maybe like. the tape with mark actually in it, aka the last one, has semi corrupted footage
whether from marks presence or the mcpd attempting to cover it up, damians voice and the audio stutters and stops at random points and the video gets stuck on a frame where you can see marks eye looking down, still being able to hear damians demise amongst the wailing yells of fury
YEAH!
Like the footage cuts in and out. From when he first sees mark, to when he starts running
OH maybe the last section is audio only. And you can only hear distorted screaming from both Damian and Mark-

hey tibby, i got two questions about saw for you. firstly, when do you think the saw movies take place? like what specific year/s? i know theres a few writing errors when it comes to years in the franchise (the tag on jigsaw’s foot at the autopsy, for example) so i’m just trying to see what would make sense despite these errors.
also. what would the spiral killers role be in Jigsaw the family sitcom (more important than the other question)
i am a firm "saw the first movie takes place in 2004" believer. yeah yeah the idea of it happening the day before 9/11 is funny but it doesn't work with the few established dates we do have (gideon night takes place in late october of 2006, hoffman's sister is murdered in 1997 and baxter is released from prison after five years which makes hoffman's revenge kill and recruitment from john in 2002 at the EARLIEST, trying to include a coherent timeline of events by including jigsaw is impossible but fwiw logan was in the iraq war. i think. i don't remember the movie). also the idea that amanda and john manually set up the phone to that date just to fuck with them is also very funny to me. and my research suggests that the motorola used was released in q4 of 2001, which means it came out in october at the earliest. but nothing is conclusive and i respect all walks of life etc etc.
generally though from the time amanda is recruited (april 2004, because i do believe bathroom trap takes place in september regardless of the year and lawrence mentions being interviewed by police five months prior) through to the end of the final chapter (late 2006) it's like a 2.5 year time frame. nerve gas house takes place at least a year after bathroom trap, gideon night is six months after nerve gas house, and the events of v/vi/vii shortly follow. again, no canon confirmation, but given strahm's throat is still bandaged in v we can assume his tracheotomy wasn't that long ago and he dies like the day after being discharged from the hospital. and then hoffman's vi/vii clownery is like two nights back to back. so that's that. early to mid 2000s over a three year time period.
unfortunately the spiral killers don't really play a big role in jigsaw the sitcom simply because it takes place like 15-20 years later. which is a tragedy because i think jigsaw fanboy william emmerson/schenk having the worst "don't meet your heroes" experience of all time only to not learn from it is hilarious to me. i did vaguely conceptualise an episode where he starts his silly little copycat killings and they have to come out of retirement to trap his ass because oh now we gotta be responsible for this clown. and william really does think it's an honour that a bunch of middle aged retired murderers have reunited just to torture him.
my beloved dizzy did write a fic about this concept (not sitcom nonsense but adam/amanda/hoffman live and william loves team maim and kill). unfortunately my concept of retired-but-still-completely-off-their-rockers hoffstrahm (they're NOT dating and they're absolutely NOT married and strahm is still trying to prove hoffman is guilty and hoffman still plans on killing him one day but they do live together and have weird gay sex and are trying to figure out how to get married for tax benefits without actually getting married) having a honey where IS my supersuit moment from the incredibles about the glass coffin didn't make the cut. but we can imagine it <3
they also all try to impart "queer elder wisdom" (see: absolutely horrendous dating tips) onto william to help him with zeke. unfortunately he takes their word as gospel. hence the whole "torturing you and sending you body parts" stage of the flirting process. it's dawning on me that this message is completely incomprehensible i'm sorry. missed saying absolute nonsense about these movies to a public audience.

Today, I’d like to share one of Mark Lewisohn’s most entertaining fucked-up citations. This citation, Tune In 13-23, contains a rare example of Lewisohn almost saying something correct/insightful about Paul McCartney before hopelessly fumbling, as well as a far-less-rare example of Lewisohn correcting Paul on a bit of trivia while simultaneously mangling the source material. Here’s the text of the endnote itself:
Tumblr media
In pink, Lewisohn lets us know that Paul, reflecting in the ‘90s on the events of 1960, did not correctly remember the name of the host. This is fine—I don’t take issue with Lewisohn correcting things the Beatles misremembered—but it’s very funny to see him correcting a bit of minutiae in the citation for two quotes he altered or misrepresented.
In yellow, we have what seems, on the surface, to be an actual insight about Paul: “Paul sometimes says ‘we’ in interviews when he means ‘I.’” This isn’t a paradigm-bending revelation—I’m sure my mutuals are all very aware of this habit of Paul’s—but it’s an insight nonetheless.
Or it would be, if this wasn’t said in relation to a quote where Paul clearly means himself and another person. So close, Mark! From Tune In:
Tumblr media
Teenage Paul, out of his depth at a college party, pretends to be a singing Frenchman, creating ‘Michelle’ in the process. The first quote, the one where Lewisohn asserts Paul is using “we” in the singular sense, is from the Anthology (2000, p.198):
Tumblr media
Do y’all see the problem here? “It was very sophisticated for me and George, so we were trying to hang in there and pretend we knew what was going on.” Emphasis added by me, just in case Mr. Lewisohn is reading and needs a little help.
This is not Paul saying “we” but meaning “I.” This is Paul explicitly stating how he and George felt. And like?????? The “clarification” Lewisohn provides in the endnote is completely unnecessary to begin with. There’s no reason to say Paul means just-him in this quote, unless Lewisohn is worried John will get lumped in with Paul’s loser teenager behavior. In that case, instead of lying and saying Paul actually meant just-Paul here, why not mention that George was at the party and out of his depth as well? Why do this??????
Onto Many Years From Now (1997):
Tumblr media
The quote itself isn’t too altered. Lewisohn fails to mark the omission after “It was” with an ellipsis, but that’s small potatoes for him. The Irritating thing here was brought to my attention be @mythserene: even though Paul mentions three specific influences on his wannabe French style (Sacha Distel, Juliette Greco, and Maurice Chevalier), Lewisohn invokes an entirely different Frenchman, Jacques Brel.
With Lewisohn’s phrasing, he’s not incorrect. If Paul said “Joey Fatone and Justin Timberlake were huge influences on my choice to get frosted tips in 2001,” it wouldn’t be wrong to describe his appearance as “Lance Bass-esque.” But if you’re writing a musician’s biography, and that musician has named specific influences on their music or presentation, why would you not invoke those influences when the opportunity arises? Isn’t it more work—and less informative—to dig up some fourth French guy to slot in here instead?
Lewisohn thinks it’s worth the readers time to know that Paul forgot who hosted a party he attended as a teenager, at the same time putting in effort to avoid mentioning Paul’s stated influences.

The "Brat Pack" Max Papis, Tony Kanaan, Dario Franchitti, Greg Moore
Dario is now a senior member of the paddock, an advisor for Ganassi and coach, often more like a father/uncle figure, to their new young drivers. But in his youth in the 1990’s he was a wild child, a member of Cart’s “Brat Pack”, prone to staying up all night partying yet still winning races. He almost won the championship in 1999 but lost in the finale only to be told after the race that his best friend, and fellow member of the “Brat Pack”, Greg Moore had died.
He made the switch to IRL which became Indycar, in 2003, although injuries and recovering from those injuries kept him out of the car most of that year. He recovered and then began the epic prank era at Andretti Green races with his teammates on the way to his first Indy 500 win and his first Indycar championship in 2007. He decided to give NASCAR a try in 2008.
(We don’t talk about the NASCAR year)
He came back at Ganassi in 2009 and proceeded to win three championships in a row (and two more Indy 500s) while becoming the elder statesman of the series. But all of this success was not without sorrow and near disaster. The loss of Dan Wheldon hit him hard. He and his former teammate were still close friends. Another crash and the subsequent injures forced him into retirement in late 2013
He is a prime example of why we don't leave decisions on their fitness to race up to the drivers anymore, suffering more than his fair share of injuries in his career (see list above) and continuing to race when he definitely should not have.. One might call it a lack of survival instinct, which to be honest, most drivers lack, but Dario lacks it to an alarming degree. He is at risk of permanent paralysis and brain damage in the event of another major crash, yet still races vintage/historic cars on occasion, particularly at Goodwood.
I would be remiss not to mention his Scottish accent, thick dark hair that is silvering at the temples and still fit physique. He’s lost none of the charm of his youth and perhaps gained more now at the age of 50.

THE MOST ENTERTAINING FICTION OR PART-FICTION OR FACTUAL DILIP KUMAR STORY NEVER TOLD! .. ‘KHALIFA PE PATTHAR KA SAAYA!’
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many of us have heard of the story roaming the airs, since mid 1960's (1964-65), of Dilip Kumar & his tryst with the law.
Below is the full rumored account, whatever be the facts:
👇
https://www.facebook.com/292543404416746/posts/1267258656945211/?extid=5duUJptrnGjOfz5G&d=n
But given as no news filtered through from any official channels, nor any professional newspaper write-ups available for reference, one didn't bother to delve deeper much.
Till chanced upon this interview, (perhaps one of the very last interviews of Dilip Kumar, in his non-incoherent state), from as late as the year 2000-2001, upon being conferred Pakistan's highest civilian award, & the controversy around it.
Watch the last 5 mins of this interview, when the host, then journo Rajiv Shukla, openly on national TV (Dhanak TV) asks Dilip Kumar, about those oft-rumored tales from the early 60s! And here is the official answer from the horses' mouth himself, for the only time, atleast for one part of the rumor, as didn't stay in a consciously coherent state all 22 yrs thereafter to repeat it again or clarify further.
👇
(Watch from 16:00-19:10 of this 2000 Rajiv Shukla intv) 2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw4TX9dmFZg
So here's what transpired per events narrated to us, altogether, roughly:
A man is arrested on suspicion of being a Pakistani spy, & from his diary are recovered the names of Bimal Roy, Dilip Kumar & Mehboob Khan, these 3 the man confesses to have helped him in his spying. So Calcutta police organize a raid or perhaps send a word to Bombay police to co-ordinate. Now turns out Indian Intelligence agencies on a parallel investigation, are also on the look out for a radio transmitter transmitting signals to a contact in Pakistan, that signal originating from a location somewhere in then Bombay. All collected information, including the fact that Dilip Kumar's brother had just then migrated to Pakistan, encourages them to raid the house of Dilip Kumar, & the device, whatever that is, too is recovered from him. The legend confesses that the device is his but that it's merely a Pakistani radio to hear banned Pakistani radio programs & ghazals & songs.
But does a radio really transmit signals to other nations too? We don't know. Infact we don't know about the veracity of this whole part of the story itself, except for fact that a raid was conducted at his house, as acknowledged by Dilip Kumar himself in above intvw as having been conducted at behest of a minister, all transmitter matters aside, for which no official or first hand accounts are available.
But why our suspicions get exacerbated over the transmitter issue, is how these accusations of him being a Pakistani spy are raised as a question again & again by journos, in one below instance by Pak journos themselves when in Pak to receive his Pakistan Ratna, (Since the entire controversy then hinged on why a Indian citizen was being conferred the Nishan-e-Imtiyaz, reserved specifically for outstanding services to the nation of Pakistan, people not just in India but also in Pakistan hence in quandary over what exact services had Dilip Kumar rendered to Pakistan in particular to deserve this honor). And except for the above occasion where tries to partially clarify, & seemingly goofs up big time, he tries to avoid answering the question every time, including here, on the transmitter controversy, which he easily could’ve settled by issuing an outright denial. Why didn’t he ever do so despite receiving numerous opportunities? Was he afraid his explanations would only make his case worse, hence better to be avoided totally, Nehru not around?
👇
(Watch 1:05:22-1:08:22 of this 1998 Moin Akhtar & Group intv)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIG06e8GWws
Btw, his father was deep proponent of Caliphate Raj in world ie all Muslims in any country under one Caliphate flag, alongside Ali Bros in 1920s, & he it’s big fan. 👇 (Watch 4:30-5:30 of this Ashfaq Hussain intv from 1985) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gxzUSvE2nY
Anyway, so the above is the police version or rumored version (since we don't have the actual official police account, if at all). ('Tis said this news appeared for a month in newspapers of the day too, though no clippings available from then). But hereon is per Dilip Kumar's own video testimony, of how he then rushes to PM Nehru, & Nehru swiftly issues an all-clear in writing, & the entire matter is put to rest.
And the story, true or not, we then get to hear, from Dilip Kumar, of how that man caught in Calcutta, was a Dhaka resident, who was sent with a recommendation letter by Bimal Roy's wife, as Bimal Roy's picture had already finished by then (whether that man worked in Bimal Roy's unit too, or how Mrs Bimal Roy knew this Pakistani man enough to send with a spl recommendation for an ordinary production unit job to Dilip Kumar no less, we don't know) to Dilip Kumar's film unit (he was producing the Nitin Bose directed Gunga Jumna then, so we guess the year is maybe 1960), upon which was hired in Dilip's production unit, from where he then goes on to work with Mehboob Khan (for his last produced film 'Son of India' released in 1962, we guess), then makes his way to take up no smaller a job than the private tutor of the daughter of a Session's Court Judge no less! And since the daughter is mature, who also then elopes with him to Calcutta, we guess he must be tutoring this girl from a very educated background, graduation subjects at the very least, how he got this most unique post, whether vetted by the judge or not to come to his house to teach this stuff, or whether even remotely qualified for it, we shall never know as well. But since the 2 elope, the insinuation is that the Calcutta police may perhaps have framed him in a false case on pressure from the judge, leading to the suicide note & all these big name confessions?
But since no further discussion or probe was allowed thereafter, nor do we get to hear from the other 2 film stalwarts named in the supposed police diary, Mehboob Khan & Bimal Roy, both passing away in May 1964 & Jan 1966 resp., the entire huge drama dissipates for all official purposes.
Dilip Kumar gets married, & all’s forgotten!
Relegated to mere pages on the filmy annals of time, but page-turners at that!

Scary movies that have scarred me
Why did these films scare me?
Probably because I had unrestricted access to the internet (and TV) as a child
The Shining (1980)
'Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) becomes winter caretaker at the isolated Overlook Hotel in Colorado, hoping to cure his writer's block. He settles in along with his wife, Wendy (Shelley Duvall), and his son, Danny (Danny Lloyd), who is plagued by psychic premonitions. As Jack's writing goes nowhere and Danny's visions become more disturbing, Jack discovers the hotel's dark secrets and begins to unravel into a homicidal maniac hell-bent on terrorizing his family.'
An American Werewolf in London (1981)
'Two American college students on a walking tour of Britain are attacked by a werewolf that none of the locals will admit exists.'
Hellraiser (1987)
'A woman discovers the newly resurrected, partially formed, body of her brother-in-law. She starts killing for him to revitalize his body so he can escape the demonic beings that are pursuing him after he escaped their sadistic underworld.'
Candyman (1992)
'The Candyman, a murderous soul with a hook for a hand, is accidentally summoned to reality by a sceptic grad student researching the monster's myth.'
Ringu (1998)
'Reiko Asakawa is researching into a 'Cursed Video' interviewing teenagers about it. When her niece Tomoko dies of 'sudden heart failure' with an unnaturally horrified expression on her face, Reiko investigates. She finds out that some of Tomoko's friends, who had been on a holiday with Tomoko the week before, had died on exactly the same night at the exact same time in the exact same way. Reiko goes to the cabin where the teens had stayed and finds an 'unlabeled' video tape...'
Battle Royale (2000)
'In the future, the Japanese government captures a class of ninth-grade students and forces them to kill each other under the revolutionary "Battle Royale" act.'
Jeepers Creepers (2001)
'A brother and sister driving home through isolated countryside for spring break encounter a flesh-eating creature which is in the midst of its ritualistic eating spree.'
Ju-On: The Grudge (2003)
'In a Japanese house, a vengeful spirit goes after one person after another, each suffering a horrible death.'
One Missed Call (2003)
'People mysteriously start receiving voicemail messages from their future selves, in the form of the sound of them reacting to their own violent deaths, along with the exact date and time of their future death, listed on the message log. The plot thickens as the surviving characters pursue the answers to this mystery which could save their lives.'
A Tale of Two Sisters (2004)
'After being institutionalized in a mental hospital, Korean teen Su-mi (Yum Jung-ah) reunites with her beloved sister, Su-yeon (Im Soo-jung), and they return to live at their country home. The girls' widower father (Moon Geun-young) has remarried, and the siblings are immediately resentful of his new wife, Eun-joo (Kim Kap-soo). As Su-mi and Su-yeon try to resume their regular lives, strange events plague the house, leading to surprising revelations and a shocking conclusion.'
Let the Right One In (2008)
'Oskar, a bullied 12-year-old, dreams of revenge. He falls in love with Eli, a peculiar girl. She can't stand the sun or food and to come into a room she needs to be invited. Eli gives Oskar the strength to hit back but when he realizes that Eli needs to drink other people's blood to live he's faced with a choice. How much can love forgive? Set in the Stockholm suburb of Blackeberg in 1982.'
Orphan (2009)
'Kate and John Coleman are rebuilding their troubled marriage after the loss of their baby. The couple decides to adopt a child. When they meet 9-year-old Esther at the St. Marina Orphanage, they immediately fall in love with the well-educated orphan. Their son, Daniel is hostile to his new sister, but their deaf-mute daughter, Max is enchanted with her - at first. Eventually, Kate begins to feel that Esther is manipulative and possibly even psychologically damaged.'

PUBLISHED: August 12, 2012 at 11:31 a.m. | UPDATED: August 13, 2016 at 1:45 a.m.
A dozen years after escaping from a serial child rapist/killer, 20-year-old Midsi Sanchez of Vallejo says she’s finally coming to terms with her story and can relate it without crying.
Most of the time.
Aug. 12 was the 12th anniversary of her daring escape, and Midsi says she’s buoyed that her very presence offers hope to parents of missing children. She has helped the families of several missing girls in the last few years, such as Sandra Cantu and Sierra LaMar.
For years, Midsi said in an interview, she repressed the horror of her experience and spent much of her teen years self-medicating with alcohol and drugs, and having minor run-ins with the law. But then a car crash, a baby and another missing child “pumped my brakes,” and helped her begin moving in a more positive direction.
Post-escape turmoil
Smiling, poised and self-assured, Midsi described an often difficult dozen years following her abduction and escape some 40 hours later, on Aug. 12, 2000.
“I was so terrible to my parents,” she said. “I was a bad teenager, a bad daughter, a bad person.”
That description is difficult to reconcile with the friendly, open woman who shares with her mother, siblings, daughter and her mother’s boyfriend. And it’s a far cry from the deer-in-the-headlights image of the 8-year-old girl captured by photographers and news cameras after she was reunited with her family only hours after her bold escape.
In a series of chilling events that captured national attention, Midsi was chained in Curtis Dean Anderson’s 1984 Oldsmobile Firenza when he reportedly left her alone while he went into a former San Jose workplace. He had left his key ring behind and she grabbed it, unlocked her chains, climbed out a car window, and with Anderson in hot pursuit, jumped into a delivery truck. She yelled her name to the truck driver and that she’d been kidnapped. Anderson fled, but the driver radioed police with his license number and Anderson was captured a short time later.
Midsi says she has suppressed memories of Anderson’s trial and conviction — helped by her nervous testimony — and even has regrets that he died five years ago in prison, wishing she could confront him now about her abduction.
In recent years, Midsi has balked at interview requests. But recently she’s agreed to appear on 20/20 and I Survived. She’s also traveled to several U.S. cities with Mark Klaas of the KlaasKids Foundation to help launch a new smart phone app called Polly’s Guardian Angel, designed to help find missing children. (See related story.)
Klaas’ 12-year-old daughter, Polly, was kidnapped from her Petaluma home and murdered in 1991. He said “families, like that of (missing South Bay teenager) Sierra LaMar, take a lot from the fact that Midsi survived — that anything could happen.”
Too late for Xiana
That Midsi did survive is even more remarkable because she had been abducted by the same man who later confessed to abducting and killing Xiana Fairchild. In a case that dominated Bay Area news for months, Xiana was 7 when she vanished in December 1999 while waiting for her Vallejo school bus. Her skull was found about 14 months later in the Santa Cruz mountains. A former Vallejo taxi driver, Anderson, 39, pleaded guilty to Xiana’s kidnapping and murder in 2005, four years after he was convicted in Midsi’s kidnapping case. He died in prison two years later.
While Midsi expresses some regret that she will never be able to confront Anderson, one person who did, Xiana’s great-aunt Stephanie Kahalekulu, befriended Midsi shortly after her escape. Midsi also participated in post-escape search efforts for Xiana, not knowing that her fellow abductee was already dead.
Kahalekulu said Midsi’s strong character was evident even immediately after her escape.
“I’m glad (Midsi) had the ability to escape,” she said. “Xiana didn’t have that in her character.”
Despite her innate strength and intelligence that she needed to escape, Midsi’s experience made her different than she otherwise would have been, Klaas and Kahalekulu said.
Midsi agrees. As a mother herself, Midsi said she’s concerned about being over-protective, but that she and her daughter’s father are determined to arm the 2-year-old with as much information as possible to keep her safe. Midsi said she has no plans to allow her daughter to walk alone to school. She also asked that neither her daughter’s name nor photo be used in this article.
“I didn’t let her go to a baby-sitter until she could talk,” Midsi said. “I don’t like people looking at her or getting too close, and I’ll stare them down.”
Flashbacks
After escaping her abductor and reuniting with her family, Midsi returned to school, joined the wrestling team, played soccer and practiced boxing and karate. Though she didn’t graduate from high school, Midsi said she’s working on getting her high school equivalency certificate.
Counseling received after her escape helped Midsi find the strength to testify against her captor in court.
“I remember it in bits and pieces,” Midsi said. “I remember having to point (Anderson) out. I remember my aunt gave me a small angel figure to hold and I had a teddy bear that I kept with me. I was very scared. Nervous. I didn’t want to deal with it.”
Midsi acknowledges that at age 8 she may not have really dealt psychologically with what happened to her. Instead she withdrew from her family, got into fights and substance abuse. The behavior escalated in middle school, and she came close to “giving up,” entertaining thoughts that it might be better if she’d died, she said.
But, she said, until the last few years she’d never given Anderson much of a second thought, believing she was over the trauma.
She said she was surprised when nightmares began in 2009 after she learned she was pregnant while in the hospital following a late-night car crash in which she suffered back injuries.
“I felt safe after I got home (in August 2000), like no one was going to hurt me, again,” Midsi said. “(But) I started having nightmares about Anderson when I was pregnant. It all came back. I think about it all the time, now. I never did before. I dreamed he was trying to take my baby from me. I could see his face.”
Helping others
Reluctant until recent months to tell her harrowing story, Midsi said it’s becoming easier.
“I regretted the (I Survived) show at first, because I told some things in it that I’d never told except in court,” she said. “I still haven’t told everything, but this was more than before. But, I have no regrets, now.
“People have been calling and (contacting me on social media) and they’re so supportive, and they thank me for sharing my story, and I feel like people look to me to confide in, so the regret slowly went away.”
Offering her support to families of missing children has become therapeutic, and a calling that began evolving in 2009, when 8-year-old Sandra Cantu of Tracy went missing, Midsi said.
When Cantu was later found dead, Midsi said she took it hard.
“When I meet with the families, it’s a sign of relief when they see me,” Midsi said. “My meeting with (missing Morgan Hill teenager) Sierra LaMar’s mom — she hugged me and thanked me for restoring her faith. That was big. I met a police officer there who told me his daughter went missing eight years after me, and they’re still looking.”
LaMar has been missing since March. Antolin Garcia-Torres, 21, was arrested in May in connection with her disappearance.
Too much too soon
Her experience gave her too much knowledge too soon, Midsi said.
“It made me aware of the bad that happens,” she said. “It opened my eyes to kidnapping, murder, drugs, tweakers, everything. None of that stuff was real before. It made me grow up really fast.”
Midsi credits the car crash — from which she still suffers back pain — her daughter’s birth, and the disappearance of Sandra Cantu with turning her life around.
“The crash physically stopped me from going out and hurting myself,” she said.
And while she’s made great strides in evening her life’s keel, Midsi said she’s not expecting to entirely get over her ordeal.
“I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover,” she said. “But I can think about it without crying and I can help other people.”

Smartphone app aims to sound alarm when children go missing
By Rachel Raskin-Zrihen
Times-Herald staff writer
Mark Klaas and Midsi Sanchez have recently made personal appearances in several cities to launch a new smart phone app designed to help parents of missing children sound the alarm.
“Midsi went to Pensacola, Fla. with me for the launch of Polly’s Guardian Angel — a smart phone user-based app,” said Klaas, whose 12-year-old daughter Polly was kidnapped from her Petaluma home and murdered in 1991. Klaas said he was a car-rental franchise owner when this life-altering episode struck.
“It was a complete life-changer, it changed everything,” Klaas said. “Polly’s tragedy gave me a new focus and a different meaning to my life. It’s why I started my foundation, though I’d give it back in a heartbeat.”
Polly’s Guardian Angel app “is pre-populated with information that’s distributed to anyone who has the app in a five -mile radius of where the child went missing,” Klaas said. “There are also user prompts for what to do if the child has not been located in five minutes, or in 30 minutes — to make sure you’re doing all the right things. There is no doubt in my mind this will save lives at some point.”
Launched about six weeks ago, the app has hit some user glitches, which are expected to be ironed out within the month, Klaas said.
Polly’s Guardian Angel App officials say:
It’s the first parent-initiated missing child alert system.
The technology lets parents deploy GPS and social networking to sound the alarm and ask for help from nearby app users.
It also gives parents access to the Polly Call Center which connects parents to professionals who have been trained to make sure that everything possible is being done to re-connect the parent to their child.
Parents are offered step-by-step guidance derived from years of experience from searches around the United States.
Downloadable from iTunes or Android’s Play Store, Polly’s Guardian Angel purchases help fund the Florida-based Polly Call Center and future enhancements of the app.

Two Vallejo girls share a nightmare
Dec. 9, 1999 — Xiana Fairchild vanishes from her Vallejo school bus stop, launching a protracted search including Kim Swartz, Amber’s mother, Xiana’s great aunt Stephanie Kahalekulu, and Marc Klaas of the KlaasKids Foundation, the father of a kidnapped and murdered child.
Aug. 10, 2000 — Midsi Sanchez, 8, is abducted on her way home from Highland Elementary School.
Aug. 12, 2000 — Some 40 hours later, Midsi makes her escape. Former Vallejo cab driver Curtis Dean Anderson is arrested that night in San Jose.
January 2001 — Xiana’s partial remains are found in Los Gatos.
August 2001 — Vallejoans gather at Corbus Field for the one-year anniversary of Midsi’s abduction and escape. During the previous year, Midsi and/or her story were featured on several TV shows, including Inside Edition, 20/20, America’s Most Wanted, Montel Williams, Oprah and Dateline NBC.
July 2002 — After about a year-long trial, Judge Allan P. Carter sentences Anderson to 251 years in state prison. Anderson had pleaded innocent to all charges, but during several media interviews made statements implicating himself in the abduction of other young girls, including Xiana Fairchild. After his conviction, Anderson is confined to a 6-foot-wide, 9-foot-deep, 7.5-foot-tall cell at Marin County’s San Quentin State Prison.
November 2007 — Anderson admits to authorities that he kidnapped and killed Amber Swartz-Garcia in Arizona.
December 2007 — Anderson dies in a prison medical facility.
March, 2009 — Midsi helps pass out flyers and holds a Vallejo candlelight vigil during the search for 8-year-old Sandra Cantu of Tracy, who is later found dead in a suitcase submerged in an irrigation pond. A neighbor, Melissa Huckaby, 28, confesses to the murder.
May, 2009 — Midsi, now 16, is seriously hurt in a 2 a.m. car crash on Columbus Parkway in which she is a passenger. The 20-year-old driver is cited for DUI and released after being treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
July, 2009 — After an 18-month investigation, and unable to disprove Anderson’s confession that he killed Amber Swartz-Garcia, Pinole police officially call off their 21-year search for the girl despite never finding her remains. Kim Swartz and Stephanie Kahalekulu express doubts.
March 2012 — Midsi connects with the family of missing South Bay 15-year-old Sierra Mae Lamar.

Hi, how are you? :)
I wondered if you can tell more or make a kind of photo story of Victoria an Daniel’s love story. I think they’re definitely a modern fairytale coming true.
Lots of love an thanks
So I won't post everything because I will eventually get to that part of Victoria's life on my blog @duchessofvastergotland but I'm only on 1989 and I'm going chronologically haha. So will do a break down of some key milestones from when they met up until their engagement:
So for background, Daniel was from a rural area called Ockelbo. He moved to Stockholm and opened up his own gym which became very successful. By the late 90s/early 2000s he was serving elite clientele. It's been said that Princess Madeleine joined and introduced it to Victoria, others have said it was one of her friends. Either way it was recommended to Victoria who had struggled with an eating disorder and was looking for a way to stay strong but still healthy. We don't know exactly how the early days of their relationship went but he asked her for dinner some time in late 2001 and then it blossomed from there.
30th May 2002: The press breaks the news that Victoria is dating her personal trainer Daniel Westling. They pounced on him, as you'd expect, and he was initially not thrilled to be photographed. This is a photograph of him after the news first broke:
Tumblr media
July 2002- The first photograph of them kissing was published, confirming their relationship. They were photographed with a long lens on the dance floor at the 25th birthday party of Victoria's best friend Caroline Kreuger
Tumblr media
July 2003- Victoria talked about Daniel in an interview for the first time, explaining the difficulty of the press attention on him. She said "of course it's hard for him. It's a whole new world for Daniel." That same month he was photographed with the rest of the royal family for the first time at a concert in Borgholm, around the time of Victoria's birthday (he didn't attend the public celebrations)
Tumblr media
August 2003- Victoria and Daniel attend the wedding of her friend Andrea Brodin together. I believe this is the first wedding they attended as a couple
Tumblr media
March 2004- After about 2 and a half years together, Daniel gave his first interview to the press. Rather sweetly, he gave the exclusive to a newspaper run by school children in his home town. The mainstream press had until that point been quite rude about him. They called him a farm hand because of where he grew up and said he wasn't fit to marry Victoria because he "didn't know any contemporary Swedish authors." In the interview he didn't talk about his relationship and focused on his upbringing and business
Tumblr media
August 2004- Daniel joined Victoria at an ice hockey event at the Globe Arena. It was included on the official calendar before hand and the press ran with it being his first appearance at her side at an official engagement but the court denied it was an official appearance
Tumblr media
August 2005- While watching Carl Philip racing, Victoria debuted a necklace with her and Daniel’s initials intertwined
Tumblr media
April 2006- The press had spent most of the couple’s 4 and a half year relationship saying the King and Queen hated him but in the clearest sign that he had been accepted, the King invited him to attend his private 60th birthday celebrations. He arrived with Victoria’s friends
Tumblr media
October 2006- Victoria and Madeleine attended the 700th anniversary of the Stockholm Cathedral. Daniel was also invited and attended in a private capacity. You can see him in the background of this photo of them:
Tumblr media
2008- A request was made for the court to be granted extra funds for, amongst other things, future royal weddings. This was taken as an indication an engagement was imminent. Over the years many have suggested Victoria and Daniel didn’t marry because the King didn’t allow it. Victoria herself denied that and I think these extra funds back up what is more likely: they deliberately chose to wait until Victoria had finished the special diplomatic course she had been doing for many years before marrying and focusing on duties, children etc. It doesn’t seem like a coincidence to me Victoria graduated a couple of months after she got engaged.
June 2008- Daniel accompanied Victoria as her date for the private party marking Crown Prince Frederik’s 40th birthday. Significantly they arrived together with Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, showing Daniel had been accepted by the Scandi royal circle
Tumblr media
July 2008- The King allows Daniel to move to a property on the grounds of Drottningholm Palace, where Victoria lived before marriage. Although they weren’t officially sharing a home, they had effectively moved in together
February 2009- After much speculation, Victoria and Daniel officially announced their engagement!

He’s never been before, but he’s watched the news footage of the explosion enough times that he immediately recognises the three black SUVs lined up along the dirt road, the buildings in the distance, the crowd of people standing around.
He holds his hand above his eyes as he squints against the sun, can already feel sweat trickling down his back from the blazing sun. He can’t remember how he got here, has no idea why he’s still wearing his suit, his impractical work shoes.

Apparently there used to be a Demoscene event in South Africa? I have literally never heard of this before. Wikipedia claims that it ran from 2000-????, but that's WRONG. I found a NAG (local gaming magazine) article which references the winner of "last year's Optimise" from 1998! [p.20 final paragraph.]
Possibly it was not held In South Africa until then? But then why is there almost no information about it online. There's one forum post about a submission to the 2001 round. I can't even see anyone talking about it in the old Furry forum I used to frequent, and that place is full of well-connected programmers. Just dumped a message in the local programmer slack to see if anyone knows anything.
The Author of that article is Paul Furber, who appears to be "Baruch The Scribe" and is/was a big QAnon guy, so that's going to be interesting if I ever try to interview him. This is so stupid. It's part 5 of a demoscene series so I can try tracking down the rest of it, at least.
His GitHub has a bunch of abandoned forks of SDL code so he's definitely at least dabbling in demoscene as of relatively recently. I'll delve into his blog at some point.
Am I going to have to create a Gab account to talk to this dweeb. Probably.

Video

2:am - Motor Lounge - Detroit
This video spot was from before 2002 (20 FUCKIN’ YEARS AGO!!)-and it is amusing to see the people enjoying themselves there. No one there posturing as “freaks of style”,  just good people (and some “freaks of the mind”) having fun....and I recognize the look with fond nostalgia.
I worked off and on at the Motor Lounge from it’s opening in 1996 (when I was called in earlier than my slated start time because a well known night club mogul from Pontiac sent in some guys to snake kerosene on the parquet dance floor and set it ablaze days before the grand opening-a very uneventful grand opening as folks found themselves trying to step lively in a dance floor consisting of a pit of tarry foundation where the floor once was).
I quit after my roommate got unstable and threatened me (and I was taking up most of his slack on the job), I didn’t see a paycheck for the first two months since it opened, and found out the place was pandering to douchebag jocks with it’s own humidor and cigar bar (something all my friends were like “get out of there”). Much of what I ended up doing at the Easttown Theater from 1998-1999 was in reaction to the Motor. We appealed more to techno party folk (and yes, candyravers) and less to the “Night at the Roxbury” guys often referred to as “bar Guidos” (an epithet used by candyravers for these d-bag types with open Mylar shirts, neck-chains, wraparounds, and spiky moussed hair). Eventually, the Motor dropped the cigar bar shtick, got some decent (albeit shady types involved in drug-dealing) promoters who went for the techno crowd, but this didn’t stop us from having the audacity to straight up pass out flyers right outside the Motor for our venue (we stayed open to 4am on Fridays going into Saturdays, and the big Saturday night shows went well into dawn).
I went back to the Motor in 2000, but quit after I witnessed the unfurling of an unfortunate event involving one of our own security guards (who had only been there 10 days) raping a girl in a truck in the parking lot of the adjacent video store (the intervention of the Arab-American gentlemen watching the lot kept the girl from being throttled to death)....I later saw the same girl working at a Dearborn music store going into decline and could still see the bruises on her neck.
I only returned a handful of times to assist some friends with sound an lighting in 2001, and my friend who was busting his tail there was getting weary from shit like having to be the one to pull the overdosed body of a girl from one of the bathrooms and also seeing a friend get stabbed. I helped out at an afterhours in Eastern Market (especially during the DEMF-now called Movement fest-back when it was free!) that would get all the Motor staff getting off work and coming there to blow off steam (something people who work at clubs and bars need) and get blitzed.
Owner Dan Sordyl confesses in interviews about a shooting that occurred outside there, and in rare interviews the stabbing and overdose, but I have yet to hear him recall the raping by a security guard.
All in all, the Motor Lounge was on brand for any cheap night club operating in and around the Detroit area, and that also meant bang-up awesome musical acts-the likes of which I doubt modern Americans will ever see again.

Since some people wrote me that I was wrong about who started the Stonewall riot in my posts, I decided to dig up some information on that topic. So...even people who were there still don’t agree on how Stonewall started. And it actually doesn't matter who threw the First Brick at Stonewall
The series of events that occurred during the Stonewall uprising is difficult to establish with certainty because so much of LGBTQ+ history isn’t well-documented. Our collective understanding of the riots comes largely from oral histories, which present conflicting and contradictory accounts as to what exactly took place.
Tumblr media
In addition to crediting Marsha P. Johnson with throwing the brick that started it all, historical accounts often cite Sylvia Rivera as the person who started the Stonewall riots.
But actually both Johnson and Rivera denied being the first to fight back against the police during the uprising. In an interview from the 1970s where Johnson recalls the events of the historic night, she confirms "the riots had already started" by the time she arrived at the bar. Similarly, Rivera delivered a speech in 2001, clarifying, “I have been given the credit for throwing the first Molotov cocktail by many historians but I always like to correct it. I threw the second one, I did not throw the first one!”.
Eyewitnesses claim that the events preceding the Stonewall riots began as a police raid on the bar, a frequent and routine occurrence at gay bars during that time. A number of patrons were handcuffed and escorted outside by police.
Among them was a butch lesbian who resisted arrest and repeatedly tried to escape before she was struck in the head with a baton. She then punched the cop, shouting to bystanders, “Why don't you guys do something?" This “first punch” is considered the inciting moment that motivated others to fight back against the police. The identity of this woman remains uncertain, but historical accounts suggest that it was Stormé DeLarverie, a Black biracial butch lesbian and drag king.
Tumblr media
“The name Stormé DeLarverie may not ring a bell, but it should. Some have referred to her as ‘the Gay Community’s Rosa Parks.“ — After Ellen
Stormé DeLarverie served the lesbian community for decades as a volunteer street patrol worker. She patrolled the lesbian bars to keep what she lovingly referred to as her “baby girls” safe. She was androgynous, tall, dark, handsome and legally armed. She did this all the way up until she was 80-something-years-old, retiring in the early 2000s. Stormé is fondly remembered as a “gay superhero” — a fearless protector of the lesbian spaces that have all but gone extinct. Stormé DeLarverie died in her sleep in Brooklyn on May 24, 2014.
Tumblr media
But  Stormé DeLarverie actually denied that she was the catalyst in interview with Charles Kaiser, but her own words matched others’ descriptions of the defining moment: ‘The cop hit me, and I hit him back. The cops got what they gave.’  Can we definitively give singular credit to DeLarverie, when even she has denied being the catalyst for the rebellion?
DeLarverie’s own denial of sparking the uprising should challenge us to reconsider our community’s obsession with crediting the start of the riots to a singular person. This focus on the “first” punch/brick/molotov cocktail undermines the labor of the whole  LGBTQ+ community.
We should acknowledge DeLarverie, Johnson, Rivera, and Griffin-Gracy not just for their involvement in the Stonewall uprising, but for their lifelong work of organizing and activism. These women’s legacies did not begin or end with Stonewall.
But more importantly, we need to recognize that Stonewall and the movement it sparked was, at heart, a collective uprising — one that cannot be attributed to a single person or small group of people.
The disputable nature of history means we may never know what exactly happened at the Stonewall Inn on the night of June 27, 1969. Who started the Stonewall riots? The uprising wasn’t a random event, but the culmination of an entire community’s frustration at discriminatory policing and economic exploitation.
That’s why today we have to support each other, all members of LGBTQ+ community. All of us, without exception!

Here’s a roundup of those women who have accused Mr Trump of sexual assault or harassment.
Alva Johonson, a former Trump campaign staffer, said she had to avoid a kiss from Mr Trump while on a trip to Florida in August of 2016. The White House has denied this most recent accusation, as have some members of the Trump team who say they were present.
Jessica Leeds, a former traveling salesperson, alleged that Mr Trump grabbed her breasts and tried to put his hand up her skirt while on a first-class flight in the 1980s. Ms Leeds was in her late 30s at the time.
Ivana Trump, Mr Trump’s first wife, once used the word “rape” to describe an encounter with him. The accusation was made in a 1993 book following a divorce settlement between the two. She has since softened her language, saying that she didn’t mean the word in a “literal or criminal sense”.
Jill Harth, a former business partner of Mr Trump’s, said that Mr Trump forcibly kissed her on the lips, groped her breasts, and grabbed her genitals in what she described in a 1997 as an “attempted rape”. The encounter allegedly occurred at Mr Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, in one of his children’s bedroom. She also says that Mr Trump groped her under the table at a dinner with colleagues at the Plaza Hotel.
Kristen Anderson alleged that Mr Trump put his hand up her skirt and touched her genitals over her underwear at the China Club in Manhattan at some point in the early 1990s when she was in her early 20s. Ms Anderson was an aspiring model at the time.
Lisa Boyne accused Mr Trump of insisting that female models walk across a table at a New York restaurant in 1996, and then remarking on their underwear and genitalia. She was 25 at the time.
Cathy Heller says that Mr Trump forcibly kissed her on the lips during a Mother’s Day brunch at mar-a-Lago in 1997.
Temple Taggart, a former Miss Utah, alleged that Mr Trump forcibly kissed her on the mouth on two different occasions. The first incident was the first time that they met.  The incidents occurred at the 1997 Miss USA pageant event, and in Trump Tower.
Mariah Billado, a former Miss Vermont Teen USA, has alleged that says that Mr Trump walked into a dressing room unannounced in 1997. She said that there were several teen beauty queens aged between 15 and 19 in the room naked at the time.
Karena Virginia alleged that Mr Trump grabbed her arm and touched her breast while she was waiting for a car after the US Open.
Bridget Sullivan, a former Miss New Hampshire, alleged that Mr Trump walked into the Miss USA pageant dressing room in 2000 while contestants were naked. She was 19 at the time.
Tasha Dixon, a former Miss Arizona, alleged that Mr Trump entered dressing rooms at the Miss USA pageant in 2001 while contestants were “half-naked”.
Melinda Macgillivray alleged that Mr Trump grabbed her buttock in a pavilion behind the main house of his Mar-a-Lago estate in 2003. They were in the middle of a group of people, she said, and it was during a concert performed by Ray Charles.
Jennifer Murphy said that Mr Trump forcibly kissed her after a job interview in 2005. She was 26 at the time.
Rachel Cooks alleged that Mr Trump kissed her forcibly on the lips outside the elevator in Trump Tower in 2005. She was 22 at the time.
Natasha Stoynoff alleged that Mr Trump pushed her against a wall and forcibly kissed her in a closed-door room in his Mar-a-Lago estate in 2005. Ms Stoynoff, a writer for PEOPLE magazine, was there to interview Mr Trump.
Ninni Laaksonen alleged that Mr Trump grabbed her buttocks while taking photos outside the Ed Sullivan Theater, and before Mr Trump appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman. Ms Laaksonen was 20 at the time, in 2006.
Jessica Drake alleged that Mr Trump forcibly kissed her and two female friends in 2006, when she was 32. When she pushed him away, she said that he asked her: “How much?”
Samantha Holvey, a former Miss North Carolina, alleged that Mr Trump treated women like “meat” and would barge into dressing rooms to inspect women. She said the incidents occurred in 2006, when she was 20.
Summer Zervos alleged that Mr Trump grabbed her by her shoulders and forcibly kissed her, and groped her breasts, while she was a contestant on The Apprentice in 2007. She said the incidents took place at Trump Tower in New York, and at a hotel in Los Angeles.
Cassandra Searles, a former Miss Washington, said that Mr Trump grabbed her buttocks repeatedly in 2013 during the Miss USA pageant in 2013. She said that he also invited her to his hotel room.
Karen Johnson, who said Mr Trump pulled her into a tapestry by her crotch at a New Year's Eve party in the early 2000s.
The White House and Mr Trump have denied the allegations. During a 2017 press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that the West Wing's official position is that the women accusing Mr Trump of sexual assault or harassment are lying. Mr Trump has also suggested that the women who have come forward accusing him were not attractive enough for him to sexually assault them.
Several allegations have been made in All the President's Women, and are not immediately available to be listed here
