excuse me i need to Muse on something for a moment
so in Wally's secret 'vinyl' audios, specifically the last few (if we're listening to em in chronological order), obviously he starts to sound more strained/distressed. his breathing is more labored, like it's taking all of his energy to make contact.
but the audio that really caught my attention was the "But i still can't see" one. cause he just said he has more eyes than he did before. he knows We draw them a lot, and it's thanks to that that he can see. but he still can't see?
so my question is: where is Wally physically? cause although he can (assumedly) see the WHRP goings on, he can see through the eyes We draw, that could all be on a, uh... more Intangible level of sight. like the spiral pit is forming an eye, and then there's the eye on the ceiling in the secret Staff Only section - could Wally be in the pit, that space between his reality and Ours, "watching" through the eyes? but unable to actually see with due to the pit being pitch black nothingness? is he somewhere else? is he stuck? he can see, but he can't... see.
(or is he trying to explain an abstract concept - he's not actually viewing anything, but he can sense it. like how he knows We're there, even if he can't see or hear Us. but he just doesn't have the words to describe it other than using physical senses - see, hear, look.)
and him saying "...that I can see. But it is still... I can't..." but it's still what, Wally? dark? something else that he doesn't have the words to describe, so he just says that he can't see?
i know that in the Livestream Trivia Document (compiled by @/the neighborhoodwatch) there was something said about Wally being in a box. my first thought reading that was "oh, so he's in storage? the physical puppet, i mean?" which would make sense - show's over, there's no more use for him. pack 'em up and put him away. but that paired with the "can't see" audio makes both seem a lil... connected.
Wally can't see > he's likely somewhere dark > the inside of closed boxes are dark > Wally's in a box. (or maybe the Neighborhood is the box? it's a stretch, i know, but the map is a box. television sets are often set up in "boxes". maybe it's less of a physical storage box and more of a 'boxed in' sort of thing...)
one question i've had since the Start of my interest in this incredible project is: how is Wally communicating? how has he connected to the site? how does he connect to our reality? the pit almost definitely has something to do with it - most likely acting as a bridge, or the deteriorating of the barrier between our two 'worlds' - but if Wally is in a box and Not the pit or even just in the puppet's reality... how is he reaching us beyond just seeing through the eyes he's given?
or is he in their reality, and he can contact through the pit or something, but he can't actually see the other side? Our side? he knows it's there - that We're there - but none of it is visible to him. maybe his apparent disassociation in the 14 bug audios is a demonstration of him contacting Us. we can see through him, but it's a one way street.
and speaking of the pit - i just had a thought. his whole thing with Us letting him in, opening... the pit on the neighborhood map is getting bigger and clearer. but the presumed Other Side, the one on the Staff Only ceiling, is small. it's the size of a ceiling panel. it seems to me that Wally is chipping away at his side of the pit or 'portal', trying to reach Our reality, but he needs Us to do the same thing on the other side. the QA can hear him calling, but there's no phone on their (Our) side of the pit. how do We call back???
there's a fundamental barrier & lack of understanding between Wally and the QA/Us. he's trying. he wants to be let in, but what does that mean, really? let him in where? open what? he's desperate. he wants us to understand. he's trying so so hard Without the right tools to clearly communicate what he wants. he can't see Us, We can see him, both know the other is there, but there's no way to connect. and the attempts are hurting all parties involved, however unintentionally

the whole "Sunny is autistic" headcanon is rather... interesting to look at when you consider how the game's narrative frames him. sure let's headcanon the kid whom his friends treat like an infant and compare to a pet animal as autistic. because it's not like that would create any kind of unfortunate implications right
(what's weirder is that Sunny apparently isn't even bothered by those comments. idk about OMORI fans but if I learned my friends think of me as a little child or heard them compare my behavior to someone's pet I'd be very offended lol)

Having Komaeda brainrot is wild because you can read 10 different meta posts and fanworks about him and get 12 different characterisations.
Some are wildly wrong and rely on misunderstandings of the surface-level plot of the game, taking other characters' reactions to him as fact. Some are good-faith attempts that are still off, but understandable if the person has a life outside of thinking about the character; he's intentionally hard to understand and the official translations of some lines and his sarcastic-sounding english voice make it worse.
And then you run into people that write theses and 500-chapter masterpieces displaying just as much brainrot as you, meticulously going through his various appearances, pruning them based on quality, and combining them into a glorious, convoluted map through his many contradictions. People you deeply respect the dedication and critical thought of.
And you still have a different view of him.

Me: has a cancer scare and admits this to coworkers in case I need to leave the front desk (I'm a receptionist) to take or make phone calls.
A month later, during a meeting with my supervisor: So, this is coming from a place of concern... your coworkers are concerned how your personal life is impacting work.
Me: ???
My supervisor: Well, apparently you came into work and immediately made a phone call?
Me: There was absolutely no one in the lobby, no one in exam rooms. Nothing happening. I had to call to schedule two appointments after being in the HOSPITAL on black Friday because I potentially have cancer... I couldn't call after I got discharged from the hospital because it was after 5pm on a Friday and holiday???
My supervisor: You couldn't call from home?
Me: I sleep up until I come in for work and believe it or not, am not sleeping due to stress. I went into an exam room, told the coworker where I would be if she needed me. And this is the SISTER of the woman I had to come to you about harassment complaints. But it's "coming from a place of concern."
Ended up having to have a discussion with my supervisor AND practice manager about this incident and the individual who just blatantly wasn't doing her job. The supervisor likes to shit talk with her about other employees. :)
Months later, my supervisor during another meeting... After I told her that we're all burnt out and mentioned how burnt out I feel inside and outside of the practice.
"And do you think that's impacting your work?"
Me: No???
Recently, my supervisor when multiple people voice concerns that an employee hasn't finished training by the end of August when she was meant to be fully trained by the last week of May: "Well, you don't know about her life outside of work-"

I forgot that it is possible to talk to a friend about a problem and get a response of "how can we find a solution that isn't so hard on you" and not "how dare you have the presumption to stray from the path of doormathood"
Absolutely radical. How did I end up living in a world where people can be like this.

i feel like i had a revelation last night like i really had an "i connected the two dots" moment bc i was watching these video essays about the history of nct and exo respectively and there were two things in particular i thought were interesting
the op pointed out some of the similarities between exo-m and wayv, in the sense that they're both units sm tried to market in china that didn't really succeed in breaking into the chinese market the way they were intended to due to a lack of understanding of the chinese idol market
the fact that nct was originally supposed to have a graduation system that mirrored those seen in jpop with like akb48, and that this plan also fell through
the op also kind of talked about this but it's clear that sm's goals with these things were to a) introduce a graduation system into the kpop industry and b) expand their influence in china (and japan and other countries with the idea of nct tokyo, hollywood, etc. which obviously have not come to fruition)
the reason i found these things interesting is bc there are direct parallels of these goals with pledis groups. after school famously also had a graduation system, which, unlike nct, they did actually use, though it also wasn't successful and the group didn't continue in the long term. and there was also nu'est-m targeted toward promoting in china, which also fell through. you can also see these goals in some of the early plans for "seventeen" which at one point was intended to have 17 set members split into 3 subunits to promote in korea, china, and japan respectively
and for anyone who doesn't know, han sung soo, the ceo and founder of pledis, literally got his start in the idol industry by working for sm and was even a manager for boa before he founded pledis, so i doubt all of this is a coincidence. he probably picked up the ideas sm was aiming for and tried to mirror them in his own company. idk there's no big takeaway here i just think it's really interesting that you can see the influence of sm and it's goals on early pledis groups and their goals
