mmmm musical cultivator shen yuan again. Feng Xuanlu, the Wind Song. He has this well-loved wooden pipe he inherited from is adoptive father that he uses on occasion. When the traveling day gets slow and he doesn't feel like singing, when he's stressed, when night falls and he's sitting around a fire with his troupe and they've all had a little bit to drink.

His hair is long and black, always tied up into a ponytail or a braid of some sort. When he's in camp he loosens it up until its splayed messily over his shoulder. He has crows feet around his eyes that scrunch up when he smiles. His eyes are bamboo green and his hands are rough and callused from years of plucking strings and work. He has scars on his back that he won't explain the origins of.

His voice is low and warm like a fire, it gets raspy in the mornings or when he's been humming or singing for too long. He speaks like there's sunshine dripping off his tongue. He speaks soft, he speaks and his voice takes up the entire room. He's spent over a decade hearing his praises getting sung and he still gets shy over it sometimes.

Whenever he goes into town he has to have at least three other musicians with him at all times -- not his decision of course, but the unanimous choice of his companions. Shen Yuan gathers admirers everywhere he goes, and his companions have long since learned that their dear friend and leader is completely unaware of it. So they have to beat off these suitors with sticks.

i need to get this off my chest. this is a personal vent post so please don't jump down my throat, but a thing that makes me feel some kind of ways is just how much bg3 is being viewed now through rose-tinted glasses in order to dunk on veilguard. i've seen this happening on most platforms tbh.

and sometimes i remember for a brief moment what larian did before the release (much of this in the last few weeks before release no less) and after the release of the game:

-lied abt the your race having consequences throughout the story (saying that drow being feared in act 1 and persecuted in act 3 and it then... just not happening at all. drow walking around on the surface is just fine now ig. again it still boggles my mind how drow are allowed to roam around in baldur's gate without consequences considering that they are known to be responsible for kidnapping duke ravengard but i won't get on that soapbox again.)

-lied abt the upper city being available in act 3

-lied abt romance progression & how romances would play out in general prior to release (pfh + release trailers and promo)

-game-breaking bugs

-romance-breaking bugs for months (gale and wyll)

-one companion who has a third to half more content than any of the other companions and who was heavily favoured and focused on during development to the detriment of others (with the narrative design lead even admitting to this)

-was missing an actual ending that they only added months after release

-was missing the evil path that they actually promised prior to release

-offers quite little in the way consequences even now (not giving karlach upgrades for example has zero bearing on her and she still survives to make her sacrifice on the pier, ethel coming back no matter what you did, downgrading gale's need for actual artefacts of power bc ppl can't part with their loot even for narrative reasons, etc.)

-lore-breaks + poor research on established lore (the whole timeline with mystra, minthara using an eilistraeen endearment, etc)

-massacring returning characters like viconia and sarevok

-constantly changing dialogue around / scrapping old ones / adding new ones depending on fan demand

i could go on, but it's... a lot already.

i obviously love the game despite its many flaws and it's done some other things wonderfully - just like veilguard. the unique body language of the companions, the animation and creativity, the voice acting, the music, act 1 overall and parts of act 2, etc. it's one of my most played games and one of my most beloveds (mostly bc of gale, my ocs and friends' oc).

all these game have flaws. the one difference i see is that bg3 has been given the benefit of the doubt and overall an abundance of good will (generally speaking) and veilguard hasn't been.

I’ve been completely hyperfixated on Jesus Christ Superstar for the past few days [I think I’ve looped the album like . 7 times by now ??] BUT !! still got my CJ fixation going on in the background too so here’s the product of that lol.

Chonny Superstar is his name for now because honestly I��m not great at naming characters and have no other great ideas 😭 if anybody has suggestions feel free to put them in the comments :3

- Hair is messy and greasy. Probably hasn’t been washed in months lol.

- Partially based on Tim Minchin’s Judas from the 2012 UK Arena tour [both in design and personality]

- I hate this guy so much /aff

- Very independent/sticking to his personal mission [whatever that is in the moment] but overall well intentioned and a good person in the end. He wants the best and is sometimes just shitty about it 👍 somewhat social, but mostly when he has a purpose (which could just be that he hasn’t talked to anyone in a while or wants to make some he knows happy !! Just doesn’t really like . Hang around people). also a cunt. Very important

- Doesn’t actually play a particular role in JCS, nor do I have a solid story for him at the moment. I’ve got this loose idea that he just kind of lives in an endlessly looping production of JCS which has gone on for so long that the people involved switch and meld roles with each loop or smth ?? But I might change this later we’ll see …

- Some thought was put into the order, but there really isn’t that much rhyme or reason to the tracklist apart from “I like it” and “it fits his vibe”. That said I want to make it known that “Hosanna” and “Gethsemane” would both be the 2000 movie lyrics and not the original concept album - as much as I love the originals “hey JC, JC, won’t you DIE for me?” and “thy will is hard, but you hold every card” hit hard imo [and fit Chonny Superstar better]

- Would probably never meet the other canon jashlings but would totally either get along very well or have massive beef with Ego [bc Tim Minchin and all that]. He’d get on fairly well with Devil [they share the “fuck you all” and “society is messed up” energies]. Jouse/Mori would probably freak him out but I could see him chilling with CJPH.

- lives/is from the sorta vague anachronistic time period most productions of JCS take place in. No phones for him.

- Has never heard a song apart from the ones in JCS and would probably be really freaked out by anything else lol

- Has probably died multiple times and will die many more 👍

Design-related notes:

- Scarf patterns can be inconsistent and aren’t required. Based on the thing Minchin wears in his performance 👍

- He can and does take the scarf off, just not during musical numbers since it’s a little awkward to deal with on stage lol

- Heavy eyeliner + some eyeshadow

- Crop top and netted shirt are from the Laplaces’s Angel video

- Jacket and jeans are based on the ones CJ wears as “Green” in TFFTT.

- Temperature-confused apparel. What are you wearing a crop top and netted shirt with a massive coat for?? Are you cold or not boy tell me???? /silly

- clothes are worn but not super dirty apart from mild food/drink stains. The result of living on a stage in a time loop 👍

how much time do you have? and how much do you want to read? bc i deeply hate everything about totk (for many many reasons that cant just be dismissed as just 'not my taste' or similar, i dont hate many things, very few in fact, but this game deeply and personally hurt me and my passion- it essentially killed my hyperfixation in zelda)-

what i like would be much shorter; i like the sound the parasail makes when you use it in the rain, most music, you can have more horses, the underground is .. a neat idea (but badly executed), you can FINALLY touch the dragons (and in exchange they ruined them for me ...) and uhm ... master koga is there :3

(graphics and style is basically botws so that doesnt count though i still love that and .. the designs... mostly)

the short version; the writing sucks, the gameplay sucks, except for koga theres no character that is well written or enjoyable to me, the world design sucks, theres no connective tissue between botw (which isnt flawless by any means but i love it ..... or used to love it ..) and totk beyond it being called a sequel, pretty much every single one of botws flaws was doubled down on and i cannot believe how few people actually seem to realize this?? if you cared about anything botw and like thinking about things totk will stomp you with its hefty price tag bc it makes it clear it does not care and you are stupid for caring about anything, you should stop thinking and jsut take whatever they say no matter how little sense anything makes, every even mildly interesting idea is either never followed up on/expanded or is even actively contradicted in itself (which is soemthign this game is excellent at, constantly contradicting itself in every aspect but like .. like its unaware of it) it tries to do everything and thus commits to nothing, tries to please everyone and thus comes out saying nothing and meaning nothing and doing nothing, it loooooves to copy botw but gives it a different paintjob and makes it worse but presents it as better instead of actually adressing the issues botw had, ganondorf .... oh my dear ganondorf, you deserve to be in a better game *sniffs*, i have never before felt like im being made fun of by the game im playing, but now i have-

even the short version gets long (and i didnt even go into detail or into the reasoning q-q) but boi i have so many issues with this game its kinda fascinating, i have talked about alot of it but given tumblrs search likely still sucks it might be hard to impossible to find all those older rants njskfsdbjk

(if you dont care about ... text, or stories and just play it after work for mindless fun in short bursts it might not seem bad at all but once you start thinking it quickly and utterly crumbles, you might say i care to much and well, yeah, thats how hyperfixations work and i dont choose what to focus on either lol)

for a long while i used to try and sound the most tame and nice about it all but at some point of constantly being argued with (often aggressively) back when twitter used to be usable i started to not give a fuck anymore so if this may sound harsh, i have long gotten tired of all that so now im trying to literally just speak my mind with very little "what if i sound mean qoq" filter

ok i have avoided talking abt my datv thoughts but now ive finished and slept on it here it is. this is huge btw and really just a way to process my thoughts for my own peace of mind. and get out what i need to say. so yeah word salad below

2 disclaimers before i start. firstly i think im going to be SUPER blunt and clear about my thoughts on this post but then i will mostly be putting the matter to bed in my heart bc i am not someone who delights in being a hater nor do i take comfort in it. i will take from this the things i enjoyed and keep my distance from the rest. second disclaimer: ultimately i think i will still enjoy being a part of the fandom and seeing other people enjoy the game, because it will endear it to me and maybe take away the pain im feeling right now, so this isnt a long rant to make you feel bad about enjoying the game if you do like it! in fact quite the opposite. it comforts me that there are people who find value in the game and i hope in watching you play it i may be able to eventually be able to say the same

that being said . obviously i didnt like the game

which is an extremely difficult thing for me to say. i went into this game thinking "i will at the VERY least enjoy the game. not love it but at least like it. but im sure ill love it". it really is quite distressing for me that it didnt even really reach that bar for the most part. i TRIED to like it. i begged this game to give me ANY handhold at all that i could cling to, to forgive and like this game. i think the things i liked err more on the technical side. the graphics i loved, the character DESIGN was *fantastic*. the art. the pacing. the vague vision of what they were obviously nebulously aiming for. and honestly, i mostly enjoyed the main plot although i wish it had been more disciplined and constrained with the lore it was trying to expand on. act 3 was fantastic and naturally i am happy and fulfilled for the most part by the conclusion of solas's story, who i still believe was and is the best written "villain" of dragon age. sorry logang and meredith nation but i do still stand by this.

but thats really about it. as a disclaimer i am not an origins puritan or a da2 diehard or anything like that. i have loved (almost equally) EVERY single iteration of dragon age which has been released. i am one of the few people who sees equal value in inquisition and origins. i love them both so deeply. i couldnt pick between them.

for me what i love the MOST about dragon age - and which every single previous game has always nailed despite other flaws - is the characters. right under that is the world's capacity for introspection. and unfortunately nothing in this game provided that for me

regarding the characters: i do not care about a single one of them unfortunately. or at least i do not CARE about them the way that i have CARED about the other previous games companions. companions i would write banter about !!! just for fun when i was bored!!!! i would say my only exception is harding, but even then i care about her only because i care about her due to inquisition. overall i just found them all so ..... shallow. and devoid of any of the conflict or nuance or ethical quandries that make biowares stories so compelling - and sure, usually controversial! i would give ANYTHING for this game to have been controversial. for a unforgivable RO, or a problematic fave, or a cancelled wife. did bioware forget that their most beloved or at least enjoyed characters are people like anders, merrill, mordin solus, blackwall, sten, loghain, SOLAS??? i dont understand HOW they could have forgotten that, because solas is literally right there in game and handled (in my opinion as a fan) well. love him or hate him or dont care about him, he is such a hallmark of great bioware writing (in dai if nothing else) - characters who are not EASY to like. characters who are not SAFE to write and who WILL generate criticism from all sides because they are written boldly and unapologetically, strengthened by a foundation of consistent ideals, clear objectives and beautiful faults. characters that do not NEED you to like them, but instead invite you to engage with them critically. solas, even to someone who hates him, is nuanced and morally complex enough to muse and fight over for 10 whole years. hes IN this game, just as ethically murky as ever, but the morally grey hallmark of biowares writing really does kind of live and die with him alone. the rest of the companions feel like they barely made it out of their concept phase. what are lucanis's flaws??? genuinely asking. other than being a murderer who exists in an organization which buys and trains literal child slaves of course, but i'll get to that in a sec (because bioware sure as fuck didnt). um, i guess you could say hes broody?? and emmrich too. what actual flaws does he have?? he has a fear of death, as we're TOLD, but it does not really reflect in the overall convesations we have with him over the course of the game. mostly hes just.... a little bumbling i guess. bellara's flaw is being a scatterbrain. harding's is that shes..... angry??? but shes not???? fucking come on. i really felt the lack of actually being able to TALK to these people at the end of act 2, when i realized i still felt like i havent really MET any of them. and yet here rook is talking about found family and being a team. ok

and then there are the romances. which from my perspective - having romanced taash - and my friends who have romanced lucanis, neve and davrin..... WHAT romances. davrin's full romance is 20 minutes in a 30 PLUS HOUR GAME. solas had the least amount of content out of any companion in inquisition and was a last minute unintentional RO and still had like easily 50 minutes of content. so why did these romances feel like nothing. actually nothing. i was so excited for taash, but their romance straight up felt like neither rook nor taash even wanted to be there. i forgot they were technically together at certain points. zero chemistry. zero intimacy. all TELLING zero SHOWING. if you had told me that i would be saying these sorts of things about a writer like trick weekes a month ago i would call you fucking crazy to your face. i cannot reconcile that taash was written by the same person who wrote solas. i cannot reconcile that mary kirby - who wrote the fucking chant of light - wrote lucanis. its so dire. its devastating actually.

lastly i want to talk about my other point - bioware's famed emphasis on introspection and ethically quandries. again, i'm genuinely experiencing a sense of profound whiplash because when it comes solas's character you can still see it. its still there. they actually doubled down on making him worse than he was in trespasser which i LOVED and thought was so incredibly promising. they could have caved to solavellan fans and uwu-ified him but they didnt. thats great.

but where was that energy for literally anything else. everything has been defanged - even minrathous, the capital of the tevinter slave trade, does not even ADDRESS the elephant in the room of slavery. and i know because i played a shadow dragon. so tell me why i as a shadow dragon am happily allied with the crows, who solely exist to assassinate politicians and BUY SLAVES. THEY BUY SLAVES. THEY BUY SLAVES AS CHILDREN AND TRAIN/TORTURE THEM TO MURDER. HELLO??????????? there is no commentary made about the mages/templars. there is no discussion of the treatment of the elves in the north or Anywhere. there is no discussion of why exactly blood magic is or isnt acceptable - they simply tell us its bad. all the theories of the last 10 years were answered with handwaved comments or bare bones codex entries that honestly stripped so much nuance away from so many things (the blight, my BELOVED) that i dont know how im going to go about fixing it or making it right in my head. the introspective nature of dragon age always went hand in hand with player choice, but there really WAS no choice in this game as so there IS no real capacity for other interpretations or schools of thought. it is so..........................bleak.

i think the thing that finally made it click in my head that this game had fundamentally let me down was the gloom howler quest. and i know im not alone on this. for those of you who dont know - the gloom howler, "isseya" was the protagonist of the dragon age novel "the last flight". i would HIGHLY recommend you read it, especially if you're an origins fan. super bleak, super political, not flashy at all in terms of magic. it was set 500 years pre origins, during the 3rd blight. isseya is very similar to characters like loghain and solas in a way - a richly complex, beautifully intricate, terribly thought provoking character who did HORRIFIC things for the most NOBLE reason you could imagine, under the most traumatic of circumstances. im tearing up just thinking about her story, and how the title "the LAST flight" foreshadowed that her story had a definitive, bittersweet, finite and peaceful ending.

and then this game did THAT to her. turned her into a grotesque caricature of what she was. stripping her of her nuance and her capacity for atonement or forgiveness. and once again, i do not fucking get it. she was obviously brought back because she is a parallel to the solas dilemma. so WHY is she not afforded the same opportunity for empathy that he is. why is bellara's brother not either. its insane. its literally insane. i cannot begin to imagine the oversight or laziness or WHATEVER IT WAS that occured to have this game turn out this way.

there are innumerable other problems with the game that im not going to get into because what ive said above is the main crux of my problem. introspective and character. those are all i really wanted from this game, and like..... i thought we would get that. because the game centered around solas. and i know people dislike his fans for very fair reasons, but i hope those who know me know that i enjoy him not because hes hot (he is though) but because he is terrible. i love him because they made a character who was TERRIBLE, and then gave you the task of using your head and refelcting on your own morality and values and deciding and arguing and meditating over whether he is worth loving anyway. to me, solas is the person i point to when i want to describe why i love dragon age. its complicated, its nuanced, it is terrible and wonderful and everything in between depending on the angle you look at it from. and so having the writer of a character like THAT in charge of the whole game filled me with hope and dissuaded so many of my fears for this game. but i was wrong apparently.

so now im left with a feeling akin to survivors guilt. genuinely. because at the VERY least, despite me saying all of these negative things, i at least finished the game crying happy tears and being overjoyed that my favourite character was handled well and got an ending i enjoyed. and yet that happiness *i* got to feel and that glimmer of good writing was paid for at the expense of literally everything else. i feel almost personally responsible in a way, which sucks. im sorry to all the people who did not enjoy or care about solas, im sorry that you really did get nothing out of this game. i hope we can all be comforted by the trilogy we have and will always have, and i hope we can all take what good parts we enjoyed out of veilguard and make peace with the rest

Normally I'm most obsessed with my own Durge (her name is Maev 😊) but you got me hooked and I would love to know more of them! Are they shape shifters/trans/androgynous? they originally started as a tav w/ the name lux, short for the tiefling virtue name luxury, then i restarted w/ them as a durge and the name nox bc it was like the opposite of lux (night vs light). they've evolved pretty far from the original lux character in terms of backstory, motivations and priorities, though personality-wise they're still pretty similar. i'm still considering whether i want to preserve/develop lux as a separate tav 🤔

they like to change up their gender presentation but tragically (in their opinion) are unable to physically change shape (major point of sibling rivalry with orin). i guess the best term for them might be genderfluid, or polygender? they're fine w/ any pronouns and gendered words but tend to most enjoy androgyny and ambiguity

and yes you get it..! that's a good analogy, not exactly innocent but amoral in the literal meaning of the word, like outside of mortal morality. cause they're not mortal ultimately and even by the end of the game struggle to see anything wrong with their enjoyment of violence and killing

they think about things less in terms of right and wrong and more in terms of what they care about and how they're affected (though they do throughout the course of the game begin to redevelop their very beaten down and atrophied sense of sympathy). luckily for everyone involved they want to be Loved and can compromise by mostly only enjoying socially acceptable violence and killing lol

(sidenote, it kinda sucks being willingly spoiled on a media youre not into. and then you decide to get into it, and you recognise these things you know play a part in the story. totally my fault lol)

chiba has the biggest 'probably have gone through the Horrors' energy to me just cause like. child star. she really intrigues me personality wise though. (oh maybe she is 17 ?? theres a lot of mystery here already which i like - she has a doctor too) fun!

ooh i was looking at designs and i liked kamimura too a lot. (side note is the interviewer straight up The Mastermind that would be neat i think) I like his voice a lot btw!! i like the energy

hayashi is so cool omg thats it . genuinely its nice to someone actually this defiant like Yeah fuck em up

oh wada is the guy whos i guess a fan of isono! probably too much of a fan! wonder about their interactions for sure... hes actually really cute. also this interviews getting deep.

oh yeah okazaki had a cool asf design. ive. heard like One spoilery comment about her but its okay no i didnt. i really likw the intonation of 'im an open book'. (also i like how most of this cast have "no phobias" which i guess could be true?? but yeah no im not spilling that either) i like her vibes a lot rn though :D

i really like the vocal perforamance in hiroakis one btw. oh wait dude people ship hirojima. thats The ship in this fandom right. i love his energy btw. he dgaf (until the character development hits) also i assume youre not meant to see that little strip of glasses shading as eyes but i totally do and it makes him 100x goofier i love it

Tamba is the character I put as my favourite pre-reaction so i remember her [Student X]. loving the contrast of attitudes between them(understandably) and i do actually like her a lot here!!!! tamba nation!!!!

theres a few shyboys in this cast and i think at least one of them has to be evil or generally has a personality change or something. right? But right now theyre all cuties <3 including hasagawa

firedancer is a cool talent. lotta cool talents in this one actually. she also has fangs yippee!! watari having an unconventional talent seems to be bringing her a lot of stress though, makes sense. love the vibes

it goes without saying but kylar from degrees of lewdity is my ultimate fave dkgkgkh he checks almost every box for me. i just need him to get crazier and he'll be perfect <333

i also really enjoy ren from 14dwy but he's not as good as kylar in my heart.... he's a Super close second though <3 and on a much lesser scale, sol from tkatb (although i'm not a huge fan of tkatb itself just because the writing isn't really my favorite </3 but i like sol's character design a lot LOL) i also liked adi from online obsession!

unfortunately i'm pretty picky and not a ton of game yandere characters have stolen my heart (trying to change that rn by playing more but i'm really fixated on reading yandere manga and manhwa at the moment lol) but next on my to-play list is binary star hero since i've heard a lot of good things about it. there are dozens of games i've played these past few months that had yandere mls in them but i'm either blanking on them or they just weren't very interesting or fun to me..

1) Oumota: it was literally made in a factory for me, they have everything i want in a ship

Rivals to lovers, narrative foils, an extremely doomed dinamic that could be different if they weren't in such a dire situation, height and size difference and above everything they have such an immense chemistry, muah perfect

2)Saimaki, i started shipping them as a joke but i started to love them so much! I love the kind of bond they must have after losing Kaito and surving the killing game, very codependent i think

But besides that, i wish they played their talents more in canon, because i find the detective x assasin concept to have so much potential (especially considering both of them arent the biggest fans of their talents iirc lol) theres an au i have which plays on that.

3) Kaemugi, doomed toxic Yuri, I love to play on the idea for Kaede having a sorta crush on Tsumugi just for her to turn around and betray her THAT badly, framing her for Rantaro's death

I love the forgiveness but even the necessary resentment (in vr!au), i also love to explore both of them being guilty for what happened to Rantaro (Kaede still planned it) and feels like you could do something very interesting with them in protag!Kaede au!

4)Kiirumi; not my favorite by any means, I find their canon interactions cute

And i like to think about pregame!Kiibo knowing Pregame!Miu and pontentially be her only friend (this is self indulgent, ik) plus inventor x robot slaps.

5)Komaegi, obligatory i haven't finished sdr2 nor watched dr3 so this is mostly self indulgent fun and idk why this dinamic compels me so much

I love how Nagito is designed to be a deconstruction of how out beloved protagonist, i love how they technically started the same (lucky students) but took such different paths, i think you can do a lot with them! Especially considering Nagito obsession with hope...

6) Naegamigiri, favorite poly ship ever, i think they all have such chemistry with each other is insane (yes, even togami/kirigiri but i ship them in a queerplatonic way) they are the married throuple¿ ever and im just so attached to them

7)chimondo, oh boy lots to say about this one but honestly theres a lot of very specific headcanons that i'm kinda afraid to delve into, so i all i will say is that they are cute and it personally breaks my heart how they were (seemingly) friends before the killing game 🫡 i usually ship them together with Taka but i admit I got lazy finding the ship name.

8)komahinanami, differently from the other antag/protag/support ship, this is more that ship both Hinanami and Komahina and I dont want to pick and choose, i love komanami explicitly only as friends

And especially in my au (which is my vr!au but im trying to also fit all the lore from the other games together, its a lot but i hope one day i find the confidence to talk about it), thinking about those three interacting together with all that happened just </3 makes me both happy and extremely sad, gotta finish the game and watch the anime so im sure its gonna hurt a lot

9) Sakuraoi, this is one of these ships that stuck with me a lot, I find them genuinely one of the best written relationships of Thh and chapter 4 as a whole is never gonna not gonna make me tear up

I also, love personally to have a character like Aoi which is usually very good and friendly have such a big emotional reaction that shes open to the idea of killing everyone and herself for the sake of Sakura, i love how DR never hesitates to make their character have big emotional responses that are sometimes extremely harmful like this one. I like an Aoi that has a type of grief that gets so revengeful shes willing to go lengths she'd never would otherwise.

10) Kaemaki, I admit this is for aesthetical purpose and bc Kaede personality wise reminds me of my oc that i ship with Maki

Okay so game red

Red from pokemon games red and blue. Also games gold and silver and crystal. He is 10 in red/blue, and about 13-14 in gold/silver/crystal. Indigo league champion. One of, if not the strongest trainer in his time. He is mute, and doesn't speak, only says "..." (real bro, me too) i really like this version of Red.

This is Red in his reappearance in Firered and Leafgreen. This red is sorta different than the previous red, though they are both from the games. Since this ver if red is strictly the player character (you) he can technically be characterized however. His design is supposed to look more mature than the prev Red, which i think they do a good job of.

This is red from smash bros ultimate. NOT to be confused with Red from firered and leafgreen. This one is weird, im not a big fan of this version. He is called Pokemon trainer in these games and his voice irks me. I Dont like playing as him in smash. He doesn't have a pikachu.

Now we have Red from pokemon masters (the mobile app) this is a sort of version of his Firered/Leafgreen version. Except he is characterized, and not the player character. He doesn't talk much from my knowledge, mostly mute. But i do know he says this classic line; "... ... ... ... words are unnecessary!" Ahhh, a classic, i reference that line all the time. This Red version also has a different outfit, his sygna suit (thats the pic above!). This outfit is infamous because of the edgy flame pants. He also has other outfits in the game, they look pretty neat, look em up bc i have image limit. (Note, i have not played this game, soo i might be missing stuff, im not too sure.)

Now this is one of my favorites!! This is Red in pokemon sun/moon. He is the boss battle of the alolan battle tree, along with Blue! He is visiting alola for the reason that he and blue were invited to be boss of the battle tree. However, people headcanon he is on his honeymoon with Blue in alola, too. And honestly fuck yeah why not.

This is Red in his minor appearance in lets go pikachu and eevee. He is not the player in this game, but rather hes a sort of post game boss fight. I personally like this version, i think it looks visually appealing, but other than that i dont much care for this red. Hes around 10ish in these games.

THIS is Red from pokemon origins. I never watched origins anime belive it or not. I personally dont like this red. He takes the red out of red. My sister has watched origins and she really likes it tho, so ill leave him alone...

This is a sort of version of red in a niche manga. I dont like this red at all. He is downright weird.

now THIS is the BEST Red. Red from pokemon special/adventures manga!! I am not biased, this Red is the best one, also my favorite. He is so perfect. I could write several essays about this dork and still wanna write more. His design is more based on the OG red from red/blue games. Except hes cute. Adorable, even. Everyone agrees this one is the cutest. He is a little...overlooked. sometimes people mingle this reds character with OG reds character, when they are so totally different. He has his own personality and plot that is way different from how game Red is. I love everything about this Red. (Sometimes when im bored i recite and analyze all the different ways hes drawn and his change of outfits and character development/growth in each manga. Its fun.)

Eiji: most lab energy of any character EVER. he's so loyal and wants to be everyone's friend!! i made him a chocolate lab mostly bc of his color palette and costume design in the show lolol <3

Ankh: small and angry. chihuahua. but fr i was debating on whether to make him a chihuahua and then i found a picture of a golden/cream colored long-haired chihuahua and went "ok yeah that's Ankh"

Hina: i used to work with dogs and Bernies are the absolute sweetest but theyre INSANELY strong!! and they forget sometimes!! very Hina :') also theyre both very elegant looking while also being super cute!!

Gotou: i don't know if i have to explain this one. i mean look at him, then look at an italian greyhound. it makes sense.

Date: Kangals are famously both very fierce and very gentle, much like him <3 I also think they have the just-scruffy-enough vibe Date has. @plushie-sentai suggested this one!!

Chiyoko: i'll admit i didn't have too too much justification for her being a cocker spaniel. yknow the joke about people adopting dogs who kind of look like them? it's like that

Kougami: he IS the drama.

Satonaka: standard poodles look very prissy and bratty on the surface, but are super strong, capable, and intelligent! Sounds like Satonaka <3

Doctor Maki: similar story as with Chiyoko tbh. I suppose there's something to be said about both Maki and bloodhounds having determination though!

Mezool: I wanted her to be a more famously water-loving breed, but none of the well-known ones looked like her. but then i saw setters are sometimes used for hunting waterfowl and the blue belton coat pattern was PERFECT!! also hunting birds. well. all the greeeds do that but yknow /shrug

Uva: one thing i learned from working with dogs is that german shepherds Look scary but theyre big anxious losers. Uva is like this too.

Kazari: i wanted to make him a fluffier dog breed but Basenjis are well-known for being a lot like cats, and the tricolor ones just felt like Kazari to me! sly lil fuckers <3

Well, I am rewatching all of it rn for the first time in almost 10 years (I CAN'T BELIEVE IT IS BACK ON AFTER TEN YEARS AHHHHH) so I have forgotten a lot of details. Mostly I just forgot how fucking good of a show it is though. I didn't realize how much I missed Matt and Karen and Foggy and Claire etc etc etc 😭

I just finished rewatching 3.01. From memory, I think season 2 is probably my favorite, but I gotta give season 3 another go. I am so fond of all of them, but Matt probably is my favorite. His ability to beat the fuck out of 20 people at a time and then turn up in his next scene looking like a sad wet injured cat enchants me. He's so stupid and smart and he's such a stubborn idiot with a stupid soft heart smh. Also can we talk about how his blindness gives the common trope of "the superhero living as two separate people" a unique tension that isn't seen with any other superhero? Ig his experience is most similar to like Clark Kent, in the sense that Clark is the disguise while Superman is his true unapologetic self, able to reveal all his extraordinary capabilities. But it's more complicated than that for Matt. Existing with a secret identity as Matt is inherently limiting for him socially in a way Clark doesn't experience, because Clark is just another able-bodied person on the street when he isn't Superman, and Matt is a blind person on the street when he isn't Daredevil. I mean, Matt's a blind person all of the time and there are limitations with that even with his special senses bc the world is not designed with his blindness in mind. So like. He labels his clothes in braille and he shoots the 8-ball into the corner pocket too early and he needs accessibility features to be working in order to interact with screens and he's like "yeah wow Melvin the armor looks great" while just pretending to look at it.

But Matt can also do so many things that no one else can and he KNOWS that but he can't TELL anyone in his daily life? He has such a rich sense of the world that no one else does, but has to "play up" his blindness when he's Matt to keep Daredevil and Matt separate. He has to pretend he doesn't know one of his friends is walking right past him and hope they take notice, pretend he needs his cane, pretend to miss visual social cues like a nod or an offered handshake, pretend to need help with some things he doesn't actually need help with... pretend pretend pretend—and remember to pretend so he can never actually relax around anybody!!! And that's exhausting and isolating in a very unique way, and it likely makes the need to be Daredevil that much stronger, because when else does he just get to be unapologetically himself without anyone questioning what he's capable of? AND YET. Even after he has friends who know that he is Daredevil and know he has powers and that he can do all kinds of things that other people can't, they desperately want him to go back to being... just Matt Murdock, who is ultimately a disguise. I think his friends really have trouble grasping that when they say "You shouldn't be Daredevil because it's dangerous and I am scared for you", what they are also saying (without realizing it) is "You should pretend at all times for the rest of your life to have a less rich sense of the world than everybody else instead of a far richer sense of the world than everybody else. You should pretend for the rest of your life that you have more limitations than you actually do. Please perform being less independent for us." So like. No wonder he is so unhinged??? Like. I get it. He gets beat up a lot, and the protectiveness isn't about his blindness, but also it IS about his blindness in a way that no one seems to understand! He is gnawing at the bars of his enclosure wanting to be let out.

This is also why I am intrigued about where the current show is going bc like that man is going nuts ready to forgo a secret identity entirely imo I am just like "DO IT"

- i could honestly see you guys getting closer because you stood up against lucifer. mammon happened to overspend on Lucifer’s credit card and unfortunately for the greedy demon, lucifer found out. in an attempt to avoid any consequences, mammon hid the credit card in your room (without you knowing) and absolutely refused to tell lucifer where Goldie was. the aggravated lucifer decided to do a room check for everyone and ended up finding the credit card in your room. it was clear to lucifer that mammon was the one who put his bank account in the negatives, but lucifer jumped to the conclusion that you helped mammon because of the fact that the credit card was in your room. consequently, lucifer puts the both of you on cleaning duty for the next two months and gives you two a curfew of 9 pm. i could see you standing up for yourself in this situation bc u genuinely had no idea that mammon hid the credit card in your room and i think belphie (and satan) would side with you.

- i could def see belphie trying to recruit you to the anti-lucifer league after that LMAOO and the both of you spending more time with eachother outside of the weekly family movie nights.

- i def think that you guys would be friends for a while before becoming a thing and if you don’t beat him to it, belphie will confess.

- i feel like dating belphie would feel like you’re dating your best friend. hes very physically affectionate but he’s not very vocal about his feelings at all. he won’t be the type to shower you with compliments 24/7 or tell you that he loves you all the time, but he’s the type who shows he cares through his actions or spending quality time with you.

Gumi from Vocaloid! I love most Gumi designs but matryoshka is one of the coolest of all Gumis! Theres no strict personality for the character because Vocaloids are just voices to sing songs, but I always have fun with a Gumi track.

Guzma, the only human pokemon character I picked for this! I have such a soft spot for this extremely tired man, adore him. I really need to watch the sun and moon anime bc I've only played the game.

Harley Quinn from DC Comics! especially with her classic suit and original voice actor.

Howleen from G1 of Monster High, her first look was soooo good but Mattel just dumped it, the biggest tragedy in monster high history.

Big agree with what you said about Johnshi. I've been in fandoms for a fuckton long time and this isn't new but damn does it bother me that in the year 2023 we still have to go through this.

It isn't only how the story goes for both Kenshi and Johnny (they meet at their lowest, go through hell together and come out of it as better people). It's also the banter in the intros (not only between them but also the fact that Kenshi and Johnny talk about each other to the others). And don't get me started with how their designs work : the blindfold is now forever tied to Johnny and the whole red/blue design going on.

But no. We can't have what would be the most organic relationship in the whole MK1 story. Instead we have Syzoth and Ashrah (which, don't take me wrong I LOVE them both) who happen to breath in the same room and possibly bond outside of the mainstory?

EXACTLY 😤😤 I AM SO MAD!!!

Let me rant some more about this.

NRS was the first to introduce the first ever gay character in the fighter style video games. Love them for it, love that Taleena is canon. However, they're still pussayh for not making johnshi canon.

So i have been fangirl for more than a decade and IT IS ALWAYS THE SAME DAMN PROBLEM WITH BIG PRODUCTION COMPANIES they're so afraid of public backlash.

Let me tell you why not making Johnshi canon situation is different from Taleena and Kung Jin by opening big ass can of worms.

1. MK is dominated by cis hetero males. Yes, many people from various bg play the game, but it is undeniably true that the majority of fan base is men.

2. There's a phenomenon called the fetishization of lesbian and bisexual women. I am aware that I'm being controversial by saying this, but this fetishization makes the general public be more "accepting" of lesbain couple than the rest of the queer community, and it resonates mostly in straight men where they see queer women as objects that are simply putting on a show for the enjoyment of those watching.

This leads to my next point that it is a high probability that Taleena is allowed to be canon because the backlash from the cis hetero male fan base will be less than having gay relationship in the game. And let me tell you, Taleena interaction is bare minimum in the story mode!! I mean, yeah, they're trying to hide their relationship from others and the story is not exactly focused on them but they can be so much more! I can gloss over the lack of taleena content but was hoping for more in the future installment. But guess fucking what? Alternate universe Tanya and Mileena are rumored to be married to men in the upcoming mk1 side story.

Like imagine the vast possibility of having alternate universes where you can notch up the teased Forbidden Lovers trope but instead of having Taleena being happily united, NRS makes their only queer relationship straight???? *maniacal laugh* Honestly i will fight NRS on SIGHT. In my eyes, this only proves that they don't really care about queer representation, they're just filling the diversity qouta.

3. With what i said, NRS is a fucking coward for not making their popular male characters gay. You might bring up my boy Kung Jin but listen to me, debuting new queer character and making existing fan favorite character queer are completely different things. Kung Jin is first introduced in MK X and his sexual orientation is subtly suggested in the game. While Johnny Cage has been rated among the top Mortal Kombat characters by various gaming media publications.

If NRS made Johnny gay and in a relationship with Kenshi, imagine how fucking big the media coverage of them would have been. I think Johnshi arc takes almost half of the story mode because we go through Johnny, Raiden, Kenshi, Baraka, Ashrah, Syzoth POVs till they come back from Outworld mission and in every chapter, Johnny and Kenshi get significant moments. And those moments are exclusive to only two of them, specifically tailored to them.

People say they're just friends, but i think the difference really shines if you consider that Kung Lao and Raiden are equally friends with them too. During outworld mission, Kung Lao has minimal dailogues and screen time when Johnny and Kenshi have interaction. If Kenshi and Johnny were just friends, they should have shown Kung Lao's reaction to Kenshi's blinding, Kung Lao's worry for Kenshi in the Shang Tsung's real laboratory, Kung Lao's line for Kenshi's regained sight RIGHT ALONG SIDE WITH JOHNNY.

What Kenshi and Johnny have exclusively belongs to them. That sets the difference between platonic friendship and the connection of those two.

Straight couples have less fucking interaction than one fucking scene and they are magically together. So tell me why the fuck Johnshi is not real
