all too, I hope). The first poll will go up this Sunday (January 7th) and the first poem will go up the next Monday (January 15th), so I hope I’ll see you all on Tumblr! I’ll still post the final poems here on Ko-Fi for organization's sake.

Second, one of my goals for 2024 is to be more active on my new Neocities website. The freedom of having my own writing website where I can post whatever I want without the need to be overly professional like a portfolio, and no risk of getting my content reported like on social media, means that I can share a lot more of what I write. Please do check it out, and feel free to sign the guestbook while you’re there!

More generally, I want to migrate some of the Typewriter-tier behind-the-scenes posts to Tumblr and Neocities, so more people can see what goes on under the hood when I write. I don’t have imminent plans to share the exclusive content on Saturdays anywhere else—save for things like AUgust, which are already all free—but I won’t write it off.

Finally, as for the fate of this Ko-Fi account, I’ll be reworking the tiers a bit. Magnet Mondays will be free, so it can’t be a perk, and my plan is to post behind-the-scenes or exclusives sporadically, whenever I feel like I have something to share. I’ll keep the BTS to Wednesdays and the exclusives to Saturdays, but that will be the only consistency in scheduling. Nothing from the Manuscript tier needs to change, since I don’t plan on halting commissions.

Thank you all for being so understanding, and for being so generous this past year and a bit. I’m happy I even had the opportunity to try this out, and it would have been over before it started if I didn’t have people like you.

Hello, is everything ok?

You know, I’ve been thinking about how to answer this for far longer than I should have. So I’ll just be honest. The short answer is…no, not really. But another answer is that I’m not, like, poorly off. I imagine this question was asked in regards to the little post I made to acknowledge that all the blood sweat and tears crwby and co went through on account of the RT fiasco and then deleted. And that may have felt a lil cryptic and weird for you guys in regards to how little I’ve been posting anything.

I’ve got a lot of stuff going on at the moment, but also some personal stuff. Mostly it’s the medical and financial stuff that really worries me. I’ve got a respiratory thing going on and a thing that makes me phenomenally exhausted all the time. As well as a long term chronic illness Ivey lived with almost my whole life that’s also frustrating.

It’s also frustrating that I have a lot of creative stuff halfway started or like almost started, but I just lack whatever it is to pull me through to the finish. Fumes? Motivation? Not sure. It’s all stuff I want to finish an then stick on the tumblr fridge and say, “Lookie lookie!”

But I’m just constantly tired, and sick, and drained.

There’s a lot of work I want to get out there—fan works and original stuff, but I just don’t have the stamina right now, let alone wondering if I can even be successful doing what I do? It takes me forever to finish anything I do. And I sometimes wonder if I should just jump ship to writer-only career stuff versus art-only career stuff. I love doing both, but it’s wearing me down trying to do them in such a fruitless manner.

And I’m sure this is just the latest bout of burnout and depression, but I just haven’t found the right tools to help me cope yet, but I’ll get there.

Anyway, thanks for checking up on me. I apologize if that was kind of a downer. Truthfully, I’ve been getting better in recent days.

I'm going to be starting my very first commissions soon! I am very excited but do you have any tips on what I should and shouldn't do?

Oh that’s very exciting! Hmm I have a post somewhere but I’ll just answer anyways 😂 This is gonna be insanely long

- Don’t be disappointed if you don’t get a huge amount of people asking at first. It’s all about drawing people in and growing an audience! If you don’t have an audience yet, it’s always worth it to market and advertise pretty well. Multiple social medias, using common tags, promoting in say, is discord server if you’re in one or something, all that jazz

- Pricing is very difficult and it’ll fluctuate and change over time. You’re not gonna get it down first try, and they’ll change with your workflow and what you realize you can and can’t do/handle! Personally, I took the amount of time I take on each canvas and estimated some average times (I.e. a rendered bust takes me 1.5-2 hours) and multiplied that by ah, $30 I think at first? And then doubled my prices later down the road

- Additionally however, pricing in such a way that you make good money for your time is important but, and I can’t stress this enough, PLEASE consider the people you’re advertising your work to and who follows you, what communities you’re in, etc. For myself, I’ve recently began to aim for higher quality clients who can pay more all at once and so I can get more money with less commissions stacked in my queue. Thus why my lowest price is still quite high. If you want more frequent clients, most often it’s best to keep your prices relatively low but still good value for you. Again, it’s all about finding that balance and figuring out your workflow

- Speaking of workflow, there’s no one right way to do commissions. Your process is your own and from my experience, I’ve gone through a bunch of different processes with different people! Haha, I’ve even signed a contract once to really seal the deal on the terms and conditions. Make it your own! Be as professional as you feel the need to or not. Do whatever makes you comfortable as long as it’s not at the expense of the client, of course

- You may or may not be contacted by spam bots and other accounts about your work. Believe me, it’ll happen once or twice that you might be scammed if you’re not careful (it’s happened to me twice) but if I could say, it’s usually accounts with names that don’t match their icons, using little/terrible punctuation and very automated repsonses, requesting work that’s not what you do usually, requesting work of family members/pets, offering very large sums of money, whatever else. Just be safe!

- Hmmm what else….

- Make sure you have plenty of examples of your work and the style of art/coloring that you’re advertising. If you’re offering something new, just get like 3-4 examples in and have a consistent process before having people pay money for it. I love my current rendering style but I had to wait til I had a few to know how I wanted to go about offering it as a new coloring style and how it’s different from what I would typically do

- Some clients are definitely rude and pester. It’s okay to put your foot down and say you’re not comfortable working with them. Personally, I offer up other artists if that’s the case (within reason, I don’t send rude people generally but sometimes clients get frustrated with you because you’re not the kind of artists they’ll end up wanting to work with) or if I’m just not able to do a commission because it’s, for example, out of my skill level or something. Always good to send people to artists who are open for work

- I’m actually learning this myself but if you’re working with someone who’s well known (I.e. I worked with good ol Xisumavoid), having T&Cs is useful for those larger clients. Xisuma actually gave me his terms and conditions to fill out in the invoices so if the client has that as well, it works that way too! And again, if you have questions or you’re uncomfortable by someone else’s T&Cs, say that! Believe me, they’ll work with you if they truly intend to use your work (bless that man, he was so kind and transparent about the whole process)

- Of courses you are just starting out but you never know!

That’s pretty much he main stuff. Just make sure it’s seen and clear, you’re valued and understand your value, and that everything you’ll be doing is all up to you. If you have artists friends (or myself) that you’d ever need input from, give them (or me) a holler! This is all just me, other artists have more or different ways they’d suggest going about things so if you don’t agreed with anything I’ve said, that’s alright 😌

Oooooooooo. Oh no. I’m breaking my super mysterious persona to use tumblr as a personal trauma dumping diary aur naur !!!!!!!! Uh vent under cut but I really R E A L L Y Need to reiterate I’m not looking for pity or sympathy at all I just need a place to write all this down!!!!!! I’m obviously not the first person to say this but I REALLY REALLY HATE the passage of time. I hate that it’s almost the new years and all of my art and posts and other peoples art is gonna be from last year or just have the ‘2023’ label on it. I hate that people are going to move on from my interests and I am TERRIFIED that IIIIIII may also move on. That scares me so unbelievably bad. I hate it so so much I hate that I can’t just pause time or pause my anxiety or autism or ocd to make me stop worrying for two seconds. I hate that so many things are gonna be in the past- like what do you MEAN re4r is gonna be a YEAR OLD in March of next year???????? I cant do that shit man!!!!!!! I can’t see people move on!!!!!!!!!

I HATE being reminded of how fickle everything is so so so SO much. Everytime E V E R Y T I M E something good happens to me, it’s paired with something bad- literally every time without fail. I hate that I can’t enjoy those good things cuz I’m subconsciously constantly waiting for something bad to happen.

For the first time since I came out to my parents in March 2022 I feel like I actually have a future to look forward to. I feel like I actually have things to work towards!!!!!! Projects I can start!!!!!!!! Friends to enjoy them with!!! Things to be EXCITED about!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But then like clockwork I’m brutally reminded of the fact that that could all come crashing down and all of my friends could dissapear off of the face of tumblr forever and it’s all fickle and delicate and why should I enjoy the present if I know bad things are gonna come right after???????????

I hate that this thing that’s brought me comfort and security in my life is so delicate. I could get hate crimed and ran off the internet like what happened on Twitter, my account could get deleted, Etc etc-

And worst of all I could loose my friends in the blink of an eye. They could take a break one day and never return. Something could happen to them and I’d never know. They could leave tumblr forever with no warning and I’d have no way of contacting them whatsoever. It’s happened before to me and it caused me SO much anxiety. I’ve had friends who’ve gone on breaks only to pass away and it leaves me wishing I’d DONE ANYTHING to help them or wishing that I spent more time with them or told them I loved them just a lil mroe

I’ve been so stressed out trying to finish as much stuff as I can before the end of the year cuz of arbitrary rules I’ve set for myself. This is the first time I get to be excited for the future yet I’m constantly knocked down and reminded WHY I SHOULDNT be excited.

Everything’s moving on and everything’s so delicate it could all slip away from me in a the blink of an eye and getting to the end of the year and seeing friends take breaks or say that they may have to leave for whatever reason is only making that anxiety worse.

Not to mention my goddamn parents got a divorce. I havent talked about it hete often cuz I feel like if I did it’d be all I talked about NDNEHENEJWN but it’s taken a MASSIVE toll on me. The fact that they’ll never be the same and I’ll never feel completely secure in life ever again has taken its toll on me.

I hate that there’s no solution to this. ‘Just move on/keep going in spite’ doesn’t work for me. I don’t WANT things to move on I don’t WANT things to change I don’t WANT to loose my friends and the community I’ve worked so hard to build and everything I’ve created again. I don’t wanna move on and it hurts so bad.

I don’t want the new years to roll around.

OC & Art Request Master Post

I think it’s about time I had one of these! This has been in my drafts since June last year… It feels weird making an introduction when I’ve been on Tumblr for so long now but now I’m more active I feel it’s appropriate.

You can call me whatever you want, but I’m partial to Cadence, Cady, or Picapica! I’m an adult, she/her, and I’m completely crazy over all things birds and Sing (I also like MLP, Helluva Boss, Pokemon, HTTYD, Sonic, and Godzilla). 90% of my posts are about my self ship, but I occasionally post about whatever random Sing thought is rotting my brain at the time. I also like to take art requests, art trades, and draw gifts for friends 💖 I’m also currently running Sing text posts into the ground.

‼️‼️IMPORTANT: Obviously I am a self shipper. I self ship only with Klaus Kickenklober. For deeply personal reasons, it causes me a lot of distress to see him in other ships. If I have to see other content of him being shipped with another character, canon or oc, I will have to unfollow/block. Sorry for being super sensitive about it, I wish I wasn’t, but it’s a boundary I cannot compromise. I don’t mind if people like or dislike him though and respect it as long as they respect my love for him.‼️‼️

This blog is SFW, however I have a Twitter account for all my nsfw content. It has art and “bonus” fic chapters about Klaus solo and with Cadence. However it’s a very personal account and I’m very picky about who I let access it. You can DM me if you’re interested, but I need to know you really well (well enough to know you’re an adult) and be comfortable about it. I am not comfortable with giving access to minors (obviously), and to people who ship with Klaus.

Art Trades/Requests Information under the cut:

I am very much an amateur, hobbyist artist but I don’t mind doing requests or trades! However I have some rules:

‼️I will not draw or write anything to do with Klaus Kickenklober, unless it involves my oc. He is a very important and personal character to me.‼️

‼️I will not draw or write about any Buster Moon ships, canon or oc. MoonJewel ride or die‼️

🪶 I can do art or fanfic trades, but fanfic trades are limited to one-shots because I am a s l o w writer and I don’t want to commit to a multi chapter fic and then lose the will to live. Fanfics are for trades only, I don’t take writing requests because it takes me so long.

🪶 All the usual blacklist stuff - no racism, sexism, anti-lgbtq, dubcon, anything hateful/political, MAP, etc etc. Also no fetish artwork - if you try masking your fetish in a request I will notice and I will not do it. No kink-shaming here, but I’m not interested in someone trying to trick me into providing for their spank bank.

🪶 I’m really not fussy about specifics, I can trade a fic for art or art for a fic or whatever. I don’t mind the other person’s skill level because I’m not very good myself!

🪶 No nsfw art as I’m not good at it but I’m happy to write smut for a trade providing the other person is 18+. No nsfw requests. Nsfw will not be posted to my blog which is strictly sfw, but shared privately via email instead. Remember that Tumblr bans nsfw.

🪶 I can’t draw humans, humanoids, or robots. I can try, but be prepared to be disappointed. Backgrounds will be just coloured or very simple.

🪶 Requests are totally up to my discretion. As I get nothing in return for my time, I do them only if I like the idea and will decline if I don’t. It’s not likely I’ll take an oc request, I usually only draw ocs for a trade. Requests are also lowest priority for me - I will draw them when I feel like it and give no time frame. It may or may not be coloured. Please don’t spam me with multiple requests. Please be polite and remember, if you’re getting free art, don’t expect it immediately! I don’t always post requests and gifts to my blog to avoid spam but feel free to repost with credit.

🪶 Art trades are highest priority for me. Because there is someone else putting in time of their own, I will try to finish asap usually within a week. Order of priority goes: 1. Trades, 2. Personal stuff for myself (including gifts for friends if I want to), 3. Requests. Also when someone makes me a gift I almost always make them one in return.

🪶 I’m pretty good at researching all different characters and fandoms. I don’t have a fandom blacklist.
