Leonardo: Leonardo, The Leader in Blue! Although a good leader on-duty, They are a mischievous, Annoying youngest sibling off duty. Even though they can be obnoxious, Lee still cares deeply about their family and friends. They may be the leader of the group, but they aren’t necessarily the BEST person of the group. They are easily distracted, A show off, and full of themself. they’ve been trying to be more open minded and respectful about other people opinions, But as they say “People can pretend to be right, but it won’t stop me from saying they’re wrong”

Donatello: The Brains of the group! This prodigy has a special love for all things Robots, Math, science, or anything nerd related. Although he excels in his Intelligence, Socially, He lacks. Hes shy, Awkward, and has a a lack of understanding of social cues. Often staying inside and making any excuses to skip out of any surface or Undercity activities. But other than those things, Donnie is a very loyal friend and teammate. Although he may look weak, Physically hes almost as strong as Raphael, Often lifting heavy equipment and training extra hard on some days.

Michelangelo: Mikey, Mike, Lil Em, Michelle. Mikey is a man of many names and many talents. As one of the oldest siblings, He often has more freedom to do whatever he wants. Mikey uses this freedom to go out in the surface and the Undercity to mess around, collect trinkets, and most importantly, PARTY. He might be one of the oldest, but he’s definitely the most childish. Often being stubborn, joking around at the wrong times, and generally being incredibly immature. Mikey Is usually a chill guy, however he holds grudges, and he holds them tightly. Hes has also developed bad habits from someone he used to call a friend. After having a bad fight with his Ex-Best friend, Mondo, these habits only got worse, Getting an addiction to try to wash away the anger, betrayal, and emptiness that Mondo made him feel.

Raphael: Raph has always been a dreamer ever since they were little. Dreaming about one day he could go out and sing and act in the theater Down in broadway. He often dreams about going to school, making friends, and meeting people who like the same stuff as him. However she knows that might not happen due to her being a mutant, so he lets himself hopelessly dream. Although, he also finds enjoyment in fighting and beating baddies up. He also sneaks out to the surface at night to go see brodway shows. But doing that only made Raph realize…. Its dangerous going out alone…

-the fact that Big mama willingly participated in the “doom dome” and maybe even at the Nexus at one point

-the multitude of spirits seen in the s2 finale

-the hidden city seemingly being run by fear (mobsters, power, etc.)

-Baron Draxum being driven to a villain role only because he sought to protect the yokai race (he isn’t all that evil)

-Leo’s disgust of romance (…at least develop Leo into a romance role…)

-Donnie isn’t averse to EVERYTHING goopy and weird. (Like the yokai pizza he ate w/Leo in “operation: normal” and the Joey pouch he sat in with Leo in “hidden city job”)

-Sunita. look, she clearly has a taste for fashion (the fashion turtle pointed THAT out) and she chose to go into SCIENCE/biology class, out of many options. She would be besties with Donnie.

ROTTMNT: The Komodo Sisters

Oh, what's this?? An OC rewrite??? If you followed me from my previous blog, you already know Tasmin [the name is Tasmin now] is a familiar TMNT OC of mine, and yall, I missed her and this fandom sm. 😭 I decided my girl needed a re-write and character update, she deserved it. And she's also got a few new friends I'd like to introduce to you all! Featuring my take on a Rise Version of Mona!

Up until Rottmnt, the Komodo sisters other than Tasmin did not have names, as in the beginning of the TMNT franchise they were just a group of rebellious human juveniles with Tasmin as there leader- but in Rise, the roles are a bit swapped. Instead, Mona is the leader of the group and the oldest, with Madonna and Angel being three Komodo Dragon Yokai and Tasmin, the only human. She was found as a baby on the streets of New York by BG and taken under her care.

They were taught and trained under Big Mama and the hotel staff and are all vigilantes in the works. They are minor Antagonists to the Turtles when they carry out missions for Big Mama around New York or sometimes in the Hidden city when the Turtles run around having shenanigans there.

But Tasmin on the other hand is usually directly at Big Mama's side- since she's a human, Mama wants to keep her sheltered from the upside world as well as the Hidden City to keep her protected from danger. So Tasmin usually has to miss out on all of the fun whilst her sisters are out doing all the cool stuff.

But Tasmin isn't completely rendered useless, while she's also Mama's little tea maid, she's also the tech-wizz of her sisters, and uses wristbands or ear pieces to communicate or track/watch the Komodo sisters and give them information on what their mission is.

Mona is the oldest of the sisters, even if her stout and shorter appearance compared to her other sisters seems to defy that fact. But don't let her size fool you. This ball of energy can be firey - and she's a total brute who can carry things like 10× her weight. For a brutal vigilante, Mona is a very bubbly and sweet lizard who loves her sisters and is always trying her best to make them all get along. She's willing to stick up and defend her sisters for anything.

Madonna is the next oldest and is on the more contrast side of Mona. She's stubborn, aggressive, and competitive. She likes to take missions seriously and do her best to be praised and respected by Big Mama. Tasmin and Madonna have a slight sibling rift/rivalry between another, mostly because Madonna sees Tasmin as some 'golden child' who is Big Mama's favorite, making her very jealous.

Angel is the happy medium of the sisters. She's very chill, laid back, and mellow. A hippy/surfer is what the youngest of the sisters is usually called [by Madonna, mostly] with her seemingly calm and annoyingly peaceful approach to even the most intense situations. Angel tries to keep all her sisters from getting to each other's throats when things start to get rocky, making her the mediator half of the time.

And finally, Tasmin, the only human of the sisters. Tasmin is the brains of the Komodos, and uses her smarts and wits to keep her sisters on track and focusing on their missions... Even if her attempts are futile. Though she tries her best to hide it under the 'perfect' child image for Big Mama. Her competitive and rebellious spirit battles her smarts and desire obey at times, with Tasmin love for adventure and the idea of going to the upper side of the city with her sisters, sometimes it's a battle between what her heart wants an what her brain wants.

Facts♡

The sisters weapons [if not their sharp teeth, claws, and strength] are blow darts. They use their venomous spit to coat the darts as their weapons. In reality, their saliva is toxic, but in the show it just causes the victim to grow paralyzed and inebriated for a while.

Tasmins weapon of choice is what appears to be a measly staff, but with a little push of a button it transforms into a large hammer/weapon.

Dating Leonardo (Rise of the TMNT), with Ben being 17 (a few months Post Movie, when he meets Leo who’s just turned 17 in my AU). 

Ben is a 17 year old teen with crystal-forming powers inherited by his late grandmother who was half a Yokai sub-species (a Lumos). He can be quite nervous with people until he gets more confident and becomes very sarcastic but still caring. Ben & Leo met when Leo caught him when he was thrown off a building. Their relationship has a lot of teasing between the two but they have a shared love of Sci-Fi media. They can be quite lovey-dovey to each other too, with Ben being the only person Leo feels most open heart to heart with.

Hi, Sorry to bother you again but You seem to be like...a lorekeeper of TMNT 2012 Knowledge.

How the hell does Magic work in that show? I'm aware RatDad Kinda has it with the healing hands, and I also saw Shinigami has it? I don't know. I'm confused. I kinda fell off in the middle of S3 and only know stuff based off the Wiki.

First off, don't always trust the wiki. Lots of fans edit it and add false info just to push their own narrative or make ridiculous claims with no source to back it up. I also recommend checking out the rest of season 3 and onward! It does get kinda sloppy by season 4 but it's still a fun watch! Reading a wiki ain't gonna do the series justice lol

Now, to your question, imma be honest with you, regarding the magic in TMNT 2012, I really don’t know how it works XD

TMNT 2012 barely acknowledges the magic concept, granted it was a very out of no where thing like "hey magic also exist in our universe btw!" and when it does show up it’s gone before you can even process it was there so it gets forgotten quickly (at least to me when I rewatch the show).

The magic in TMNT 2012 I don’t think shows up until season 3 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) when Leo is confronted by the deer spirit in the episode Vision Quest (who btw never shows up again, put them on the list of one and done 2012 characters). After that, every other magic related thing is very subtle cause the series focuses way more on the sci-fi angle, which was the theme that was established in the first episode and was continued to be explore throughout the series. I just crack it down to it being a spiritual ninjutsu thing, but I've rarely put much thought into it.

For those who are curious, the magic and even paranormal things we see in TMNT 2012 are few but what we got are...

Though Shini and her whole magic thing is barely explored or explained. They say she's a witch but we barely see her do witchy things. Most of her tricks and techniques seem more like blink and you'll miss it magician stuff than an actual literal witch. We know she can hypnotize people and make them see scary hallucinations, and it's also suggested that she can shapeshift into a cat but she only ever does it once and it's very subtly to the point that some fans probably didn't even know that the black cat in her intro scene in her first episode was her.

Btw, according to Shinigami's concept art, her hypno stone weapon (as seen in gif) is said to be a family heirloom, meaning she comes from a supposed long line of witches and magic users. Sure wish THAT was explored more for her character instead of her just being there as Karai's hype woman and another chick for Mikey to drool over...

What is AOTTMNT?

AOTTMNT- referring to 'Adventures Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'- is a TMNT original iteration made by me. It contains the main characters and some of the sub characters of the other TMNT iterations, but designed in a different way.

Summary: The Hamato Clan is a legendary hero clan that defeated the world's greatest threat, The Spirit of Darkness, a long time ago. And now in New York, 2024, this is the story of the Hamato Quadraplets- the Hamato Clan's newest generation- growing up from immature teenage ninja mutants to legendary heroes who save the world from another great threat.

More explanations about the iteration

-The Hamato Clan is a turtle mutant clan that was chosen as The Spirit of Light's decendant and was given part of The Spirit of Light's power. Thanks to that, they are able to transform between mutant form and human form.

-Human form shields them from getting chased, hunted, abused, or experimented by humans. Mutant forms are way stronger and more useful than human form, enabling them to deal with remnants of The Spirit of Darkness.

-Every member of the clan gains a power called 'Spirital Powers', though when they gain those powers isn't specifically stated. Yoshi(=Splinter) already gained his at a young age, but the quadraplets haven't yet.

-Besides humans, non-human beings live on Earth, too. They mainly call themselves 'Yokai' or 'Other Species'. There are many other species like Ghosts, Witches, Superhuman, Mutants and stuff- it's just that humans don't know their existence. Some of those Other Species even live between humans either with the help of disguise or thanks to their appearances already resembling a human's, but no one has noticed yet.

In a world where mysticism is intertwined with modernity, four turtle brothers, trained in the ancient art of ninjutsu by their rat sensei, face a new threat. Sometimes I think about all the crossovers that acknowledge how different the Riseverse is compared to most other tmnt universes in terms of power scaling. Like Rise shredder is an ancient, centuries old demonic spirit twisted out of a lust for power that can only be defeated by the sacred magic from the bloodline that originated from it, that the boys are a part of. The Kraang are an ancient alien race accredited with the origin of yokai kind with calamity level, world-ending powers that can spread their tissue into organic and inorganic material alike until the world is remade in their image, and the Rise turtles defeated both of them.

And then I imagine them looking at 2003/SAINW, where their ‘Kraang’ is a single, tiny alien that could be thrown like a football and the Shredder (at that time) was the persona he made out of the metal armor he uses to get around. Which obviously he was and is formidable or he wouldn’t be able to take over the world and kill three out of four of the turtles plus Casey, but that is just. An entirely different ballpark compared to what the Rise boys eventually end up facing. The biggest threat if those boys ever ended up visiting the SAINWverse (closer to how Don had that what Ghost has) would be the damage such a bleak reality would do to their mental health more than anything else. So much about Ghost would suddenly make sense to them once they finish reeling from the Everything Else

(As a side note, 2012’s Shredder technically being Just Some Guy compared to both 2003 & Rise always sends me too.)

The interesting thing about this is that in 2003, the Ninja Tribunal season (5) also had Shredder being an ancient, centuries old demonic spirit twisted out of a lust for power that could only be defeated with the same training that created it.

And as for the Krang, I'd equate Rise's Krang much more to Sh'Okanabo from Fast Forward (6) than the utroms. Sh'Okanabo is also an ancient alien with calamity level, world-ending powers that can spread their infection into organics until the world is remade in his image.

If you watch the Ninja Tribunal arc, there are a LOT of things 03 has that's also in common with Rise. Demon Shredder, flame-headed lackey, Leo creating blue portals with an odachi, mystic weapons, glowing markings when you activate ninpo/chi, probably more that I'm forgetting about.

The krang arc is SO much like the kanabo arc but it's more interesting. They make the krang a threat, the infection a threat. Ironically in '03 Raph is the only one who DOESN'T get infected, whereas in Rise Raph is the only one to get infected.

Another day, another TMNT character redesigned for Mystic Forest. This Rat King is based off of the yokai Tesso, a scorned monk who became a vengeful rat spirit. I tried to keep elements of the OG rat king design while adding a flare of the original story to it.

So @cokowiii made a rise tmnt au called Spirits Reborn and I fell in love with it. Others had been making some really cool art of their ocs/sona in the world and I got thinking. It’s been in my head for some days and slowly evolved into a small Donnie-centric snippet that I will be putting under the cut (along with art of the sona remade for the au). Enjoy :D

Alright, Donnie’s lost. He’ll admit it. Nothing about this part of the forest is at all familiar. He is positive that he’s never seen that tree before. It’d be hard to forget, the trunk is short and thick with many knobs while the roots look like a tangled mess before they sink into the ground. (Actually, now that Donnie’s really looking at it, he’s not sure about the tree’s species. He had thought it was a type of oak, but now he’s not so sure. Could it be that he has discovered a new tree? Oh, he needs to document all of its characteristics so he can compare them against the trees in his encyclopedia! Oh, it would be so cool if- no wait, task at hand.) 

He’s lost. It’s fine though. The others knew he went to the forest today. Once they notice that he hasn’t returned yet, they’ll know where to search for him. 

He just had to wait in the meantime. 

…And maybe document this tree while he was at it. 

However, even his extensive data collection can only take so much time. Eventually he finds himself sitting on some of the tree's roots and staring at the dirt between his feet. 

It’s evening now. The sun will set and it will be night and he will still be lost. Logically he knows his absence would be only worrying enough for a search by the morning at the earliest. So until then, he’s on his own. In the spirit filled forest. All night. 

He wasn’t panicking. He wasn’t scared. No, no! He was-!

“Would you like some help?”

Donnie let out a (very manly thank you very much) shriek as he scrambles a few steps away from the sudden voice, turns to face it, trips over his own feet in his haste and lands on his butt. 

There, standing amongst the roots, was a spirit (or yokai? Donnie wasn’t too sure where the line was with that) he hadn’t seen before. Their head was made of blue fire with a pair of solid white eyes that stared down at him. They wore a poncho that went past their knees. It had a gradient that went from magenta to orange to a pale yellow on the bottom. They held a wooden staff, topped with a crook, that had an old, kinda mossy lantern attached to the end. The fire inside burned blue as well. In the air around them burned two more blue flames the same size as the one in the lantern. 

“Sorry.” Their eyes scrunch up in apparent apology. “I thought you heard me walk up.” 

Donnie stares dumbly at the spirit (he was going to go with spirit for now) as his heart beats like a marching band percussionist showing off. He placed a hand over his chest and took a deep breath. “I didn’t.” He said in reply to the spirit. “And what did you mean by help?”

“You’re lost.” They walked out from the tree's roots. “I help those who are lost. I can lead you to what you want or what you need.”

The ‘or’ in that statement caught Donnie’s attention. “Wouldn’t those two be the same thing in this situation? I want to get out of this forest and back home. I need to get home or I will die.”

The fire spirit shakes their head. “No, what is wanted and what is needed are not the same. Often, what is needed is more uncomfortable but helps with what is wanted in the long run.”

“Explain that to me.” Oh, that came out more demanding than he had intended. 

The spirit didn’t look offended, thankfully. “Think of it like you’re staying up later than usual to work on a project. You want to work on it because you need the thing. However, you need to sleep. You don’t want to sleep because you’re in the groove of things and stopping in the middle of a groove is hard and annoying. It helps in the long run though, since getting sleep rests your body and mind, resulting in a product that may have taken longer, but is now of higher quality. It just depends on what you feel you need to prioritize at the moment; quality or speed.”

Donnie taps a finger to his chin. “I think I get it? I know what I want, I want to get back, however, what is this thing that I supposedly need?”

The spirit shrugs, “I’m not sure, I just know the paths to take you there.”

“Hm, frustrating. Can you point out the direction my want is in.”

The spirit lifts the hands not holding their staff and points to Donnie’s left, and slightly behind. 

So that’s the way out, but Donnie is curious now. “Okay, okay, and where is my “need”?”

They point to the right, deeper into the forest and away from home. 

Donnie’s tempted. 

Logically, Donnie knows he can’t. He has too many projects, responsibilities, and people relying on him and his work. He can’t drop it all now. He’s busy.

He hesitates. He’s madly curious. His want is to go home, and his “need” leads away from it, but according to the spirit’s analogy, whatever the “need” is, it’s supposed to better the quality of the want. What could possibly be deep in the forest that can increase the quality of home? A deep, yearning part of him wants to find out. To follow the spirit deeper into the foliage to find this thing that’s apparently missing from his home. He knows that if he wasn’t so important to multiple projects, even just one or two projects less, he would give into his curiosity and (surprisingly deep) yearning. 

“As tempted as I am, I need- I have to go back.” 

The spirit nods. “Come along then.” They start walking in the direction of the want they had pointed out earlier. The floating fires seem to playfully dance around each other as they follow. 

Donnie jogs to catch up. The spirit shifts in their path slightly so they are walking side by side. 

After walking for a few minutes in silence, Donnie’s curiosity rises again. “May I ask you a few questions?”

“Certainly, go on ahead.”

“How is it that you know where to lead people but not what you’re leading them to?”

“Simple. I am the spirit of journeys, pathways, the lost. I am the guiding light. I wander the spaces in between the beginning and the destination. I travel the roads and footpaths. I come to those who call or to those who need the help.”

So he was right in his spirit assumption (and now has a few things to look up. Has this spirit guide been told of before? Did they appear in any local folklore or stories?). 

“What’s with the..” Donnie’s gestures to the two flames, one chasing the other as they quickly wind through the air in front of them. “…Fire. Things.”

The spirit laughs. “They’re sprites. They’ve decided I was cool and have tied themselves to me.” She gestures to the two sprites. “They’re called Sparks, Ember,” they then gesture to the fire in the lamp, “and Blaze.”

Donnie stares. “Why is this one contained?”

The spirit chuckles. “They like to feel important. They take turns. Sparks is next. Sometimes I do have to use it for time out, but it rarely comes to that.”

“Huh.”

Another stretch of silence. Donnie watches Sparks and Ember as he turns over the information he’s gotten so far. 

“Has there been anyone who’s want and need where one and the same?”

The spirit hums. “There’s been a lot where they were at the same place, but only only a handful have had it be the same. It’s quite rare.”

Donnie guesses that, at most, there have been five such individuals, seeing as that was how many fingers the spirit had per hand. 

“When you said you were the spirit of the lost, do you just mean physically lost or does that count in the metaphorical sense as well?”

“Sometimes.”

“Sometimes? Why sometimes?”

“It’s hard for someone to be truly so lost metaphorically that I’m needed to help guide them. They usually have some sort of direction or someone in their life who wants to help. Besides, some people who are lost in that way won’t accept any help. Ultimately it’s a choice on their part whether or not they want to be led.”

“So I could leave right now and you wouldn’t stop me?”

“I would warn you of the dangers, point you where you wish to go, but no, I wouldn’t stop you. I can’t help those who don’t wish to be helped.”

The sun has set by now. Their path being illuminated by the light of the spirit and the sprites. Donnie notes that the trees around them have been getting thinner, so definitely getting closer to the forest’s edge. 

Donnie tries not to look too deeply into the foliage. The deep darkness of the space outside the spirit’s light doing nothing to help his classic overthinking tendencies. Anything could be just out of sight. 

Donnie needs a distraction. He clears his throat. “So, uh, would the lost include, like, lost souls? The dead who can’t move on and all that jazz.”

The spirit's eyes crinkle in amusement. “No, I am no reaper. I do not guide the dead.”

“Coooool, cool, cool. So there’s no chance that I’m actually dead and this is a journey towards accepting that and moving on.”

“You are very much alive.”

“Alright, um, if someone had chosen their want or their need and changed their mind, would you guide them to their new choice?”

“Yes. Are you doubting your choice?”

“Oh no!” Donnie is quick to reassure. “No no no noooo no. Not doubting at all, nope. There’s definitely not an inexplicable yearning in my chest to turn around and go deeper into the forest. None at all! Just- was just curious is all.”

The spirit hums in acknowledgment. 

Donnie looks to the side and taps his pointer fingers together. He’s fine, he’s goooood, he’s great even. Definitely told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. 

Yep. 

…sheesh, how deep into the forest did he wander?

The spirit breaks the silence. “What's your name?”

Ah, they hadn’t done introductions. “I have many names. Othelo Von Ryan, Donatello, Don, Donnie, The Smartest Man Alive, just to list a few.” Donnie says. “And what of yourself?”

“I have been called many things. Wisp, Guide, Wanderer, The Pathwalker, Omen. Call me whatever you like.”

“Were you a good omen or a bad omen?”

“Depends on the people.”

“Right.” Donnie looks ahead. Sparks and Ember chase each other along the ground now instead of in the air. Good news for the forest, nothing is burned in their wake. 

“…Michibiku Hikari.” Donnie says. 

“Hm?” The spirit looks at him. 

He coughs into a fist. “The, uh, name to call you. Michibiku Hikari. It means guiding light. Maybe just Hikari for a nickname.”

The spirit seems to brighten. “Thank you for the name, Donatello. I will treasure it.”

The complete and utter sincerity of the gratitude made Donnie’s face feel hot and his chest near to bursting. He always felt like this when someone truly appreciated his gifts and said so to his face. It’s been a while since he’s felt this though. The high of being honestly appreciated, and just for a name that was a bit on the nose! 

They come to a stop at the tree line. Up ahead a clearing filled with the tents of the temporary base as he and his associates conduct initial surveys of the land. 

“We have arrived where you wanted to go.”

“Amazing.” Donnie whispers. He speaks up and bows to the spirit, “Thank you, Michibiku Hikari, for guiding me home.”

Hikari bows back, “It was my pleasure, Donatello. If you ever want to find what you need, simply call for me. I cannot promise an immediate response, but I will come.”

Thanks given and formalities done, Donnie straightens out, gives one last single nod, and walks to camp. The last Hikari he hears is her softly telling Blaze that it was now Sparks’ turn inside the lantern. 

The night is cold outside of Hikari’s light. Donnie folds his arms tight and speed walks to camp. He looks back once he’s at the edge of the group of tents, but no blue light comes from the forest. 

In his tent, to one side, is a small project he’d been working on. He can feel his hands itching to work on it. 

He goes to bed. In the morning, he pulls out his plant encyclopedia to uncover the species of tree he had found.
