Weird Horsegirl Ganondorf fun fact of today is that in Ocarina of Time Ganondorf rides without a bridle! Even in the concept art his horse lacks any bit or reigns (as does Epona, and every other horse).
What it mainly means is that the N64 didn't have the power to mess with an unnecessary complex item to render -- but what it could be interpreted to mean for the sake of fandom fun is that the horses are raised and trained to be ridden bridleless.
Not to be up my own headcanons about horses being a big thing in Gerudo Valley and Malon's mom being Gerudo and there being a reason that Gan's horse is specified as a pure black Gerudo Stallion because other Gerudo horses don't look like that but -- have you seen the dressings on the other horses?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of them, even Zelda's horse, have a call to Gerudo patterning. Except for Epona, who was only able to be approached, touched, and ridden by Link and presumably Malon herself.
It's no secret that the Gerudo are more or less pulled from African and Arabic cultures, but fun fact about Arabian horses, they used to be given as prized gifts to royalty and important political figures.
So if they are inspired by Arabian horse history --
Although the specific area of the Arabian Peninsula where the breed originated can’t be pinpointed, it is widely accepted that around 2500 B.C., the Bedouin people were responsible for developing the desert horses that became the ancestors of the Arabian horse. The nomads’ keen horse sense and meticulous attention to proper care and breeding created an animal that could withstand the harsh environment of the desert, surviving extreme heat and cold with little water and the food they shared with their handlers. A life of travel also required horses with great lung capacity, endurance and stamina. (x)
It's very possible that all of the horses in OoT have ancestry in Gerudo Valley!

A cat sits alone in the cemetery
Inspired by @circuscountdowns's bishop death comic.
cw: grief, slow mental deterioration by way of immortality
Mortal minds were not meant to live forever. Not alone.
It’s the middle of the night and they kneel before the grave. In one of their hands they grip a shovel that had been gifted to them a long time ago. At the base of the handle is an engraving that matches the stone crown on the gravestone.
There is a pendant on their chest, and it gleams gold in the moonlight.
They close their eyes, and breathe. Out slow, in slow.
Camellias smell like sugar and dirt, like three thousand years of longing. The flowers on this grave are always fresh. always redder than blood, even in the winter, when every other plant on cult grounds wilts and turns bare and hibernates. The camellias on his grave are always there, always beautiful. One might call them blessed.
They are not afraid of dying—they are devoted to Death. They simply cannot die yet. Their Gods and leaders need them. The rest of the flock needs their wisdom. Someone who can speak to them as an equal, but who knows more and has seen more than the rest.
Mortal minds were not meant to live forever, but they’re still doing pretty well. They lose days or weeks sometimes, but it’s not a problem yet. They suspect it’ll take another five thousand or so before their mind becomes a problem, assuming something else doesn’t kill them first.
So, they cannot leave. Not of their own accord. They have no need to.
They want to stay, to be content with the impossible life they live, but something is missing. They’ve been missing the sandpaper edges of his voice for the last few centuries. They’ve been yearning for the feel of his fur on their own—green and yellow, a sunbeam shining over a bed of moss.
He left them. They agreed to it. He was tired. They understood, or thought they did. They were with him for the rest of his life, and they loved him, and he died, in the end, like a mortal, but his heart was full, and when he was gone for good, they realized that their heart had gone with him. Stolen in a final prank.
At first they figured the pain would lie in the loss itself, but true moments of pain were every time they would forget that he was gone. It was every time they would look beside them, to whisper to him something that he would yell aloud to embarrass them both, only to find no one was there. It was every odd hole in the ground that they would feel the urge to crouch down beside, to talk to him, coax him out, before someone would ask what they were doing and they would remember that he wasn't there. It was every time they remembered that holes in the ground were for plants, and not Gods.
He would be severely annoyed to see them do anything but smile, but it was getting hard to smile without him.
And, and he would want this, wouldn’t he? Even if getting woken back up annoyed him at first.
His After was probably boring without them.
He'd think it was funny.
He’d grin impossibly wide and say, “ABOUT TIME YOU DID SOMETHING SELFISH.”
They stare at the old stone. The crown of the God of Chaos stares back. It's only another life. He won't even have to put on a necklace this time around.
Mortal minds were not meant to live forever. Not alone.
So, they stand and lurch forward. They take the shovel into both their hands, and they drive it like a spear into the dirt, into Leshy's grave.
They don’t know how the ritual works, but they know they’ll need his bones for it. They'll figure the rest out later.

Deercember Day Thirty-One: Sangai | New Beginnings
The sangai (Panolia eldii eldii according to current genetic evidence, though Rucervus eldii eldii according to most scientific literature) is an endemic and endangered subspecies of Eld's deer found only in Manipur, India. It is also the state animal of Manipur. Its common English name is Manipur brow-antlered deer or Manipur Eld's deer, though it is also known as the dancing deer due to a particular behaviour: it is believed that the name sangai (sa "animal" and ngai "in awaiting") was coined from its peculiar posture and behaviour while running; by nature, the deer—particularly the males, even when running for its life—stops occasionally and looks back as if waiting for someone.
Its original natural habitat is the floating marshy grasslands of the Keibul Lamjao National Park, located in the southern parts of Loktak Lake, which is the largest freshwater lake in South Asia. The park covers an area of 40 km² (15.44 mi²) and the home range of the deer in the park is confined to 15 – 20 km² (5.79 - 7.72 mi²). Phumdi is the most important and unique part of the habitat; it is the floating mass of vegetation formed by the accumulation of organic debris and biomass with soil, with thickness varying from few centimeters to two meters. The humus of phumdi is black in colour and very porous and spongy. It floats with 80% of its mass submerged in an annual cycle of rising and falling on Loktak Lake, though this has been disrupted by a hydroelectric dam resulting in the deterioration of the phumdi.
The sangai was believed to be almost extinct by 1950. However, in 1953, six heads of the sangai were found in its natural habitat. Since then, the Manipur state government has taken serious and positive measures toward its protection. The number of sangai listed in the Red Data Book was only 14 in 1975. Despite this, its number has since increased to 204 in 2013, and to 260 in March of 2016. The genetic bottle-necking of this near-extinction event may yet have catastrophic effects on the subspecies, with concerning evidence being found in instances such as albinism despite the small population size.
Culturally, the sangai finds itself embedded deep into the legends and folklore of the Manipuri people. Based on a popular folk legend, the sangai is interpreted as the binding soul between humans and nature. The slaying of the sangai, an unpardonable sin, is conceived as the forceful separation of the harmonious relationship between humans and nature. When humans love and respect the sangai, it is respecting nature. In the sangai, therefore, humans find a way of expressing their love for nature. More information here.

URGENT: Tahseen Starving Children Call for Your Support Amid Crises
Hello Dear
My name is Tahseen Alkhazendar from Gaza City - Tal-Alhawa Area . As you are reading my message, my wife, 3 little children, and I are sitting in the north of Gaza City, starving with no food, water, or money. Every morning, my wife and I feel heart broken and disabled, when our children wake up asking us for food which we don't have and unable to provide to them at this time in Gaza.
Tumblr media
Before October 7th, I was a successful business man who owned a driving school and graduated from the business management school. I worked hard to secure a decent and happy life to my family, and did my best to raise my children with dignity, pride, and respect. However, once the aggression started on Gaza, we were forced to evacuate our house and left everything behind. I struggle every single day to secure 1 single meal for my children. Specially my older son, Ibrahim, who suffers from the Celiac disease and needs a special food which I am unable to find in Gaza at this current time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately everything I owned is completely lost after my house and business got bombed and destroyed. We are currently suffering slow death in Gaza, sharing a small apartment with other families and living a devastating life.
Tumblr media
It would mean so much if you could take a look at my GoFundMe and donate for my family🙏.
By sharing and donating, you are helping me, my wife, and 3 children to survive the ravages of famine and genocide. You will give us hope to rebuild our home, and reclaim some of the life which was stolen from us.
Please donate and share/reblog with others 🙏 🥺🇵🇸.
Please be certain that any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference in our lives 🥺. Thanks in advance for your kindness and support and may God bless you and your family 🙏.🙏.

I met this nice girl through my college friend. She's my friend's childhood best friend and I had heard so much about her so I was really excited to finally meet her. The three of us hung out at a stupid school-sponsored event into the late hours of the night, drinking soda and eating pizza and getting to know each other. At the end of it, she entered into a raffle and ended up winning free tickets to Disneyland. We celebrated and parted ways. It was the highlight of that semester.
A few months later, Israel began dropping bombs on her family home. I watched from afar as her entire life fell apart and her family was displaced and killed. Every time I asked how she was doing, she was doing bad.
In Palestine, as in a lot of places in the world, it is shameful to ask for money. A little bit after the war began, I passed a message along to her family offering to help raise funds for their evacuation, but they declined saying that they didn't want pity from anyone. Now it seems like they're running out of options.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My friend has already lost so much so please spare her the additional indignity of asking for help and not receiving it. I can't imagine how soul crushing it would be to do something you believe to be shameful and for your effort to go to waste.
Their goal is only $5000 and they've already raised ~$820, I don't see why we can't raise the full amount within the next week.
Verified by the fact that this is literally my IRL. DM me if u wanna see her Instagram or other contact info proving she's real. Tumblr is a rather unsafe place for Palestinians so I'd rather not publicize all her personal info but I've been pretty careful with the fundraisers I boost on this blog so I hope you can trust me here.
EDIT 08/24/24:
Thank you all so much for your support. You have no idea what it means to me after so many months of witnessing zionist attacks both online and off, to see so many people come together and commit to helping someone I care about without a single zionist comment. There’s nothing but love here.
My friend reached her goal early this morning and I even saw people encouraging others to keep donating because they realized her family would need more. I am truly moved by this incredible show of compassion from everyone.
As you can imagine, life in Gaza is becoming increasingly more expensive. My friend has raised her goal to $10000 - let’s keep this train going and get her there within a week 🙏

Hello everyone
I will tell you my story about the war in the Gaza Strip, and I hope you will help me get out to safety. Thank you very much.
I am Ali Miqdad, 33 years old, and my wife, Aya Hamdan, 25 years old. I have two children, my beloved, who is 5 years old and Adam, who is 2 years old
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In light of the war on us, we lost everything: home, money, business, and even clothes. I paid everything in the house and business that I had because of the bombing that we witnessed throughout the days. To this day, we have been displaced several times, and the first night was very difficult. In the morning, it was our first displacement and exit from the house, and then we lost. We all lost our beautiful memories and the wonderful things that me and the family used to live on
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We lost our beautiful memories and the wonderful things that my family and I used to live on. The hardest thing we lost was safety and peace due to the violent bombing that surrounded us at every time and moment and in all the places to which we were displaced. Also, the days that we spent in displacement several times were difficult due to the lack of work to obtain. For money, clothes, food, water, and meeting the needs of the family and the needs of the children, especially since we are in tents and there is no healthy food or medicine due to the spread of diseases.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Through the process of repeated displacement, we lost the stable and recreational life that I used to live with my wife, my children, Habiba and Adam, who lost their beautiful childhood, the first days of their childhood, and their toys that they loved and played with all the time. My daughter, Habiba, lost her studies in kindergarten, and my wife, who suffers from fatigue and exhaustion all the time. As a result of displacement from one place to another, and from tent to tent, which completely changed the nature of our lives from a beautiful house to a tent in the middle of the street in which we sleep.
I need your cooperation and help in raising money to leave the Gaza Strip because leaving the Strip is due to the heat🙏🇵🇸
Thank you
Vetted by @gazavetters, my number verified on the list is ( #54 )

god it’s like the month of May is trying to cram bad shit in before its end to see if it can kill me before June. Shitty grades first. Car accident (and now I’m learning he’s trying to sue, despite him having hit me) next. Most painful and miserable ovulation week I’ve ever experienced after that, with VIOLENT stomach flu with a fever so high it had me understanding why people drink at the same time. Then I woke up with both shoulders dislocated. And now this morning I found out I have developed a small allergy to eggs.
And I still have three months of being put thru the fucking meat grinder with guaranteed no more than three hours of sleep a night.

i had a rly cool dream this morning
it had to do w gods (i think it was supposed to be greek gods? idk). i think it was 2 warring factions coming together for like an annual forced get together. a smallish group from one faction would go to the other faction's territory/domain, with alternating hosts each year.
there were a young god & goddess, both from the host faction, who were secretly? in love; the goddess was i think like princess/heir level in importance? & the god was low tier/implied to be beneath her in some way.
the matriarch/leader of their faction was totally against the pairing. most of the other younger gods in their faction, though, didnt care or were friends w the main 2 & wanted it to work out, so they were trying to figure out a way for them to be together. they eventually found like an ancient ritual that would work, if the 2 could figure out its requirements.
the ritual required that the couple be joined/married twice: the first as they currently are & the second, as they were in the past? or i think specifically the goddess/princess was the one who needed to prove her love/prove her worthiness of love in 2 forms. the couple & all their friends were stumped as to how to fulfill it.
most of the visiting faction were kinda just watching all this, unmoved or vaguely amused by the turmoil happening in their rival's group. one wanted to help, though: a constantly shifting young old god, with the face of an old man with scraggly white hair & beard but the body of a young healthy woman. they watched in interest but remained silent.
the host faction decided they could at least get the first part of the ritual done, so the couple was wed (i think this was all happening on the sidelines, out of sight of host faction's matriarch).
the group were all sat at a long table, trying to figure it out, when the same old young god from the other faction spoke up. they remembered/pointed out that the goddess was trans/had not always had a woman's body, & suggested the couple try the ritual with the goddess in a man's form. everyone thought it was a great idea, but the ritual required the second part be done a year later. so they would reconvene at the next annual get together to complete the ritual.
while the group was deciding on the young old god's suggestion, the princess was obviously paying extra attention to them. the longer she watched them, the more she could tell the strange shifting of the god's body was actually a spell. she sifted through the magic & underneath, found a woman's face that matched the body—a human woman's face.
the goddess pointed this out immediately, amazed that a human could be in their realm. now being found out, the woman's disguise vanished & all in the small group could see her humanity. she thought she was done for, that they would kill her or cast her out, but another goddess from from her faction spoke out: the human was an orphan, rejected by her family (for some reason), and the faction's matriarch took her in as her own daughter, though she would always be human (albeit quite long lived). the princess was thrilled by this & immediately accepted the human into her fold (& effectively helped to ease the rivalry between factions, unbeknownst to both matriarchs/leaders).
the next year rolls around, with the princess' faction going to visit the human's god faction. there is much celebration at their arrival amongst the young gods (who the human was closest to, outside the matriarch). the human was treated the same as the gods (i think of the gods even was schmoozing w her?).
eventually, the princess & her partner do the second ritual, with the goddess altering her body to that of a man's, & they are wed again. POOF! it works & now the couple are happily Forever Married legit no take-backs & everyone lives happily ever after (the princess' mother is livid but can do nothing about it).
at one point in the dream, i remember the human watching the princess as she changed her body back (nudity? no problem). i distinctly remember seeing the goddess' boobs reforming & it looking exactly like how an american biscuit rises while baking.
biscuit boobs.
