Okay so basically the United States MINT of all people is going to be working with DC to make a line of coins! These coins sadly won't be in circulation (the things I would do to live in a world where I could get Batman coins from the supermarket) as they're collectors coins, but will be releasing over the course of the next 3 years, 2025-2027.

Designs haven't been released yet (the same is true for all 2025 designs) but we know there will be 9 coins in total (3 each year) with the first year featuring (of course!!!) Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

Although we know the first three heroes to be featured, the remaining six have yet to be decided, and it turns out the Mint is putting out a survey on their site to gauge which of a group of culturally significant heroes people want to see most! (link to the form is mentioned in the article above)

The considered group includes: Supergirl, the Flash, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Captain Marvel, John Stewart GL, Aquaman, Hawkman, Jamie Reyes BB, Robin (Damian?), Cyborg, and Batgirl, of which 6 will be selected.

As someone who does a bit of coin collecting myself (mainly circulation coins like the quarters sets, but I also have a couple proof and collectors coins) I think this is a really cool and interesting idea that showcases the history of the comics medium and these characters and their influence on American culture. Really excited to wait and see what the designs look like for the coins already announced!

It's been like a year since Tales of the Jedi came out but it's still hilarious to me that when returning to early Clone Wars Ahsoka they took one look at the age inappropriate tube top that's impossible to take seriously and said damn did we really put her in this and just retroactively gave her a better outfit and there was just an unspoken agreement with the audience that we would just roll with it and pretend that that was her outfit the whole time.

I'm really intrigued by @where-does-the-heart-lie 's fighting game AU and so I tried to draw their Yamato design for it! Very fun to do because I got to discover all the little hidden hearts I hadn't noticed before, and I got to draw a new iteration of one of my favorite fictional guys.

So Venus is my favorite planet in the solar system - everything about it is just so weird.

It has this extraordinarily dense atmosphere that by all accounts shouldn't exist - Venus is close enough to the sun (and therefore hot enough) that the atmosphere should have literally evaporated away, just like Mercury's. We think Earth manages to keep its atmosphere by virtue of our magnetic field, but Venus doesn't even have that going for it. While Venus is probably volcanically active, it definitely doesn't have an internal magnetic dynamo, so whatever form of volcanism it has going on is very different from ours. And, it spins backwards! For some reason!!

But, for as many mysteries as Venus has, the United States really hasn't spent much time investigating it. The Soviet Union, on the other hand, sent no less than 16 probes to Venus between 1961 and 1984 as part of the Venera program - most of them looked like this!

The Soviet Union had a very different approach to space than the United States. NASA missions are typically extremely risk averse, and the spacecraft we launch are generally very expensive one-offs that have only one chance to succeed or fail.

It's lead to some really amazing science, but to put it into perspective, the Mars Opportunity rover only had to survive on Mars for 90 days for the mission to be declared a complete success. That thing lasted 15 years. I love the Opportunity rover as much as any self-respecting NASA engineer, but how much extra time and money did we spend that we didn't technically "need" to for it to last 60x longer than required?

Anyway, all to say, the Soviet Union took a more incremental approach, where failures were far less devastating. The Venera 9 through 14 probes were designed to land on the surface of Venus, and survive long enough to take a picture with two cameras - not an easy task, but a fairly straightforward goal compared to NASA standards. They had…mixed results.

Venera 9 managed to take a picture with one camera, but the other one's lens cap didn't deploy.

Venera 10 also managed to take a picture with one camera, but again the other lens cap didn't deploy.

Venera 11 took no pictures - neither lens cap deployed this time.

Venera 12 also took no pictures - because again, neither lens cap deployed.

Lotta problems with lens caps.

For Venera 13 and 14, in addition to the cameras they sent a device to sample the Venusian "soil". Upon landing, the arm was supposed to swing down and analyze the surface it touched - it was a simple mechanism that couldn't be re-deployed or adjusted after the first go.

This time, both lens caps FINALLY ejected perfectly, and we were treated to these marvelous, eerie pictures of the Venus landscape:

However, when the Venera 14 soil sampler arm deployed, instead of sampling the Venus surface, it managed to swing down and land perfectly on….an ejected lens cap.

Provide at least one academic article that you can cite. (Full paper + citation available below)

Make explicit community values that have previously been implicit, in order to better examine your own perceptions of the online artist community, and where you sit within it.

Provide rebuttals to common pro-AI talking points, with the intention of shutting down the conversation and reclaiming the narrative. 

What this paper and post cannot do:

Act as a sole authority about the online artist community and its values. We are not a monolith, and it is up to you to think critically about what, exactly, you want to take away from this discussion.

Provide a way to convince AI Evangelists that what they’re doing is wrong and bad and needs to stop. You will never convince them. Again, focus on shutting them down and reclaiming the narrative.

he had a folder on his laptop with several thousand candid photos, all of you, all from times he caught you looking beautiful. he loved taking photos of when you got sucked into your world of books, or when you struggled to bake something edible, or when you yelled at the vacuum for not cleaning the way it was designed to. of the times you ate together, or when you had cherry blossom petals in your hair, or when you’d run off ahead of him on a walk so you could chase birds.

everything you did was beautiful in his eyes, and yukimiya liked to keep those moments forever.

“ken?” you asked one evening when you found him dozing off at the table. his laptop was open and hooked up to his camera. “working again?”

yukimiya peeked an eye open and his face softened. it was golden hour.

rays of honey-colored light streamed past the sheer curtains, painting your face in gold. your irises glowed, lips pinker, and yukimiya had his camera in his hands before he could inhale a breath. he took several, the photos capturing your expression shift from surprise to acceptance to content.

he lowered the lens and looked at you with his own two eyes. you were far enough away to blur around the edges in a way that didn’t show in your digital copy. he didn’t know how long he had until his vision changed completely, but he couldn’t do anything but smile so preciously as you approached.

you stood between his legs, arms draped over his shoulders, fingers curled up toward his nape. yukimiya smiled up at you and hummed. “yeah. working.”

he wanted to capture you like this until his eyes stopped working and his heart stopped beating. he blinked nice and slow, as if taking a snapshot of the moment to keep in his brain.

“one day, maybe you’ll let me show you how i see you,” yukimiya said, his voice barely a whisper. you never liked looking at the photos he took of you, as you felt it’d hinder you from remaining natural whenever he reached for his camera.

I always start the night with the same lie to myself:

So when Juju knocks on my apartment door to pick me up, I answer it like I’m walking a red carpet.

Tight mini dress, flawless makeup, and six-inch stilettos that probably hate me as much as my pinky toes hate them.

I lean against the doorframe with a lazy smile and a slow twirl.

“Well?” I say, hand on my hip. “Say something before I start charging you for the view.”

She whistles low, already smirking. “You’re gonna kill somebody lookin’ like that.”

“Just you,” I tease, stepping out and locking the door behind me. “Where are we going again?”

“This rooftop thing Kai’s throwing,” Juju says, lacing her fingers with mine. “And then we’ll see.”

See. That’s code for “go wherever your pretty little heart wants.”

Because if I’m a princess, Juju is my knight in matte black Jordans and soft hoodies.

She’s quiet but steady, cool in every way I’m dramatic, and completely soft when it comes to me.

Which is why I don’t blink when I see she’s carrying a mini tote bag with her outfit. My eyes narrow, and I point.

“What’s in there?”

“Stuff,” she says casually. But there’s a twitch in her smirk. She knows me too well.

“Stuff like what?”

“Lip balm. Gum. Some lotion. Just stuff.”

“You brought lotion to a party?”

Juju shrugs like she didn’t just confirm she’s more prepared than the FEMA. “Your hands get ashy sometimes.”

I roll my eyes, but my smile is huge. “So I’m your high-maintenance girlfriend, huh?”

“Nah. You’re my princess girlfriend.”

She tugs me gently toward the car. “And princesses deserve full-service care.”

The rooftop is already alive by the time we get there. Fairy lights strung between beams, music pumping, drinks flowing.

Everyone’s dressed to the nines, but I know I’m a standout tonight because heads turn when we walk in—some to admire me, most because Juju looks like she belongs in a GQ spread and people still aren’t used to seeing her so publicly wrapped around me.

We mix, we dance, we laugh with friends. I make Juju pose for pictures even though she says she hates the camera.

But her hand never leaves my waist, and every time I lean in for a selfie, she smiles like she’s memorizing me instead of the lens.

By midnight, I’m floating. A little tipsy, a lot flirty, and still riding high off the compliments I’ve racked up like coins in a video game.

But then it hits.

Not the alcohol.

The ache.

First it’s a whisper behind my toes. Then it grows. An unmistakable throb, like my shoes are slowly strangling my feet.

I shift weight from one leg to the other. I try standing still. I try walking it off. Nothing helps. These heels are gorgeous—silver and sparkly and sky-high—but they are not designed for endurance.

And still, I don’t complain.

Because I’m stubborn. And a princess never breaks character.

Until Juju catches me wincing mid-step.

She gently tightens her arm around my waist. “Baby.”

“What?” I say, overly casual.

“Your face just yelled at me.”

“It did not.”

“It screamed.”

I give her the side-eye but can’t help the small pout forming. “Okay, maybe I’m a little uncomfortable.”

“Mm-hmm.”

I slow down, but the pain gets worse. By the time we’re walking toward the elevator, I’m gripping her arm like it’s a crutch and muttering curses under my breath.

Juju presses the elevator button and turns to me with that knowing look.

“Why don’t you ever bring flats?”

“Because,” I say dramatically, “I have standards. And flats don’t go with the vibe. Do you see this outfit?”

She looks me up and down, slow and appreciative. “Trust me. I see it.”

The elevator dings. We step in. I let out a deep breath once the doors close and finally sag a little, letting my full weight rest against her.

“My feet are staging a revolt,” I mumble.

“I know.”

The way she says it—like she was expecting this—makes me suspicious again. “Wait… what else did you bring in that tote?”

Juju just smiles, steps back, and crouches down right there in the elevator.

She unzips her bag, and with a magician’s flair, pulls out a pair of fuzzy black slides—my slides.

I blink. “Are those—? Juju!”

“I knew you’d need them.”

“You—” I gasp, stepping out of my heels the second the elevator doors open. Juju kneels and gently helps me slip my feet into the slides. It’s instant heaven. I let out a groan so dramatic a stranger down the hallway turns to look.

“I love you,” I sigh.

She rises with a proud little grin. “I know.”

“No, like, I love you. Like marry-you-tomorrow love you.”

“Let’s start with getting you to the car first.”

Walking through the parking garage feels like a different world now that my feet aren’t dying. I cling to Juju’s arm and exaggerate every step like I’ve just returned from war.

“Do you feel that?” I say, tapping my toes on the pavement. “That’s comfort. That’s peace. That’s love.”

Juju snorts. “You’re so dramatic.”

“Says the girl who brought my house shoes to a party because she knew I’d need them.”

“I’d do it again,” she says easily. “Every time.”

I stop walking, right there in the middle of the garage, and pull her to face me.

“I don’t deserve you.”

She cups my face, eyes soft. “No. You deserve all of this. Every last bit.”

My throat tightens. It always surprises me how someone as cool and composed as Juju can look at me like I hung the moon.

“You really think I’m a princess?” I whisper.

She leans down, brushing her lips against mine. “I think you’re my princess.”

“And what does that make you?”

She grins. “Your everything.”

Back at my place, I kick off the slides and collapse onto the couch like I just finished a marathon. Juju tosses me a makeup wipe and starts pulling the bobby pins from my hair with practiced fingers.

“Look at us,” I tease. “Domestic and cute.”

“You always say that like it’s a bad thing.”

“I say that like I want it forever.”

Juju pauses, her hands still tangled in my hair. “Yeah?”

I tilt my head back to look at her upside down. “I’m serious. You can spoil me for the rest of my life if you want.”

“Deal,” she says, so quick it makes my heart skip. “As long as you promise not to pretend you can handle stilettos for more than three hours.”

“I make no such promise.”

“Of course not.”

When I finally peel off my dress and change into an oversized tee, Juju’s already in bed, scrolling her phone. I climb in beside her, tucking myself into her side.

“Thank you for bringing my slides,” I mumble against her shoulder.

“Always,” she murmurs, pressing a kiss to my forehead. “You might forget to pack flats, but I never forget to love you.”

the next two of my evanuris designs: june and sylaise! their outfits are so much more colourful than the twins' it's actually hilarious to me. again additional design notes are below the cut :)

my other designs: dirthamen & falon'din • andruil & ghilan'nain • falon'din ii • geldauran

so, as with the twins, i realised june and sylaise are like two sides of the same coin, and to show that i wanted their overall themes to be similar but to take each of their designs in two different ways. june, having being credited with making eluvians, seems more of the artificer/tinkerer type, and therefore more chaotic and experimental; while sylaise, the architect credited with building elvhenan's cities, is orderly and more of a perfectionist.

first off, june. when i say he's chaotic i mean it like... he seems chaotic to everyone else but to himself he's just doing things in a particular way that works for him. picture someone who wears odd socks everyday just because they pick the first two from the top of the drawer and didn't even notice they're not matching - that's him. are you staring in horror at one of his feet having the toes out while the other is fully armoured? well, he doesn't care and probably hasn't even noticed, sorry. honestly the only reason that his outfit even has some semblance of style is because sylaise wouldn't let him in public otherwise.

anyway, soo for each evanuris i try to think of a trait that'll make them look unique, because even though they're "just" elves, i want them to look special because they are proclaiming themselves to be gods after all. i didn't think june would alter his appearance to simply look cooler, BUT he would make enhancements to help with his work, hence the arcane prosthetic (it was originally supposed to be mechanical when i first drew the busts 2 weeks ago but this idea made more sense tbh). his face was also looking a little bare though, so i gave him the lyrium affected eye (ik his body is made of it, so i figured he wouldn't get poisoning, but it would still affect him physically). the lens he is holding is a lyrium lens that he can put on his other eye to even his vision, and he has another orange-tinted lens for his affected eye.

okay, onto sylaise, who was a little easier to figure out! i always had this image of sylaise in my head of someone who just is so stunning and stylish that she completely steals the show everytime she's in the room (see the "song for sylaise" and her mask codex). she's also an architect - an artist, a designer, who built elvhenan's cities which were gorgeous as hell, so she definitely has high standards - and being a conceptualiser, she doesn't do much practical work so a long gown fit her perfectly. i chose a palette of red/orange/yellow (because fire) which worked nicely with the browns and golds. it's a smoother colour palette that contrasts june's. her gown also uses more rounder shapes and floral motifs, while june's robe has sharper edges and the motifs are instead embroidered on.

also yes i believe in short king june <3. well... actually i wrote him down as 6'3'' which is tall to most of us lmao but to the evanuris he's the shortest. sylaise here is 6'8'', the third tallest of the whole bunch (only elgar'nan and andruil are taller than her) :)
