Tywin being cartoonishly super mega evil is something that I find really funny because his tragic backstory is basically that his father was too chill 😭 like from what we know he had a good (?) relationship with his wife, 2/4 of his siblings loved him, and for decades he was the most important man in Westeros. His issues towards his papa made me go yes, and🤨? at first but I kinda get it now. Tywin has some parts of his father the way his useless blond children have parts of him. Tytos and Tywin are mother-daughter coded in a I’m all you could’ve been and your all I might be kinda way and I’ve always believed that it’s impossible to hate a parent for their way of being without hating yourself a little too so by that made up logic Tywin probably hates himself to a level that is not comprehensible to most humans minds

Bertoldo di Giovanni's "Young Philosopher/Platonist"**

If I got this right, I believe this is the only known portrait of Giovanni Cavalcanti. He is dressed as Plato's Phaedrus (because of course he is) and the bust was made circa 1470 when he would have been around 26. The description, depending on the source, will also sometimes include the note that this is Marsilio Ficino's "special friend".

**addenda: the Bargello has the artist as Donatello, though most everywhere else I look has it as Bertoldo. That said, Bertoldo may or may not have been his pupil/working in the workshop/somehow associated with him so I can see the reason for potential confusion about attribution

If you really want to make a somewhat hamfisted expression of why I hate modern Batman, just shove The Batman from post crisis comic books up against the villians of the 1950s and 60s. That would really make things black and white. If we let modern Batman loose in the world of Batman 1966, I think all of the villains would be beaten half to death. Because Batman and Wolverine are like watered down versions of The Punisher. They're rugged figures that seem to embody toxic masculinity. That's a topic for another post soon, though. For now, let's leave it on "Batman of the modern era would be The Punisher to silver age Batman, and that's an egregious sin."
