saw someone being wrong about kon on the internet again (i know. shocking) and you are all so lucky i'm sick and feverish and lazy because i DID just seriously entertain the thought of writing up a small essay complete with issue and panel citations about why it's simply incorrect to say that kon never really seemed to reciprocate any sort of crush on tim before geoff/tt03. this is just not true. you dont have to actually ship them but to downplay their importance to each other even in the earliest days is simply incorrect. i'm too tired and achy to bother digging through comics to pull up all the issues that have the bits i want to point at but like... they were both very mutually important to each other from early on. it was in no way shape or form one-sided, whether you want to read that as platonic or romantic. man.

As a distrustful ocxcanon consumer, in any fandom, if a character has a canon relationship or is very related to character X, I try to stay away from making Selfship with them.

Even though I see that Levi doesn't have a love interest in canon, so I do Selfship with him and consume content about them, including your articles, some shipper say that even though Levi ships are not canon, there is actually a subtext in their relationship, and they claim that Isayama doesn't show it openly because he is afraid of the fans. Or they say that even if that ship is not canon, Levi cares about character X more than anyone else, and that he would have so much compassionate feelings for him that he would drive humanity to hell.

Even though I thought they were just exaggerating and I ignored them, this last statement impresses me because in canon, Levi's actions and the fact that half of the character arc is about character X, and also the side materials, Va's, Isayama interviews, whenever Levi is mentioned, I feel like half of it is always about X, and I feel like they're always trying to insert X somehow. Yes, Levi doesn't have a canon romantic relationship, but I have a hard time imagining him as an independent, equal man based on these things, and I have a hard time building scenarios about him. Sorry for writing so much nonsense. One thing I want to say is that I envy your guys for not worrying about it and having fun with your own content. I wish I could be like your guys and not worry about it so much and have my own fun.

Anon your feelings are valid and I completely understand that it can get frustrating. It bothered me when I first got into the fandom and I don't shy away from that fact. 🤷🏼‍♀️

However, Isayama has never been the one to shy away from making his actual couples canon, never. 'Subtext' being something shippers use doesn't surprise me at all, since most of the times it's nothing. Using subtext for a ship is dumb, I said this before, If we go by subtext, hell even Eren and Levi can be read to have something romantic in that sense which,of course, they don't haha.

As for the interviews, Isayama's editor himself told the fans not to take interviews as strictly canon and any actual interview I have heard from Isayama, he never talked about Levi with anybody in a romantic way. As for the side materials, there's again, nothing romantic about it. Hell, there are side materials for every single Levi "ship", shippers often just choose and pick what they want from these materials, anon. And Va's interviews are interesting because Levi's VA apparently stated at one point that he thinks Erwin and Levi aren't even friends, just comrades. Most interviews on here are badly translated or shippers just pick and choose what they want to hear and twist words.

I'll assume that when you say "X" you're talking about Erwin and I can't deny that Erwin was a very important person to Levi and his death was one of the main plots of the story, however, this isn't by any means because Levi was in love with Erwin or had some sort of secret romantic relationship going on with him or because Erwin was Levi's "most important" person. Levi saw Erwin as a guiding light for his strength, he believed that Erwin can show him how to help people, save humanity. They both had so much respect for each other. He was his friend and comrade, that's a strong relationship but not at all a romantic one. Levi's character arc was never about Erwin, if you think that way, maybe you should pay more attention to the canon manga and the anime instead of listening to what people on the internet say anon, Levi is his own character, it was never about Erwin only.

Levi is his own character, he cares about all of his friends and comrades equally. So anon, you should have fun, let yourself enjoy Levi's character because he doesn't have a love interest because the simple truth is, if Isayama wanted Levi to have something romantic with Erwin, Hange, Petra, whoever. He would've done that but he didn't because again, Levi doesn't have a lover and doesn't need one.

It's been years.

Naruto was the anime that marked my childhood.

Bleach marked my teens.

I can't deny how invested I was at one point. Speculating like crazy because of the interactions, chemistry and overall bond that Ichigo and Rukia shared.

For years I watched their relationship be depicted closer. The way Tite would draw their eyes fixated on one another with so much emotion. Always in each other's immediate mind. Always drawn together in spreads and promotional covers.

For years, I thought I was blessed to watch their constant evolution as their relationship grew larger and more intricate. I thought, that they for sure would end up together. Because no friendship with that level of love for one another ends in just a simple "friendship" At a certain point, their interactions stopped being overly silly and comedic and the serious, emotional dial was cranked up to 100.

But obviously it didn't end that way.

Seriously, no hate towards Orihime. I think the character is very sweet. Same with Renji. But, looking back, their characters were always the ones with the unrequited love.

There was a point in the story in wich Renji let go of his feelings and moved on and same with Orihime. I don't remember with every exact detail when but I do remember I sensed the shift.

After that, I don't remember any important interaction between Renji and Rukia or Ichigo and Orijime that would make me think those feelings where still there. Or that they where even reciprocated.

Onwards from there, the road had seemed cleared for IchiRuki and that's why the ending of Bleach hit me so hard in the brain.

It felt so.... off.

There's no years worth of content. No countless interactions filled with trust and support. No several looks filled with warmth and longing. No teasing, gentle smiles or overwhelming emotions between the couples who ended up being Canon, atleast in my opinion.

Not when you compare between them and Ichigo and Rukia.

I remember from time to time, the scene where they both think they will never see each other again. That Ichigo would no longer be able to percieve her at all. How much pain, longing and just... love was contained in their eyes. When she started to fade and jerked her head upwards to meet his eyes in such a way.... It's like she wanted to reach out to him, say something but couldn't. Because she is ultimately bound by Tite's limits.

I wonder now.... if that's when he changed his mind, for whatever reason that I, to this day can't seem to sense from the rest of the story.

I wonder if that was his way of saying goodbye. I wonder if that was his way to close that possibility off in an emotional and respectful manner.

Bleach is getting its final arc animated and it's supposed to come out later this year. I'm not... sure if I want to watch it.

Thing is, if Tite really meant that scene as his own private goodbye, then maybe he shouldn't have kept pairing them up afterwards in the very same way as before.

Even to this day, promotional materials and special illustrations are still depicting them together. Even knowing the outcome.

Some people may think not watching a show because your ship didint end up Canon is immature and that why the heck would I care so much about characters being together in a Shonen.

But Bleach is different. Because A LOT of its plot, subject and story rides on Ichigo's and Rukia's relationship. It's not a side story thing and it's not a background filler. It's very much ingrained in the main storyline. Over and over again.

That's why the ending feels so unfaithful. Offbeat.

I chose not to regard it too much. Rather, I prefer to reminisce on the slowly building bond between them. Because that's not erased by the ending.

I guess, I will forever be sour on the fact they work so good together and that for me, it's just a bummer that they can never officially give fruit to years of blooming relationship and chemistry.

Truly an example of something just "meant to be" but will never get to.

Right now, for my life, I prefer to focus on things that can be.

New canon obx details from the Pogue Life Scrapbook Hardcover (part 1)

So this book is basically set up as if it's the pogues making a scrapbook of their lives with cute little graphics and handwritten details. Each pogue (including Sarah) has their own section where the content is more skewed toward them, but all of the other pogues write stuff in the margins, and their comments honestly read pretty in-character (at least imo).

According to the author, Joey Elkins, he was asked by the creators to write it, and he was also the script coordinator for season 1, which is why i feel like it's safe to say that the details in the book are supposed to be canonical.

((Throughout this entire book, they pretend that all of the events in the show have happened in 2019 instead of 2020, which is so unnecessarily annoying but yeah i'm just gonna try to shift the years accordingly))

So, I already said that this blog will be dedicated to sasodei. For the most part, I created this blog to show their canonicity. If you are careful, then their reverent attitude towards each other becomes very obvious. Therefore, Sasodei is quite popular. Especially in Japan, among all Naruto's ships, Sasodei is the seventh most popular. And the bottom line is that they don't just look good with each othee. These relationship is multifaceted, based on trust and concessions due to affection for each other.Throughout the anime, they develop

as characters thanks to each other. Their relationship is multifaceted and interesting. Their interaction every time shows the struggle of their life choices between attachment to each other. They are two people who have felt the same pain and loneliness. They seem to be different, but are very similar. Their philosophy is both opposed and complementary; they are two people who understand each other and at the same time oppose. They are the only attachments in each other's life.They are a student and a teacher. A protector and a boy who needs the attention of his Master. They are rivals and irreplaceable people for each other. One cannot can not be the same without the other. All their development revolves around each other (especially the development of Deidara as a character). They had strong feelings for each other, but they did not accept them due to personal internal conflicts. The conflict of each was symbolized by their "art". After Edo Tensei, when they accepted the truth and nothing prevented them from expressing their feelings, it was too late. They were dead.

In Japan, Sasodei is considered canon. Since both in the anime and in the manga, we saw the manifestation of feelings, care and trembling for each other, but did not see physical actions from their sides, I myself considere them a half canon ship.

All this is what their relationship is based on. That is why they have become attached to each other. But many do not notice it all. Therefore, this blog started. How did I come to Sasodei?

I watched Naruto this year and discussed all my thoughts with my friend, who is a huge Naruto fan and who loved this anime for like 5 years. I was on Sasori and Deidara's filler series and wrote to him, "God, I can't believe how much these two complement each other. How unique and beautiful their relationship is." Moreover, at this time I did not even think of them as a ship. I just saw two characters that are made for each other. A friend of mine wrote to me as a joke "What if you start shipping them?" After that, I just wondered if there was such a ship? And there certainly was. It all started with interest. So, I googled Sasodei and started collecting information about them. I learned that Sasodei is a canon ship in Japan and that Kishimoto said that "they had something for each other." From that moment on, I thought if i was inattentive. Yes, even then I saw that they were ideal for each other, but this is not enough to defend this ship as canon. I thought maybe I was just not paying attention? So,I rewatched Naruto, analyzed Sasori and Deidara as characters. Their warm and unique relationship to each other became apparent. And that was true.I even know why many of us simply do not notice their connection and affection for each other. ☝️ Firstly, when there are characters who openly shout about their feelings and demonstrate them (like Naruto himself), you lose the habit of being attentive to the interaction of characters and understand their relationship with others with the help of psychology and the type of the character who they are.Sasodei is such a ship. There is a certain understatement in their relationship. Silent and quiet understanding of each other. After all, both Sasori and Deidara have their own philosophy that goes against their affection. Accordingly, they will not openly show their feelings. Especially Sasori. He often covers his concern for Deidar with anger and various excuses. By this they remind me of Sasuke. These characters have disowned people for their own principles and got confused themselves. Sasuke wants to kill Naruto in order to renounce his attachment to him. Sasori tries to push Deidara away with his rude behavior. Have you noticed that Sasori is polite and even nice to everyone? With everyone except Deidara. (But he called Kankur a cute kohai, and a minute later he poisoned him).

✌And secondly, let's be honest. When you watch shippuden for the first time, you think what will happen to Gaara and when you will see Sasuke . And the new characters of the third plan do not focus on themselves.

So, then,I saw their attitude towards each other and that they really are one of the most grounded couples in Naruto. And from that moment, after I saw their validity, I began to ship them (yes, I do not like unreasonable and non-canon couples. This is important to me. That is why I plunged into Sasodei only after I saw that are reaoen).

But many do not notice this. Although sometimes it's obvious. Because sometimes, people who are simply not attentive speak absurdities. It's so absurd, for example, to say that Sasori doesn't trust Deidara. Yes, there are different interpretations. But there are facts that cry out for mutual trust. And in this case, to deny these facts is simply stupid. But in most cases, people do not reject these facts, but simply do not notice or see them. so do you ship ushioi because its abusive? because all the fics are bad yaoi tropes and super fucked up and it proves people into rivals want shitty relationships. i can't even go into how many problems are in all the fics that people think make the ship good.

I haven’t checked my inbox in forever, so I’m guessing this is from August when I posted that ushioi oneshot. Regardless, I’m too old to argue with anyone on the internet, so I’m just going to give some of my opinions about ushioi instead.

I’ve always posted mostly iwaoi here, but you guys need to know that Ushijima is one of my favorite characters ever. I’d definitely rank him in my top five; probably top three. He’s gotten a bad rep from some people because they see him as one-dimensional, as if his only character traits are being better than Oikawa at volleyball and harassing him about going to Shiratorizawa:

1. Ushijima is an amazing player. He’s put just as much time and effort into the game as Oikawa has. It’s not as if he was a born champion with a destiny to crush Oikawa at everything he does. They have the same goal, which is something they have in common.

2. Ushijima said the Shiratorizawa thing to Oikawa one time. One Time. And he didn’t say it because he thinks he’s better than Oikawa, or to demean him. He sees Oikawa’s value as a player and wanted him to be in the best environment for his personal growth, and as he’s come so far with his own team, he obviously thinks Shiratorizawa would be the best place for him. Also, he probably wants to know what it’s like having a setter like Oikawa on his side of the court, since he’s very different from Semi or Shirabu. Obviously Oikawa took offense, but he didn’t think about the remark from Ushijima’s perspective, and Ushijima didn’t think of Oikawa’s when he said it.

And yeah, in canon, Oikawa does not like Ushijima. He makes it very clear. But to be fair, Oikawa has a very limited perception of Ushijima as a person. He’s only seen him from the other side of the net, and on those occasions, his team has lost. Of course he’s developed bitter feelings as a result. Those feelings would be hard to get over, considering how much he cares about getting his team to Nationals and the personal guilt of failing to do so.

But these kids are in high school. if our attitudes and opinions never changed from the way we were in high school, the world would be horrifying. More horrifying than it already is. I don’t know about you guys, but my high school self was not a mature, completely developed human being. I was an idiot and I had a lot of stupid opinions that I later changed. It’s part of growing up. 

Sure, maybe Oikawa will continue to hate Ushijima forever. As of right now we don’t have any canon material to confirm or deny that. But in my humble opinion as a creator, and as someone who has devoted years to this fandom, the two of them have far too much potential as characters to hold onto their high school grudges and stereotypes forever. There’s a lot of potential for a good dynamic between them, whether it’s post-canon or in an AU (or even in actual canon, in some cases). If they got to know each other better - really know each other, as people, not as players - I think they’d have a much different opinion of one another. Oikawa especially.

TLDR; I ship Ushioi. I ship Iwaoi. I ship too many Haikyuu pairings to list. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and if someone doesn’t like a certain ship, it’s their prerogative to avoid it and enjoy a different one.

dgsjdgsdlgk jokes aside pal, you’re not alone in this!! i used to be fine w sk (and i still am totally okay with people shipping it) but after canon established certain things about their relationship i’m not really comfortable thinking about them together that way anymore. with that said, i truly do not think it’s being set up to be canon. part of the sk fandom has developed a weird, obsessive conviction that their ship will go canon, similar to That part of the kl fandom, so a lot of the content floating around tumblr is deliberately cherrypicked to make the framing seem romantic when it’s really, really not. not saying you can’t read romance into it -- they’ve got chemistry for sure -- but objectively, it’s just not in the cards.

here’s some reassurance for u why sk will Not go canon!

voltron is a show for kids aged 7 and up, which means there are themes that would be acceptable in a show for adults that are simply too mature for this material deal with. romantic sk would deal with a LOT of such themes.

for instance, shiro has been shown onscreen in an instructor/teaching position to a class keith was in, and has continued being a mentor/guiding light to keith even in current canon. while there are tons of YA novels and stuff where older teens get it on with their teachers/authority figures, it’s, um, not very common for the younger demographic. (inb4 “keith’s the leader now not shiro so he’s not an authority figure anymore”: take your navel gazing technicalities elsewhere and use some common sense bls.)

keith has referred to shiro as being “like a brother to me” and said “you’re my brother, i love you” (bc yes, people do in fact say "i love you" every day and mean it platonically, regardless of what the fandom tries to tell you -- “i love you” is not romantically coded lol wtf). while i absolutely do not condone shoving these lines in shippers’ faces to make them feel bad about their ship, they’re still explicit canon. we haven’t been shown anything that indicates keith’s saying it to deny his feelings in some way. like, by the time katara said aang was like a brother to her, aang had been shown to have a crush on her from day one. the set up is entirely different.

going off both the above points, krolia also thanked shiro for helping raise keith. now, obviously, shiro didn’t rear him from the time he was a baby, but he was the adult figure in keith’s life during his adolescence and formative years. i believe i’ve also seen word of god that confirms this. a young twenty-something seems very adult to a preteen/young teen. sending the message that the trusted adults around you will end up as your romantic partner one day is... probably not something the show intends to do.

voltron is a MAINSTREAM kids’ show. the mainstream is not tumblr. it does not -- and often cannot -- correspond to tumblr levels of progressiveness. the crew had to fight to get shiro confirmed mlm. they’ve mentioned they had to be adamant, no pun intended, to make sure adam was acknowledged as shiro’s boyfriend and not just his “roommate”. making one main character mlm is already a HUGE step. two characters would be nearly unheard of -- especially two members of the main cast in a relationship with each other. like, don’t get me wrong: i want to live in the world where we can have that. but we aren’t there yet. we just aren’t.

which btw is why NO gay ships between any paladins will be canon. any same-sex romance will be between a paladin and a side character, as we’ve seen with adam. and THAT’S the tea.

2) everything points at charinia, while they have nothing other than ‘oh but everything can happen, Nina can still end up with Azaz*l’. They’re mad, because they assumed on their own that Azaz*l was the main hero in VS, so of course he’d get the girl, but then they’ve been constantly proven wrong and people don’t like to be proven wrong. So they cling to their misconceptions and biases, because at this point it’d be humiliating to admit the other side may have been right all along, especially

3) when they consider us cocky and arrogant. So just ignore the hate. Block more toxic people for your own mental safety. Or just let them hate only to drink their tears when every single hope of theirs gets crushed by canon. We have done nothing wrong. Whenever there’s a post trying to explain - and not excuse, explain - Charioce’s behaviour in the most civil and placid way, it isn’t overflowed by unrelated comments of any kind. I wish there was more posts of this kind in the main tag. And also about different topics more plot related, but yeah

Last but not the least, two things I really have close to my heart (and here I’m gonna quote my previous tags):

1)Everyone. can. ship. the fuck. they want.Everyone. can. like. the fuck. they want.Az*z*l. and. charioce. are. at the same. level. No one of them is better than the other in the ethical way. Period.2)Karma is not justice. I repeat, karma is not justice. If Az is having his karma in s2, that’s not as he’s been forgiven for what he did. He still did what he did.So, why it’s okay to like him, but liking Charioce isn’t? What makes you think Az wouldn’t kill and slave humans back in s1? He killed Favaro and Kaisar’s fathers, and I believe he’s still not sorry for that (which is definitely as it should be, knowing his character and all. And on a side note, I like him for who he is! Really!)

**TL;DR**: There’s no meaning to all of this. Shit storming on Az or Char is nonsensical, seen that they pretty much resemble each other, and it’s the same with shit storming on ships. 

Idek how many times more I have to repeat myself, but letting things flow it’s the solution. Ever. And after this post I’ll probably do so. Black list, black list everything. Block who you should block, let this craziness cease.

**VERY IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE**: I’m intentionally not tagging this with the main tag. I don’t want to spread the nth discussion. I appreciated the anon, it helped me move on from my sadness that’s it. I’m not even try to be “the good one” here, because there’s no need for that. So. No more bulshitting and fighting from both sides, okay?

I completely understand we all (as the whole fandom) get defensive when we feel pushed or mistreated, but if we ourselves don’t want to stop this from the start, it will never end.
