Unironically loved The Acolyte. Got some genuine questions on why so many Star Wars fans hate it though. As someone who knows a DEEP amount of lore from both the movies and the non canon books, I feel like I’m inclined to speak on this.

Here’s some questions to ask yourself

1. Do you hate the acting and the “plot holes” or do you just hate women and gay people?

2. Does it actually break the Star Wars lore? Or does it just add more to the general universe?

3. Have you ACTUALLY watched the show up to now? Or did you just assume it was going to suck as soon as you saw Disney made new Star Wars content?

Listen, if you hate that Disney keeps throwing away shows for money, I AGREE. I hate that they seem to put 3% of effort into my favorite universe. But some of the discourse I am hearing on this show is getting eerily close to a hate crime.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, and you can tell me a definitive answer on the first three, I’d love a could discussion on this show. Free from preemptive opinions.

Here’s what I liked about this show:

- I liked that they showed someone else created by midichlorians. They insinuated in the prequels that it was how Anakin was born and some people are saying that makes him not special anymore. I disagree with this because palpatine was not the first sith, if you listen to the darth plagueis story, he says “He could even use the force to influence the midichlorians to create life.” They never said he was the only person. They just said “ITS A SITH LEGEND”. Don’t you think a cult of sith lesbians would know the story of darth plagueis the wise? I mean yeah, it makes for some grey area in terms of timeline but we have 300 year old Jedi masters and he’s a sith that gets a clone in the sequels it’s not that impossible.

- I love the idea of twins when it comes to Star Wars. One dark one light.

- The costumes!!! The costumes tell a story. For one, I actually love that they aren’t weathered because this was a time of peace for the Jedi, most Jedi wouldn’t have as much time in the field to weather their clothes, so they’re very bright and colorful.

- The settings were so beautiful, and gave me MAJORRR dark fantasy vibes. Especially the space suit, it was giving a different vibe for Star Wars yet still get very George Lucas to me.

- And of course, I have to talk about the fight scenes. They are so fast it really feels like these people know what they’re doing. You can understand their train of thought in every move. It’s fun to watch.

- The lightsabers. I love seeing more yellow lightsabers and more variety. I love seeing the lightsaber whip, I need more of it tho.

- I loved Jecki and Sol, they were pretty fun and original characters. I like how morally grey Sol is, and jecki is my fave type of character… rip.

Here’s what I didn’t like:

- why did that one chick have a purple lightsaber? I was fine with it at first but now it kinda messes with how I saw purple lightsabers. I know the colors don’t technically have a meaning, or at least a set one. Especially since Samuel Jackson just wanted a purple one. But I always saw it as someone who was morally grey and walked the line between the dark in the light. Someone who has a code, but will kill for their own obligations. Which would actually work for this character… it’s the fact that the color is supposed to be rare. I always thought Mace was the first and one of the only to have a purple lightsaber. I’m not against there being multiple purple lightsabers, I just wish they explained it a bit more. Idk. This one’s just me.

- The acting isn’t necessarily bad… it just isn’t great either? Idk, I got mixed feelings. Because there are some episodes where I think “Amandla’s doing pretty good this episode playing two people.” And then I see another scene and think “Damn… I wish they chose some different actors because this is just clunky.” ESPECIALLY the children. I thought there acting was rough, but I’m pretty lenient when it comes to that because they’re kids and they’ll grow with age. Plus, it’s hard to find twins who look like amandla who can act.

-the dialogue is not great a lot of the time. But I’m a Star Wars fan, so I know for a fact that’s never been just “The Acolyte”’s problem. I think we were spoiled Andor.

- I was kinda nervous about the addition of sith witches, but that’s again, just a personal opinion. It’s not that I’m against just sith witches, I just had to get used to the idea of people other than the Jedi, understanding the force but using it differently. Which, wasn’t just an acolyte problem for me. It was a Dave Filoni adding witches to sci fi problem. It’s just, when I think “witches” I don’t think “Star wars”. Because the force isn’t really magic. But I’ve gotten more used to it the more they developed all the different tribes, and especially after watching rebels and clone wars a while back. I’m actually pretty okay with it now, it just took some getting used to, which the live action only haven’t had to deal with until Ahsoka the series, which was less of a problem because they were focused on Hayden coming back. At least in my opinion that’s how I saw it.

- I didn’t like that jecki used ahsoka moves, despite it being the past, it being the first time they duel blade, and the fact that THEY DIE so they can’t even teach these moves to people who then show ahsoka etc. It leads to my next problem,

- it kinda seemed like they were too focused on references. Like they wanted to prove themselves, like “Hey, this isn’t breaking canon, see, I know a ton about Star Wars lore!” It felt like hand-holding. It was cute the first couple times, but it wasn’t spread out enough.

- Yoda is pretty old, and this show is only 100 years in the past, right? So where is he? In fact, where are most of the Jedi masters. I’m sure a lot of them would be babies, but isn’t Shaak ti like, 240? Huh??? Where is everyone? This is probably why I was so confused in the first episode, thinking it was like, 2000 years in the past.

- and lastly, they run into the problem many prequels run into, which is, not knowing what the past of a futuristic world would look like. It’s hard to come up with, old looking lightsabers when lightsabers are inherently futuristic. Etc.

Other than that, I didn’t actually notice it breaking any canon. It should be obvious to most viewers that it’s going to end with everyone who saw the Sith, dying with his secret. That would fix the “plot hole” that they are apparently making.

Also the number one complaint I’ve been seeing is that they have a black main character, who’s a women and they automatically assume that Disney is being woke. They haven’t done anything remotely woke about this. I’ve also seen people complain that two women had a child.

They’re Sith, wouldn’t that be the OPPOSITE of being woke??? Also this is the future, why do you think that a galaxy of aliens with all kinds of genders would be homophobic? That makes less sense than them moving a birthday around. Also please remember clones exist and Anakin’s mother was a Virgin Mary.

What made you ship it?

Around the time the first Avengers movie came out, I was just dipping my toe into Tumblr and Twitter fandom. I found and started following a ton of RP accounts on Twitter. And since RDJr is my favorite ever since Weird Science, there was a lot of Iron Man fanart on both of my dashboards. Shippy fanart started to slip in -- and while Stony was very prominent, so was FrostIron. My love for Loki had already started to bloom (plus, I was fascinated that IRL British Ginger Dork could, with a little hair dye, become My New Favorite Villain), and seeing him constantly paired with My Favorite New Hero -- and there was A LOT of very cool art --made me go Ooh. Plus, I befriended this awesome Tony RP writer who had an awesome RP thread with a Loki, and that, plus all the fics I started to read, just plunged me, heart eyes first, into SHIPPING IT HARD. I watched the movie 10x in the theatre, started watching all the interviews with RDJr and Hiddles, and eventually, I read a college au (that I loved) and decided I could totally write them even tho I hadn't written anything in a couple years. Thus, Dark Side.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Besides the whole enemies-to-lovers thing? And besides the fact the ship was comprised of two of my favorite actors (at the time)? I mean, their whole dynamic is not so secretly my ideal relationship. The sarcastic barbs lobbied back and forth that rests comfortably atop the sexual tension the ability to keep up with each other is flamed on by. The intelligence that kind of quipping and humor requires -- and let's face it: someone is always hotter when they can stimulate your mind and your body. Add in the bonding that can happen over the shared Terrible Paternal Relationship and The Trauma That Makes Our Humor So Great and how they can heal each other, the debate between science vs. magic, and how they're much more alike than one would think. The fics that explore how discovering how much they have in common and how they learn to see each other in a different light (whether superhero and supervillain or not) are some of my faves and an element I often insert in my own fics. IDK, I just love them.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Not really? Any gripes I have are more with authors' characterizations of them. I don't go telling anybody they can't write them the way they choose, tho. I just nope out of fics that have anything I don't want to read. And then I write my own. :D

What made you ship it?

Similar to FrostIron, I discovered WinterFrost through mostly RP. But probably what made me fall head over heels for this pair was dipping my toe into RP myself. The friend whose Tony Stark I loved mentioned in convos that they wanted to start RPing a Bucky but wanted him paired with a Loki. They asked me if I wanted to try my hand at RP, so I did. This was about 6-7 months before CA:TWS was released, so there wasn't much if any, WinterFrost content yet -- and it was actually still called Lucky at the time. Anyway, Bucky was post-CATFA, and my Loki was post-Avengers (we mutually decided to start there instead of post-The Dark World). They randomly met and organically began to fall in love. The truth is, this ship is special to me bc, as we wrote Bucky and Loki falling in love, we were falling in love. So, it's all kind of woven together with my own love story. Kind of bittersweet now.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

There is a bit of a dark element to WinterFrost that I'm kind of drawn to. The RP was the only place I ever really explored that (kind of) -- although I did have an idea to turn my PWP WinterFrost into a serial killer AU. I eventually abandoned that idea. For a lot of reasons. By dark element, I mean the darkness in both characters potentially being compatible and flourishing. Bucky as the Winter Soldier was almost devoid of emotion (except when he saw Steve, in the movie at least); Loki, in contrast, was highly motivated by his emotions but kind of let himself get battered and embittered by them. At least the way I wrote my Loki. Beyond that, there is a great capability for them to bond over their trauma (again, similar to FrostIron). There is no bigger troll than Bucky (c'mon, he grew up with Steve Rogers, ffs), and Loki would relish in the chaos Bucky would cause with his commentary. I feel like there's a mutual mending they can do for each other. Loki can help Bucky battle his demons -- as a demon slayer himself -- and Bucky can show Loki a love like he's never known.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Nah. Similar to FrostIron, it's down to characterizations. I'll literally read anything about these two.

What made you ship it?

I was already into FrostIron and WinterFrost -- and RPing both. So it was kind of like, "I ship Tony and Loki and Bucky and Loki, why not Tony and Bucky?" I RPd that for a bit, too. I haven't read or written a lot of this ship, so I'm not sure what I like beyond it being two actors I love, two characters I love, and liking that they could both find a little bit of happy with each other. Also, it's interesting to think about the internal crisis Tony would endure for falling in love with the man responsible for his parents' deaths.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

I honestly have no idea. Like I said, I haven't really dug deep into this one yet, like I have FrostIron and WinterFrost. It's definitely one of my smaller ships.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

No, but I wish people would leave WinterIron shippers alone. Way too much hate flung at this ship and the people who write it. It's annoying.

Why don’t you ship it?

Honestly? It's because of Gwyneth Paltrow. I don't like her, as an actress, as a personality, as a hawker of vag candles -- whatever. I never liked her portrayal of Pepper. And don't come for me, y'all, bc believe me, I know how this sounds -- but I thought she looked too old to play Pepper. Yes, she was only 34, and RDJr was 43, and that's an age gap in itself (and coincidentally, Leslie Bibb was 35, which btw she does not look older than GP and...yeah). I think I felt the way they were portraying Tony Stark's womanizing ways it didn't make sense (to me!) that he'd go for someone closer to his age and stick to younger women. (Blame my brother. He's been dating girls my age and younger since high school. His first son's mother is my age. She was 4mo along when we graduated from hs. He dated a slew of girls near or around my age well into his 30s. His second son's mother was 6yrs younger than me. He's gross, I know. I tell him all the time.) Anyway, I love Tony and Pepper's dynamic in the comics (the few I've read), and when I RPd a Pepper (I did not use GP; I used my idea of a perfect Pepper: Jessica Chastain), I was told the way I wrote her was closer to comic!Pepper than MCU!Pepper, which I gathered was a good thing. People often misunderstand that my distaste for Pepper has nothing to do with the character herself. I LOVE the character. I think she's a badass, and I think she's the best working partner Tony could have -- which is why probably why I always writer her as Tony's closest confidant. But I also think they did Pepper a disservice by casting GP.

What would have made you like it?

A different actress, lol.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

Like I said, I love the character of Pepper. She's a great foil to some of Tony's more grandiose ideas and she has a way of handling him without him realizing he's being handled. Maybe I'd ship it if she didn't start out as his secretary? There's something very creepy about a relationship between a boss and a secretary to me. Idk. As Besties, I love Tony and Pepper. Beyond that? No.

How did you get into prongsfoot and when?

Hohoho this is getting interesting. I'm spilling tea and my deepest darkest secret.

Let's start with how I first got into harry potter

My sister is a millennial, and she's older than me a lot, like a lot lot, so when I was just a kid watching lotr and simping over legolas on tv, my sister came home with a newly published hp book and read it for me. I didn't remember much but I did say something along the line mentioned Sirius' name that "his name sounds beautiful"

When I got into secondary school, I had watched all of the hp movies but never touched the books bc my aunt borrowed all the copies, so I begged my mom if I could use my allowance to buy new books and she said yes. I gave the money to my sister and she bought me 2 harry potter box sets, one for reading and one for displaying (the extra one was my birthday gift)

I spent nights trying to absorb those and I fell in love the more I read about Sirius, he's such a cool character, I love him to the point I asked my friends to join my Sirius cult haha. My bestie also liked the Marauders very much and she loved Jily so I started learning about James and Lily too. Even though I don't ship them as hard as Prongsfoot now, I still call them papa James and mama Lily (It's because of our translation makes it sounds super cute to call them like that)

Okay it's getting heated. One of my friends announced that they love wolfstar, and being the artist of the group, I was asked to join and draw for them. My other friend, said that they liked James/Snape (seriously idk what this ship called) and demanded me to join them. At that time, I already felt how much I love James and Sirius and I adore their relationship very much, I feel very weird when they're being separated and I can't stand that (also bc I cried when I know how much they meant to each other in the books). I declined both of them and they were like "WHAT?". The wolftar one said "well can't you see how intimate they are in the movie?", and the James/Snape said "the rivalry between two enemies makes the best trope". But tbh I love Prongsfoot for the way they are, utterly loyal and devoted, their co-dependancy, how they're like two peas in the same pod, like the reflection in the mirror, one that never lies and cherishes the other till their last breath. I love how comfortable and easy they are being with each other. To me, they're full and content.

At first, it was just the feeling that they seem right. Very right. But then it became more and more, like a car racing down the highway, it felt like I fell hard and fast for them so then I started scavanging everywhere for their contents. I read fics, watched fanarts, practicing drawing whenever I had the time so that I could someday be able to contribute something for Prongsfoot, and I did it, it's still not every good imo but for now I'm feeling happy that I'm able to draw them, and write fics about them (they're all in Vietnamese tho)

Well, I think it all thanks to that one fic on fanfiction for turning me to the right path. I was still hesitate over wolfstar bc I didn't want to make my friend sad. But then after reading that devishly exquisite cherry on top fic, my heart and my head snapped straight to Prongsfoot. The way the author described their relationship was like the last nail in the coffin that set me forever laying deep in this Prongsfoot hole. Yahh I was 15 back then, what a time. I'm in my 20s now and that fic still embroided in my mind as clear as the sky (one of the reason it's my fav one is bc it's so morally wrong and fucked up in the head, it's basically dead dove but cooked beautifully)

Too many. A Barisi soulmate au I was rewriting. Icemav flower shop/pilot au, the entirety of Hangster as Exes as Youngblood. The TG/FMAB au I started. There's more. I have like 130 fics in my docs and over half of those are WIPs, so.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I've been told I'm good at writing physical touches, and movements. And I like to think I'm alright at descriptions

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I get way too wordy with those mentioned above. I ramble a lot. Dialogue scares me, especially in smut (I worry I'll be too corny/porno-sounding). I basically don't do outlines unless the idea I have is really long, and even then they tend to be pretty frail and bare-bones.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I used to pretty frequently when I was writing Barisi, mostly pet names and stuff in Spanish. I no longer feel confident in writing other languages that I don't know, which limits me to English and describing ASL.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Oh god. So it might have been Pokemon back when I was in elementary school. But I typically say Attack on Titan, the summer between 7th and 8th grade. I was friends with this one girl and would literally send, over Gmail, new chapters. I still have...most? of the writing in a doc and it is HORRENDOUS.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

It's not my best fic by any means, but I have a soft spot for I Hope We Make It (To The Other Side), which is a JATP fic that hit sooo many firsts for me. It was my first finished multi-chap fic, my first time plotting shit out. I think it was some of the longest writing I'd done at the time (my avg length of fic was like 2k and 3k for a long one). And I was SO PROUD of so many little things within it.

I also love Still Singin' Here Above The Ground, which is a RWRB fic that's pretty quiet but is just. Ugh. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

i love being the Older, More Experienced Fan of something so i can help the new fans out (opposite of gatekeeping bc its more like im one of those sign-spinners outside a pizza place you just fell in love with)

like ive been a One Piece fan ever since i picked up the manga from my local library at 9-ish years old (kind of funny: i had no anime/manga-loving peers, and tho my brother liked anime/manga, he didnt discuss it with me; i found it on accident because comics and manga were put together. so no one recommended One Piece to me and, in fact, i had wrongly assumed it wasnt well-known just bc my peers didnt know it. i just had read all the other manga in our teeny section, so that was how i started reading One Piece: out of pure "i guess theres nothing else new" lmao rip. id only been avoiding it because, it had the most volumes out of any other series there, yeah, but it was also missing random volumes like 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12 type shit. but id go to Barnes & Noble and read the missing volumes and not buy them bc i was poor and watch the show online to fill in the library's gaps)

and now, bc of the live-action show, i have friends and people i am a fan of getting into One Piece. and the anime-onlys of both, i get to tug on their clothes on our private texts or in their comment sections/their askboxes and say "go and switch to OnePace.net at some point. youre fine for now, but the anime eventually pads shit out and ruins the pacing (thus hurting the fights and comedy) because they didn't want to catch up to the manga's material. so OnePace.net is an edited version of all the anime series' episodes to better match the manga's pacing". which i then do tell them the difference between filler (beach episodes type shit, i love those) and padding (making a 15 second arm-wrestling match last 2 minutes, and have much of it be repeating animation where the two guys are just teeth-gritted and glaring silently with those Anime Growls Of Efforts) and that, in my opinion, One Piece does have plenty of good anime-only filler— which OnePace does cut out. but, it also cuts out the padding. and the padding is a REALLY BIG problem the further you get into the show. so watch the filler episodes/movies if it sounds fun to you too, but otherwise just switcg to OnePace. at some point. like. the beginning of One Piece's anime is fine because they had a lot of manga content then, so it isnt an issue until later but, yeah, at some point: switch over lmao

and now i have a bunch of anime-only friends texting me thanks as well as content creators, because i just pointed them towards something they didnt know they would need and now will fully avoid a problem they didnt know would eventually happen. its cool and exciting to see a fandom take care of one another and the source material like that. it also helps shine a light on WHY people complain the One Piece anime is too long AND helps you avoid that shit

bc, yeah, a lot of fans say "ditch the anime altogether, it gets slow; the manga is better" but i think you should encounter media the way you want to. if you have options, take your pick of those options. i like both because i like seeing how things get adapted, what do they change, add, leave out, so on. i like watching subs and dubs for that same reason, so of course i like reading manga in tandem with watching anime too lmao

and idk, it just gives me joy to see new fans reply back to my Fandom Elder tip/s with a "OOOOHHHH THANK YOU" and whatnot. gives me serotonin ♡ like hell yeah, no problem, have fun on my lawn, you whippersnappers, ill be here in my rocking chair if you need me lmao rip

if someone were to say that you hated park jihoon, it would be an understatement.

from the moment you met, the two of you had never gotten along. granted, it might've been a little bit silly, considering you first met when you were five years old. you had gotten so upset with jihoon over the teeny tiny fact that he'd broken some of your favorite colored crayons. on the other end, jihoon was upset with you since your kindergarten teacher made him miss recess to write (or at least attempt to write) an apology letter.

regardless, even if it started over the littlest thing, the rivalry between the two of you was fueled by every little conflict you had, and it only seemed to spiral further as you both grew older.

when the two of you were sat next to each other in class at ten years old, you both got detention for three weeks straight after finally making the teacher reach her breaking point.

what exactly pushed her over the limit, you ask? an argument about ice cream flavors in the middle of a class discussion. jihoon went on about how mint chocolate was so great, meanwhile, you argued that it tasted like toothpaste and had no appeal.

when you were thirteen, the two of you were assigned classroom cleaning duty for an entire semester after getting kicked off the debate team. you were supposed to be having a debate about school uniform policies, but somehow it turned into a yelling match with dumb insults being thrown at one another.

when you were sixteen, there was a new teacher who thought that pairing you with jihoon for a project would be a good idea. they didn't realize their mistake until presentation day came, which is when you'd both been bickering about the slide contents in the middle of the presentation. needless to say, you both had to work on extra credit to make up for lost points, and that teacher never paired you again for anything ever again.

when it came to jihoon, you'd go from competing for better scores academically to going against each other for student council. even silly things, like being the first in line, suddenly became a competition to you. that boy simply got on your nerves and vice versa, so it was clear there would never be some kind of reconciliation between either of you.

"look, i'm sorry, but i'm not going to the movies with you, junkyu. not if he's there," you finalized. your best friend had been trying to convince you to go along with him and some of his other friends on a saturday night to see some film that one of them wouldn't shut up about.

in most cases, you probably would've said yes; after all, there was no reason for you to say no.

you had no plans for the night, you finished all the things you needed to do, and you wouldn't even need to ask for permission to go out since you'd be with a trusted friend. you even got along with hyunsuk and yoshi, who'd be tagging along, but there was still a catch.

"please, y/n? it's just a movie. it's not like you'll have to talk to jihoon for most of the night anyways. you might not even have to talk to him at all. he's been bugging me and the guys about seeing it all week."

there he was, the catch. park jihoon; presumably the only reason you'd ever turn down an invitation for a night out with your friends. of course, he had to be the one who wanted to watch the movie in the first place.

"all the more reason for me to not go," you flashed the boy sat at your kitchen counter a sarcastic smile before turning to open the fridge. when you turned to see him frowning at you, you laughed a little, nearly spilling a bit of the water you were pouring into a glass.

"you'll be alone, i'd be a bad friend if i ditched you," junkyu nagged, letting out a small 'hmph' as his shoulders slumped. "maybe i should just cancel on them."

"kyu, it's fine, you know. i don't really care if you hang out with him. you don't need to cancel on your other friends for me," the words were meant to reassure him, though you couldn't help but let out another small laugh at his frown. "i'll be fine, okay? just go. maybe i'll join in another time."

though it took a lot of convincing, you finally got junkyu to leave your apartment and hang out with his other friends. it was quieter when he left, and there you were, all alone to yourself on a saturday night with nothing else to do except stare at your ceiling and space out.

but hey, at least it beat hanging out with jihoon, right?

jihoon, who knew how to push all your buttons. jihoon, who practically always disagreed with the things you had to say. jihoon, who knew exactly what made you tick and, more often than not, chose to use it for the pure purpose of annoying you.

stupid park jihoon and his stupidly pretty face. even the thought of him annoyed you.

it didn't surprise when you got a text from junkyu half an hour later. he was whining about how you should've just gone with him to the movies anyways, because, as fate would have it, jihoon canceled on the others last minute.

you saw it coming, after all. you were the reason he canceled.

not long after the text from your best friend, you heard a knock at your front door, and lo & behold, there he was. park jihoon, your stupidly adorable boyfriend.

"i brought dinner," he grinned, watching as your face lit up at the sight of his presence. he barely had any time to react as you leaned up to kiss his cheek & then took his hand to drag him inside; he could only laugh.

"you're the best, you know that?"

"obviously," he teased, rolling his eyes at you playfully.

the two of you ending up together seemed almost unimaginable, but the universe works in mysterious ways.

well, that, and the fact that he came to apologize to you after the incident with the project when you were sixteen. it was the first and last time one of your little arguments ever actually affected your grades. you don't exactly remember who asked who to work on the make-up work with the other, but that detail didn't really matter when you both realized you had a lot more in common than you thought.

sure, you didn't get along right off the bat. the two of you still bickered for a while after that, but it was never as serious as you previously made it out to be. in fact, you were like that until recently. at some point, it almost turned into playful banter, as if you were flirting; if you could call it that.

perhaps that's where the feelings started. by the end of it, you were just grateful you both felt the same.

"hyunsuk is blowing my phone up because i canceled on them," jihoon said as he took up another spoonful of his mint chocolate chip ice cream. "he says it's almost impressive, considering junkyu couldn't get you to show up either."

"i still don't know how you eat that," you muttered, eyeing the ice cream pint in his hands. "junkyu's been doing the same to me though. i'm surprised they haven't figured it out yet. do you think they're even just a little bit suspicious of us?"

"as if. we've been doing a great job at keeping this act up for the past few months," your boyfriend laughed, rolling his eyes playfully. "do you think we should tell them yet?"

"probably."

"do you want to tell them yet?"

the question made you look back over to him, your eyes studying his features as he waited for an answer expectantly.

in response, all he got was a soft grin from you as you spoke up, your answer being completely irrelevant.

"shut up and kiss me again, idiot."

He will consistently pester you about what kind of present you got him

Gets pouty when you don’t tell him, but in the back of his mind he’s glad because it would ruin the surprise

It could be a literal rock with googly eyes and he’d put it in a protective glass case for preservation

But of course you get him something better than that because he only deserves the best

He’s got this specific assortment of products to maintain his spiky hair and to make sure it’s healthy, but they’re pretty expensive to buy when he runs out

When he tore open your present’s decorative wrapping to discover a huge basket of basically every hair product he ever needed, he got wide-eyed

There was also a booklet of little notes you’d kept throughout the month that listed all the little things you noticed and adored about your precious boyfriend

So when you recommended going to pick a Christmas tree out for your place together, he’s totally down

bc i read it before bed. this is a mix of random reactions + commentary/criticism. no pics sry! under cut bc spoilers, but i dont spoil the story itself, just some content -

- the pages at the intro with character information for some reason made me feel really nostalgic and happy, like, “wow this is a real comic” idk its hard to explain. it reminded me of reading stuff like W.I.T.C.H. as a kid (ive read a billion comics in my life but i compare to this bc its closer in general vibe) 

- anyway wow sso comics. on paper. wow (yeah i have clouds over silverglade but that was a while ago)

- hhehehehehhe south hoofers and raptor in the bg!!!!!! after this panel i kept looking at the bgs for other cameos kjhdsfg

- i can tell the swedish translation is... a bit... meh. like, yeah this is standard, especially today’s standard, but it could be smoother and more natural, which would make it more fun to read (and supportive of the language in the country where sso was made like? idk...)

- AVALON?? U HAVE A FACE??? he looks way more like evergray than i’d have thought though, youd have imagined he wouldnt want to style himself similar to him lol

- its a bit depressing how even tho this comic tries to express everyone’s personalities, lisa still barely feels like she has a personality. she can sing! ok... and... we’re wating... what else? (there are plenty of “boring” people irl, but in media you usually want to exaggerrate or simplify things a little bit) the current lisa seems like she could have more anxiety/depression in her narrative, the old lisa looked like she was tough in a different way than alex, both of those are things that could be pushed. or anything else. 

- my only like, “art related criticism”, also relates to the above - i think more work could be done in using individually unique expressions. im generally not a person who agrees with the idea of “same face syndrome” (often its a stylistic choice which is fair) but i think here it could be a good idea to work a bit more with various expressions - you can have charas who would almost never make huge shocked eyes for personality reasons, charas who always have a very obvious expression (alex does have this a lot in this comic!), charas who always look annoyed or frustrated or scared alongside whatever new emotion they get, etc. just very simplified description bc im already rambling. but basically, letting all charas emote in a similar way also removes layers of personality expression. 

- it’s cool that kora is in here!! love to see many known charas!! not rly interested in random new charas since sso already has a ton to work with 

- was a bit surprised when they said “mistfall, so youre a long way from home?” to kora when they.. were riding to firgrove from valedale? i could have understood this if they were in like epona or golden hills.. but firgrove?? shes specifically not a long way from home? confused

- i do like that the horses’ personalities get expressed, altho it does feel a bit shoved in, it’s still nice to see them. many of us are here bc of loving horses after all, and this comic delivers in featuring them a lot, even if they dont talk. i get that theres a level of “explaining everything to newbies” in this whole comic, even though i could wish that wouldve been done less blatantly. (kids arent dumb!) 

- i do kinda wish the overall story hadn’t been a standalone random thing but something more tied to what we have, exploring parts of the story & charas in sso in more detail, BUT, i think thats a valid direction to go with comics and its more just a personal preference for me. i would anytime take more sso comics that are standalone random stuff than to not have sso comics at all. 

- it seems like the reason concorde is an alive adult in this comic, is bc its an AU where concorde “almost died” but didnt, if i understood it right (they just said “she almost lost concorde”). i think thats a bit weird BUT valid, its ok to have differences in canon between different media of the same story, it tends to be like that between books and movies for example. however personally i wouldve preferred to see comics that explore, for example, the 2 years (?) between SSL and SSO, or each soul rider’s life history in general until now, or exploring in more depth events that happen in the main storyline (in sso or ssl which counts as backstory to sso)

- there were times i committed small giggle during this comic even as an adult man, tho arguably a childish adult man, but just to say that it was enjoyable, and overall i thought it was really exciting and fun to read a full sso comic book, and i hope to see a lot more (even if i’d prefer stuff like what i described - more exploration of existing story/charas). like i said at the beginning, i also got good nostalgic feels etc. i feel a bit sad now that its “over”, i wish i could have a whole pile of volumes to read for the rest of the summer. 

(when i criticise something, it means i care enough about it to criticise it! i tend to criticise stuff i love - aka sso - way more than stuff i have no interest in or dislike, which i just dont talk about much bc that would be a waste of time.)

ok i’ve talked about this a little bit before in another ask but my tags are a mess and i can’t find it but tbh i think it would be almost impossible for their darling to actually turn them against each other - even in a tiny way just because their own relationship with each other is rock solid. Iwa knows how to deal with Oikawa at his worst and vice versa. if you do end up showing preference to one over the other - say you cling to Iwa because he doesn’t go as hard on his punishments or Oikawa because a pissed off Iwa scares you they’re gonna notice, and there is nothing like a little exposure therapy to cure your fears.

Inquiring minds need to know: does the slasher trio fuck you in front of their victims? When they’re alive? When they’re dead? Both???

So, I just read the Dear Old Friend Osamu drabble and I couldn't help but grin. The implications I got from it and the initial one-shot were the following;

1. Atsumu is a titties man, considering how much he bit and teased them in DOF.

2. 'Samu I don't have a favourite twin how dare you is an ass man considering how many words of that drabble were dedicated to his thoughts lingering on the titular dear old friend's arse.

And I'm just LIVING for it because they really do complete each other in that regard. But also because 'Samu strikes me as the kind of guy that likes face sitting and spanking his partner while they sandwich his face between their thighs. And Atsumu strikes me as the kind of person that likes just randomly fiddling with his partner's tiddies because tiddy = fun.

I’ve been crying about it for weeks now, I’ve sent my sister a long ass message in caps, I’ve been.. asdfgfdsajf When Yuu started crying “Anybody! God! The devil!I don’t care who, just kill me, but save Mika!” my heart just broke. Man, I cannot handle their angst no more, I... I mean, they can’t live with each other, you... how fucking dare u.

I’m still not over this, Idk when I will be. And like of, course I knew that he wouldn’t die, but still that for fucking awfully heartbreaking scene. And how he was dying, but trying to calm Yuu down? Like “you’re gonna be okay without me, just pls don’t cry” and Yuu screaming that without him he’s alone “pls I don’t wanna be alone again” I can’t I fucking I CAN”T shoot me in the face 

But Mika confessing before dying is very classic romantic movie scene. I’m so happy for them xD  

Also honestly chapter 93 killed me even more, when Mika said how he wanted to be with him for a thousand years and Yuu was like “I’m here, with you and I’ll make our dream come true” and Mika starts crying that it’s all a dream. When he was sobbing how he was so tired of this, I just legit started crying, cause I can’t anymore.

They’re one of those ships that just keep getting more and more angsty to the point where I’m pissed already, STOP DOING THIS TO ME! 

I just think they deserve to be happy and I literally can’t watch this all happening anymore. Same as with AOT even fics are hardly helping me these days with everything that’s going on in the manga. I’m like this is too much already, pls no, pls, I just want a happy ending. 

It’s you know, like when I was reading “mo dao zu shi” it was like mixed with like present where I knew everything is gonna be okay even tho there were so much angst in between, but in TV they actually put all the flashbacks first and I had to watch all that torture in one go and just sat with a box of tissues and at some moment I thought that I’m legit gonna quit, cause my favorites are just repeatedely crashed both physically and mentally. And it was exausting.

I really like them for a number of reasons: 1 he makes Daisy happy 2 they are hot together 3 the trolling!!!! Plus, I loved how it enchanced the narrative. Their scenes together are very cute and the first time when I actually watched instead of lurking in the tags was the time loop episode which was great for the ship.

P. S. In another episode of "TVD scarred me for life" I now see Steggy-Daniel as Stelena-Caroline with Daisy playing Klaus' role, lmfao!

Jemma/Fitz

The finale did a miracle for me, making me lile Fitzsimmons. Well, sort of. I certanly don't resent them anymore, even find their last scenes with Alya very cute. Idk how I'll feel when I will rewatch the whole show, even the two seasons I skipped. We'll see.

Sidenote: They were totally AOS's version of Pepperony+Morgan, weren't they? My God, the Endgame trolling was real xD.

Mack/Elena

It's cute and I am glad Mack got such an amazing ship. They were at their best in season 4, imo, but even in season 7 they got their moments: aside from the finale, I loved the episode where they meet Mack's parents back in the 80's.

May/Coulson

I count it because of what you told me of season 5 finale. Honestly, I really liked how much May was into him (the real him, not the LMD one, even if season 7 did provide some nice moments for the half-LMD ship). And seeing Coulson with May always made me like him a lot more. As with Yoyomack, I feel they were at their best in season 4. Tho, I am curious how I will feel during the rewatch.

Claire/Douxie/Jim

Cuties!! Clearly, Jim/Claire is the best ship in the whole verse, but I loved how soft both of them were with Douxie. And the parallels between the new trio and Morgana/Merlin/Arthur made me really appreciate the dynamic. I really wish that the movie will be kind to them as I want more content.

-I had a lot of fun with this one! I enjoyed reading your description and being really specific helped me determine which Hero was better for you. At first, I was torn between All might and Hawks since they both seemed to be really laid back in certain activities they do, but hawks and you seemed to have similar interests and similar attitudes.

-I felt that Hawks would like someone with an attitude like his, laid back and idealistic, yet healing and therapeutic. Hawks needs someone that he can confide in since he goes through a ton of pressure daily despite not looking like it. Having someone that is gentle to a level where he can let his guard down is important, trust is important for him. Plus, what kind of relationship is it if you don’t trust your partner?

-I think he would absolutely adore planning out little dates that specifically involved only you and him since he just wants some time with his girl alone, but if you asked him that you wanted to go out he wouldn’t mind at all. You pulled up to the parking lot of the convenience store, picking up your purse and stepping out of the car with your money already in your hand. The door opened ahead of you with a small ding, revealing the rows of food and the clerks' desk upfront.

You scanned over the store’s range and noticed how weirdly empty it was, not a lot of customers were present at the moment though the woman already at the front desk looked oddly excited. Maybe it was someone important? Well, it was probably none of your business anyways, you’re just a customer after all so you just paid attention to what you came here for.

Fried chicken. Hell yeah.

Fried chicken along with potato chips and drinks was the main ingredient for a great marathon to where you could binge-watch all the episodes you wanted. ALL the episodes, although your parents would probably scold you for your unhealthy habits, as you said before, you could care less.

So you began walking down the aisles, dragging your finger over the tags to look for your favorite brand of chips under their company name all the while obliviously ignoring the floating crimson object that drifted across the air.

You then felt a little tickle at your neck at which you swiped to the back of your head and grabbed what appeared to be..a feather? Which was strangely familiar as it was red too.

The only red feather you had ever seen was that of a certain famous hero's wings and it's not like he'd pick such a low profile store to get some food, right? But then you really couldn't think of him any less based on the current decisions you're making right now.

Just as you were about to inspect the small little feather, it zoomed from out of your grasp and flew ahead over the aisles. By then, you had finally paid attention to the conversations that carried over the wave of food and products.

You craned your neck over to look at the superintendent and... a man?

Much to your surprise, it was the number three pro hero, Hawks! His cheerful demeanor was just as laid-back as ever. His blonde hair was slicked back with a few stray locks framing his face while he donned a leather jacket and matching black pants for an outfit.

Your mouth was wide open in surprise, what a coincidence! You were right! So you leaned in quietly and began listening in on their conversations, being sure not to make yourself get exposed and labeled as another one of Hawk's stir crazy fangirls.

Your ears then picked up on Hawk's smooth yet rough voice, the volume of his speech echoing across the store as he asked a certain thing about the manager's day or what he'd thought about doing all the while digging through his pocket, both front and back.

He must've been looking for something...like money.

You clasped a hand over your mouth to silence yourself from laughing before you were caught. The number three pro hero, Hawks, had forgotten money to buy some things at the store...which was fried chicken.

Respectable choice, a faith that you had to save a fellow chicken eater from.

So you quietly walked over to their positions, being mindful not to interrupt their conversation and gently tugged on Hawk's jacket. He gradually turned around and met your gaze directly with just a hint of surprise and turbulence.

"Oh, hey! Another fan? You need me to sign something of yours?" he spoke in a cheerful manner to which you simply shook your head and brought his hand to yours and put in a couple wads of cash before walking out of the store and waving him and the superintendent goodbye.

Perhaps another time would be better, you could always wait for your paycheck and get a much higher paying. 'Yeah, that'd be much better than that shabby amount.' you thought to yourself while bringing your purse closer to your chest in giddiness and opening the door to your automobile.

He was confused for a moment before he brought his attention to his hand and gently opened it. The slips of cash you left in his care were just the amount he had been missing to get himself a quick snack ere going back to his house.

He felt a small blush creep up his neck when the realization hit him, you must've seen his crappy attempt at finding some random change in his pocket when you were just a few aisles behind him in the store.

So, wasting no time to say his thanks, he quickly paid for his food and said his goodbyes before rushing to the front of the store and catching your vehicle leave just at the last moment.

He used his large vermillion wings to wave to you while you left and hazily watched your car leave to the next street on the highway. How oddly nice of a citizen to give him some spare cash, maybe he'd repay you the next time you came around...that is, if he could find you.

-So after that, Hawks did manage to find you the next time around and he did keep his promise of returning your fair share of money. Although the other times you guys did meet up around the store was when you returned to get more snacks and he was simply buying more chicken, claiming that the store had good quality food.

-He tries to make small talk with you either by using the fact that he doesn’t have enough money as an excuse or that he’s just simply another pro hero passing by and checking in on his favorite citizen.

-The time when you guy’s actually agreed to dating was by him confessing and using chicken drumsticks as a gift for your first date. It worked.

-Both You and Hawks have energy that matches each other, you practically fit like puzzle pieces based on how I view it. You both share similar views on how the world could work if it would differ on a creative basis or when you know how to take a break from certain things and just be in each other’s presence.

-He tries to get as many breaks as he can from doing hero work, so if he consults his agencies about how much time he’s missing being away from you, he’ll try and send little trinkets from his workplace to you and let you know he’ll be home sooner or later.

-Now, this guy has the DNA of a hawk, you can definitely expect him to randomly go into phrases involving sexual matters such as mating season and i’d imagined that would happen mostly around the spring with the summer sometimes being an exception.

-Hawks is that one bitch that prays before eating you out, I will not hold a discussion for this. HE IS THAT BITCH and NO ONE CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE.
