I think so much about Ford's line "And isn't it suffocating?" when Dipper says he's never been away from Mabel. Side barring how insane it is to project onto a twelve yr old boy, I think it really shows how Ford's perception of his and Stan's relationship has perverted over the forty years they were apart. We know they were close at Mabel and Dipper's age. But Ford's convinced himself that it was always bad, that his brother always had poor intent for him, always held him back, because if that's wrong, if his brother really did make a mistake, then it means he doubted the brother that loved him and he loved in turn.

Okay, have we as a fandom ever stopped and properly acknowledged how fucking smart Stan is? Like the level of not just social but also mathematical intelligence Stan seems to possess is fucking INSANE! Because he had to maintain that portal until he got the last book. He had to keep that thing in functioning condition until he could get Ford back. And I'm pretty sure Ford didn't have that vending machine door when Stan got there—I don't think people sell something like that. Let's be real he probably had to make that thing! He managed to fake his identity for THIRTY YEARS with everyone being none the wiser—that means he managed to evade the IRS!

That man is EXTREMELY intelligent, science and mathematics just don't interest him like they interested Ford—if they did he'd probably be working for NASA or some shit.

bill and his endless loathing for stan, the fact that stan beat him with a trick that they used as a kid and bill seeing all the traits he hates most about himself reflected in stan

stan being able to read bill like a book and encouraging ford to forget about that creep, while part of him is still stuck thinking about bill and realising the extent bill hurt his family back when he was completely oblivious to him

the contrast of bill being offered the chance at redemption for destroying his world but refusing it, while it's been stated that stan knowingly risked the destruction of the world all for the chance of being redeemed

wait you and jordan li, fwb as always, and you're a painter and your art finally gets put in a gallery. you're keeping it quiet though, but let it slip to cate, who tells the rest of the friend group and they all plan to show up and support you as a surprise!!!

meanwhile jordan is kinda hurt that your art means so much to you but you didn't invite them. they're your best friend. fine, don't invite everyone else who loves you but i'm me? and it just kinda reopens the wound they have of feeling like you're their best friend and they're not yours. like you don't even like me as a friend as much as i like you. obviously you're not in love with me. but they drag themselves to the gallery, mad as fuck, trying to put a smile on their face because it's a surprise anyways.

and yeah they are actually a little hurt when you notice the group in the crowd waving at you and your smile disappears. fuck them, i guess?? and then you have to give your little speech before everyone walks into your room and sees all the works and jordan is only half listening: "blah blah blah the feeling that you get with your first love blah blah blah"

you give me two characters who are not quite human and are defined by their compassion and softness and then you make them be each other's sole companions for 400 years and make them co-govern a nation together and then you also reveal that they were both more or less the two only puppets in a larger-than-life play against the authority of the literal heavens and neither of them fully understood the role they were playing and then you make one turn against the other and make them watch a part of the other die and all this sacrifice and pain ends up saving a lot of people's lives, but it also ends with them away from each other for the first time in four centuries with a million things unspoken and you expect me not to ship them????
