I came up with this au ages ago and just randomly remember it loll.

Explanation of this au>>

So if u have been following me for a while u prob know abt my villain au (or as I usually call it the au where Varigo take over Corona). This is the same au just from Nurus pov. Bc I was thinking abt this au again and what happens with Yong and Nuru. In this post I'm gonna be explaining all the lore for this au so u might wanna get comfy lol.

First let's start with Nuru bc that's what these drawings are Abt. (Quick tw for trypophobia)

In this au Nuru goes searching for a way to stop the meteor shower that destroys her kingdom in doing so she finds a stone which can restart time so every night she goes onto her balcony and restarts the day (like miss peregrines home for peculiar children) but this stone does have a limit. If she goes too far back in time it becomes excruciatingly painful and could kill her bc... (Drumroll) The stone is slowly corrupting and killing her body! Yay :D if she uses the stone for too long it will completely corrupt her body and kill her. Her dying would look like a mix between Luz's dying scene and this scene in a junji ito book. The magic would basically rot her insides and burn out through her skin :p

As long as she doesn't overuse her powers she shouldn't die for at least 45 ish years. U can already see corruption in her hair and eyes tho. Nuru desperately wants to find another way to save her kingdom but if she leaves for too long the meteor shower will destroy the kingdom and she doesn't want to burden another with the powers of the stone. So that's why she allies with Corona to find another solution. Koto has now become a very powerful kingdom due to Nuru's powers and has many allies (I will talk more Abt that later). Nuru and Varian are pretty similar in this au (I'll also talk abt that more a bit later) but Nuru tends to be more sure Abt her decisions and is less out of it than Varian. Nuru is also very possessive almost? And doesn't like criticism. Like REALLY doesn't like criticism (do with that info as u please) Also the song in the first drawing is queen of hearts by flailing idiot.

Amber

I'm doing amber next bc I don't have as much to say Abt her. Amber finds out that she has more family (Varian) and sets out to find him. When she does find him Varian is very skeptical of her. At first Amber tried to see the good side of Varian but inevitably can't deny he's insane. But she ends up finding out his sob story and decides to help (she's big on family in this au). Varian still isn't rlly sure what to think abt her but hey free labour so who cares.

One day whilst Koto and Corona are having some kinda transaction or whatever Nuru just kinda sees Amber and is like. That one. I want that. Varian is kinda like alr I don't rlly care Abt her. And they essentially have an arranged marriage but they learn to love each other (and honestly have the healthiest relationship in this au).

Yong/allies

I didn't have a huge amount planned for Yong at first but here's what I'm thinking. In this au Bayangor is a very poor Kingdom. One day whilst Nuru was searching for a way to save her kingdom she visits Bayangor and comes across an incredibly smart kid. She invites him to join her journey and promises that if she finds a way to stop the meteors his family can live in her castle bc he doesn't deserve to live in the streets. Basically after that Nuru practically adopts Yong lol and Bayangor becomes a close allie to Koto a big reason for that being despite how poor and small the kingdom is it does actually have some pretty good fuel resources. But no other kingdoms ever try to become allies because of how dead Bayangor looks.

I was gonna talk abt Varigo and Nuru and Varians similarities as well but idk if Tumblr has a word limit bc that will prob be triple how much is written here and this already super long😅 so I'll do it in the next post I have so much more to say but I'll put it all in the next post!!

He has something of his, something he found, or something he bought for you nearly every time you meet up. He's a sucker for matching items as well. Couples plushies (he makes them kiss whenever he comes over), couples keychains, couples necklaces, ect. With jewelry, he always manages to find tasteful matching things. But he occasionally will get one of the corny heart pieces or something just because it's funny.

He is your number one hypeman until he dies. And then probably after that. His face totally lights up when you show him anything having to do with you. Or even just when you walk in the room and he notices something. If you get your nails, hair, lashes ect done, its a BIG DEAL for him.

"Let me see!! They're so pretty!" "Baby you look so goood!!" "Did you get your lashes done? They look amazing!"

Even if he notices you're feeling under the weather, he's there to remind you how much you mean to him, and even if you're insecure about anything, he makes it known that you are everything to him.

He finds cooking with you to be messy, but fun. He likes to put on your favorite songs just to see you hum and dance while in the kitchen.

HE SENDS YOU SO MUCH SHIT ON MY GOD. Instagram reels, tiktoks, memes he got on discord, links to clothes he thinks is cool, screenshots of clothing items or plushies that you may want. Literally everything. You two will send tiktoks back and forth for hours until its super late, text eachother goodnight, and then like an hour later, both see eachother online again and go "WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP STILL? GO TO BED" only to have the other send the stupidest meme in response. Often times, this leads to facetimes at 1am with you two giggling into your phones until you finally get tired. Then, you'll sleep on facetime together.

His gallery is full of you. Both pictures he took of you, and photos of you two together. He's a pretty energetic guy, and you two like to go exploring a lot, which means pictures at the park, pictures at new restaurants and cafes, photo evidence of you two getting into mischief, everything. He loves taking photos and capturing memories of you two.

Absolutely infatuated with you. He can't keep his hands off you. Not in a sexual way, but he's always holding your hand, wrapping his arms around your waist/shoulders, playfully poking at you, kissing your cheek, anything. He loves to randomly tilt your chin towards him so he can pepper kisses all over your cheeks/ lips

OH AND YOUR HAIR. He's respectful, so of course he asked before touching, but he's awfully curious about it. He loves your curls and the different styles you do/get done. Chifuyu is overall a very playful boyfriend. His number 1 priority is your safety. His second is your happiness. He likes to be corny for jokes, but you truly are everything to him. He's very cuddly and loves to share every aspect of his life with you. If you two ever encounter problems, he's a "We'll figure this out together." Kind of guy.

how did you develop such a successful blog?? was wondering about starting up my own but have no clue what to do i fear i lack the commitment😔

hi baby!! first of all, ty for calling me successful, i definitely wouldn't consider myself that but i love you 😭 lemme break down the process for you bc it seems nerve-wracking but it's honestly just about testing and trying things out!!

1. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND THE COMMITMENT ISSUES. i started this blog back in like early 2023, ditched it for a while, started posting again in late 2023, ditched it for basically all of 2024 and only started consistently posting in november. so when i restarted my blog, i already kind of had a small following which gave me a boost. time was a big thing for me, but tbh my fics didn't do well super until last year anyway, which brings me onto point 2

2. try to stay consistent, but also don't over post. i realised my fics would do better when id only post once every two to three days rather than everyday or multiple times a day. this is bc it gives that singular fic time to actually gain attention and grow in popularity before people get distracted by the next!! also, something i found as someone with adhd is that prewriting a TON and saving it in my drafts to post later on helps me keep posting consistently even if im not writing consistently. i'd say at least 50% of everything i post is pre written days or even weeks in advance!! if im in a creative mood or have the time to write, i always try to do extra or even start fics/list ideas so if i have a creative dry spell, i have backups.

last of all, the algorithm is messy and confusing to navigate (even for me ill have times where one fic will get only 200 notes and another with similar content will get 1.5k) and your first few posts might not do as well, but don't lose hope!! keep putting your things out there, it'll take time but it's such a beautiful community on here xxx good luck my angel

how do u color so nicely? sorry for such a vague question but your style and the way you color and shade stands out so much to me, its super unique, do you upload speedpaints or anything?

Lol its ok thank you so much! I haven't made a speedpaint since I was like 12 but they were fun so I could record more if anyone would be interested

My actual coloring process is hard to describe (and also generally very inconvenient but its the way I like to do things) so i will do my best to show you using this arcade drawing I never posted:

First my sketches are reallyyyyy messy. Also i draw on a grey background because supposedly it helps you choose better colors but idk if that's true. Also here's my sketch brush for CSP if anyone is interested

Second I put down flat colors. These ones are a little messed up since I erased them as I went later but this is the gist of it. My base coloring is messy and usually doesn't cover all the sketch since I change so much as I go anyway

Third i make a new layer above both the colors and lines layers and just paint over it until I like how it looks. usually my rendered/realistic drawings look bad until I do this. For this piece I had THAT ^ until i decided i didn't like it so I colored over it AGAIN: (colored over instead of restarting bc I liked the face)

NOTABLY, the most important part of my coloring process is probably color jitter. I mostly use a brush called flashito on CSP which has built-in color jitter, but you can turn it on on basically any brush you use. It basically just makes it so that each stroke has a slightly different saturation or hue based on your brush settings. It helps me get the color variety I like and works well with my insane painting process.

usually by the time I'm done painting something, I do so much that I can hide the lines and flat colors layers and it'll be virtually the exact same. Here's my arcade drawing without the flats/lines layers on

It's a little tedious but I like how it looks. This is a long post but honestly in short I think using a brush with color jitter will do a lot for you if you like the way my coloring looks. If u don't want flashito here's how to turn on color jitter on any brush on CSP, not sure about other art programs though

As for shading I honestly think I'm not very good at shading but i'm just critical because I'm myself. Usually i just try to remember that if the lighting is warm then the shadows will be cool or some sort of similar rule. unfortunately i love bright colors so it is hard for me to follow this

I've been giving AJ a lot of attention recently, so I went with Janine/Felix for this one, and posting today as a (slightly early) birthday fic for my girl. --- Janine was singing.

Felix could hear her even before he reached her flat and grinned. It sounded like she was having fun, belting out a pop song. He could pick up her elevated heartbeat, too.

Oh, yeah. She's having fun. Whatever she's doing. He fished the key to her place out of his pocket. (she'd given Bravo two; one for him and one for Nate "'cause I trust you most with my stuff.") Felix hadn't used his yet, so there was a small pulse of relief in his chest when it worked and he slipped inside.

Janine was having fun--so much she didn't immediately notice his entrance. She was cleaning; pushing a dust mop across the spaces of wood floor between her rugs and occasionally pausing to dance around with the mop.

Felix's grin widened at the sight. She was so gorgeous happy, even in legging and a ratty, too-big t-shirt, hair in a messy bun with a cloth headband holding wispys back from falling in her face. "Surely you can do better for a partner, babe."

She twitched at the realization she wasn't alone, then relaxed just as fast seeing it was him. "Easy as pie, now that you're here." She leaned the dust mop on the back of the loveseat. "I thought you were working today."

"Maybe I'm s'pposed to be," Felix grinned, waggling his brows. "Or maybe a couple meetings got cancelled and you're the best way to spend my free time."

Janine smiled. "Why'd the meetings get cancelled?"

"Didn't ask," he shrugged. "All I care is that I don't have to go. Thought I'd see if you wanted to do something..." He glanced at the cleaning supplies scattered around the kitchen and living room. "But clearly you already have plans."

"Yeah, sorry." She wrinkled her nose. "Since I'm off today and you weren't supposed to be, today is summer cleaning. And I have company coming tomorrow, so I have to finish today."

"So I'll help," Felix offered.

Janine arched a brow. "You sure, babe? I love spending time with you, but I know cleaning isn't your favorite."

"Hey, anything I get to do with you is my favorite activity by default." He grinned and tugged her close to twirl around. "One condition: we stop for any songs that are super-danceable."

"Deal," she laughed, grabbing his shoulder to stop herself. "Except how do you know all my music tastes aren't super danceable?"

"Guess we'll just have to tighten up the criteria," Felix said. "Whaddya want me doing?"

"Hmmm..." Janine slipped her phone from her pocket to pause the music. "The kitchen, I guess? That's mostly wiping down counters, and finishing the dishes I have in the sink. So you don't have to worry about pungent cleaning agent smells and we can see each other."

"Aw, babe, thanks for looking out for me," Felix said, giving her a peck of a kiss before he headed into the kitchen.

Janine laughed and restarted the song as she reached for the dust mop to get back to work.

Her playful question about her music proved valid; pretty much all of it was very danceable. It varied in tempo but maintained a good energy for cleaning. Felix made himself wait and work through three whole songs before one of his favorites came on and he couldn't help it.

He dropped the rag he was using on the counter and zipped across the floor to tug Janine away from cleaning windows to dance with him. "We can't pass this one up!"

She laughed, eyes sparkling. "You are a very bad influence, darling."

"The worst," Felix agreed cheerfully with a wink.

The two had their impromptu dance session, laughing the whole time. Janine was so graceful Felix couldn't take his eyes off her(but that was always the case when they were in the same room). He could see the influence of her years in ballet on how she moved, even just goofing off with him to a more modern song. It was captivating.

"You're studying me like there's going to be a test," Janine said, breathless teasing that startled him out of his reverie. "Everything okay?"

"Yeah. You're just so gorgeous when you're happy. And always, but you know what I mean, I like seein' you happy. Getting to relax."

"Technically supposed to be cleaning rather than relaxing," she said wryly, "but I suppose this is better than... a lot of what we do for work, regardless."

"I just..." Felix caught her hand and twirled her in close. "You've gone through a lot of shit since we met" --because we met-- "and I like getting to see you genuinely happy, too." He kissed her and she hummed appreciation, her free hand sliding to cup the side of his neck. (Fireworks, again. How was she such a good kisser?)

"Shouldn't be terribly hard to catch," she winked. "I'm always happy with you."

The last beats of the song faded out as his heart exploded a little with joy at her words. "Me, too," he whispered, and then got distracted when the next song started with a much slower tempo--jarringly slower--than the rest of the playlist. "Wow," he muttered. "Talk about a mood change."

"Risk of hitting shuffle, you never know what's next." Janine grinned and pulled him back when he started for the kitchen. "I don't think we're done yet."

"This is your idea of danceable, babe?" Felix teased even as he let her reel him in and start swaying to the soft melody.

"Can't hurt to brush up on your slow dancing, Agent Hauville," she riposted, mischief in her grey eyes as she settled her arms around his neck. "You never know when you might need it for infiltration or what have you."

Felix bit back a grin and looked down at their feet. "And if I point out I ddon't really know how to do the fancy formal slow kind of dancing, Agent Elder?"

Janine smiled. "I do. And it's Agent Elder the younger, if we're being formal."

He laughed, finally settling his hands on her hips as they continued swaying to the song. "I think we need to get your mom a promotion. You two having the same title is weird."

"I don't disagree," she said with a giggle, leaning her forehead briefly against his shoulder. "Though I think we'll need a better reason to convince her superiors."

Felix snorted. "True. But let's get back to how not-surprised I am you know this kind of dancing, too."

"You do know me well," she said. "Honestly, Felix, a lot of slow dancing you can fake it just by holding your partner close and swaying in time to the music, like we're doing now. Small shuffle-y steps. It's only with something more specific like a waltz you need to know certain steps if you don't want to stand out."

You'd stand out in any crowd. "So I'm following your lead, then?" he joked.

"Only until you know the steps. Then I'll happily follow yours." Janine leaned in to kiss him. "Wherever you want to go."

"No pressure or anything," he murmured against her lips. You're much better at leading.

She slid her hand forward, thumb brushing arcs over his cheek. "I trust you, Felix."

"Glad to hear that." Felix swallowed. Doesn't really help with the no pressure thing. "I trust you, too."

Janine smiled at that, and this time when she leaned in to kiss him he met her halfway. His hands tightened on her waist, her arms slid around his neck, as fireworks flashed across their vision. (or at least across his.) The parted and rested their foreheads against each other, still swaying slightly as the song faded out.

"I guess we should get back to cleaning," Janine murmured in the brief silence before another, more upbeat, song started off.

"Guess we should." Felix couldn't resist stealing another quick kiss before they disentangled themselves to get back to work. He grinned, catching her smiling to herself as she resumed cleaning windows, and picked up where he'd left off. Maybe slow songs weren't so bad.

Nothing was, that made her smile like that.

And then she started singing along with the current song and Felix couldn't help but join in.

2016 Mexican GP

Hello, it's Mexico! 

The championship can end here, if Nico wins and Lewis finishes 10th or worse. We all know it didn't happen but well, with the reliability issues Lewis had, it wasn’t impossible. It looks cold. All the drivers are bundled up for the driver parade. 

Lewis was ahead all weekend but during the last lap of quali things seemed closer all of a sudden. They emphasise Nico's good lap so much that I thought he was on pole until I saw the grid summary, and he's not. It's Lewis ahead, by 0.254 so not even that close by that year's standards. Then Max, ahead of Daniel, Hulkenberg, Raikkonen ahead of Seb, Valtteri ahead of Massa, and Sainz. 

Somehow Nico speaks in Spanish to the crowd. How many languages does he know? It's impressive. 

Okay well the build up was very uninteresting. Let's race. 

Formation lap. 

And they're racing! 

Nico gets a better start than Lewis but Lewis gets there eventually and stays ahead. Hulkenberg is alongside Max before the first corner and LEWIS LOCKS UP! He goes wide and cuts the second corner through the grass. Max pushes Nico wide in the meantime. It's messy but Max lets him back ahead. AND THERE'S CONTACT AT THE BACK! It's Ocon and Ericsson. Lewis kept the advantage he got cutting the corner and I'm not sure that's gonna go down well with the stewards, but if there's a safety car anyway they'll bunch back up. Yellow flags. Brundle has the same questions about what he calls "Lewis' little adventure" and thinks it might be sensible to slow down a bit. Someone else cuts a corner. And it's a VSC, so it won't help the gaps. Seb has a puncture, he says. Yeah we can see his front right wobbling? The VSC is for Wehrlein so I guess it wasn't Ericsson and Ocon. The Mercs guys are waiting for a car in the pits? Neither driver comes in. Ricciardo does, they're getting rid of the supersofts, and weirdly Seb stays out. Palmer pits as well but who cares. And Ericsson. And now it's an actual safety car. Nico and Max are under investigation. It seems Nico is only ahead of Max because he went across the grass but well. He was pushed wide by him so? Idk. After a few replays Brundle does point out Max "gave him a shove" and maybe it's not as clear cut as they made it out to be until now. The safety car is coming in. Lewis asks how the vibration is. Bono says they're not "super concerned" with it and it's more about whether he can live with it. Lewis says it's gonna be hard and that there's a 100-degree difference between the two brakes. After the restart, Sainz says his gearbox is failing. Lewis is getting away nicely. The stewards still haven't made a decision about the Nico v. Max incident but it might be made redundant very soon because Max is only 0.7 behind him anyway and might overtake him before they figure it out. 0.4. And it's no further action. Daniel is making his way through the field after his stop. 

It's lap 10 out of 71. Lewis, Nico +3.0, Max +1.0, Hulkenberg +1.9, Raikkonen +1.4, Massa +2.4, Seb +0.6, Valtteri +1.7, Perez +0.5, and Sainz +4.6. Now there's two open investigations : one for the start collision between Ericsson, Wehrlein and Gutierrez and one for a different collision between Alonso and Sainz. Verstappen pits. Sainz, Magnussen, Gutierrez follow for the midfield. Seb is battling Massa for P5 desperately. No further action for the lap 1 collision. Seb complains that Massa is ruining his own (Massa's) race by not letting him pass which is a bit insane. There's a train forming behind him but like. It's not his fucking problem you know? Hulkenberg pits, as does Massa which solves Seb's problem I guess. Sainz gets a 5 second time penalty for forcing Alonso off track. Alonso is told to push now and he doesn't like it. "Yes I am pushing. I am pushing from lap one. But we are driving for 15 laps with a car that should not be in the race. So do your job, I’m doing mine." The Merc mechanics are out again and Lewis comes in. Excellent 2.1 stop. Out in 4th on the mediums. Ted says RedBull thinks they have Nico covered with Daniel on P7 having pitted already but Nico is still faster at that point. On the other hand, Max in P8 is faster than Daniel on his tyre so the journalists think they should swap them. Ricciardo is told he needs to overtake the two next cars quickly, "we are fighting each other" the engineer says. 

It's lap 20. Nico currently in the lead before his stop, Raikkonen +8.2, Seb +5.1, Lewis +1.7, Perez +8.2, Daniel now in P6 +0.4 so about to be P4 and 23.9 seconds behind Nico, then Max +0.9, Hulkenberg +7.0, Massa +11.1, and Valtteri +1.4. Nico pits! 2.2. Raikkonen in as well. Nico is ahead of the RedBulls, not by much it seems. Max is half a second behind his team-mate. Max is on radio, complaining. He is on fresher tyres. They swap. Nico is told they only did half the flap adjust so he has more front wing than planned. Weird. The Williams also swap, with Valtteri getting ahead. Nico is told Max is pushing hard now. He asks if he's doing it because he's gonna stop again. He's told he's trying to put him under pressure. Lewis says his tyres don't feel that great. Seb finally pits after 29 laps. Oh no he doesn't? He stayed out while they were waiting for him. 

And like that it's lap 30. So Seb still in the lead, Lewis +3.7, Nico +4.9, Max +2.5, Ricciardo +2.8, Raikkonen +6.2, Hulkenberg +6.5, Valtteri +10.9, Massa +4.5, and Perez +0.6. They call Seb again and this time he pits. Lewis is back in the lead. Seb out in P6. Max is told to keep it clean behind Nico probably because he needs to make the tyre last. He's about 1.5 away but now Nico is getting some space. Daniel is told to keep up the pace because it's getting cloudy and they don't want the tyre to cool down too much.

Lap 40, Lewis, Nico +4.2, Max +1.2, Daniel +4.7, Raikkonen +5.0, Seb +1.8, Hulkenberg +10.4, Valtteri +12.8, Massa +7.5, and Perez +0.4, still. Lewis is told as well the track temperature is dropping so everyone is being told to bring the pace up. Nico is closing on Lewis now, setting fastest laps. Bono warns Lewis there's 8 traffic cars coming up. Seb is closing on Raikkonen as well and he's evidently on much fresher tyres. Raikkonen is called to box. Now we get to the moment where we figure who's on two stops and who's on one. Seb asks if they're sure the others are trying to go to the end, in particular the RedBulls. He's told Ricciardo is trying to go to the end so he should keep trying. Max is less than a second behind Nico now as they hit traffic as well. Ricciardo says the left rear looks like it's taken a hit. 

Lap 50. Nico locks up and Max is attacking. And he overtakes him but brakes too late and goes wide! Brings the gap back to 2 and something seconds. And Ricciardo pits, so he didn't make it to the end after all. Alright so. Lewis, Nico +6.5, Max +2.6, Seb +5.6, Hulkenberg +17.7, and we move to a replay so I don't know the rest. Ricciardo +0.4, Raikkonen +2.8, Valtteri +12.4, Massa +8.9, and Grosjean pits so I don't know who's P10. I wonder if the lead can really stay out for 20 more laps on their current tyres. Seems unlikely in Mexico. 

Max has hit some debris with his floor, he says. Daniel overtakes Hulkenberg easily. Perez is still stuck half a second behind Massa btw. It's been like 30 laps. 5 second time penalty to Kvyat for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. He's like P17 so who cares.

And it's lap 60. This is so long. Lewis, Nico +7.4, Max +3.4, Seb +4.5, Daniel +10.4, Hulkenberg +14.3, Raikkonen +0.7, Valtteri +14.7, Massa +10.1, and Perez +1.7. Max is warned Seb is coming for him. The gap is down to 2.6. The gap to Lewis is increasing on the other hand. 1.4 to Max. Ricciardo is told he’ll catch them as well at his current pace. 0.9 to Max. Raikkonen overtakes Hulkenberg for P6 BUT THEY TOUCH AND HULKENBERG SPINS! Right in the middle of the track! Two backmarkers have to swerve to avoid him. He manages to go again. 4 laps to go. Meanwhile Seb is just 0.2 seconds away from Max who locks up! HE GOES WIDE AND STILL REJOINS AHEAD OF SEB that seems illegal. Remember it's for P3 as well. The gap is 0.3 he's still defending. Daniel is right behind them as well! Max is told to give the position to Seb by GP. He's not doing it. Seb is whining. "Hey he has to let me go. He had to let me go." – "Okay copy stay calm," he's told. That's Max, Seb +0.6, and Daniel +1.0 down the straight. 3 laps to go. No words from the stewards still. Arrivabene is losing it on the pit wall, in a very Italian manner. LOTS of hands. Max, Seb +0.6, Daniel +0.5. It could get messy. Seb is very angry. "Move! Move for fuck sake! He's a (censored) that's what he is." 2 laps to go. OH MY GOD WHAT. WHAT. WHAT. The stewards are gonna investigate AFTER THE RACE?! ARE YOU JOKING??????????? ARE YOU? WHAT?! Oh I can't believe this what the absolute fuck. This is so stupid. Seb is attacking now. 0.2, and 0.4 to Ricciardo. Seb is still on radio while the gaps go 0.5 and 0.1. "I mean am I the only one or are you not seeing what I’m seeing? He’s just backing me off into Ricciardo!" Daniel attacks and locks up heavily it's a messy move. Seb stays ahead. Max gets some air in the process, he's 1.6 seconds away now. They touched btw. This is ugly for real. The gaps are 1.8 and 1.4 now. Final lap. Daniel is losing a lot of time with his flat spot now. 2.7 in a few corners' span.

And it's the end of the race! 

Lewis wins in a Mercedes 1-2.

To Seb : "Charlie said that… Charlie said…" He interrupts : "Yeah?! You know what? Here's a message to Charlie : FUCK OFF. Honestly FUCK OFF." He's gonna get a penalty himself for that I bet. You can't insult Charlie on air lol. Although I get it truly I do. Oh and they're investigating the Ricciardo - Vettel moment as well. Seb still gives a thumb up to Lewis as he goes past him. 

We see a replay of Max celebrating like he's won the race after crossing the line. Bro. You're not keeping that P3, I'm telling you. Although I guess they did look the other way with the Mercs. They're making hand gestures at each other with Seb, who was going "no no" with his finger beside him. 

Bop!

And now we hear Max got a 5 second time penalty which means Seb is really P3 and probably Ricciardo P4 and why did they wait just for the end of the race to say it, it's so stupid. Is he really gonna step on the podium after this? It's absurd. Max is in the cool down room. Oh lol. The top three park in one place and all the others are back in the Parc fermé area. So we have a double screen of Max waiting in the cool down room hands on the hips and Seb running around the paddock with his helmet still on to get there.

Max is FURIOUS. He shakes his head. He's asked to leave.

The Merc boys are utterly clueless. They're chatting very nicely with one another btw which is weird in itself. Max grabs his helmet and says a word as he's about to leave and then stops to explain the situation in the face of their confusion. 

It's insane. Seb is walking across the track absolutely engulfed in Ferrari personnel and journalists. HE'S UNDER THE PODIUM? Like with the spectators' crowd?! Jesus. The Merc boys are still in the cool down room waiting, still confused. 

Seb has made it in the crowd in the meantime he's now running along the stands. Arrivabene and Toto are laughing together. And there you go Seb makes it to the cool down room. Out of breath. Greeted by Nico's smile. He's still outraged as he explains to Nico what happened. 

Lewis says like he says everywhere that this is the best crowd. Seb says surely people understand why he got annoyed with the adrenaline pumping as well. He's calm and smiling now, for sure. He says he was very disappointed when he crossed the line and now he's on the podium. Finally Lewis says Nico is doing a good job getting the results he needs to stay ahead in the championship and he's grateful for the team's good job. 

But Ricciardo thinks Seb was moving under braking and that's why they had an issue at the end. He also thinks Lewis deserved a penalty for what happened at the start which is not completely wrong but like. Why are you throwing punches at him lol. You weren't gonna win dude. Anyway he says what Seb did was about what Max's has been getting heat for lately so he's just throwing everyone and their mother under the bus it seems. 

Apparently Seb also said on radio he was about to hit someone. Which meh. Not a great look tbh. (Checked the radio transcripts : "I mean honestly I think I’m going to hit someone" was the message but then he also said that he thought he had a puncture and you might argue it was about a collision but honestly I don't think it was and I don't think Seb denied it on that podium.) 

We're getting replays. The Max thing is pretty clear cut to the point I don't know why they waited to hand him the penalty. I think they just wanted to keep them fighting to the end for show honestly. Basically he went wide after his lockup and instead of using the tarmac to go right and get back on track he decided to go straight across the grass to the next corner and keep his advantage. Easy. 

The thing with Daniel is trickier I think because Seb also claimed Max brake tested him. Mmmh I guess I can see Daniel's point. He did move under braking. Di Resta argues Lewis' thing was different to Max's because there was no one side by side with him. (Also there was a safety car shortly after which meant that any advantage he might have gained was nullified anyway.) 

In his interview Max argues both Lewis and Nico went off and gained an advantage and nothing happened to them so he thinks it's ridiculous. He's asked whether he was backing Seb up into Daniel like Seb claimed and he says he wasn't, "I was just doing the best I can". When asked about the fact that Nico got no penalty for their contact, he shrugs. If Nico doesn't get a penalty then just don't give himself a penalty. OH MY GOD. OHHHH MY GOD. 

Wait I need a second. He's so cocky it's unbelievable, I'm having so much fun. 

The journalist says Daniel said Seb moved under braking which Max has been accused of a lot. "I think at least I can do it in a good way," he says. "He doesn't know how to do it. Because it's ridiculous what he did. I mean Daniel is alongside him and he just turned into him they touched, and then he starts shouting on the radio you know I don't know how many times he's using very bad language in general (bro the fact he's saying this now is so funny like he's polite himself please) so I think he has to go back to school or something to get some language."

I am DYING I swear this is hilarious. 

So now we're talking about stewards' consistency. 

Simon says they thought Seb was avoiding the media pen interviews but actually he went to the normal post race interview then straight to Charlie to apologise. We get a bit of the post race interview in which Seb is asked whether he could clarify what he called Max because it was censored. Seb chuckles and says no he won't answer. 

Oh ho. Yeah. Now we hear Seb might be in huge trouble, according to Ted, Jean Todt was watching and he's not happy. 

Seb has a cheeky smile in the media pen. He says he had reasons to be angry. He's happy about his race all in all. He's asked if he might get a disrepute charge. He says he went immediately to see him and he doesn't understand why they (the journalists) are making a fuss and asking this question. He says it wasn't the right thing to say for sure, but in his defence, emotions and adrenaline are pumping high (which might explain also why he so wholeheartedly defended Lewis that one time btw) "so I don't understand why you're trying to push me in a corner".

He says again out of respect he went to him, told him what he'd done and that's it. She asks what Charlie told him. "That's none of your business," he says with the same smile.

We move on to Daniel's griefs. Seb says Daniel also told him after the race he moved under braking. He says he wants to look at it again. He says he was fighting very hard. He shrugs a lot, makes faces that say "eh". He says he has to leave him enough room and he thinks he did. He says he knows Daniel in this regard sometimes… Dry chuckle. Is sometimes optimistic going for a gap. He then says Mark instead of Max which is objectively hilarious, saying he brake tested him (I didn't see that happen btw I don't know when he supposedly did that.) He says he was angry about Max not giving the place back etc. He's told Max wasn't told to give the place back, he just got that penalty after the race. He furrows his brows. He says he was told Max was told to give the place back. She says the team suggested it to him but the FIA penalty didn't come until after. He shrugs. "I don't know that, how can I know that? So." 

Oh god. Then it's Nico and he's asked a question but he's looking over the journalist's shoulder at a screen we can't see. "Aaahhh how did he get away with that?" he says exaggeratedly. He chuckles. "You're watching the start, you're watching Lewis go off the grass," the journalist says and as she asks if he thinks he should have gotten a penalty he hurriedly says "no no no". "Definitely not," he adds extremely seriously. "Please do not put words into my mouth, that was not– that was not very fair of you." (Wow they're all mad at the journalist that day lol) He says Lewis went into the corner first and out the corner first and that's okay. He calls the race quite eventful, Lewis was quicker so he deserved the win and second place was all he could do. She says he got a little bump from Max. "Little ?" he says again exaggeratedly, "It was a quite big thump and I thought might car would have been falling into bits so I'm quite pleased that my car held on." He says Max locked up and ran him off the road so obviously it was too much but he managed to stay in front. Bla bla the team is great etc. He still takes it one race at a time bla bla bla. 

Anyway, back to our subject. Lewis is now second on the list of drivers with most wins in F1. But if Nico wins in Brazil, it's over. Lewis gets there for his interview directly with Simon and Johnny rather than the media pen for some reason. He's again surrounded by a crowd of fans and he seems not to like it too much which is fully understandable given how intrusive they are being. 

Simon says he controlled that race from start to finish and Lewis says "from the grass to the finish yeah". They laugh. Simon asks if he's relieved it didn't go to the stewards seeing what happened to Max. He says he didn't even think about it, he was more concerned with his flatspot that was "rattling his brain" for 17 laps. He says he couldn't see the braking zones. The vibration was so hard he worried his suspension might fail.

Johnny says his performances in the last two races especially were great, like he's in a special place. He says it has gone really well and gets a bit of a shy smile.

He wished they all had gone as well as these two. But it's never too late, he says. History has shown it's never too late. He says he'll race with every ounce, every vessel, every bit of energy and heart that he has. 

They rewatch his start as he comments it. He says what's great is he didn't even have to push, he was pulling away easily, he had such good pace. Johnny says that's worrying for the others that there's more in the bag. Lewis smiles. He's so soft that day. He says definitely, if he had to push it would have been more and that's a real positive. 

Simon says after the US GP Lewis said he was worried the whole time about having another reliability issue. Lewis says it was the same here, everytime he touched a kerb, but more so the engine. He says the straight is so long you spend so long on the gas "you just hope the thing just keeps pulling". The engine was fantastic that weekend, the whole car, the team did an incredible job etc. 

Simon says if Nico wins in Brazil it's over for the championship and asks how much it factors in Lewis' game plan, also given that at this point Lewis has never won in Brazil. Simon says he's sure it's a good time to start. "It's a very good time to start," Lewis agrees. He says it's the plan and he's gonna give it everything he's got and as long as he knows he gave it everything he's got when he crosses the line in Abu Dhabi he'll be proud of his performance. 

Simon asks if he's aware of what happened between Seb and Max. He says he had some time to look at the screens on track as he went lol. He laughs. "It's kind of unusual but…" So he saw some things going on but he only got glimpses. Johnny says "I think all we can say is go and have a look, it was awesome!" Simon says Seb was "swearing like a dog". Lewis nods in a way that says "really? wow."

As soon as he turns around to leave all the fans gathered around flock to him. 

And well we don't hear about it in the broadcast but in the end Seb got a 10 sec time penalty for his move on Daniel and 2 penalty points on his licence, which means that the final race classification went Lewis, Nico, Daniel, Max, Seb, actually.

Sailor Moon Fillers

Now into the first few Official episodes of the Sailor Moon Stars, lets do a quick look back at the fillers that Sailor Moon 90s anime had, and how they stand up.

SAILOR MOON - RAINBOW CRYSTAL ARC

As we get further into the show, and as a way to introduce not only the Moon Stick but also Sailor Jupiter and, at the end, Sailor Venus, the Rainbow Crystal arc is very much a fetch quest that can easily be hand-waved off, but instead is one that a lot of those who saw the DiC and Cloverway original run remember fondly. After all, Luna had a whole episode of being with a cute, huge cat. Not to mention Zoicite and his/her evil ways and sad talks with Malachite/Kunzite.

Evil couple goals. Be ready to not only keep your person safe, but also play the long game to kill everyone in their name.

It's what they'd want.

The mild drama of Tuxedo Mask needing the crystals too, and fighting with both the Sailor Soldiers and the Dark Kingdom added to the drama until the final episode, where all was revealed. As far as filler arcs go, this is the one to use for how you do it. The stakes lead up to what we were going for anyway, allows the manga time to go further, and you can use this to introduce new permanent allies in a new way, expand on consequences from other events, and have it all be wrapped up by the end or lead into the next part. Even the 'reborn youma' characters were interesting, as only one returns multiple times, but also another ends up giving Ami someone besides Makoto to be cute with.

Also Luna gets a large cat boyfriend. That just makes it the best.

SAILOR MOON R - THE DOOM TREE ARC

With the ending of the original arc having all of them not recall their adventures together (and restart at the beginning of the series?), the Doom Tree acts as a way into reintroducing and getting Usagi to start to grow as a leader and a Sailor Soldier. While each Sailor Soldier also gets a power-up attack that is Never Used Again, considering the one-off uses in the manga, that isn't a surprise. Overall, while it's forgotten quickly before Chibiusa arrives, it's a decent segue-way to the main story, and adds to Usagi's growth.

Honestly I also love how she gets her Moon Rod in this series too against the Manga. Her care and growing understanding of her duty and acceptance of that, as well as her love of her friends and wish to be able to fight alongside them, but also protect them. As such, the "created via the power of love" comes AFTER Usagi and Mamoru have gone through a ringer or two, and realized that yes, they wish to fight alongside each other and win over the other, in Sailor Moon S.

The main downside of this whole thing is the two baddies, Ail and An, and the Moonlight Knight saga. While I do love Ail and An in a way, similar to Fiore their possessiveness over the ones they love or care for and the dangerous things they do, especially when plants are involved, would've been nice if it didn't end in such a rush.

SAILOR MOON SAILOR STARS - NEHALENNIA ARC

Ah, the Moonlight Knight of fillers. In which the writers realize they hadn't added in our favorite lesbian couple and their aromatic life partner and the daughter they all raised.

Because Ikuharu let her dad live and had Pluto disappear into the aether. So now we need to actually kill our main big bad.

We mean reform. After she goes full evil. She needs to be reformed after admitting to deciding to go down the PG version of the Countess who drained girls of their blood so she could remain young.

But also we're getting the Outer and Inner Soldiers to work together! We can have Chibiusa and Hotaru fight alongside and to battle against the main evil who is *checks notes* going after Mamoru.

Compared to the messy but still semi-decent manga and Crystal version, or even just her version in the original Super S, this arc does little beyond giving Usagi a power-up and including the others who love and go to tell off Nehalennia for being mean to their princess. Even when it comes to character development, or even having the Inners look up to the Outers in their own ways, it does little to really work on it, and is even more of a one-off for their work together than the earlier filler arcs. If they'd added in that the 'healed' bad guys (the Four Sisters and the Quartet) were in danger and had Chibiusa awaken the Quartet and have them fight the baddies, allowing Sailor Moon and the others to arrive, Sailor Moon to become Eternal Sailor Moon and the others gain their own Eternal forms, before Chibiusa goes to the future with the knowledge she'll have friends and others to help her against the enemies to arrive, that would be much better than "Well, we read that one Hans Christian Anderson book and thought it'd be neat."

She's perfectly fine just being called "Aurora" but she introduces herself as "Aurora Carries the Sky" first.

Appearance.

HEIGHT: Somewhere between 5'5 and 5'6.

BUILD: She's very fit. Muscular. Something of a runner's or high jumper's build.

HAIR: Dark brown with lighter brown/golden highlights. She used to wear it short (no longer than to her shoulders), but has recently grown it out long. It's thick, wavy, and messy with many small braids.

SKIN: Olive

EYES: Brown with gold flecks.

MOUTH: Her lips are neither super full nor thin. There's a slight downturn to the corners that might make her neutral expression seem like she's overly serious, agitated, or deep in thought.

NOSE: Aquiline. A bit prominent with a curved bridge. She does not feel remotely self conscious about her nose; she actually rather likes it.

HANDS: Her hands would look rather elegant if they were pampered at all. Her fingers are long and slender, but it's obvious she's spent a great deal of time outdoors and no time at all manicuring her short fingernails.

SCARS: Aurora has a small, -almost- imperceptible scar on the left corner of her mouth and across her left eyebrow. There are a few scars on her upper arms and another across her collarbone.

CLOTHES: Nothing fancy. Mostly linen or cotton, fabrics that breathe and feel comfortable. She tends towards black, white, and soft browns but there's usually a small splash of color somewhere (a scarf, a belt, fabric braided into her hair, etc...) that keeps her from looking too drab. Notably, she does have a fondness for more expensive, fancy clothes- but her lifestyle keeps her from purchasing and wearing anything too nice for fear of getting it torn up. If she has nice things it's important to her to protect and care for them.

She doesn't wear many high collars if she can avoid it because she hates the feel of them on her neck. She also prefers short sleeves or no sleeves at all because she's very proud of her arms and likes the opportunity to show them off.

Speech.

ACCENT: Her native language is Rivertongue. I imagine she has a noticeable accent when she speaks in other languages. I'm not sure how that accent would sound though...

VERBAL TICKS: She starts and restarts sentences multiple times when she's flustered or frustrated. It's not so much a stutter as her speaking faster than she's thinking and needing to start over once her brain catches up with her mouth. She often uses "Ok" as a punctuation mark to start a new topic. "Ok. What we need to do is get the--- no. Ok. We need to visit the--. No. No! Ok! I got it. Here's the plan. We are going to blah blah blah..."

LANGUAGE: River, High Realm, and Old Realm.

ARTICULATION: If she gets too lost in her head she is very clumsy with her speech. There are many false starts, she speaks too quickly, she leaves out important information, she trips over her tongue, etc... That said, when she feels confident about her message or she recognizes someone else -needs- her confidence, she can become surprisingly well-spoken.

EDUCATION: This is something of a sore spot for her. She had the privilege of a very good education and did not have the patience for it when she was younger. She did not pay attention to it and didn't much think it mattered. Now that she's older she wishes she'd tried harder.

LAUGHTER: Infectious. She laughs easily and openly. She isn't demure, shy, or terribly quiet about it. Unfortunately, there have definitely been times she should not have laughed at something and could not stop herself. "Obnoxious" might be a good descriptor of her laughter in those cases.

GRUMP: Hahaha! I just like the word "Grump." Anyway, when she's grumpy she sighs through her nose. A lot.

Mannerisms.

FACE: Aurora's face is ridiculously expressive. Though her neutral expression might have some RBF going on, if she's actively engaged in something her face very clearly gives away what she's thinking and how she feels. When she's angry, her expression visibly darkens. Happy? Her grin lights up her face. Sad? Her eyes are already glistening with tears before -she- even knows how sad she is. She doesn't have a good poker face at all.

HANDS: Though her face is very expressive and very active, she is very much in control of her body. She does use her hands when she gets excited telling a story, but if she is asked not to, it is very easy for her to keep her hands to her side. She doesn't tap nervously on tables or fidget too much. She keeps her hands at rest, folded on her lap or on armrests or by her sides.

LEGS/FEET: Likewise, she doesn't tap her feet or have restless legs. She doesn't frequently shift her weight when standing. In fact, she has exceedingly good posture and physical control. It's emotional control she struggles with.

EMOTIONAL OUTBURSTS: Aurora is usually laid-back and just looking to have a nice time. This might make someone assume she's incapable of being serious. And that's really just not true at all. She's extremely capable of being serious when it's called for. And, if pushed once she's elected to be serious, it's very easy to push her buttons and move her straight from serious to absolutely pissed off. Or to despair. Or... Really anything. She is easy to emotionally manipulate and it is not difficult to read her emotions.

POSTURE: Her posture is ridiculously good. Perhaps a little rigid at times, but extremely practiced. Her great posture has confused people into thinking she is a few inches taller than she is at times. Even when she's "at ease" and lounging, there's something about the way she does it that seems somehow less slouched than someone else sitting the same way.

WALKING POSTURE: She doesn't march everywhere. That'd be stupid. But even her casual walk, with her chin up, shoulders back, and back straight make it so very easy to identify her as someone who has had military training.

PERSONAL SPACE: She likes being close to others. She accidentally invades personal spaces because her own personal bubble is so small as to be almost non-existent. She clasps other people's shoulders and hands. She squeezes arms. She is quick to hug them. Just as quick to lift them off their feet if they let her. She warmly kisses cheeks in greeting if allowed. She will also do NONE of that if it makes someone uncomfortable.

Health:

DIET: Aurora LOVES to eat, though admittedly she will often forget to if she's focusing on something else. She has a strong preference for spicy foods, particularly heavily spiced soups and stews. She is not bad at camp cooking and is skilled at fishing. She takes pride in her ability to make robust, tasty meals with relatively few ingredients.

She has a weakness for sweet breads and pastries and always beelines towards bakeries in any new city she finds herself in.

SLEEP: She also LOVES sleep. And rarely gets enough of it. Like eating, she'll just forego sleep if something important needs to get done.

The exception is when she gets to stay in inns. If given the chance, she'd do almost nothing BUT sleep when given a nice, clean, comfortable bed.

EXERCISE: Yes. Yes, yes, very yes. She does this for fun. It's not for discipline, even if she says it is, it's because she just genuinely enjoys it. Disgusting.

ACTIVITY: Very active. Always looking for ways to be MORE active.

CLEANLINESS: She is as clean as she can be and very self-conscious about it! She spends so much of her time being active and sweating outdoors that she's certain she must smell terrible. She doesn't actually smell nearly as bad as she imagines she must.

ODOUR: She smells like soap or sweat, probably. While she might wear a little perfume if going somewhere nice, she typically doesn't. It feels very odd to her to put perfume on to hike, explore nature, or train. But she does try to bathe as often as she can and she collects different kinds of soaps to carry with her so she can feel like she's really living a life of luxury as she, once again, has a cold outdoor bath.

RECREATIONAL DRUGS: Sure. She's not opposed! I don't think she seeks them out, but it's not because she has any problem with them.

ADDICTIONS: Nah. I don't think so atm.

INJURIES: Every now and then the long scar on her collarbone feels sore again and irritates her.

OPTIMIST/PESSIMIST: She is trying to be more optimistic these days-- but it's still a bit of an act. Because things -have- to get better and she -has- to play a part in that, she won't allow herself to consider any alternative. If she does, she'll get disheartened, and when she's disheartened she becomes pessimistic.

GENDER: It isn't anything she really thinks about, actually. I suppose she thinks of herself as female, but I don't think her gender is all that important to her.

SEXUALITY: Bisexual. People are so attractive in so many different ways; why limit herself?

ROMANTIC: She fantasizes about big, grand, romantic scenarios but she doesn't have any experience with that reality. Life hasn't given her much of an opportunity for romance so far and she wouldn't have a clue what to do if it did, but she's definitely the romantic sort in theory!

MEMORY: She doesn't have a great memory for finer details. She's great at remembering the general shape of things, but struggles with trivia/lists of facts.

PLANNING: Aurora takes planning seriously... To a point. Like her memory, she is good at planning in broad strokes but not at nailing down every detail. In fact, she prefers not to go over every detail because (proving her optimism is an act she's putting on) she assumes something will always go wrong. If she doesn't leave room in her plans for the inevitable failure then everything will go to shit. Instead, there's got to be room to improvise. There's no sense getting attached to all the details because it could lead to inflexibility when (not if) the plan falls apart.

PROBLEM SOLVING: She's quick to identify problems and quick to try to solve them. She's absolutely a woman of action. Does that mean her solutions to problems are the best ways to solve them? Absolutely fucking not.

GOALS:

+ She needs to do something major, something indisputably GOOD, that makes a meaningful difference in the world and she has to do it with the name "Aurora Carries the Sky". This is how she'll carry on Sky's legacy. This is how she'll keep him alive.

+ She needs to make many powerful allies. Ideally, they'll continue making huge, positive changes in the world, of course, but her ultimate reason for this is because she intends to build an army strong enough to take back Thorns from the Mask of Winters.

+ She needs to find the man who killed Unbroken Sky and murder him. Making the world a better place is a gift for Sky. Getting revenge? That's for herself.

INSECURITIES:

She has no idea why the Unconquered Sun chose her or why Sky believed in her. She looks back on her life and all she sees is failure. She failed to protect everything she loved and all she thinks she's ever succeeded at is running from one mistake right into another one. She worries she's not strong enough or smart enough to see any of her goals through and, in the course of trying, that she'll be unable to protect the people she cares about. The only thing that keeps her going despite her nearly crippling insecurities is just the realization that she CAN'T stop. There's too much to be done. She can't waste the gifts she's been given even if it feels like they were given to the wrong person.

ACHIEVEMENTS: [Anything they're proud of?]

She has helped a great number of people since becoming Exalted. So far it hasn't been a grand, world changing kind of help that she can say, "That's it! That's my gift to Sky!" but she's wise enough to know that to every individual whose life has been positively changed in some way by her presence that it -feels- to them like a grand, world changing good. And that feels like an achievement.

The Past.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS: [Did they have a good relationship with their parents while they were growing up?]

So so. She was something of a disappointment to her parents. Her family was fairly well known for being skilled poets, musicians, and scholars. She didn't excel at any of the above pursuits. And the more she was pushed to find her "calling" by her parents the more opportunities she had to disappoint them by not finding it. Despite this tension, there was no lack of love in the family and Aurora was very fond of them. If she wasn't, she wouldn't have tried so hard to please them. And later she never would have volunteered to join the military when they suggested it to her.

SCHOOL: [Did they do well at school, or did they struggle?]

Oh, it was a struggle. She didn't enjoy school. She was an average student but being "average" felt like another failure.

FURTHER EDUCATION: [Did they go to college? University? What did they study, and how well did they do?]

She did not seek out further education having written that off as another thing just not meant for her. Instead, she joined the military.

WORST DAY OF THEIR LIFE:

Learning her hometown, with her family inside it, had become a Shadowland, for sure.

BEST DAY OF THEIR LIFE:

One evening after saving a caravan from attacking bandits with Sky and members of his entourage. She'd held her own. No innocent people were lost or hurt. There was a celebration with music, dancing, story telling and drinks. She stayed up late and Sky has stayed up with her. He told her that it was moments like that that he lived for and that he hoped one day he could do something so spectacular that it'd change a million more lives for the better. He was proud of his fighting skills, sure, but he wanted his legacy to be using them for something indisputably -good- and, better yet, he wanted her to be there for it. He was certain that with her by his side it was something that could be accomplished. And she believed it, too. It felt right. For the first time she felt she could and -would- accomplish something.

And she still believes that. And she'll still do that. With him. Even if just in spirit.

LESSONS: [What are the most important things they have learned through experience?]

+ Small victories are just as important as the big ones. It's the small ones that make big ones possible. If she can convince enough small groups of people that every good deed they do makes a -world- of difference to the people it helps, maybe she can one day gather many, many small groups of activists to do something monumentally good.

+ She can't waste time doubting herself. It's not useful. It doesn't help. She'd rather pretend she's confident and that she has no concerns because she's seen how horrible and useless she becomes when she doubts herself. She can feel insecure later AFTER she's accomplished her goals. There's no time for it right now.

Relationships.

FAMILY:

Aurora Averla grew up as a middle child. She had a mother, a father, an older sister, a twin brother, and a younger sister. She loved all of them but she was closest to her twin brother. She butt heads the most with her older sister and her mother.

FRIENDSHIPS: [Do they have lots of friends, or just one or two close friends?]

She tends to make all sorts of friendly acquaintances but isn't usually in one area long enough to make many long term friendships. She hopes to change that.

ANNOYANCES: [How do they deal with arguments and disagreements with friends or partner?]

Usually with fairly good humor. If it gets bad enough she has a temper tantrum she later regrets and then runs off to brood on her own.

ROMANCE: [If applicable: how do they woo a potential partner? What do they look for in a potential partner?]

Aurora is not quick to fall for someone. She enjoys fantasizing about "what if" situations, but she takes none of it seriously. It's really a long, slow burn with her: evening heart to hearts, daydreaming together, building connections through shared dreams and a looooong period of time flirting. She's much faster to bed someone. That takes no time at all if there's an immediate spark or curiosity. But romantic love? Partnership? Anyone in a hurry is going to want to just keep looking. She doesn't especially -want- to fall in love. She's really got no time for it. And she thinks it's probably if both parties just agree there's no sense in getting caught up in anything too serious. It's easier that way. Safer.

But when she -does- fall in love it's desperately. And the more she tries to deny it the harder she falls.

She's openly affectionate, loyal, protective, and all about romantic gestures (both small and grand). Knowing she's done something to make her partner's day even slightly better gives her a high that can last an entire day.

She -doesn't- look for potential partners. But if we set that aside and pretend that she does and that she has a shopping list it'd be:

That'd be Forgotten Sun's brother and absolutely anyone that participated in the downfall of her hometown. In desperate bouts of horrible depression she includes herself on that list.

I'm thinking that a current check-in would be a good way to start the blog off. A baseline for comparison for the future. My goals are all in the categories of health and wellness, academics, self care, and home. I count spirituality inside of self care. I'll rate them on a scale of 1 - 10:

I have been studying/working on academic assignments which is good. I've made a lot of improvement this category over the course of around a year. I still have a long way to go -- I need to be excellent, not just good or passing. I am in a very competitive major. I haven't picked out the uni's for transfer yet -- that's super important. I need to study for a specific major exam, and email a specific advisor asap. Self Care: 2

I'm social 2x a week every week, but I do want to add in 1-2 more days for certain people so I can chat with them on the regular. I have all but dropped spirituality, though I'm always listening to podcasts and YouTube videos on it to learn more. My interest is still very much there. My creative hobbies have also been dropped -- I want to restart and try new stuff. I have been doing gratitude journaling on and off, more off than on lately. I need to start doing weekly reflections, as I know they're important but again still skipping them as of now. I want to practice mediation and pray (NOT RELIGIOUS!!) more often.

It's my job to clean the home and I haven't been doing that so it's unpleasantly dirty and I feel bad. So is my room, that's even more messy. I need to take better care of my plants, my pets, and my relationship with my family.

I got into dance when my mom and grandma took me to see the Nutcracker at age three (a very classic story honestly) - I don't remember anything about the show itself but I remember standing in the lobby getting a Clara Christmas ornament from the gift shop and proclaiming I was going to be Clara someday

(I still haven't been Clara but I was the sugar plum fairy in my senior year of high school, which is also a partial answer to the question of my favorite performances)

I don't know if I have a favorite style? Ballet was my first love and getting on pointe is one of my proudest achievements, but jazz and contemporary were both hugely important to me growing up just in how I learned to be a person (long story but I had a good teacher and the styles really emphasize a kind of freedom to make mistakes that was really healthy for my very messed up childhood brain)

Honestly I'm always chasing any dance forms from the African diaspora, it's kind of a special interest of mine - I've done a variety of actually African dances, as well as jazz and tap and hip-hop (I love it and I'm bad at it oh my god never ask me to show you my hip-hop skills) and Afro-Brazilian and probably some others given what I got up to in college was mostly "take every style you can" - the history of these dance styles and the places where they share similarities is super fascinating to me and underappreciated in the dance world at large even though the Africanist aesthetic is present in every American dance form as well as forms around the world

(I spent one year learning about this stuff and now I don't shut up about it - anyway Brenda Dixon Gottschild is The author to read for info on that, I can't really do it justice at this stage in my education) (also gonna say everyone who's interested in the intersection of dance and race should look into Donald Byrd's work because it's his fault I'm Like This)

My fondest dance memories are the messy ones - the time we rehearsed our pointe piece my junior year of high school in front of parents and other dancers, only for me to fall down doing a piqué arabesque directly towards the audience, and then I got up so quickly even my teacher had no idea it happened; sugar plum dress rehearsal where my leotard strap broke and the only thing keeping me from a nip slip in front of my classmates was a nude leotard, and I being a weirdo dancer finished the whole thing before dealing with it; the time the music stopped halfway through our selections from Giselle and so we finished the whole piece by dancing first in silence and then to the music that was two minutes behind us when it restarted (also the only time I danced the part I was understudy for in that piece. Sigh)

Hello dear reader!

I'm so glad you're enjoying the fic and are super invested in it all! I actually did consider having Zoro do something awful like cheat on you or something, but (even for the sake of moving the story forward) I don't think he'd do that. Let me explain more below the cut (and show you why it's still just as tragic)

TL;DR: Zoro and the reader do love each other, but show it in very different ways, and they were doomed from the start because of it.

I think Zoro does care about and loves the reader in his own way, but Zoro doesn't show it in the same way other people on the crew do, especially you. Just because he cares about you doesn't mean he's going to alter his day to be with you more often, and in his mind, training (so he can protect you and the other people he cares about on the crew) is the most important thing. He's selfish, and he doesn't care about large romantic gestures. He doesn't remember important events like birthdays or anniversaries or even what day it is in general.

He's the kind of person who likes you around when he needs you around - which we see at the beginning of the story when he's playful in bed. But after his morning shower, his mindset shifts to training, and he doesn't need you around anymore because you'll just distract him. He's not the kind to spare feelings or tell you unnecessary words of affirmation. He gets to the point because that's what he understands, especially when he's upset.

And then we have the reader, who is someone that loves quality time, and wants to spend time together with not just Zoro but everyone on the ship. They love loudly and they want to be loved the same, which is something that Zoro has never had the capacity to understand or appreciate. This has resulted in months of arguments; most days looking like the one I had written.

The day written wasn't any different than most island days, expect for the date. The island you all landed on marked 6 months of you all dating, and Zoro never commented on it, he didn't want to be around you, he broke his promise and his compromise made with you, and he purposely avoided the one thing you guys do on a normal day (watching the sunset). He was angry with you and purposely avoided it all out of spite. He was itching for a screaming match because normally those types of fights end with you begging for forgiveness and you tiptoeing around him for the next few days because you don't want to lose him, and thats what he expected. But today was the day you gave up fighting, because of how hurt you were over the 6 months being forgotten by him. It was the straw that broke the camels back.

Sometimes people love each other deeply, but they simply aren't compatible. Such is the case with the reader and Zoro (which we can see from your POV and Zoro's argument with Sanji). That doesn't nullify the love that still remains between you two, in fact it makes it all the more painful. It's the reason I added a very small line into Dance for Two, actually.

"You wanted to run away, restart the day, or just go back to when you and Zoro first broke up and beg for his forgiveness."

It's a line that most people probably miss or doesn't mean anything to them. But the reader is used to this to portray just how messy their relationship is with Zoro. They're used to screaming and fighting, just to make up the next. This is the way their relationship has always been, so it must be normal.

You know how you're in a dimly lit room and you can almost see everything then a bright light blinds you? But when your eyes adjust, you realize you've been missing out on so many details and colors while you were sitting in the dark. It's a whole new world now, something you didn't know was possible.

I imagine Sanji is that light for the reader, and now that you've learned that there are people who will sacrifice for you rather than give you an occasional compromise, it's impossible to go back to the way it was before.

I must admit, I know this is not as enthralling as catching him cheating or having some other big thing happen that is earth-shattering for the reader. I don't think Zoro is a bad person, after all. He's just bad for you.
