Helloooo maybe an odd question but where does The Whitechapel Fiend connect to the stories? I’m trying to work out the timeline in my head currently. These poor shadowhunters at this time are absolutely awash with serial killers!

It was about thirteen, fourteen years before the events of The Last Hours? The Whitechapel Fiend deals with Jack the Ripper; TLH deals with a completely fictional serial killer, so their modus operandi is pretty different (Jack the Ripper only killed women, etc).  And of course, what "we” think is the work of a serial killer also opens Clockwork Angel, is in Lady Midnight, City of Fallen Angels, etc. Because the Shadowhunters deal with any supernatural force murdering mundanes, it is unfortunately their job to be involved in a lot of what looks like serial killing. The question in Chain of Iron is really: is this a serial killer or something else that looks like it?

Also, while Jack gets the headlines, there were a lot of Victorian serial killers. Look up H. H. Holmes, or The Thames Torso Murders for fun.
