I understand why alchemists invented, and modern fiction writers use, systems with a few understandable Elements like Earth / Fire / Air / Water / Light / Dark.
I understand why even most nerds don't bother to study the Elements in real life. There's too many of them, and they don't neatly correspond to meaningful aspects of macro-level existence.
But just once I'd like to read a worked magical system where the author has looked up the properties of the real Elements, has put in all the work to build up a system of plausible-sounding correspondences, and the protagonist is a rare dual-element Tellurium-Iodine wizard.

We did this sorta like the old way, I guess [how] we used to work out a lot of songs. There was bits lying around and we had this quite chaotic sorta tune going on where it was slowing down and the riffs and everyone is taking a solo at once or whatever – and they’re all fighting with each other. And then, I kinda just wanted the words on it to subscribe to that chaos as well … That were probably the most fun tune to do, everyone were feeling a bit ropey that day and quite ungoverned … [the] guitar lead is called the 'thunder suckle fuzz canyon’.

guy who’s listened to industrial for 1 month: i like nine inch nails
guy who’s listened to industrial for 1 year: my favorite industrial band is only industrial when in a broad genre statement; they’re a japanese experimental aggrotech/deathrock group from hamamatsu and they only released one album in 2003 before their lead vox/keys unsuccessfully attempted to perform a trepanation on himself and died it’s a crazy story haha. yeah no the only way you can listen to most of their tracks is through compressed cassette rips on YouTube. their guitarist uploaded some of their demos on soundcloud in 09 though!

i vaguely remember you saying in a post that you thought bleach background music was bad and it made me think of this specific track called ‘ceremony commences’ which is obviously supposed to sound ‘sad’ but is just so weird that it completely misses the mark. it was playing over a scene of renji reminiscing on rukia and i almost started laughing
It's true, we are the #1 Bleach bgm haters. XD But it's consistently uplifted as a masterwork and some of the best to ever do it, so I'm glad that many others really like it!
That being said, we really loved the remix/usage of Ichigo's theme when Ichigo and the rest of the gang make their first appearance in TYBW. We were like "this scene slaps and so does the music, which is a feat because I hate this song!" It's not even a nostalgia thing because that's the one and only time I've ever heard that song and felt that it was a welcome addition to my life experience.

the advice to cryofreeze your darlings is good if it's a genuinely smart turn of phrase that's a bit out of place for the work, or a minor character or scene that no longer fits the theme, but sometimes your darling is a super self-indulgent reference that you still think is kind of clever but also makes no fucking sense for what you're doing and it will never, in fact, make fucking sense.
