yesterday I was scrolling Grommr and saw a post from a 21 year old guy demanding “complete submission, complete control and complete obedience” followed by the sentence “I do not contribute financially to your gain because I don’t have a lot of money, deal with it!!!!” and I can’t stop thinking about the audacity required to demand those things from anyone, let alone a feedee, with zero financial contribution. fucking the text man for texts has gotten out of control

Maybe I should write like, one messy Silco x Vander fic, absolutely dysfunctional dynamics and all that, get it out of my system, then come back to myself and try and actually do my work

Writing tip #1 :
Replace "perfect" with "enjoyable". If you can enjoy reading your own story, then you have achieved the primary purpose of the "perfect" story.

I want to publish my poetry in a litereary journal, but I'm being asked to pay $25 just to submit with no guarantee that my work will get picked. Is this normal? And is it worth it?
There is no shortage of predatory publishers, journals, and competitors who are ready to divest a writer of their hard-earned money.
While not all submission fees are scams, you do want to make sure you do your due diligence and research on the publication before you commit your money to the cause.
In the Reading Room today, we talk all about submission fees, what's reasonable, what you can expect, and what constitutes a red flag.
