hello, i just found your blog and i LOVE IT!!

Im a book fan for a quite a while, watched the movie and show and now re-reading the whole series.

I was wondering do you think Magnus from the books like TMI and Magnus in TID differs from Show Magnus

Also, I saw someone posted that Asmodeus was more evil in the show? And ive read TRSoM and TLBoTW and im ((spoilers)) he gotten worse in the books.

hmmmm. personally, i don't feel as they're much different, at their core they're all very similar. TID Magnus was fresh off the whole disaster with camille so there the sense he's trying to appear detached and seeking distraction. TMI magnus was kind of but less than TID magnus (remember the letter he wrote to alec when he said meeting alec made him feel alive again? yes that). show magnus were given more screen time than book ones (this is before the bane chronicles and the eldest curses) so we get a lot of hus vulnerable sides.

i think the same can be applied to asmodeus. he's given more space to flesh out his complexities & malice so we feel he's more evil

Let’s talk about this scene in TDA, shall we?

(I already put it in the tags but I’m saying it again: it will become a tlbotw post after the screenshots so be warned)

When Emma and Julian tell our Malec about Thule!Malec this happens:

Magnus’ outburst seems a bit out of place here. Magnus rarely looses is cool, especially around others, and here he’s grabbing him and shaking him and he looks furious, in front of people he barely knows. That’s a lot unlike him, he never does it even in extremely dangerous situations when he should be definitely more scared. There is nothing happening that threatens Alec’s life right now and nothing that suggests Alec would do something like that in their world.

I mean, there are no kids in the other world obviously, so that makes things different. And as Jace says in Forever Fallen, Alec killed himself undoubtedly for Magnus but because he wanted to take the secrets of the revolution with him, as well. That’s why Sebastian is angry when he finds out he’s dead.

None of that applies to their universe, it’s not that concerning.

So why Magnus is so angry? He should know his Alec wouldn’t do something like that, right?

Wrong!

Because when they discuss about this, the Lost Book of the White already happened, and that mean that this already happened.

Magnus knows that this is something his Alec would 100% do, because his Alec already did it.

Alec didn’t know he was going to survive that, he is surprised when he finds out he survived. And when this happens, they already have Max.

That’s why Magnus is so horrified of what they tell him. It isn’t another Alec in an extreme situation making a circumstancial choice. It’s Alec being Alec, in each and every universe, including their own.

And it makes him understand that this is ingrained in Alec’s nature, and that makes it so much scary, and he has to make him swear Alec understood he can’t just keep doing this, he needs to be reassured on the fact that this is not going to happen again, ever.

And it makes him reminesce about what could most likely be one of the worst moment of his life.

That’s why he freaks out like this, even if he usually brushes off scary thoughts and stressful and even life and death situations with sarcasm and funny comments.

Looking at what CC said about how something is going to happen to tmi gang in the beginning of twp, what of Sammael kidnaps them?

*TLBotW SPOILERS BELOW*

We know Sammael is the maker of ways/ devourer of worlds. We also know he wasn’t happy with how things ended in TLBotW because Shinyun took centerstage and mucked up his plans. AND we also know that he is the one gathering the Princes of Hell together to take down Lucifer.

He’s dealt with the TMI gang so it’s possible he wants to put them somewhere, where they can’t interrupt his plans again.

It’s also possible that Shinyun makes a comeback seeing how obsessive she is.

Each of the TEC books has been them searching for text. The Red Scrolls of Magic, the Lost Book of the White, and then the Black Volume Book of the Dead

So maybe they leave to go find it.

We know in TWP Shadowhunters from around the world come help & it’s very possible that Shaodwhunters from decades past are also involved so perhaps a spell from TBVBotD will help with that and that’s why the TMI gang has to disappear & deal with finding it. Or getting it back.

Or or PLOT TWIST Asmodeus sends them away cuz he’s mad that Magnus wouldn’t tell him he’s a Grandpa 😆 (sorry crack fic brain)

I really just hope that they are all safe. Especially since Max and Rafe are going to be in their early teens and more involved. I worry for them 🥺 I worry for all of them.

Can they just be portaled to safety???

I read your theory about Lucifer. Do you have others? What might be so different/interesting that what we expect? I always hope for "it is someone we already know" but idk if it's possible. How will he (?) tie with TWP?

So, finding theories about Lucifer is a bit tricky at this point since we basically know nothing about him but I tried my best.

Cassie said that Lucifer is “different” from other Princes of Hell and that he is “not who or what people think” he is. So, the things that all the other Princes of Hell have in common is that they are all pretty evil, power-hungry and selfish. That could mean that Lucifer doesn’t have those traits or it could mean Lucifer isn’t a Prince of Hell at all. And that is basically what I expect him to be: a Prince of Hell, former Angel now a demon.

(A few days ago I answered this post about Lilith’s key which will play a role now.) What if Lucifer has been on earth the entire time but as a human or some other creature. And what if he doesn’t know that he is the devil because the other Princes of Hell stole his memories and powers and locked them away. (Something clearly happened between them and the other Princes of Hell seem still pretty apprehensive towards Lucifer.) Then Lilith’s key would, in a way, still be the key to Lucifer’s prison.

 This way, Lucifer could be someone we know. Without his powers, he wouldn’t emanate this evil aura and no one, not even he, would know about his secret. He could be an old man selling paprikas for all we know.

As for when he’s going to appear, I would say definitely TWP and not TLH. The devil never made an appearance before in Shadowhunter history and I would think that at least one person in London 1903/04 would write it down should it happen. And we don’t know yet what exactly is going to happen in TWP but we do know that Sammael plans an Avenger-style attack on the Nephilim and Lucifer is part of his plans. Also, TWP is supposed to be the end of TSC so it would make sense to involve the devil. The question now is he going to be the big bad guy?
