February 2019

The short quick spin of February served us well... plenty of good exercise and time outside, and plenty of good food, and people.  And wouldnt you know!?  I can tighten down and focus on health and still live adventurous story telling days!  

One new feature of this month was starting on my new “hobby” for 2019 - learning to make our own Sushi.  We had two different sushi parties, one a practice for the second when Dad was here.   We got fairly good at it - and it makes a feast and the leftovers are amazing!   Now we will look to take it to the next level!

My one travel ramble for this month took me to the Southeast and to Jacksonville FL, but the art of tacking one on, found me for 3 great days on my own on the Cumberland Island National Seashore, and I loved it.  I came home committed to finding all the other awesome NPS units aronud the country that I was missing out on.  Those three days alongside the Atlantic were by far the best days of the month.   It felt great to get under that full pack again and crank it up on a bit of an adventure.  

Dad stayed with us a week and while he was here we enhanced our back yard with a grill, fire pit and bird feeder fulfilling  an intention to spend more time outside...even at home!  As Arizona starts to warm up again, we’ll enjoy the expanse of that backyard as if it were our living room, and look forward to so many great nights out under the stars.    Speaking of the weather though, Springs not quite here yet!   One weekend we received a pretty spectacular snow storm here in the desert....  never expected to see Michigan and Denver like sights here!  The mountains all around us were incredible and there was enough snow to where some was still hanging on up there on Mt Lemmon as we rolled into March.  Wild.

But behind everything - the birthdays, books, superbowls, beemers, and dates with my beautiful bride - was my work to cut the weight.   My challenge to lose 100lbs in 2019 finds me 25% of the way there as we head into a new and important month.   I wasnt 100% effective with the 28 days, but I kept going - I persisted.  And thats what it will take in months like these.  I made mostly good choices, and have good momentum that I can carry into the next month, asking if I can lose 15 more?  Calling that one forward with some vim for March Madness.
