Being pregnant obviously isn’t easy, but when you have your boyfriend and brother being overprotective and not letting you do anything, it’s starting to drive me crazy.

I am currently 6 months pregnant, my brother was over along with Emma. Brady and Josh are currently building the furniture for the nursery. I tried to help but they wouldn’t let me.

Emma and I are in the kitchen talking while I make us some food, she said she could do it but I told her it was fine and that I could do it. 

She knows that my brother and Josh are driving me crazy.

We heard footsteps coming closer, I turned around to see them come into the kitchen.

“Sis sit down, i’ll finish the food” Brady says when he saw I was making food. I looked at Emma annoyed and she chuckled.

“Brady, just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean I can’t make food” i said 

“Yeah but you should sit down” he said. I sighed before turned fully to him with a spatula in my hand.

“Brady let me make the food, you and Josh are driving me crazy with your overprotectiveness, and second of all Brady you can’t cook.” I snapped pointing the spatula at him. He looked at me eyes widened.

“Umm josh… little help here” he said looking between me and josh. Emma was full on laughing by now. Josh looked at me before looking back at Brady and shrugging.

“Nah, you’re on your own” josh said before walking over to me and kissing my cheek.

“Guys seriously she can still do stuff, if she needs help you know she’ll ask” Emma said taking my side.

“You’re supposed to be on my side” Brady said feeling betrayed. I smiled. 

“Brady… don’t make me call your mom” she said. His eyes widened.

“Nope, keep doing what you’re doing sis, i won’t stop you” he blurted out scared. I know damn well my mom would tell him to stop with the overprotectiveness. 

I turned and looked at Emma.

“I feel bad for whenever you get pregnant” I tell her. She shook her head and sighed.

“Me too” she replied making us both laugh.

“Sorry for being overprotective, I just wanted to make sure you and the baby are okay” josh said wrapping his arms around me.

“I know and i appreciate it, but you guys were going to far” 

“Promise you’ll ask if you need help with anything?” He asked. His chin rest on my shoulder.

“Always” i replied smiling.

“Good, I love you” he said kissing my cheek.

“I love you too”

Hmm, right now, I'm really into Jamie Drysdale, Jack Quinn, Mat Barzal, Ilya Sorokin, Josh Norris, William Nylander, and Joseph Woll. However, I am okay with the fic being with any of them -- I will let you take the reins here.

I tend to like fics that are more on fluffy side; however, angst with a happy ending also sounds great!

The fic...I'd love for it to take place in the offseason!

How are you today, my dear? I hope you are doing great. I'm doing great! Mainly, because I have you! I'm so happy to be your boyfriend on this wonderful Valentine's Day.

It will be amazing. We should go for a hike! Or maybe a picnic? Would you like to go skating? That all can happen if it would make you happy.

I will do absolutely anything to make you feel how much I adore you, my dear. If you want the sun, the moon, or even the stars–I will do my best to deliver it to you.

My heart feels as if it's running a marathon because I'm writing to you. As I am writing this I can't stop imaging your gorgeous face as you read it. I can see it clear as day, your rosy cheeks and your wide smile.

So I better say some pretty good mouth words. I mean I can at least try!

You deserve to feel like royalty today. Not that you don't merit that treatment every day but especially today.

Thunderstorm

Josh Norris x Female Tkachuk Reader

I am currently looking out of my apartment window, it’s raining pretty bad. There’s a warning for a severe thunderstorm storm. It’s currently 7:00 p.m, looks like I won’t be getting much sleep tonight.

Usually when there’s a thunderstorm I go stay with my brother, but he’s currently on a road trip right now. I’ve been terrified of thunderstorms since I was a kid, it’s always loud and surprising which I hate.

I’ve only had to be alone twice before, I usually turn on all the lights and stay in the living room with some music so I try to drown the noise, but it doesn’t always work. I also live in a tall apartment building which probably wasn’t the best idea since during thunderstorms it usually feels like the building is shaking.

I’m also terrified that the power will go out.

I saw lightning in the sky before the loud bang but it still made me jump. I rushed to turn the lights on and to grab a small speaker before jumping on the couch.

I turned on the music. The thunder kept getting louder and the music didn’t really help, so I hid my head in my hoodie.

Around five minutes later there was a knock on my door. I rushed to the door and opened it, only to find Josh Norris standing there.

“What do you want?” I asked

“You’re brother told me to come stay with you until the storm passes, I wouldn’t be here if I had a choice” he said annoyed.

“Well i’m find you can go back to yours” I say

He was about to respond when there was another loud bang, making me jump.

Josh’s eyebrows raised before he started laughing. I wanted to cry, it’s not a fear I want anyone to know about, especially not Josh, he makes fun of me enough as it is.

“Seriously… you’re afraid of thunder?” He asked once he finally calmed down from laughing.

“Shut up and leave me alone” I snapped right before another bang. 

“Look, stay or leave, I don’t care anymore” I said, leaving him at the door and making my way to the couch.

I sat down on the L side of the couch wrapping my arms around me.

I heard the door close, so I assumed Josh left. Only I was wrong when I felt someone sit at the end of the couch. I looked up to find Josh looking at me curious. I rolled my eyes.

“What?” I asked. Why the hell is he just looking at me? Didn’t he laugh enough a few minutes ago?

“Are you that much of a baby that you’re scared of thunder?” He asked, chuckling.

I scoffed 

“Fuck you Josh, it’s a normal fear” 

He rolled his eyes. 

“You’re also an adult” he said

There was another bang making me yelp. I pulled my knees to my chest and hugged them tight.

Josh signed. I felt him get off the couch and make his way to the chair and grabbed my throw blanket. He made his way to me, I looked at him curiously. What the hell is he doing?

He sat down next to me, put his legs up before wrapping the blanket around me and pulling me on his chest. He wrapped his arms around me. I shifted so I could lay down like him, and be more comfortable.

I looked up at him confused. Why is he doing this?

“What are you doing?” I asked

He rolled his eyes looking down at me.

“Just shut up and relax,” he said, annoyed. I rolled my eyes before cuddling him.

Another loud bang made me jump but Josh hugged me tighter.

I hid my face in the crock of his neck.

“What did you do today?” He asked. I pulled my head back to look at him confused, what?

He rolled his eyes.

“I’m trying to distract you, so what did you do today?” He asked again.

I laid my head on his shoulder. 

“I cleaned the apartment, and watched a few movies.” I answered. He hummed.

“What movie did you watch?”

“ (favorite movie)” i said

“For real? It’s my favorite movie”

“Mine to” i said smiling softly 

“Looks like we do have something in common” he said, I smiled before looking at him. I saw that he was also smiling.

“I guess we do” 

“Is it helping?” He asked.

I nodded

“Thank you” I mumbled shyly.

“You’re welcome” he whispered.

I closed my eyes and tried to sleep since it was starting to get late and in case he wanted to leave I knew I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep alone tonight.

Right before I fell asleep he kissed my forehead.

“Good night, I'll be here when you wake up” he whispered.

I guess he does have a soft side for me.

I woke up the next morning on the couch still cuddled with Josh, our legs are tangled together and i’m laying on his chest.

I felt him move a little so I slowly blinked before looking up at him.

I saw he was waking up.

“Morning,” I said , yawning.

He looked down at me and smiled

“Morning, did you sleep well?” He asked

“Probably the best sleep i’ve had in a while so thank you” 

“You’re welcome” I moved and got up from the couch before making my way to the kitchen. I could feel josh staring at me.

I started to make coffee before looking back at Josh.

“Do you want coffee?” I asked

“Sure, why not,” he said before making his way to me.

Once the coffee was ready I poured some in two mugs and handed Josh one.

“Thanks” he said

Once we were done drinking our coffee, Josh was about to leave before he stopped and looked at me.

“What?” I was confused.

“Are you busy tomorrow night?” He asked nervously.

“No, why?”

“any chance I could take you on a date?” 

I smiled softly before nodding.

“I’d like that” i said, he smiled

“Great, i’ll pick you up at 6” he said

“Bye josh” 

“Bye yn, i’ll see you tomorrow” he said smiling

“because you love me and you value my opinion.” you turn to him and wink while he rolls his eyes. “and last time you were in college. you’re a big boy now.”

“and i wasn’t before?” he asks cheekily and you send him a shy smile, a blush dusting your cheeks. he groans, “don’t smile at me like that. you know it drives me crazy.”

“you need to control yourself,” having decided his pushing duties were suspended, you pull the cart towards you. you make your way down the next aisle with josh trailing behind giving his opinion on the things you picked up. “do you even have utensils? like, non plastic ones?”

“not all of us can be so responsible with doing the dishes, y/n,” he rolls his eyes as you grab a thing of intensive and set them on top of the ever growing pile. “how much longer?”

“maybe i lied about you being a big boy,” you mumble, squealing when he punches your butt. “josh!”

he shrugs, feigning innocence before pointing towards the front of the store. you pout and he pecks your forehead before nudging you forward. you walk towards checkout and stand in line. he wraps his arms around your waist and whispers in your ear, “i’m going to marry you one day.”

you turn and look at him with a smile, “can’t wait.”

Dog movies of the '90s, ranked

Forget Shark Week, it’s Bark Week on Mashable. Join us as we celebrate all the good dogs, which we humans do not deserve.

The '90s gave us many great things, but we really don’t give the era enough credit for blessing us with vast array of entertaining dog movies.

Before Instagram-famous pups ruled the world, it was the dogs of Hollywood that stole our hearts.  These films were everywhere — they ruled theaters, TV, and VHS collections throughout the decade. Every pup — from the ones that were really, really good at sports to the ones that got lost while trying to find their way home — shined on screen. 

Each has a special place in the canon of canine films, but some were definitely better than others. Here’s your unofficial ranking of the top 10 dog movies films from the '90s.

10. Top Dog (1995)

A Chuck Norris joint in last place on this list? Sorry, but Top Dog is just...meh. In the 1995 film, Norris is partnered with police dog Reno, and the two soon find themselves trying to thwart the terrorist attacks of white supremacists and other hate groups. The film was released the same week as the terrorist attack in Oklahoma City, so all in all, it definitely wasn’t a fun comedy for the whole family! On top of that, it is filled with every cliche imaginable. Hard pass. 

9. Balto (1995)

Balto, on the other hand, is a gem of a film. Our part-wolf, part dog is the unlikely hero after a sled team gets lost in the middle of their journey to retrieve medicine for a dying child. It’s a touching story about turning weaknesses into strengths and overcoming what people think about you. Balto is an underdog in the truest sense. So if you find joy in watching one triumph, then this is some animated dog content for you. 

8. Lassie (1994)

Okay, there’s nothing wrong with Lassie. It did even score an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. But the story of an unbreakable bond between a young boy and his dog in the Great Depression wasn’t totally my cup of tea. Though even I must admit, it is heartbreaking when someone evil tries to destroy your family’s livelihood by kidnapping your dog. For young kids, it’s probably a treat. But for me, it did not stand the test of time. 

7. Shiloh (1996)

A lot of dog movies are really sad, so if you don’t like that, then don’t watch Shiloh. The 1996 film is based on the book by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, which shattered my 5th grade heart into so many pieces that I’m still triggered when I see beagles. Shilo is a pup who's abused by his owner Judd. He runs away from his horrible environment and ultimately takes shelter with Marty, a young boy, and *drumroll please* they bond and that bond can never be broken. 

6. Zeus and Roxanne (1997)

The only thing better than a bond between dog and human? The bond between dog and dolphin. Zeus and Roxanne is a refreshing film that avoids cliches. If you’re craving “interspecies communication," this is your movie. In Zeus and Roxanne, Zeus the dog helps a marine biologist conduct research on Roxanne, a dolphin. There's a kidnapping (a common dog movie trope) and a burgeoning love story between two humans — what more could you want? 

5. 101 Dalmatians (1996)

Sure, the stars of this movie are supposed to be the actual pups, but Glenn Close really steals the show. Everything that happens in the original happens here. So in that regard it gets zero points for originality. But Close plays such a phenomenally evil Cruella de Vil that it deserves a spot right in the middle.

4. Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993)

In Homeward Bound, Chance, Sassy, and Shadow are all eager to get home. So eager that they embark on an unforgettable journey through the wilderness despite the unfavorable odds. It's a beautiful movie (it was filmed in Oregon, after all) with some great voiceovers and involves almost no humans throughout, which is *chef's kiss*. Plus, you have two very different dogs to fall in love with — a golden retriever and an American bulldog! So many options!

3. Beethoven (1992)

If a dog that knows how to “sing” along to Beethoven doesn’t warm your heart, what will? The 1992 classic is a trip in terms of dog movies. The beloved Saint Bernard comes into the lives of the Newton family and makes himself right at home.  But pretty soon, there are lying doctors, animal abuse charges, fake euthanization, and more thrown into the mix. Beethoven isn’t for the faint of heart, but the ending makes it all worth it. 

2. Air Bud (1997)

There are most definitely no rules that say a dog can’t play basketball, and Air Bud proves just that. This nearly perfect film is probably what pops into your mind when you first think of dog movies from the 90s, because, well, it is flawless. When Josh discovers that Buddy, the stray golden retriever he took in, can play basketball, a whole new world opens up for the both of them. But just as Buddy and Josh blossom in their new environments, the doggo’s original owner wants his star basketball dog back. Air Bud is chock full of action, emotions, and sports — plus the sheer amount of spinoffs (there are at least 12) prove that will always be a mainstay in the hearts of dog movie lovers everywhere.

  1. A Goofy Movie (1995)

Despite the fact that the canines in this masterpiece walk on two legs like humans, this most definitely is a dog movie. Don't @ me. Goofy forces his high-school-aged son Max to go on a fishing trip to kick off summer and strengthen their bond. Max is determined to impress his crush, but because of the impromptu trip, is forced to lie about why he can't take her out. Meanwhile Goofy, determined to do right by his son, takes them on an adventure. There's love. There's family. There's a soundtrack. It stands up to the test of time and is perfect for teens, tweens, and parents alike. What's not to love?

Of course great dog movies didn't stop when the decade ended. So if these films aren't enough, I suggest watching the later films My Dog Skip, Eight Below, Where the Red Fern Grows, and of course, Marley and Me. 

May these, and many more, inspire a new wave of heartbreaking and hilarious dog movies for generations to come!

I was at a house party and my abusive ex-boyfriend was there, He saw me and I got scared so I went and hid in a room on the first floor and locked the door. I didn’t know what I’m going to do, my brother is out of town for a road trip, but then I remembered that JOSH is at his house down the street since he was injured he didn’t go on the road trip. JOSH and I don’t exactly get along but he’s the only one that’s going to be able to get me out of this so I called him.

“What do you want?” he said when he answered.

“Look I know were not exactly friends, but I know my brother told you about what my ex did and he’s here at the party, I need you to help me leave…please” I said with tears in my eyes.

“Where are you?” he sighed

“The house party down the street from your house”

“Okay where are you in the house right now?”

“I looked myself in a room”

“are you on the first floor?”

“Yes”

“Okay is there a window?”

“Yeah, what do you want me to do, sneak out by the window?” I scoffed

“Yes, if you can, I’m already on my way there, I’m not far just make a run for it and meet me halfway” he said

“Okay I’m going”

I snuck out the window and made a run for it, I never looked back. I saw JOSH walking my way, once I finally caught up to him, I jumped in his arm.

“wow, okay” he said caught off guard and hugged me back

“Come on let’s go” he said as we walked to his house.

“Thank you” I said when we got in his house.

“Don’t worry about it, just go sit on the couch I’ll be back.”

I went and sat down on the couch, a few minutes later JOSH came back and handed me a hoodie and a pair of sweatpants.

“here, you can change into this and I’ll drive you home tomorrow” he said and I nodded.

I got up and went to the bathroom and changed before going back out.

I joined him on the couch again, he was watching the game on the tv the Sens were playing in Montreal.

“You look like you haven’t slept in over a week” he said looking at me.

“I haven’t been able to sleep a full night in a while…” I said embarrassed

“Are you scared he going to show up again?” he asked

“Yeah, I don’t know if I’ll ever not be scared” I said shyly

“I’m going to do something, and if you ever mention it to any of the guys I’ll deny it, understood?” he softly said, making me nod.

He got up from the couch and grabbed the throw blanket that was on the chair and came over to me and held out his hand. I looked at him for a second before grabbing it. He pulled me up, so I was standing next to him. I was so confused, then he laid down on the couch and pulled me on top of him, so I was laying on top of him. He threw the blanket on top of us.  I Looked up our faces were inches apart.

“Get some sleep, he can’t hurt you here” he told me with a small smile. I nodded.

I laid my head on top of his chest and closed my eyes.

“Thank you…” I said before falling asleep.
