I am currently in Florida with my family and Josh, along with our son y/s/n, who is now 3 years old.

The boys decided to bring y/s/n on the ice today so they could teach him how to play hockey, especially since Matthew Only had a game tonight. 

I am also 5 Months pregnant, thankfully my bump wasn’t big yet so I could still hide it. Josh and I wanted to keep this baby a secret especially since my family was really protective when I was pregnant with Y/s/n. I was wearing some biker shorts with a baby shirt today.

Emma, Taryn, my mom and I are sitting in the stands watching the boys teach Y/s/n how to play. Y/s/n loves watching his dad and uncle play so I have a feeling he’s going to make it far with hockey.

The girls and I are talking about pretty much everything. My mom tells stories of how it was when she watched my dad first teach Matthew and Brady.

“It’s adorable isn’t it, watching Josh teach him how to play?” My mom asked me, smiling.

The biggest smile made its way on my face.

“Yeah, and he loves it, he’s excited to teach this little one too” I said without thinking and putting my hand on my bump. The girls gasped.

“What?” Taryn asked, surprised.

My eyes widened

Crap I wasn’t supposed to tell them.

“You’re pregnant?” my mom asked with teary eyes.

 “I wasn’t supposed to tell you” I said

“Why not?” Emma asked smiling.

“Josh and I wanted to surprise everyone after the baby was born, which I know was going to be hard especially with you and brady being in ottawa, but everyone was so overprotective last time it was driving me crazy and I didn’t want to go through that again” I said softly.

“Oh, sweetie they care and love you so much, i know it sucks when they don’t want you to do anything, but they just want you and the baby to be safe” My mom said.

“I also can’t keep this from Brady, he’ll know… I can’t lie” Emma said making us laugh.

We made it to the suite, I had a feeling Emma already told Brady and that my mom had already told my dad since they kept looking at me every few minutes.

The first period had started when I started to get hungry, I started getting up from my seat when Brady looked to see what I was doing.

When he notice I was getting up, he got up instead.

“Sit down, what do you want? I’ll get it for you” He said. I sighed and sat back down to look at Josh, who was already looking at me confused.

“You told him?” Josh asked

I shook my head.

“I let it slip by accident this morning when I was with the girls sorry” I told Josh sadly.

Josh smiled.

“Babe it’s fine, I almost let it slip a few times.” He said 

“I can’t believe you guys were going to keep this a secret.” Brady said.

“Brady I love you, but you are way too overprotective” I said.

“I’m sorry I just want to make sure you are being safe.” He said softly

“I know, I love you, but if I ever need anything you know I'll ask. I’m only 5 months pregnant, I can still move” I said getting up, sending him a smile.

“Promise?” 

“Yes I promise, now sit back down and watch Matty while I go get myself some food” 

He sighed before he sat back down.

“Fine” he said 

I smiled at this. Hopefully it stays this way but I know the closer I’ll get to the end of the pregnancy he’ll get overprotective again, they’re lucky I love them.

it can’t happen

Nick Suzuki knocked on her front door, Brinley stood up from the couch wrapping her cardigan tighter around her as she walked to the front door and opened the door seeing one of her best friends she smiled moving to the side letting him in.

Nick headed to the living room setting the takeout and wine on the coffee table as Brinley walked into the kitchen grabbing two wine glasses and walked back to the living room, she sat down on the couch next to Nick grabbing the fluffy blanket throwing it over both of them.

Brinely started opening the wine as Nick took out all the takeout boxes, Brinely poured both of them a large class of wine before getting her chopsticks and starting to eat some of the takeout.

The two have started this tradition a few years ago to just unwind and have a cheat meal and some wine, sometimes they end up gossiping the whole or watching a show but it is always very relaxing for the two to spend time together, and when Nick’s girlfriend Catherine is free she always comes too making the night even better.

The two finished eating the food eventually and was sitting in peaceful silence drinking their wine.

“You do know Cole has feelings for you right.” Nick suddenly asked out of nowhere.

Brinely choked on her wine coughing, “Jeez Nicky warn a girl would you?” Brinely coughed again catching her breath, Nick snickered slighty, “What do you mean has feelings.” Brinely looked over at Nick in pure puzzlement.

“You don’t know?” Nick looked at her shocked, Cole was obviously the whole team knew of his little crush within a few days and it didn’t help he loved to follow her around like a puppy and looked up at her with stars in his eyes.

“He doesn’t have feelings for me Nicky.” Brinely scoffed knowing there is no way Cole has feelings for her, “Besides i’m his Captain now i’m supposed to be guiding him, mentoring him not thinking if he might have feelings for me.”

Nick raised an eyebrow, “So you have no feelings for him?” Nick had a good feeling the two would be more in the future.

“He’s young Nick. He needs a friend.” Brinely sternly spoke not noticing she never answered the question but Nick did, he decided to let it go with a nod but would remember that for later.

yourusername welcome back to my postgame penalty box update show: the brady bunch edition!

the boys won 5-2 tonight! and by "the boys" i do not mean brady and josh, because those two are heckin LOSERS! (jk kinda) (i love you both!) (you did lose though to be fair) (mwah!)

with this win, the canucks now have 10 wins in 13 games, which is the fastest the canucks have ever reached 10 wins! we love making history around here, folks!

quinn is at three games since his last penalty and i’m so proud! he's growing (emotionally, not physically)! you know who DID get a penalty? somehow, not brady, who's in the top 5 in the league for most penalty minutes. the man that did crime tonight was your favorite and my "tolerable at best" acquaintance: argus filch's cat, mrs. norris! a.k.a josh!

the three besties were aggressive with each other this game, and i was honestly disappointed that quinn and brady didn't throw hands. he won't fight my rat, but i was hoping he'd tussle with his bf!

brady didn't let me down though! he shoved quinn down in front of the net for zero reason at all <3 and josh and quinny drove each other into the boards (quinn got smushed) and exchanged some shoves! i’ll take what i can get, and i loved it!

way to go, besties! great game! i love you, bradley! i love you way past infinity, quinny! i like you okay, mrs. norris!

The first time you met Quinn Hughes, you cried. No, literally — the moment you were introduced to the brunette was also the moment that some random person at the party you were at decided to throw his drink on the floor, where it was shattered into a million little pieces, some of which had ended up in your leg. Suffice to say, Quinn saw probably a lot more than he thought he would that night — including what you looked like when you were in pain.

Quinn hadn’t even hesitated when he realized ditched his friends and drove you to the Emergency Room, and he hadn’t left when he saw what a mess you thought you were, as he ended up staying with you until the early morning. He stayed cramped up in the seat next to your bed, soft breaths evening out until 7AM, where he all but had to run out in order to make it on time to his morning skate.

From there, your meetings were a bit serendipitous; only happening at the points in your life in which you least expected it. Since the entire debacle at the bar, the two of you had remained friends; it was hard not to, when, over the course of too many “accidental” meetings at different events, the two of you had realized that you were friends with a pair of siblings who, even in their obviousness, were trying to set the two of you up together. 

While he was friends with the older Norris, while you were friends with the younger (and less annoying, according to her,) sibling —  so when you found yourself living in Vancouver to finish up the rest of your graduate degree, both she and Josh had one thing in mind — getting Quinn a girlfriend. And who else would be perfect for their longtime family friend than the person they trusted most? 

So, it was decided — before you or Quinn even knew, the two of you were being set up from across the country, while both Norris siblings stayed near Ottawa, they planned to have both yu and Quinn seemingly meet by chance — even going as far as to set the two of you up on a blind date. 

By the time the two of you caught on to what was happening, however, neither of you could even sum up any anger; instead, the crushes the both of you harbored on each other were much too obvious to ignore the fact that you had fallen in love over the span of six months of “chance” encounters put together by meddling siblings who only wanted the best for each of you. 

Unbeknownst to them, however, both you and Quinn — despite being aware of the fact that you had a crush on the other — were still on the fence of starting a relationship. On your end, you didn’t want to pressure Quinn into a relationship where he’d get bored of you, and you didn’t want a repeat of the last time you had dated a hockey player, in which you were left in the dust, and in which your relationship always consisted of you putting in more effort than he did. On Quinn’s end, however, it was different — he didn’t want you to get hurt in case he disappointed you; he didn’t want you to feel neglected when he couldn’t be the version of his that you were thinking of in your head, and he also didn’t think you had liked him in the first place. 

It wouldn’t be until a few weeks later, however, when these feelings came to an abrupt halt. It was the middle of the week, and while the two of you were still in Vancouver — you finishing up your thesis and Quinn finishing up some promotional shots for Bauer, you found yourselves reaching out to the other for dinner. Of course it was as friends, but you both spent more time at Quinn’s apartment than you did on your own, so it wasn’t out of the blue to show up with a pizza box, and even an overnight bag. 

As you both practically devoured the food you brought, the subject at hand changed to your upcoming plans. Quinn had been asked to be a groomsman at the Tkachuk wedding, and before you knew it, he was asking you if you’d want to go, too. 

“Your last class ends the first week of July! And besides, I’ll take care of everything! I know my brother’s would love to meet you, and you know Brady by now,” he reasoned. And, to be fair, he had a point. You had met his brothers over FaceTime a few times, and had even said hello to them during one of Quinn’s home games briefly; but being his date? His official date? 

Almost as if he could tell you were on the fence about the topic, he quickly tried his best to put your anxiety at ease. “It doesn’t have to be official or anything, but I’d really like you to meet my friends. As more than just a friend, if you’d like that,” he said quietly, looking at you with a hopeful look. The thing you had come to learn about Quinn was that, even if his face didn’t change that much, his eyes told you everything you needed to know about how he was feeling — and right now, he looked hopeful; like he wanted you with him, as more than just a friend. He wanted you to be his date, and introduce you to people he cared about. 

Before you could see the hope turn into sadness in his eyes, you sat up straighter on the couch and looked straight at him. “I would love to, Quinn,” you whispered, before you reached out your right hand, and Quinn, picking up on the action automatically, entwined his fingers with your own. Now he smiled, his eyes not leaving yours as he picked up your hands and put a kiss to the back of your hand. 

“Good. Good, yeah,” he said, his face hunting at a small smile reserved only for you. “I’ll take care of everything, you just gotta show up and look as beautiful as you always do, ay,” he said. You could only blush, laughing quietly as he tried flirting with you. “Wow, Mr. Smoothtalker. First you ask me to be your date, and now you’re trying to butter me up? You’re a real flirt, huh?” you asked with mock sarcasm. He only laughed and winked, as the two of you turned back to the film you had forgotten about, your hand still firmly in his. 

It wasn’t until a few weeks later, the night before the two of you were scheduled to fly out to meet the rest of Quinn’s fellow groomsmen and join the family for the wedding’s rehearsal, that you stayed over at his place. Quinn had picked up dinner this time, and as you arrived at his apartment carrying your suitcase with you, he met you by the door. 

“Hi, sweetheart,” he whispered to you as you closed the door. While the two of you were sure in your relationship, you were also still a fresh couple, and so Quinn hesitated kissing you right off the bat. Making the decision for him, though, you grabbed his nape, and brought his lips down to meet yours. “Hi, handsome,” you said back.

Quinn smiled at you, before his eyes lit up a bit. “I have a surprise for you, pretty girl. And I think you’ll like it,” he said. It wasn’t that you hated surprises, but you were concerned about how much Quinn had already spent on the trip, and even more that you saw he had rented a hotel room for the two of you. 

As he led you to his bedroom, he handed you a blindfold, which was really just one of his ties. “Getting kinky here, aren’t we, Mr. Hughe? Is the surprise that you’re gonna tie me up and finally bend me over your bed?” you whispered. And wow, where the hell had that confidence come from? 

Quinn laughed as you mouthed off. “No, but it can be part two if you’re good,” he said, the hand holding yours traveling up your forearm and up until it was cupping your jaw, where you then felt Quinn’s lips ghost against your own. If the tie hadn’t been covering your eyes, you’re sure you would have jumped his bones right then and there. 

As he continued leading you into his bedroom, you heard the rustle of some type of plastic, and before you knew it, your blindfold was being untied, and you were face-to-face with a gorgeous gown the color of lavender, which then melted into a darker purple in certain parts. It was beautiful; the dress of your dreams, if you were honest. 

“I— Quinn, what is this?” you asked as you spun around to meet his gaze. 

“It’s for you. For the wedding, and for whatever you want to use it for,” he said, scratching the back of his neck. For a moment, you couldn’t believe the words coming out of his mouth. Quinn had gone above and beyond of what you had expected him to do; now, as you looked closely at the dress, you could see the bodice was almost sheer — the skirt having a slit up your right leg, and tiny flowers embroidered over the hemlines. It was beautiful. 

“And before you say that I didn’t have to get you anything, I wanted to. You deserve to be given pretty gifts, and that dress is for me as much as it is for you. You’re gonna look amazing, and I’m gonna be fighting off every other man while we’re there,” he said, now smiling at you. God, if you weren’t in love with the man at this point, you would have been.

“Well then. It’s only fair you’re the one that gets to see me in it first. And hopefully last, too,” you said, trying to seem as seductive as possible. It was interrupted when you laughed, unable to keep serious, but Quinn kept his eyes on you — they were soft, and there was something you hadn’t seen before — want.

By the time the actual wedding came around later that week, after having to get Quinn’s tuxedo dry cleaned one more time after he spilled something on it, you found yourself back in your hotel room getting ready — you had gotten your hair done by a stylist, and makeup done by a friend in the area — both of which Quinn had covered, and wow, if that man wasn’t spoiling you this week.

Putting the last touches on your outfit, you heard the door to the suite open, and in came Quinn — freshly trimmed beard, his hair cut, dressed to perfection, and he looked, for a lack of a better word, soft. He looked happy, and you couldn’t help but blush — hoping you were part of the reason. 

“I — wow, you look — wow,” was all he could say, his throat dry and all the words he wanted to tell you suddenly caught in his throat. You looked enchanting — a vision in your lilac dress that showed off your curves, showed your tanned skin and the remnants of how much you loved the sun. He was enchanted, just by seeing you. 

“I— thank you. Literally, for all of this. I feel like a princess,” you laughed. Quinn only smiled back, and before you knew it, he was asking you to turn around, facing the mirrored vanity set. 

“I have one more surprise for you, pretty girl,” he whispered, before he retrieved a box from his suit pocket. It was small, and if you didn’t know better, you’d think it was an engagement ring. Almost as if he could sense your peaking anxiety, however, Quinn explained what it was, while opening the small velvet box. 

“I was going to wait to give this to you, but I can’t anymore. This, Y/N, is a promise ring, and in giving it to you, I’d like to promise you a few things,” he started, as he grabbed your left hand, and slipped the ring over your finger. 

“I promise you that I will be there for you, for whatever you need, and to take care of you. I promise that I’m going to love you until I can put another ring on that finger, and I promise that you will always be the only woman for me, ever.

I came up here with you because, in all truth, I love you. You’ve shown me the best parts of myself — parts that I didn’t even know existed, and you make me so happy. Seeing you now, you are the most beautiful woman in the world to me, and I am so lucky to have you; so, so lucky, Y/N.” he finished, and god if you didn’t want to sob. 

Not trying to waste anytime, you grabbed Quinn by his lapels, pulling his lips down to meet your own. His right hand cupped the back of your neck, while your hand went up to cup his jaw, where he angled your neck a bit to give him better access. Quinn’s kisses weren’t like anything you’d ever experienced before, and you wanted them — all of them. 

As the two of you pulled away, Quinn rested his forehead on yours. “Did you really mean that?” you whispered. He only smiled down at you.  “You are the most enchanting woman in the world, Y/N, and I will spend as much time as I can proving that to you. You came into my life when I needed you most — you’ve turned my entire world upside down, since the first moment I met you. Even when I would have rather been anywhere in the world that night at the party, I’m glad we ended up in that hospital room. I’m glad Norris never stopped trying us to get together, and I’m going to be honest with you — I spent that entire night and day and all of the days up until now enchanted by you.”

“I’ve gone every single day wishing you were at my door, praying that it was our very first page, and that we wouldn’t end there. I’m wonderstruck by you, every single day — even when I thought that you were in love with someone else. I was — and I am, enchanted by you, Y/N. Utterly and devastatingly enchanted,” he said, and kissed you once more.

Being pregnant obviously isn’t easy, but when you have your boyfriend and brother being overprotective and not letting you do anything, it’s starting to drive me crazy.

I am currently 6 months pregnant, my brother was over along with Emma. Brady and Josh are currently building the furniture for the nursery. I tried to help but they wouldn’t let me.

Emma and I are in the kitchen talking while I make us some food, she said she could do it but I told her it was fine and that I could do it. 

She knows that my brother and Josh are driving me crazy.

We heard footsteps coming closer, I turned around to see them come into the kitchen.

“Sis sit down, i’ll finish the food” Brady says when he saw I was making food. I looked at Emma annoyed and she chuckled.

“Brady, just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean I can’t make food” i said 

“Yeah but you should sit down” he said. I sighed before turned fully to him with a spatula in my hand.

“Brady let me make the food, you and Josh are driving me crazy with your overprotectiveness, and second of all Brady you can’t cook.” I snapped pointing the spatula at him. He looked at me eyes widened.

“Umm josh… little help here” he said looking between me and josh. Emma was full on laughing by now. Josh looked at me before looking back at Brady and shrugging.

“Nah, you’re on your own” josh said before walking over to me and kissing my cheek.

“Guys seriously she can still do stuff, if she needs help you know she’ll ask” Emma said taking my side.

“You’re supposed to be on my side” Brady said feeling betrayed. I smiled. 

“Brady… don’t make me call your mom” she said. His eyes widened.

“Nope, keep doing what you’re doing sis, i won’t stop you” he blurted out scared. I know damn well my mom would tell him to stop with the overprotectiveness. 

I turned and looked at Emma.

“I feel bad for whenever you get pregnant” I tell her. She shook her head and sighed.

“Me too” she replied making us both laugh.

“Sorry for being overprotective, I just wanted to make sure you and the baby are okay” josh said wrapping his arms around me.

“I know and i appreciate it, but you guys were going to far” 

“Promise you’ll ask if you need help with anything?” He asked. His chin rest on my shoulder.

“Always” i replied smiling.

“Good, I love you” he said kissing my cheek.

“I love you too”

I was at a house party and my abusive ex-boyfriend was there, He saw me and I got scared so I went and hid in a room on the first floor and locked the door. I didn’t know what I’m going to do, my brother is out of town for a road trip, but then I remembered that JOSH is at his house down the street since he was injured he didn’t go on the road trip. JOSH and I don’t exactly get along but he’s the only one that’s going to be able to get me out of this so I called him.

“What do you want?” he said when he answered.

“Look I know were not exactly friends, but I know my brother told you about what my ex did and he’s here at the party, I need you to help me leave…please” I said with tears in my eyes.

“Where are you?” he sighed

“The house party down the street from your house”

“Okay where are you in the house right now?”

“I looked myself in a room”

“are you on the first floor?”

“Yes”

“Okay is there a window?”

“Yeah, what do you want me to do, sneak out by the window?” I scoffed

“Yes, if you can, I’m already on my way there, I’m not far just make a run for it and meet me halfway” he said

“Okay I’m going”

I snuck out the window and made a run for it, I never looked back. I saw JOSH walking my way, once I finally caught up to him, I jumped in his arm.

“wow, okay” he said caught off guard and hugged me back

“Come on let’s go” he said as we walked to his house.

“Thank you” I said when we got in his house.

“Don’t worry about it, just go sit on the couch I’ll be back.”

I went and sat down on the couch, a few minutes later JOSH came back and handed me a hoodie and a pair of sweatpants.

“here, you can change into this and I’ll drive you home tomorrow” he said and I nodded.

I got up and went to the bathroom and changed before going back out.

I joined him on the couch again, he was watching the game on the tv the Sens were playing in Montreal.

“You look like you haven’t slept in over a week” he said looking at me.

“I haven’t been able to sleep a full night in a while…” I said embarrassed

“Are you scared he going to show up again?” he asked

“Yeah, I don’t know if I’ll ever not be scared” I said shyly

“I’m going to do something, and if you ever mention it to any of the guys I’ll deny it, understood?” he softly said, making me nod.

He got up from the couch and grabbed the throw blanket that was on the chair and came over to me and held out his hand. I looked at him for a second before grabbing it. He pulled me up, so I was standing next to him. I was so confused, then he laid down on the couch and pulled me on top of him, so I was laying on top of him. He threw the blanket on top of us.  I Looked up our faces were inches apart.

“Get some sleep, he can’t hurt you here” he told me with a small smile. I nodded.

I laid my head on top of his chest and closed my eyes.

“Thank you…” I said before falling asleep.

Jack, Cole, Matt, Trevor and Alex were all walking about the USA Hockey National Team Development Program Arena before they had a practice in an hour.

They walked over to where Quinn was sitting with Luke on the bleachers helping Luke with his homework.

“Algebra already!” Jack dramatically spoke as he looked at Luke’s work, remembering just doing Algebra like a year ago and Luke’s only fourteen.

“Some of us are actually smart.” Luke sassed back with a little smirk, Luke being the one out of the brothers to really excel in academics.

“Brat.” Jack flicked Luke on the head sitting on the bleachers behind Luke with his friends.

Brinley Matthews walked into the Arena coming back for her first day after summer break, luckily getting to have a little bit longer of a break as she didn’t have to go thought a development camp as she did her first year.

Her parents came out for a few days to get her settled and then they would head back home, she was gonna move her stuff into the Hughes house tonight knowing they are also housing one of Jack’s friends, Alex.

Luke looked up hearing someone set their bag on the bleachers in front of him and looked up seeing a girl on her phone and he smiled quickly realizing who it is, “Brinny!!” Luke happily got up and stepping down the few rows tackling Brinley into a hug.

“Hey Kiddo!” Brinley smiled happily hugging him back, “Are you getting taller!” she playfully ruffled his curls as they pulled back from the hug but Luke stayed curled against her side.

Luke was easily the most excited for having Brinley live with them for almost a year.

“Q!” Brinley smiled wrapping her arm around Luke letting him cuddle into her side, she truthfully has absolutely adored him from the second she met Luke over a year ago and had missed him over the summer.

“Hey B!” Quinn got up and walked over giving his best friend a side hug letting his little brother stay on her side.

“Brin!” Jack grinned and hurried down the bleachers quickly hugging her, Jack really grew close to Brinley and has enjoyed having a sister figure in his life.

“Hey JJ.” Brinley hugged back one of her favorite boys. What Brinley didn’t know yet was Jack has never let anyone ever call him JJ because he hated the nickname but for some reason he didn’t care if Brinley did.

“Gonna introduce me to your friends.” Brinley messed with Jack’s hair.

“Brin! Not the hair.” Jack dramatically groaned quickly trying to fix it in case a girl was nearby.

Quinn and Brinley shared a fond look trying not to laugh at Jack’s dramatics.

“Alright, That’s Alex, Matt, Trevor, and Cole.” Jack finished fixing his hair before he started introduced his friends, feeling weird saying their actual names and not their nicknames.

Alex waves softy, Matt sent her a smile, and Trevor pulled out his famous smirk, “Hi.”

Brinley only raised an eyebrow at the flirtatious boy and turned to Cole who hadn’t said anything yet, she saw him staring at her with sparkles in his eyes and she his lips parted before Trevor elbowed him into his side.

“Hey.” Cole mumbled shyly looking away from her reluctantly as his whole face heated up and he could hear his heartbeat in his ears as he met Brinley. Cole knew Brinley Matthews was beautiful but seeing her in person no picture does her justice.

“Alright be good.” Quinn gave a playful stern look to Jack before grabbing Luke’s stuff and walking away to his practice.

Brinley gave a wave to the boys before walking away with Luke following right behind Quinn heading to their practice.

It was silent for a moment before the boys looked at each other and just started cracking up, Cole sat there blushing like crazy as his friends all were cackling at him.

“Alright, Alright enough .” Cole kicked Jack and Matt as the four slowly calmed down.

“Heyyyy.” Jack teasingly mimicking Cole with a smirk on his face.

“Shut up.” Cole mumbled back.

Brinley Amelia Matthews the third born of Brian and Ema Matthews born January 2, 1998.

Brinley went on the ice for the first time with her big brother when she was a toddler and fell in love with being on the ice, crying if she wasn’t on the ice.

Brinley always wanted to beat Auston when they were playing against each other amd while she started playing as a foward she tried playing as a defender and loved being in that position more.

Brinley has always adored letting her younger sister teach her golf, Breyana being a extremely good golf player and competitively plays loves being able to teach her older sister and in return Brinley will drag her sister into the ice.

Brinley joined the USNTDP in 2015 and met Quinn Hughes, Josh Norris and Brady Thchuck. Quinn and Brinley became Defensive partners and ended up being an insane duo.

She roomed with Quinn and Brady for the first year in the program and in the second year Quinn’s family had moved to Michigan as Quinn’s brother Jack was also joining the program and Brinley lived with the Hughes for a year.

Josh and Brady both are on the Ottawa Senators and is only two hours away from Brinley, they try to hang out whenever they can.

Quinn and Brinley live pretty far away from each other so they try to see each other the most they can when they play against each other and especially in the summer they always at least spend some time together.

Brinley was apart of Brady and Emma’s wedding and was the maid of honor for Emma, having know Emma almost as long as she has know Brady and has found a best friend in Emma.

Luke instantly adored Brinley and looked up to her since the moment he met her, Brinley became a really big mentor to him and helped him a lot in his skills in hockey especially as a Defender.

Brinley was at Luke’s NHL having flown in just for the game and leaving the next day, early in the morning.

Jack really was awestruck seeing Brinley and especially when he saw her play live for the first time and quickly grew to think of her as family. Brinley was the only one Jack went to with the pressure of going first overall and his rookie year.

Brinley loves being on the Montreal Canadiens and she’s loves living in Montreal, she has been through the up and downs with the team and was voted in as Captain in the 2021-2022 season.

She’s always been the player who would willingly pare up with the younger players and the younger players always seem to do great playing with Brinley on the ice.

Brinley doesn’t tend to get in a lot of fights but she is protective of her team especially the younger ones and she will willingly fight for her team.

When Brinley first met Cole he stared up at her with stars in his eyes and Brinley just assumed it was like Cole looking up to her, what she didn’t realize was Cole was completely enthralled with Brinley and thought she was stunning.

Brinley met Nick before her third season in the NHL, the two immediately clicked and were soon very close friends and Brinley offered to be his roommates on the road and his first year in the NHL, Nick stayed in Brinley’s house.

Shea Webber was the Captain of the Habs when Brinley joined the team and he took her under his wing and they played in the same defense line together for the three years together until Shea was getting traded and Shea only wanted Brinley to become Captain after him. Brinley grew close to Shea’s family and watched as his kids grew up.

Jurai is one of the younger rookies to join the Habs and Brinley took him under her wing and became quite protective of her rookie, Juari grew very close to her as he moved to a new country and city and Brinley helped him settle in and settle into the team quite well.

When Brinley was younger her grandmother taught her how to crochet and it’s something she has always enjoyed, she usually spends her time on the plane or bus crocheting something, she always makes something for her teammates and especially any new players she has something waiting for them in their stall.

Summer 2018

It is currently summer, and I am at home in St. Louis with my family. Hockey season is officially over which means both my brothers are home. I am currently in my room sitting on my bed and I have both University letters that I applied for in front of me right now, I'm scared to open them. 

My dream school has always been Ottawa but it’s hard to get accepted. My second choice is Michigan since the Norris family lives pretty close to Ann Arbor. The only thing that sucks is that Josh will be a Sophomore at Michigan and we do not get along.

We’ve known each other since we were kids, Brady and Josh played in the Untdp together which is when we met, our parents became good friends. Dalton has always been like an older brother to me. Josh on the other hand has always been mean to me, whether it was insulting me, or pulling my hair when we were 12 years old or making fun of me in front of my friends and it never got better. I thought back to the first time I met Josh.

Flashback

We are 15 years old, it is my first time spending the summer at the Hughes Lake house along with my family and Josh’s family.

We just got to the Lake house when Ellen and Traci came outside with Josh.

“Josh this is Yn, she is Brady's younger sister and she's going to be spending the summer with us.” Traci told Josh. Josh made a disgusting look when he looked at me and then back at his mother.

“I don’t want to be friends with her” he told his mom before going back inside the house. I looked at my mom with a sad look. Her, Traci and Ellen gave me a sad smile.

“I’m sorry Yn, he’s not usually like this, it’ll get better I promise '' Traci reassured me.

I nodded.

It never got better, it only got worse.

I snapped out of it when there was a knock on my door. 

“Come in,” I said. Matthew poked his head in the room smiling, but it soon disappeared when he saw the nervous look on my face. He came in and closed the door behind him. He made his way to the bed and sat in front of me.

“What’s going on? Are you okay?” He asked worriedly.

I sighed and shocked my head before pointing and both letters that are next to him. He looked and his eyes widened.

“When did they come in?” He asked, looking back at me.

“This morning, mom gave them to me. I told her I wanted to open them alone before telling everyone but I'm scared” I told him. 

He smiled softly at me before picking them up and giving them to me.

“Do you want me to stay with you?” He asked.

“Would you?” 

“Of course, now open them so I know which shirt I’ll need to buy to support you” he said smiling. I chuckled before putting the Michigan letter down and opening my Ottawa letter. 

I took a deep breath before smiling and reading the letter. My smile soon disappeared when I learned I am on the waitlist.

“What does it say?” Matthew asked worriedly.

I brushed off tears that were threatening to fall. I shock my head.

“Waitlisted” I said sadly.

“Yn, it’s going to be okay, even if you don’t start there, you might be able to go after your first year,” he said. I nodded. I knew all of that, I just wish I could have been accepted immediately.

I grabbed the Michigan letter and opened it. I read it, and I got accepted. Matthew raised his eyebrows in question. I nodded my head. Matt leaned forward to pull me in a hug.

“I’m proud of you no matter what, and in Michigan you’ll have Josh and Quinn,” he said, trying to encourage me. I scoffed, pulling away from the hug and giving him a ‘are you for real’ look.

Matthew laughed.

“Look, maybe this will get you and Josh to be friends,” he said hopefully.

“I doubt it Matt, please don’t tell any of them i’m going there” I said. He nodded.

“I won’t but Brady might tell Quinn who might tell Josh, and we all know that mom and dad will tell Dwayne and Traci” he said, making me groan.

“Come on, let’s go tell everyone the news” he said, taking my hand and pulling me downstairs where everyone was.

“Yn has something she wants to share with everyone” he said smiling.

“Did you open the letters?” Mom asked. Brady’s eyes widened.

“Oh where are you going?” Brady asked excitedly, I know he was hopping I was going to Ottawa with him.

“Michigan… I got waitlisted for Ottawa, but i’ll try again next year” I said hopeful.

Everyone smiled and came to give me a hug and congratulated me.

“As much as i wish you would be joining me in Ottawa, you won’t be alone in Michigan, Wait till I tell Quinn and Josh about this,” Brady said happily. My eyes widened, I shook my head.

“Please don’t, Josh and I don’t get along. If you tell Quinn please tell him not to tell Josh. I don't want him knowing I'll be there” I asked. 

My mom looked at me sadly.

“Can we at least tell Dwayne and Traci, same with Jim and Ellen? If there’s ever anything and your dad and I can’t be there we know that one of them will be.” My mom asked.

I nodded.

“Can you just please ask them if they don’t tell Josh?” I asked 

“I will sweetheart, I’m incredibly proud of you, all my kids are now grown ups” she said smiling softly, with tears in her eyes. 

“Don’t worry mom, Matthew still acts like a kid” Brady said, making everyone laugh.

First week, Michigan 2018

I’ve been getting settled in Michigan for the past week. My parents went back to St. Louis yesterday. I’m in a single dorm room which i’m happy about, I didn’t want a roommate.

My mom ended up telling Dwayne and Traci along with Jim and Ellen that I was starting the year here. They were all very happy, they also promised not to tell Josh and to let me do it once I was ready, but they did let Quinn know so he could keep an eye on me, or help show me around, thankfully he promised not to tell Josh.

Classes are starting soon, I’m excited yet nervous since I don’t know anyone here. I’ve never been shy so I know I'll be able to make friends, I just have to make sure not to tell them I'm related to Matthew and Brady because when  people find out that’s one of the only reasons they want to be friends.

I just hope everything goes well when classes start.

One Month, Michigan 2018

I’ve been here for a month now, classes have been good, I've made a friend whose name is Molly. Her dorm is right next to mine, it turns out her brother plays on the hockey team.

I also met her brother, I have Econ with him and a few other freshmen on the men’s hockey team. After Molly introduced me to her brother, he introduced me to Nick since we all have Econ together I usually sit with them.

The boys invited me to a party tonight which the sophomore’s are throwing at their house. I was a little hesitant to accept since Josh will be there since it’s at his house.

But it’s already been a month so he’s going to find out soon anyways plus I don’t like lying to the guys about who I am, so I ended up accepting.

Molly was also going so she asked if I wanted to pregame with her, which I gladly agreed. Jimmy ended up getting one of the seniors on the team to buy us alcohol, which thank god since if i’m going to be seeing Josh, I’ll need alcohol in my system.

Molly and I were sitting on her bed talking and drinking. I've been nervous the whole day. I don’t know how Josh will react when he sees me, will he make a scene in front of everyone? Will he tell the guys not to talk to me again? Will they listen to him?

“Yn are you okay? You look nervous” Molly asked worriedly. I sighed before nodding.

“I didn’t really tell anyone here about this but um, I already know Josh Norris and I didn’t know who your brother was before but then I found out they’re teammates. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you but my family is really close with him along with the Hughes family since my brother Brady played in the Untdp with Josh and Quinn.” I said she looked at me surprised.

“It’s fine I get why you didn’t tell me you didn’t want him to find out you go here, and by Brady do you mean Brady Tkachuk?” She asked. I nodded.

“Okay then, I guess we both have brothers who play hockey,” she said, making me chuckle.

“So you’re not mad I didn’t tell you?” I asked worriedly. She shook her head and smiled.

“Not at all” she said

“Great, I was worried that when you found out you wouldn’t want to be friends anymore” I said and she laughed.

“I understand why you didn’t want anyone to know, i’m not going to stop being friends with you because of it” she said and I smiled 

“I’m just worried that Josh might cause a scene tonight when he sees me,” I said.

“If it gets to much, or he starts to make a scene, let me know and we’ll leave”

“I don’t want you to leave the party because of me” 

“Don’t worry about it, I wouldn’t leave you alone” she said smiling.

After a while we met up with her brother, along with Nick. We all made our way to the party together thank god. I ended up warning them about the Josh situation, just like Molly they understood.

Once we got there we made our way to the living room where it was already packed with people. Nick and Jimmy went to get us some drinks. When they got back they gave Molly and I a white claw. I’m already feeling a little drunk, but not too bad.

We kept talking when I felt someone tap me on the shoulder. I turned around confused to see a happy Quinn Hughes, which made me smile. Quinn is probably one of the Nicest guys ever, I like him, and unlike Josh he actually likes me.

Quinn Smiled brightly.

“I thought that was you, how are you enjoying Michigan?” He rambled before pulling me in a hug. I Chuckled.

“I like it,” I replied. He pulled away from the hug before looking at me confused.

“I’m glad, remember to text me if you ever need anything?” 

“I know” I said 

“ I could have showed you around campus, you know” he said. I could tell he was a little hurt that I ask him.

“I’m sorry Quinn, but I didn’t want to risk Josh finding out” I said, Quinn’s eyes softened.

“Well if he tries anything, let me know, he’s not the only one who lives here” he said.

“Thanks Quinn” I said.

“He’s in the kitchen now if you just want to get it over with,” Quinn said.

I looked at him before looking at Molly and the guys. They nodded.

“Okay sure probably best to just do that, if it goes south Molly, can yo…” I started but she cut me off

“I’ll rescue you, I promise,” she said with a smile.

“Thank you” I said before looking back at Quinn and nodding.

As we started walking I got even more nervous than I already was.

we made our way to the guys.

Josh has his back to us so he can’t see us making our way to them, but Will looked our way and his eyes widened, he was at the lake house for a bit this summer.

Josh turned around confused but when his eyes landed on me, he was pissed.

He met Quinn and I half way And looked down at me with a glare. If I was anyone else they probably would have been terrified and honestly I was a little bit, Josh is way taller than me, I'm only 5”5 so he’s towering over me.

“What the hell are you doing here?” he said harshly.

Quinn looked at him Annoyed

“Josh seriously, leave her alone. She’s a student here now, and unlike you I actually like her along with some of the freshmen so she’s not going anywhere "Quinn told him.

Josh rolled his eyes and laughed. What the hell was so funny?

“Just because you go here now, doesn’t mean I'm going to start being nice to you” he said looking me straight in the eyes.

“Wouldn’t expect anything else from you” I said annoyed.

He just rolled his eyes and went back to the rest of the guys.

“Well that went better than expected, '' Quinn said surprised, which made me laugh. 

“Same Quinn, I honestly thought It was going to be worse.”

If it wasn’t the fact that Josh was angry with me, I actually thought he looked amazing. I thought, I snapped out of it, what the hell? I can’t stand the guy and now I think he looks good? I think I had enough to drink.

March 2019

(Pretend they made it to the big ten)

With Josh finding out that I'm in Michigan I thought it would be worse than it is. I think Quinn has been keeping him in check, which I am very grateful for.

I’ve been going to the hockey game with Molly, we got even more close.

Even though Josh still tries to make my life a living hell, the rest of the guys on the team like me.

I reapplied to Ottawa about a month ago. I'm still waiting for my acceptance letter by email, I didn’t tell the guys, the only one who knows is Molly.

It’s now Monday and this weekend the guys are going to Minnesota for the Big Ten Championship. Molly was going with her parents since it’s a big game for the boys. 

I really hope they win, they’ve been playing amazing. 

I am currently in my dorm room working on some homework when my phone starts ringing. I looked to see that Traci was calling me.

I answered.

“Hey Traci” I said happily, she’s always been like a second mom to me.

“Hey sweetheart, what are you up to?” She asked

“Right now I am finishing some homework, what’s up?” I asked.

“That’s good, I always have to keep those grades up,” she said, making me laugh.

“I was actually wondering if you wanted to come with Dwayne and I to Minnesota this weekend for the Big Ten Championship game?” She asked.

“I don’t know if that’s a good idea, Josh and I don’t exactly get along” 

“Sweetheart, that doesn’t matter, I know Molly is also going and Dwayne and I love you like a daughter so we thought we would ask, you don’t have to if you don’t want to” she said softly. I thought about it for a few seconds. I can complete all my homework before, and that way I won’t be alone in Ann Arbor when all my friends are in Minnesota.

I smiled softly.

“I’d love to,” I said.

“Perfect, I can’t wait, I’ll send you the details” she said happily.

“Thank you Traci”

“Anytime sweetheart, I'll let you get back to your homework” she said.

Once we said our goodbyes I hung up and texted Molly to tell her I was going to Minnesota with them, she’s excited and so am I.

Big Ten Championship, 2019

Dwayne, Traci and I got to Minnesota this Morning after we made our way to the hotel. Traci and I met up with Molly and her mom, along with Ellen and we went to do a little bit of shopping at the mall. That game is tonight, so at 3 we all made our ways back to the hotel so we could get ready for the game. 

I was nervous the whole game but luckily Michigan was able to win. Thankfully it’s Friday, and everyone is leaving to go back to Michigan tomorrow morning. The guys have already said they are throwing a party as soon as they step foot in Ann Arbor. 

As soon as the plane landed Traci and Dwayne dropped us off on Campus where we both made our way to our dorms to get ready for this party and hang out with the boys.

They’re flight is supposed to land in an hour, so we have time to chat and get ready.

When the boys were ready to get the party started Quinn texted me to let me know we could go over to the seniors house.

Once we arrived we started drinking with the boys, they were already drinking full swing when we got there. 

Talking and partying with them is always fun. 

At around 8:00 p.m. I saw Josh make his way to the kitchen, probably to get himself another drink, I followed him there. He took a beer out of the cooler, he turned around to see me there, I smiled weakly. 

“Do you mind giving me one?” I asked.

He rolled his eyes before taking a second beer and passing it to me.

I smiled

“Thank you.” I replied.

He gave me a small nod and went to walk away but I stopped him.

There was no one else in the kitchen, everyone was either in the living room or outside.

“Wait” I rushed out so he wouldn’t leave.

He stopped in his tracks before turning and looking at me. He raised his eyebrows in question.

“What?” He asked, annoyed. 

I was a little drunk but not too bad, but thankfully when I have alcohol in my system I’m not scared to talk to him.

“I just wanted to say congrats, you guys played really well” I said.

He nodded and went to walk away again.

“Why do you hate me so much?” I blurted out.

Josh rolled his eyes.

“Because I don’t like you,” he said and walked away. Why can’t he see me the same way I see him? He’s an incredible person even though he’s always mean to me, he’s nice to everyone else he’d do anything for his friends or family. I just wish he liked me.

It sucks having a crush on someone when that someone hates you.

I sighed before making my way back to Molly.

Frozen four 2019

I finally got the Letter from Ottawa. I've been accepted so it means I'll be moving there next year. Molly was a little sad when she found out I was leaving Umich but she was also excited for me to be going to my dream school, she told me that we would still stay in touch and we both promised to visit each other.

Jimmy heard the conversation and ended up telling Will who told Josh. Josh ended up coming to my door angry saying that the only reason I was going to Ottawa was because he was going to Ottawa. I was going since it’s my dream school and my brother is also there.

The argument ended in a screaming match and we haven’t talked to each other since.

I really wish we could get along but I don’t think we ever will.

I went to Tampa with Dwayne and Traci to watch the Frozen Four, sadly the boys lost, which meant Josh left for Ottawa, Quinn was leaving for Vancouver, it was an emotional time.

Once I got back to Umich, the last 2 weeks of University flew by. I said goodbye to Molly and the guys before finally heading home to St. Louis.

Three Years Later, Summer 2023

NHL playoff we’re officially over, sadly Matty lost in the finals against Vegas and got injured but they had a good run.

Everyone has been home for a while now. We are leaving today to go to New Jersey for Brady and Emma’s wedding.

I can’t wait to finally have another sister. Emma and Brady are perfect for each other, I hope someday I’ll find that type of love.

Three years went by fast, I spent the past three years in Ottawa ignoring Josh, it wasn’t that hard since he was also keeping his distance from me.

Thankfully the flight went by fast and I was able to sleep on the plane, I didn’t spend it worrying about seeing Josh. The whole Norris family along with the Hughes family will be at the wedding. As excited as I am to see Dalton, Quinn, Josh and Jack, I am not excited to see Josh.

Josh and I have seen each other a few time in Ottawa but the only time we talked to each other was to argue, it only got worse after he accused me of only going to Ottawa to make his life a living hell since I was going to be in Ottawa. I never told anyone about that fight, they all know we don’t get along so it won’t be a surprise if we get into an argument at the wedding.

My parents warned me to try and not make a scene to ruin Brady and Emma’s wedding. I totally understand that’s the last thing I want to do, plus we are all adults here.

Rehearsal dinner

Once Taryn and I were ready we met up with Matty and our parents to go to the venue.

I’m so nervous about seeing Josh, that's all I can think about. Once we get there he’s the first one I see, he’s with his brother and parents he had his back to me which meant he didn’t see me but Dalton did so he waved and smiled. I did the same, that’s when Josh turned around confused and saw me, all he did was send me a glare and went back to talking with his brother.

I really hope this doesn’t cause any trouble.

During the end of the night when everyone was around talking and drinking I made my way out on the balcony so I could get some fresh air.

I didn’t realize anyone followed me until I heard the door slide open and then shut.

I turned around only to find Josh.

I rolled my eyes and turned back around to look at the view.

If he doesn’t want to be anywhere near me, why did he follow me outside?

“What do you want Josh?” I asked, annoyed, when he came and stood next to me. I looked up to see he was looking at the sky.

He looks really good in his suit.

“I just thought I’d tell you not to cause a scene this weekend and ruin your brother’s wedding” he said

I scoffed before turning fully to look at him.

“Screw you, I was doing pretty good at ignoring you, why the hell did you have to come out here and start this?” I asked angrily.

He chuckled 

“This is what I meant all you had to do was agree and move on,” he said, pissed.

“You started it, What the hell is a matter with you? It’s always like this… why do you hate me so much?” I asked, pissed.

“Because you deserve it” 

I scoffed.

“Except I don’t… i’ll i’ve ever tried to do was be nice to you… what have I ever done to you to make you hate me so much?…” I said tears are threatening to fall. Before Josh could say anything Matt interrupted.

“That’s enough you two, don’t do this here” I heard Matt say before he pulled me away. I saw Dalton and Quinn giving me a sad look before he pulled Josh back inside.

I was so focused on the argument I never realized they’d made their way outside.

Once Josh, Dalton and Quinn made their way inside Matt, looked at me worried.

“What happened between the two of you? Usually when you guys know something important, you guys ignore each other, I mean brady always said you guys mostly ignored each other in Ottawa except for a few times… Did something happen?” Matt asked.

I sighed before nodding my head.

“When I got accepted to Ottawa three years ago as you know, I had only told Molly, but turns out Jimmy had heard so he told Will who told Josh… Josh accused me of only going to Ottawa because he was also going, so I could make his life a living hell, which is why i tried ignoring him as much as I could for the past three years” I said, wiping away the tears that rolled down my cheek.

Matthew signed before pulling me in a hug. I started to silently cry.

“I’m so sorry, Yn” he said sadly.

“Why does he hate me so much? Should have I stayed in Michigan? Should I never had moved to Ottawa in the First place?” I asked 

Should I have let him win and stayed in Michigan even though Ottawa to my dream school three years ago? Should I have left my dreams while he goes to live his? Should I leave the Job I’m supposed to start in September in Ottawa and stay in St. Louis?

“First off you Went to Ottawa because you had worked your ass off for it, so you weren’t ever going to back out. Second I don’t think he’s ever hated you, so you better not be thinking of turning that job down in Ottawa just to please him…” matt said 

“You literally just heard him, he clearly doesn’t like me… I just wish he could see me the way I see him” I blurt out. I look at Matt with wide eyes, I can't believe I just said that. 

Matt started smirking.

“Stop, you better not say anything” I pointed at him.

He raised his hands up in surrender.

“Look I won’t say anything… but guys are kinda idiots so we usually do stupid things when we like a girl… I think he might actually feel the same way he’s just too afraid to say anything, "Matt said, making me laugh.

“Yeah right” I said in disbelief, there is no way Josh feels the same way about me. I won’t believe it.

Matt and I finally made our way inside, we didn’t mention what happened to anyone, no chance was I going to ruin Brady and Emma’s night.

I didn’t see Josh anywhere so maybe he left.

Once the night was over we all made our ways to our rooms. Thankfully I'm rooming with Taryn. When I was finally ready for bed, Taryn was laying on her phone when she saw me making my way to my bed.

“What happened on the balcony tonight?” She was curious. She put her phone on the bedside table before looking at me.

I looked at her shocked, I didn’t realize anyone noticed we were there.

“You saw that?” I asked, before getting under the blanket.

“Yeah, Emma’s the one who noticed and told me, '' she said. I looked at her Guilty. Fuck i was really hopping neither Emma or Brady saw that.

Taryn saw my guilty look before she reassured me.

“Don’t worry, she wasn’t mad… she was just worried about you… apparently she thinks you like Josh or something?” She said

My eyes widened.

“What about me? Puff no…” I struggle nervously. Taryn's eyes widened before she started laughing.

“Oh my god, she was right? Why the hell didn’t you tell me this?” She asked

“Because he’s never going to feel the same way” I mumbled, but she still heard me.

“He’s an idiot if he doesn’t and you never know… maybe Dalton or even Quinn will talk some sense into him. Plus tomorrow’s the wedding and a lot of people fall in love at weddings…” she said.

“Are we still talking about Josh and I? Or is there something you want to tell me?” I laughed.

She chuckled.

“We’re still talking about you and Josh,” she said, chuckling.

“Whatever, get some sleep we have to wake up early tomorrow” I said.

“Good night sis” she said

“Good night,” I replied, yawning.

Wedding day

Taryn and I woke up early to make our way to the suite so we could get ready with Emma since we were both bridesmaids.

Emma is absolutely stunning. I know for a fact that Brady will cry, Taryn and I made a bet with Matty. Once it was time to make our way to the ceremony we made our way down to meet the groomsmen, I’m walking with Quinn thankfully. 

When Quinn saw me he smiled. I stood next to him so he gave me a side hug. 

“You look beautiful,” he said. I smiled at him.

“Thank you, you don’t look too bad yourself” I said, making him chuckle.

The pair started making their way down the aisle, before it was our turn, Quinn leaned in my ear to whisper.

“Josh is going to try and talk to you at the reception… I promise everything will go alright, Dalton and I talked to him last night, you should hear him out” he said, I sent him a nod.

The ceremony went amazing, I cried during their vows. When Brady saw Emma walking down the aisle he cried, both Taryn and I sent him a look that said you better pay up.

After the ceremony we all made our way outside for pictures before going to the reception.

At the reception after the speeches I saw Josh looking at me. I thought about what Quinn said, it still made me nervous so I tried to ignore him until I was at least tipsy.

I talked with Kevin Hayes and his wife. They got married about a week ago, it was a beautiful wedding.

“Why is it that when I leave St. Louis you get traded there?” I asked smirking, He laughed and shrugged.

“Promise me you’ll visit when you visit home?” He asked

“I promise,” I said chuckling.

I saw Josh make his way to the balcony, I was finally tipsy so I went to the open bar to get another drink before making my way to him. 

I took a deep breath before opening the door.

He was leaning on the railing looking at the sky in front of him.

I made my way and stood next to him.

It was quiet for a few minutes and I was just starting to get even more nervous so I decided to speak up. 

“Quinn said you wanted to talk to me?” I asked, looking at him.

He looked at me and smiled shyly. He took a deep breath before nodding.

“I’m sorry” he said

I scoffed, is that really all he has to say?

“Sorry for what exactly?” I asked, annoyed.

He rolled his eyes

“I knew you were going to be difficult” he replied annoyed 

I signed before scratching my head.

“Look Josh I’m tired of fighting with you, why are you always so mean to me?” I said sadly.

If he could just tell me why, I'll leave him alone after and he won’t have to talk to me again.

He sighed before turning to look at me fully. He was standing right in front of me. My face was inches away from his chest. I looked up at him.

“I never meant to be so mean to you, or hurt your feelings, trust me I know, i’ve heard it from our friends and my family…” 

“Then why are you?” I whispered looking up at him.

He raised his hand to my cheek stroking it with his thumb. 

“I’m really sorry, I really like you, always have but when we first met I thought you had a crush on Jack and I guess I was jealous and according to Quinn I was very wrong but when I finally figured out that wasn’t the case I really thought you hated me for the way I treated you so I just never stopped…” he said caressing my cheek.

I looked at his eyes, I could tell he was sorry, that he meant every word he just said. 

“I never had a crush on Jack, him, Luke and Quinn have always been like brothers to me…same with your brother,  you’re the one I had a crush on and Jack figured it out so he would always tease me about it when we were kids” I said chuckling.

He smiled.  

I saw him look from my lips then back to my eyes.

“Can I kiss you?” He asked

“I’d like that,” I said smiling.

He leaned down and smashed his lips to mine. Our lips moved in sync. I moved my hands to his chest. 

One of his hands was still on my cheek, he moved the other around my waist and pulled me closer, deepening the kiss. 

Before the kiss could get too heated we pulled away breathing heavily. I smiled looking at him.

“I’ve been waiting to do that since we were 15” he said smiling. I giggled.

“I'm glad you finally did,” I said.

I saw something in the corner of my eye at the door. I pulled slightly away only to see Quinn, Jack, Luke, Matt, and Tim Stutzle, watching us.

My eyes widened, I hid my face in Josh’s chest and groaned.

“What?” He asked, chuckling.

“We have an audience” I mumbled embarrassingly. I felt him turn his head to look at the door.

“We’re never gonna live this down are we?” He asked

“Definitely not” 

“Come on, we better go back inside before they start yelling at everyone,” Josh said, making me chuckle.

“Good idea” I said nodding

He kissed my forehead before grabbing my hand and pulling me inside.

I’m really happy, I don’t even think the teasing we were about to get will even ruin my mood.

I saw Jack giving money to Luke and Quinn.

“Did you guys bet on us?” Josh asked them, surprised.

“Hell yeah we did” Jack said excitedly.

“There’s more than one, Brady, Tim and I have one going with Emma and Taryn, guess the girls were right about the fact a wedding loves bringing people together” Matt said. 

“You better go pay up and put Emma in a better mood and piss off Brady” I said, he laughed.

“Come on let’s go find Brady we’ll need his money too” Matt said, grabbing me by the arm and dragging me with him. I laughed while Tim and I followed behind. Josh stayed with the guys.

“You couldn’t have waited until we went to the lake house next week?” Matt asked me right before we find Brady

“Sorry Matty,” I said smiling, I'm not sorry at all.

Brady was talking with a few of his teammates, Emma was talking with some of the girls along with Taryn not far from him.

Brady turned around when we got to him.

He pulled us into a hug.

“I’m Married, can you believe it?” He said excitedly. I couldn’t stop laughing.

“Tone it down, we owe money to Taryn and Emma” Matt said

Brady's eyes widened then his jaw dropped.

“Seriously, you couldn’t have waited till next week? Did it really have to be on my wedding day?” He asked. 

“Clearly your wife is okay with that,” I said, smirking.

“Yeah, yeah here” he said, handing the money to me. Matt and Tim did the same. I made my way to Emma and Taryn, they both smiled when they saw me.

“Well i’m about to make both of you very happy” I said, they looked at me confused until i showed them the money.

“You guys won the bet” I continued.

“Oh my god, Finally” Emma said, hugging me. Taryn joined us.

“We’ve all been waiting for this to happen” Taryn said

“Well I'm just glad someone believed it would.” I said, making them laugh.

“I’m pretty sure everyone believed it would, we just didn’t know when” Emma said.

“Well i’m glad that i got to help you both make a little bit of money, i’ll let you guys go back to chatting, I’ll find you both later… enjoy your wedding sis "I told Emma.

“Thanks Yn, couldn’t be happier to receive two sisters,” she said.

“Love you both” i said smiling 

“We love you too, now go back to Josh “ Taryn said. I started laughing while making my way back to Josh, who smiled when he saw me.

New Jersey, Two years later.

“You may now kiss the bride” the officiant said 

Josh put his hand on my waist and pulled me into a passionate kiss.

All the cheering in the back was loud.

 When we pulled away, we learned our foreheads together, smiling.

“I love you Mr. Norris” I said

“I love you more Mrs. Norris” he replied

“We finally have a sister” I heard Dalton yelling in the background making me giggle.

I can’t believe I just married the love of my life, it feels like forever ago we had just confessed our feelings for each other, on this exact balcony and now we're married.

I looked behind Josh to see my Brother Brady who is one of the groomsmen, he was crying which made me laugh.

“Brady, when did you become the emotional one in the family?” I joked, he just gave me the finger, with Matty slapping his hand down.

Looks like I found a love like Brady and Emma After all, I couldn’t be happier.

It’s Christmas morning, when I hear footsteps walking closer. I pretended to still be asleep when I felt someone poking me, I opened my eyes to see Y/s/n smiling at me.

“Mommy wake up it’s christmas” he said happily. I smiled at him before picking him up and dropping him between Josh and I.

“Let’s wake up your dad” I whispered in his ear. He nodded excitedly.

He dropped his body on Josh’s chest.

Josh groaned before opening his eyes. 

“Daddy it’s christmas!” He said. Josh smiled at him.

“It’s Christmas?” Josh asked jokingly.

“Yes, come on” he said, dragging Josh out of bed making me laugh.

“Grandma, grandpa and Uncle Matty are already up, she said uncle Brady and aunty emma are almost here with aunty taryn” y/s/n said.

“Well what are we waiting for, let’s go” Josh said Happily. I chuckled before following behind them.

Brady, Emma, and Taryn just got here when we got to the kitchen.

“Merry christmas guys” I told them before giving each of them a hug.

“Merry Christmas,” They all said.

We all sat down at the dining table and ate the breakfast that my parents made. 

Once we were all done we all made our way to the living room so Y/s/n could open his presents.

The last gift he opened was from Matty and it’s a new mini hockey stick.

“Can we play dad?” he asked Josh.

“If everyone else wants to, we can,” Josh replied.

y/s/n looked at Matty, Brady, Taryn, Emma, and his grandma and grandpa.

“I’m going to clean honey, I’ll play later okay?” My mom told him.

“I’m going to go help grandma but i’ll play later.” I said Kissing his forehead, before following my mom into the kitchen.

“Let’s go play buddy,” Taryn said. 

Josh went to get the other Mini sticks we have in the house, so everyone could play. My mom and I started cleaning the Kitchen while they played hockey in the living room.

When we were almost done, Y/s/n came into the kitchen.

“Mommy, grandma join us, please?” he said.

We both smiled at him.

“Come on, let's go play.” I said as we followed him.

“Grandma you’re on my team, Mommy you can be on the other team” he said seriously.

I chuckled.

“Is that so?” I asked jokingly.

“Yes” he replied and everyone laughed.

We started playing. Christmas morning with the family has always been my favorite. It got even better after y/s/n was born.

“Score! Grandma scored on uncle brady!” y/s/n said, making us laugh.

“I was distracted,” Brady said.

“Don’t lie honey, I’m just better than you” My mom said, we couldn’t stop laughing.

“Grandma is awesome” Y/s/n before hugging her.

“Do we keep playing?” Matty asked.

“YES!” My son said excitedly.

I am currently looking out of my apartment window, it’s raining pretty bad. There’s a warning for a severe thunderstorm storm. It’s currently 7:00 p.m, looks like I won’t be getting much sleep tonight.

Usually when there’s a thunderstorm I go stay with my brother, but he’s currently on a road trip right now. I’ve been terrified of thunderstorms since I was a kid, it’s always loud and surprising which I hate.

I’ve only had to be alone twice before, I usually turn on all the lights and stay in the living room with some music so I try to drown the noise, but it doesn’t always work. I also live in a tall apartment building which probably wasn’t the best idea since during thunderstorms it usually feels like the building is shaking.

I’m also terrified that the power will go out.

I saw lightning in the sky before the loud bang but it still made me jump. I rushed to turn the lights on and to grab a small speaker before jumping on the couch.

I turned on the music. The thunder kept getting louder and the music didn’t really help, so I hid my head in my hoodie.

Around five minutes later there was a knock on my door. I rushed to the door and opened it, only to find Josh Norris standing there.

“What do you want?” I asked

“You’re brother told me to come stay with you until the storm passes, I wouldn’t be here if I had a choice” he said annoyed.

“Well i’m find you can go back to yours” I say

He was about to respond when there was another loud bang, making me jump.

Josh’s eyebrows raised before he started laughing. I wanted to cry, it’s not a fear I want anyone to know about, especially not Josh, he makes fun of me enough as it is.

“Seriously… you’re afraid of thunder?” He asked once he finally calmed down from laughing.

“Shut up and leave me alone” I snapped right before another bang. 

“Look, stay or leave, I don’t care anymore” I said, leaving him at the door and making my way to the couch.

I sat down on the L side of the couch wrapping my arms around me.

I heard the door close, so I assumed Josh left. Only I was wrong when I felt someone sit at the end of the couch. I looked up to find Josh looking at me curious. I rolled my eyes.

“What?” I asked. Why the hell is he just looking at me? Didn’t he laugh enough a few minutes ago?

“Are you that much of a baby that you’re scared of thunder?” He asked, chuckling.

I scoffed 

“Fuck you Josh, it’s a normal fear” 

He rolled his eyes. 

“You’re also an adult” he said

There was another bang making me yelp. I pulled my knees to my chest and hugged them tight.

Josh signed. I felt him get off the couch and make his way to the chair and grabbed my throw blanket. He made his way to me, I looked at him curiously. What the hell is he doing?

He sat down next to me, put his legs up before wrapping the blanket around me and pulling me on his chest. He wrapped his arms around me. I shifted so I could lay down like him, and be more comfortable.

I looked up at him confused. Why is he doing this?

“What are you doing?” I asked

He rolled his eyes looking down at me.

“Just shut up and relax,” he said, annoyed. I rolled my eyes before cuddling him.

Another loud bang made me jump but Josh hugged me tighter.

I hid my face in the crock of his neck.

“What did you do today?” He asked. I pulled my head back to look at him confused, what?

He rolled his eyes.

“I’m trying to distract you, so what did you do today?” He asked again.

I laid my head on his shoulder. 

“I cleaned the apartment, and watched a few movies.” I answered. He hummed.

“What movie did you watch?”

“ (favorite movie)” i said

“For real? It’s my favorite movie”

“Mine to” i said smiling softly 

“Looks like we do have something in common” he said, I smiled before looking at him. I saw that he was also smiling.

“I guess we do” 

“Is it helping?” He asked.

I nodded

“Thank you” I mumbled shyly.

“You’re welcome” he whispered.

I closed my eyes and tried to sleep since it was starting to get late and in case he wanted to leave I knew I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep alone tonight.

Right before I fell asleep he kissed my forehead.

“Good night, I'll be here when you wake up” he whispered.

I guess he does have a soft side for me.

I woke up the next morning on the couch still cuddled with Josh, our legs are tangled together and i’m laying on his chest.

I felt him move a little so I slowly blinked before looking up at him.

I saw he was waking up.

“Morning,” I said , yawning.

He looked down at me and smiled

“Morning, did you sleep well?” He asked

“Probably the best sleep i’ve had in a while so thank you” 

“You’re welcome” I moved and got up from the couch before making my way to the kitchen. I could feel josh staring at me.

I started to make coffee before looking back at Josh.

“Do you want coffee?” I asked

“Sure, why not,” he said before making his way to me.

Once the coffee was ready I poured some in two mugs and handed Josh one.

“Thanks” he said

Once we were done drinking our coffee, Josh was about to leave before he stopped and looked at me.

“What?” I was confused.

“Are you busy tomorrow night?” He asked nervously.

“No, why?”

“any chance I could take you on a date?” 

I smiled softly before nodding.

“I’d like that” i said, he smiled

“Great, i’ll pick you up at 6” he said

“Bye josh” 

“Bye yn, i’ll see you tomorrow” he said smiling
