Something about a Pygmalion take on Jaceporter is so appealing to me… in that way that Porter reveres power and domination… the tension between his desire to seek out and keep a Jace as a perfect spineless compliant lackey vs a need to remake Jace in the image of someone who is powerful and dominant and assertive. Jace that is complacent and cowardly and passive is a Jace he can use and control but never respect, and he loves what that Jace can do FOR him. But as Jace is transformed by rage, a Jace who is furious and oppositional and autonomous and actualized and powerful and is able to stand in the face of Porter and tell him he cannot stay even if it means death is a Jace he can respect and maybe even admire but no longer control. In the same way Henry Higgins cannot truly make a Lady until she has outgrown him, (“Eliza you’re magnificent. 5 minutes ago you were a millstone around my neck and now you’re a tower of strength. A consort battleship. I like you this way Eliza” “goodbye professor Higgins”). Because conflict is at the heart of war, Porter cannot truly anoint a Saint of the God of War until Jace has outgrown him.
I know that you said that the posgrad au is mostly focused on the sixtuplets and all but i want to know.... how is totoko doing?
Totoko is doing well! She's working at her parent's fish shop in lieu of becoming an underground idol. She still has a very strong personality with her temper and all, but it's a little more reigned in because she's not getting fawned over by 6 idiots all the time. She's still plenty confident in herself, but she's a little lonely without her boys
She sees Oso often because he picks up stock from her shop, and sometimes she'll go out of her way to spend time with him. She and Choro exchanged numbers before he left, so they still text each other from time to time and sometimes they even see each other in person. Totoko is vaguely aware Oso and Choro had a fight, so she never brings up one to the other. She hangs out with Chibita too, and sometimes she and Oso will sit at the stand and shoot the shit with him.
There are times where she sees the others in public when she visits other wards, but she's apprehensive about approaching them. She was apprehensive with the situation in high school, and now it seems like it's gotten even worse... she doesn't even know if they'd want to reconnect with her. So she stays out of their way.
Hey, quick fucking note to everyone who reads/sends me asks about bad Zutara takes. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT go onto the OPs blogs and harass them or send them hate. I respond to these asks because I like clearing up misconceptions, looking at other people's opinions (which is why you'll see me agree with some points) and its good practice in researching sources, media analysis, etc. I don't want these people to get harassed or dogpiled on, even if their takes are poor and biased. I will stop responding to that type of asks if it happens, because apparently one of the OPs got some hate and it could be connected to me talking about one of their posts.
