RE HOW BIGHIT MARKETS BTS

Thanks for the question dear.

Marketing is for a lot of things but in BTS's case, I'd say the primary goal of marketing them is to expose the entire group and or the individual members to an audience, a particular audience at a time, to brand them in a way that makes them appealing to that target market- to put it simply.

During one of the recent run episodes, when Jimin performed his dance from Serendipity- which I must say, God he is breathtakingly beautiful when he dances. Serendipity and the choreo is my weakness. If I see anything better than that- hold on, there's filter too. Ayayaya.

Anywho, when Jimin performed Serendipity on Run and suggested that was the dance the staff was performing, the members- cough RM, quickly pointed out how he was plugging, self promoting (to Run's target audience)

Run has a different demographic.

When Suga talked about them not being funny on their Let's BTS show on KBS the Host pointed out how they were actually funny in their Run episodes.

A lot of Army(who are already fans of BTS or each individual member) watch Run but not all who watch Run are Army or even listen to BTS songs. So any performance of an individual's music or choreo would attract such a 'unique' viewer who might go on to become that member's stan or bias etc.

Similarly, when a member embarks on a solo project they are exposed to a new or unique audience. That's where most of the solo stans come from.

For V, his fanbase are not just made up of people who enjoy him as a musician but as an actor as well.

He has a strong fanbase in SK outside of 'Army' because of his exposure to the Korean market beyond BTS and this comprises of his musical collaborations with Korean Artists and film companies such as his OST Sweet Night on the series Itaewon class.

It's the same with Suga and IU, his Agust D mixtapes which draws in audiences that are not necessarily into boybands, RM's Mono whixh attracts strong hiphop fans, Jimin's dance collaborations with Taemin for example and his contemporary dance performance which attracts people in the world of contemporary dance and ballet- point in case the black swan performance at the end of the year, Jin and Hobi's MCing etc.

All these projects exposes them to unique audiences and markets outside of Army or BTS's own fanbase.

And I think the best way to understand how this is important or how this affects BigHit's marketing approach is to look at their recent YouQuiz interviews.

Jimin, Jhope and JK were paired to attract aspiring dancers or persons who want to be dancers and learn from these three dance leaders of BTS- or at least they were paired to appeal to them in my opinion.

Tae and RM were equally paired to appeal to creatives and creative minds and persons who are more into composing and writing lyrics and are full of passion and musical geniuses.

Jin and Suga were paired to appeal to mature audiences.

Ten out of ten when any pair is paired in BTS it is for marketing reasons to appeal to certain fanbase or audiences and are often strategic moves unless of course it's to balance things out to not create the impression they are promoting subunits within the group in furtherance of the BTS kumbaya agenda- Team over units or solos.

So Jikook are not gonna be allowed to sit together all the time even if they want to, neither would JinKook, or Sope.

They shake and reshuffle sometimes.

And like Tae said in his 2018 VLive, the company decides who they collaborate in or what market to promote them in.

Tae was allowed to collaborate with Adora on his Chrismas song but not Jimin- which to me is very homophobic but it goes to show the company has a say in who they work with and most importantly which market they work in.

For JK, he's been working his way within the American marke and building a strong fanbase internationally from his English covers of Justin Bieber, Troye Sivan, to his collaboration with Charlie Puth, and most recently Jason Derulo in Savage love- that's a lot of English speaking fanbase he's attracting and appealing to outside of Army.

Tae's English mixtape would achieve a similar feat and draw in a lot of English speaking fans.

Bts did the same with dynamite and coldplay's Fix you.

So by allowing JK to work with renowned Japanese Artists and film companies, collaborating and composing original sound tracks for them such as his Your eyes tell OST, Film out, etc. he is appealing to and drawing in a Japanese audience.

As Hobi explained in his 2019 January Vlive, their mixtapes, solo projects, collaborations with Artists outside of BTS are all ways for them to expand their fanbase individually and build their portfolio.

And these new fans are mostly going to be solo stans who stan him for his music composing abilities but of course some may fall in love with BTS as well and go on to become Army so it's a win win situation.

WOULDN'T THE OTHERS OBJECT

Yes and no.

As long as the company isn't pushing him as a soloist outside of BTS and creating a separate brand with him outside of BTS's own brand I don't think the boys would object to it.

That was the problem they had/have with Jikook. In my opinion.

The company branding Jikook, distinctifying them from the group as a 'couple' subunit, selling their chemistry to fans and advertisers really doesn't and didn't sit well with the group. AT ALL.

In my opinion of course.

You can't create a brand within a brand.

It goes against Bang PD's own objective of prioritizing the team over all else which is what sold the members in the first place.

I just think in JK's case, since 2020, they are just trying to help him find himself and his bearing and his purpose.

He's been trying to find himself since 2020 and he'd talked about losing his passion and had had his passion hijacked and commercialized by the company.

He used to say he didn't know what he was going to do with himself and his life and career after BTS- having him work on music videos, directing, composing, reading these are all ways that they are doing right by him if you ask me.

They are helping him not trying to push their own agendas- which is not to say they might not change their minds about it in the future.

JK is an artist being managed by the company and they owe a duty to him to make the right business decisions for him with his consent- can't stress on the consent bit enough.

Personally, I'm happy about Japan because they are and are shaping out to be queer friendly and have a bit of progressive laws and conducive environments for queer artists to flourish in- if coming out would ruin their careers that's one less worry.

Which by the way I hate anyone who peddles this 'coming out will ruin their careers' nonsense because I can tell you one hundred percent that that is rooted in homophobia and it's not OK.

Don't tell that to no queer people shut up. You are not helping.

I know some say that out of genuine concerns for the boys but PLEASE DON'T. Don't use fear to keep queer people hidden and out of sight. Don't promote closet safety. Rhetorics like that only perpetuate queer invisibility and homophobia- do I need to spell it out to your liberal homophobic ass?!

Coming out is entirely up to them regardless of the risk you think is involved. If they want to take it. They'll take it. It's their choice to make regardless of whatever consequence.

That there are or should be consequences is a problem in of itself.

JK POTENTIALLY WITHOUT JIMIN

They both have different career objectives.

I know Jimin says JK is imitating him but chilee JK is his own person. Lol.

Jimin plays too much.

He has his own aspirations.

In 2014 Jimin posted this Christmas song he did with JK. In 2020 he posted his own Christmas song without Jk.

It's not hard to see where his interests in music lie as a musician.

JK covered We don't talk anymore by himself and later did a collaboration with Jimin on the same song. He's done Fools with RM- see where I'm going with this?

Suga said he was more likely to write pop songs for JK but write dance songs for Jimin.

Jk said in the Be interviews bang PD advised him to consider dance performances when writing songs as he himself is a dancer too and need to incorporate in his compositions.

They are two distinct artists and at some point it would become necessary to brand, promote and encourage their uniqueness in their professional lives. They don't got to be tethered to each other all the time.

Personally, I don't think BigHit would want to push official subunits within BTS- yet and it's inclination towards Jikook have always been because of their marketing appeal rather than to further a career objective for both of them.

This goes back to the pairing objectives I talked about earlier. If they are going to pair Jikook professionally as an official subunit within the group it wouldn't be because they are a couple and ought to be together all the time but because it is smart for them to do so business wise.

If their pairing isn't commercially profitable they won't be paired at all- unless of course Jikook themselves want and request to be paired in that way. Know what I mean?

They each signed separate contracts with the company from day dot. They didn't sign on as a unit.

Whether or not they've decided they are a package deal I cannot say- yet, as their new contract just came into effect.

We would have to observe how they are being handled by the company going forward.

Jimin and Jhope were equally sent to Japan for promotion purposes without JK.

Out of all seven, Namjoon is the most promoted member in the international Market not just because he speaks English but because he is often made the spokes person for the group in interviews, at awards straight up to the UN.

Look how happy they all were and how chatty they were at the KBS Let's BTS interview.

I mean they all talked about it. About how they can't say much on foreign forums and often step into Namjoon's shadows.

RM is the most recognized and dare I say the most liked member out of all seven in the international market outside Army and their music profession.

In Japan they all have a chance to be front and center at interviews etc.

It just so happens that JK as it stands is the one member pushing to build a portfolio within that market.

Let's pray he gets mainstream and build a strong presence within the music industry there because we all know he's gonna drag Jimin up there with him😏

Just pay attention to the songs he's written and the parts Jimin sings in them- he makes Jimin shine on those songs.

They have so much potential my God.

Hey there! This is my very first headcanon thingy, so i would like to apologise for my bad english, its not my mother language. Also, it was so long ago when i last wrote anything similar in english, so once again, sorry.

DIAVOLO - The CEO of the company - It was the main goal in all his life to see Lucifer shining on stage - Okay, not, actually he only knows Lucifer since a shitty survival program - I mean, Lucifer is already hiper super extra giga mega beautiful in his eyes, but! Lucifer! on! stage! is the main Lucifer - So he maid a company for him - Lucifer was like 'wtf dID U DO' (okay, he didnt say it in this way, but-) - He is an understanding boss - Doesnt plan to debut any other group, so his company wont suck lol - Has all the money only for the bois - Altho he is really kind and understanding, he expects the guys to work extra hard do achive success - Sometimes goes to variety shows with his group and acting like a proud dad around them - Fans say that he is the 8th member of the group - Has his own fansites - Sometimes does modelling (has a duo photoshoot with Lucifer which he is extra proud of and some of its pieces are on his wall in a big canvas) - Fans ship him with Lucifer (not suprising) - He bought two houses next to each other. LUCIFER - Leader of the group - Also dad of the group (i mean if you dont count Diavolo) - He and the others participated in a survival program, but didnt make it - Got kicked out of their prev company - Thats when Diavolo became a fan of him and decided on founding one for him - Lucifer only agreed on joining if his teammeat could go too - Most popular in the group - Does everything Diavolo asks him to do - Makes the guys practicing till morning - Barely sleeps - Also does acting - Really bad at doing fanservice - Extremely caring towards fans - Always makes sure that the fans are doing okay, writes short messages on fancafe, uploads pictures (never about himself) on ig and twitter and reminds fans to take care of themselfs - Staying up super late to read fancafe letters from fans - Gives special attention to communicate with fans - However... He shamlessly blocks fans who upload meme pics about him or hurt his pride - HE IS SERIOUS - Thanks to this, fans never EVER mock him - Has a solo album - Won against his own group once in a music show (Levi said how it was not fair and Satan was pissed) - Never dyed his hair and never will - According to some poll, he is one of the most handsome men in kpop - He hates fanwars and when there is one, he tells the fans to stop  - He also hates rumors

MAMMON - He wanted to became a worldwide idol so he can get more money - Actually he was really bad at everything when he joined that survival program - Fans started to love him bc of his hard work (((for the money))) - Always forgets their own choreography - The whole fandom jokes about how stupid he is - He is always truly offended and scolds the fans on vlive - Fans make memes out of him and love dissing him - Fans think he is super cute and he is loveing it - LOVES fansigns but always blushes if he needs to hold hands with fans - Tries to act tough anyway - Cries in every. fkin. concert. (giving birth to new memes lol) - Once made a "joke" about how fans should donate him money instead of giving presents and it became a HUGE scandal, Lucifer and Diavolo deadass wanted to kick him out of the group - Does vlive a lot bc he loves talking about everything: how he bought a new car, new shoes, how he wanted to prank Lucifer with Satan and how they failed blah blah and so on - He is that member with zero lines, but has fair screentime - Modelling and super popular - Tried acting bc "he is too good at everything" but failed (he is not too good, but too shy lol) - The loudest member - Variety shows love him thanks to his idiotism - He says he is the "cutie sexy" member of the team - Once a fan started crying in front of him at a fansign out of happiness and Mammon was so touched he started crying as well

LEVIATHAN - His nickname is Leviachan for a reason - Fans know how much of an otaku he is so they always buy him anime related stuff and LEVI IS TRULY HAPPY ALL THE TIME - He even post about his presents at twitter and ig - Does gameplay vlives - Also has a youtube channel where he uploads every kind of videos: gameplays, gameplays, anime reviews, manga recommendations, gameplays, videos about his Ruri-chan collection, gamplays... and more gameplays - Uploaded a video where he and Mammon tried to snake into Lucifer's room to film him while he is asleep, but got caught and Lucifer started to shout at them - He needed to deletet it bc Lucifer wanted to kill him for publishing it - Fans didnt reupload out of fear from Lucifer - Shy at fansigns but compfy with old fans and fansites - Doing cosplay - At the begining he was reather shy on stage, but since he got used to it... aegyo all the way - Loves when they promote in Japan - In variety shows when the mcs ask him about his hobbies he always ends up talking too much, so to others need to stop him - According to fans, he has e-boy vibes - He is the one who posts everything thats happening with them on twitter, so the fans really ALWAYS know whats up whit the guys - Once accidentally tweeted out their hotel room numbers and fans found them (Lucifer was hella angry)

SATAN - Mom of the group, even if he hates it - Like if Lucifer is the dad, no way that he is the mom - Also prince of the group - Has good vocals but can rap too - Writes lyrics - Started acting bc he was sure he is better than Lucifer - Won an award for his main role in a detective series - Has a whole collection of books bought by fans - Gets angry easily which is the reason why fans often mock and make memes about him - Reads the messages fans send him and replies; sometimes its only a heart, sometims its advice or kind words - Came up with the groups greeting - According to the other members fansites, he is so handsome that its hard to not take pictures of him - Thanks to this, all the others fansites have at least two posts about him - Fans going insane when he starts smiling - Plays the guitar - Multilanguage king - Cant do fanservice - Literally hates fanservice - Once in Weekly Idol, him and Lucifer needed to hold hands and say nice things to each other after the others told the mcs how awkward their relationship is - That was the worst moment in his entire life - Wanna do a solo album, but didnt have the chance yet (Diavolo promisd him tho) - He has th best fashion sense after Asmo - Has a cat in the dorm and the fans love it like its their own - He has a great memory, so he remembers the names of the fans who attended their fansigns at least two times 

ASMODEUS - Main vocal of the group - Self claimed visual of the group - He posts the most, almost everyday - Loves doing make up - The most fashionable member - A big ass diva - Went to king of masked singer but didnt win it - Has a solo album - He loVES FANSERVICE, HE LIVES FOR IT - With members, with fans, it doesnt really matter - The best at fansigns, he is so direct - Hold hands with fans, gives hugs, let them touch him - On the groups YouTube channel, he has this special segment called "Asmo cam" - He shows whats happening in backstage during promotions - Designed their debut album's look - Also designed the lightstick - Complains to the stylists if he dislikes an outfit - MCing - Reads the fanfictions fans write about the group and teases the members with it - Doing shower vlives, where there is only voice, so the fans can hear him singing in the shower (he also brags about how beautiful he is and how unlucky his fans not seeing the full beauty of his body) - If a fan post about him saying dirty things, he will reply with even more dirtyer stuff - Most of his fans are hard stans

BEELZEBUB - Maybe i am headcanoning it wrong, but for me Beelzebub is a rapper - The only reason he is not part of the aegyo line bc he never does aegyo but naturally cute enough for fans to cry over his cuteness - He is so sad that fans mustnt give him food in fansigns, but Diavolo is against it out of fear of some antifan trying to poison them - Mukbang videos - Mukbang shows love and hate him at the same time - Eating everywhere and everytime - He even eats at the middle of concerts - Fans have a bunch of memes about him - According to fans, he is like a big puppy who must be protected by all costs - All cool and serious on stage, all cuddly and cutie off stage - Main dancer of the group, always helps with the choreographys - Has an own restaurant, where fans can buy his fav foods... And there is a lot of that - One of the sweetest bubs in fansigns, he is easygoing and thanks to this its not hard to talk to him - Fans dieing to see him take off his shirt, but it havent happend yet - In one of his birthday lives Mammon dropped his cake out of accident and HE WAS SUPER SAD - Most of his social media post are about food. BELPHEGOR - Devil maknae - Makes fun of his hyungs, but loves them endlessly - Sleeps in backstage all the time; while his make up is done, while his hair is done, why waiting for rehearsal - Lucifer has the hardest time with him if it comes to practice - I mean, Belphie deadass can fall asleep the middle of some choreo - Didnt love doing agyeo, but fans are over the moon if he does, so he is doing it often - He doesnt have a fixed role in the group, sometimes he sings and sometimes he raps - One of the best dancers, but he is too lazy to show his full potential - He often falls asleep while doing vlives - Once in an ig live he told the fans that it doesnt bother him that they have haters, bc he hates the haters as well - He barely posts on social media; if there are pictures about him, they are mostly from the other members (especially from Beel) - He has a super big pillow he got from a fan to his birthday when he was still a trainee and this is his favourite pillow - He is the one with zero solo activity, bc if he has free time he reather sleeps than going to shoot something

I actually think a majority, if not all, of Seventeen is close. They’ve all trained and worked with each other as “seventeen” for so long it’s kinda impossible to not know each other well yaknow? This list is what I’ve seen lately, but I cant be the one to fully judge because I didn’t stan Seventeen from the beginning T-T

Hyung line (s.coups+ Jeonghan+ Joshua)- They have a system going on where S.coups has to make a decision and Joshua and Jeonghan aid in  the right path. Kind like in OFD japan where Hoshi and Hyung team fought and Coups was a bit too heated to really make a decision and Jeonghan provided a push and Joshua provided reassurance that it’s the right thing to do to make a meeting and resolve the problem.

S.coups+all members- He needs to be able to know all the members well enough to lead the group. He doesn’t necessarily need to be with them all the time though, and that’s okay

Gamer buds (I think it’s S.coups+Wonwoo+Woozi or Mingyu???)- They play games together lol

Jeonghan+Dk-They’re each other’s favorite roommates. Their personalities clash well like a puzzle. Jeonghan yearns of love and appreciation and someone who can take his jokes well. Dk is just that dude. Someone who smiles through every situation and uses humor as his form of energy.

Americain line (Joshua+vernon)-Joshua talks to Vernon in English and aids him in learning the language and I bet Vernon helps him with writing Korean etc. They both know bits about America and customs there. They first bonded through that and now through their personalities.

Jun+wonwoo?- They are both the type of guys who say a joke that makes everyone uncomfortably laugh, but its okay because they have this thing goin where they tell fans that the other is bad at telling jokes and is unfunny, when irl they are just teasing.

Leader Line (Hoshi+Woozi+S.coups)- To be 3 leaders in a team you need a state of neutrality and know how to work well together. They lead differently. S.coups leads the team, he makes the decisions regarding the well-being of the team. Hoshi leads steps and position he makes sure they look well put together. He is also the hype man. Woozi is the “behind the scenes” man. He creates the music in his studio with no disruptions till its perfect. He doesn’t like the attention, but Seventeen/leaderline tries their best to tell everyone that he has a large role in the creation of Svt to rightfully credit him.

Hoshi+Wonwoo-Mocking each other 24/7. Same age friends. They like to play rough sometimes, but it’s a normal thing

Gag trio (Hoshi+Dk+Seungkwan)- Get together to make people laugh. They are the loud ones who just came to see a smile.I’m pretty sure they have a cheer too so…

Wonwoo+Mingyu-The solid ship. We got puppygyu and tsundere Wonwoo. They are sweet together. Though I heard a fan tried to force the ship irl and it made then drift apart for a while? I think they are coming back together

Woozi+Vernon- Teacher->apprentice. Woozi said he wants a mind like Vernon, the way Vernon thinks is so unique and different from what Woozi would expect. and Vernon said he wants natural talent like Woozi. Not many people shed light on it, but Vernon has a lot of credits alongside Woozi (but not as much ofc) in music production and lyric writing. Woozi appreciates that and they both share the same chill energy when they are not being memes.

Woozi+Jeonghan- Woozi only lets Jeonghan do things to him? But he doesn’t really threaten to hurt him afterwards. He just kinda lets it happen lol. 

Mingyu+The8- Now that The8 is coming more out of his shell and isn’t as ‘cute’ as his near debut image, he can finally let out the fashionista inside of him. He roasts tf out of Mingyu and enjoys the same interest as Mingyu in style and designing to the point that they both said that one day they will come out with a brand together. I feel like Mingyu is legit about that, so I look forward to it.

Mingyu+Seungkwan- The relationship they have is funny to me. They do this thing where they tease each other and then the other one acts like he “had enough” and fights the other. They had a vlive together and all they did was “bicker” and it was great lol.  That’s how I am with my friends. we just tell each other to stfu and fight all the time and it’s great. Goals amirite?

Chinaline (The8+Jun)- Legendary way of meeting (Jun rippin off The8′s cap and then proceeded to spit onto his face bc he had braces) Had to learn Korean together and know the struggles of leaving their hometown far away to pursue a kpop career. Rn its like a older brother to little brother situation where The8 is the older brother and Jun always tries to mess around with him.

Seungkwan+Vernon- So soft. so so so so so soft. Seungkwan watched his lil boy grow into a man, but still treats him the same. with the constant patpats on Vernon’s face and adoring him and appreciating him. And then vernon always looking at Seungkwan when he talks and laughs at his antics. This as a pure pair.

Seungkwan+Dino- bickering lol. Dino learning how to be sassy from Seungkwan. And Seungkwan being Sh00k from his clapbacks.

Vernon+Dk- Same birthday bros. They are memes together and apperently Dk really wants to meet Vernon’s lil sister. Vernon refuses. lol same.

Dino+Jeonghan?-Dino nugu aegi is a joke among Carats etc, but Dino wasnt much of a fan of it. He is grown now as stated by him which is a loss for poor affectionate Jeonghan. I’m not saying their connection is splitting, but it is sure being grinded down bc Dino doesnt like being babied anymore T-T

Dino+Hoshi-Same thing with Jeonghan kinda. I think Hoshi is trying to get the kid in Dino to come back out again. But Hoshi also respects his work ethic and ability to help choreograph.

If I were to condense the most within-group social members it would go:

S.coups-Everyone needs to be comfortable with the leader and he needs to now his members well in order to lead right

Jeonghan- Though he likes to joke a lot, members depend on him for advice and help in difficult times. And he is always there to listen 

Hoshi- Seventeen’s hype man. When the members feel slow in energy they can look to him to find a push and strive for perfection with matching passion as him

Dk-Ability to make the room light and happy. He knows how to joke well and the members appreciate it

Seungkwan-pushing Seventeen to be more out there. With his amazing variety and Mcing skill, he always tries to get the more quiet members to show up on camera and talk a bit

Mingyu- Does a lot for the group behind the scenes like cooking and cleaning. The backbone of the dorm lol. All members know him well. He is also social outside of the group.

Vernon-Due to this kid’s slow and l o s t (lol) nature, all Seventeen members feel a need to protect him. They all agree that he is very unique and 4d. Always living in his own word that they need to pull him back to the real world to ge him focused sometimes.

The8- Before was pretty quiet, but as his Korean improves so does his social skills. He is now able to talk more freely to members and ask what a certain word means without being scared of messing up

Joshua-Joshua is the type to be quiet most of the time, but has bursts of randomness. I feel like, like myself, though he doesn’t talk too much, he is always listening and observing (thats why he is good help for s.coups when making decisions)

Wonwoo- Wonwoo is an introvert and has trouble showing a lot of emotion. He does have a bubbly side though and its seen in his nose crinkles. 

Woozi-Woozi kinda chooses to be left alone. He prefers to work alone undisturbed and I think sometimes overworks himself. The members always point out his achievements bc woozi is not the type to shout it out himself.

Jun- Jun is really 4d and sometimes childish. The members love him of course, but sometimes his jokes can be too odd for everyone to grasp when he comes in and out of a conversation.

Dino- Dino is growing up and is finding individuality. So he will prob. not be playing along with the hyungs things like he used to before. But I hope he goes back to just joking around like that bc just bc you’re grown doesn’t mean you can’t be childish ^-^

i’m finally back home in melbourne and now it’s time to talk about kcon australia!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (both days).

so, i had to fly in from melbourne to sydney for this, and i flew in on thursday (but landed at 6pm, so couldn’t do early check in unfortunately...i was told from other people that victon were actually there just walking around the arena and exploring sydney on thursday so damn).

day 1

it takes over an hour to get to the convention from where i was staying, so my friend and i didn’t get there until about 10:30am?? and the first thing we did was join the first queue we saw (which ended up being the convention line). it was kind of disorganised bc no one knew what we were all queuing up for, and then we realised after ten minutes of queuing OH WE HAVE TO CHECK IN (we were p1), so we went further down, found the check in tent and managed to get our wristbands and scratch cards. scratched everything for day 1 and i got: audience for sf9 and hi touch with pentagon (WHICH WAS WHAT I WAS HOPING FOR SO I WAS SO SO SO HAPPY OMG).

sf9 were first up, and we were actually almost late for it, but we got in and they were cute and INSEONG. inseong’s always been my bias, but he really solidified it this kcon. his english is great (which i knew already!!), and he talked so much and I LOVE HIM OK. I LOVE THAT BOY. so sf9 were cuties. stayed in the audience to watch hi touch after their little meet and greet thing (shout out to kevin!!!!!), and they looked so happy and i kept yelling inseong’s name like the fangirl i am. he’s beautiful.

SO after the sf9 artist engagement was victon’s so my friend and i got something to eat. once we did, i came back for pentagon’s hi touch and started queuing up at the exact time i was supposed to (12:15pm). there were already people in the line, so i got in and sat down for over an hour in the hot, hot sun and it well and truly sucked bc i could feel myself melting. not a fun time. BUT worth it when we finally got in bc i was right in front so i got a GREAT view of the boys.

they did their meet and greet thing (kino danced to the key dance point of ‘like this’), and then hi touch began!!!!! order: yan an, shinwon, yeo one, e’dawn, jinho, hui, kino, hongseok, yuto and wooseok. YAN AN, SHINWON AND HUI ARE LIKE SUPER SUPER BEAUTIFUL IRL I WAS IN A W E. yeo one is my bias so ofc i was a mess when i saw him. i also remember e’dawn and jinho pretty clearly?? maybe bc i had the most eye contact with them? everyone else is sort of a blur now bc it went by so fast (like all hi touches). all i could think about was that this was the first group that i ever stanned pre-debut!! and i still remember bawling my eyes out watching pentagon maker when shinwon was eliminated (even with the knowledge that he got into pentagon in the end but STILL I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO HEARTBROKEN BY A ‘SURVIVAL SHOW’...even if it didn’t really end up being a survival show?? idk). so. I TOUCHED ALL THEIR HANDS IT WAS GREAT.

after that, i made my way inside the convention centre, and just stayed inside for like an hour or so bc it was too hot for me to even try to venture outside, but eventually i had to go out to line up for the red carpet, and when i went outside: MASSIVE LINE. it was 4:30pm :/ so of course, i lined up and then ended up making friends with the girl next to me (we were p1 left), and so at least i had someone to chill with for the next two hours of waiting in line (my friend didn’t go to red carpet, she only came in for the show). so lots more waiting until finally FINALLY we were let into red carpet. i was pretty much in the back, so i didn’t get to see much (esp when exo came out bc everyone lost it. lots of phones everywhere). and then we were (in a very, very disorganised manner) herded to the concert area, where there was more waiting, but i managed to find my original friend in the meantime!

eventually kevin came on to talk to us about hotels combined (the sponsor), and then cover dances, and it finally started. suho and sehun did some mcing and i cried. SUHO’S ENGLISH. MY HUSBAND. THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. so after them, first up was sf9!! they did: easy love, jungle game and fanfare. it was amazing (i was especially here for jungle game LOVED That dance). after them was pentagon. I LOST IT. my friend pushed me in front of her bc she knows i love them. they did: like this, can you feel it and gorilla. I WAS YELLING THEIR NAMES SO LOUD. oh, and kino did a solo dance at the beginning too. i think they did the piñata game?? but honestly, everything is a mess in my mind at this point, so i can’t remember for sure. after pentagon was victon! i don’t know them that well, but i’ve learnt all their names now (seungsik is soooooooooo cute ok THAT EYE SMILE). they did: unbelievable, blank and eyez eyez. i’m officially a fan now. then it was girl’s day!! i can’t believe i got to see girl’s day irl omg. minah is SO BEAUTIFUL. she came over to my section the most out of all the girls. i’m hyeri biased, but minah had a hold over me the whole time tbh. they did: i’ll be yours, something, expectation and ring my bell. I ACTUALLY GOT TO SEE SOMETHING AND EXPECTATION IN THE FLESH IT WAS INCREDIBLE. and then of course it was exo’s turn and i was YELLING SO LOUD BC MY BOYS. i’ve literally never in my life been so starstruck by a group before bc they’re EXO. they were RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME IN PERSON (minus d.o. and lay unfortunately though). i actually could have cried. i almost did. btw, chanyeol did a special stage of stay with me (from the goblin ost) with seola from wjsn and it was SO GREAT I LOVE THAT OST ONE OF MY FAVES ACTUALLY. ok so, exo performed: power, tender love, heaven, the eve and ko ko bop. I CAN’T BELIEVE I GOT TO SEE THE EVE LIVE THAT DANCE IS EVERYTHING GOOD IN THE WORLD. suho came over to my section and looked in my direction and smiled and his eyes literally GLITTERED and i have never felt so flustered in my life i almost sobbed. i’m actually really, really happy that i got to see ko ko bop and power live too bc i love love love the dance to power and they always look like they’re having the time of their life when they perform it (esp kai and he was so smiley!!). and then, before i knew it, it was all over and they all came out and said their final goodbyes and i had to go home. i was so exhausted, but still ready for day 2 of course.

OH, special stages were: pentagon peforming got7′s hard carry, sf9 performing exo’s monster and victon performing bts’ fire!!

day 2

so day 2 i was all by my lonesome bc my friend only wanted to go to day 1 (bc she wasn’t too familiar with the day 2 acts), so i headed off on my own a bit later this time since i already knew who i’d pulled for audience engagements/hi touch: wjsn and up10tion for audience engagement and monsta x for hi touch!! i’m not too familiar with wjsn and up10tion so i didn’t end up going to their audience engagement (i was also really, really tired), but i rocked up to the arena at about 11:30am for the monsta x hi touch (i still can’t believe i pulled monsta x bc they were the ones i wanted the MOST). there was already a line there (even though the queue for up10tion was still lining up), so i quickly got in line and had to wait even longer than pentagon this time since i came so early (but i knew there were going to be A LOT of monsta x fans). this time i learnt my lesson and brought an umbrella though, so it was a lot more bearable at least. so i sat there in line chatting with the girl in front of me (it’s really easy to make friends at these conventions and i’m shy as hell) who was a big monbebe. eventually, we got in, and then it was slightly cooler and kevin came out again to introduce monsta x and i was pretty close to the front? like maybe second row, so i had a wonderful view of all of them once again. KIHYUN WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME I WEPT TEARS BC HE LOOKED IN MY DIRECTION AND SMILED. i’ve always been both wonho and kihyun biased, but i truly think that kihyun finally took the bias title for me (with wonho still at a close second) bc i honestly could not stop staring at that boy. jooheon did a rap and it was fire ofc. then hi touch started and i was FREAKING OUT. i was literally shaking so much. i’ve never been so nervous to do a hi touch before (and i’ve done a bunch of them), but monsta x has this effect over me idek. order: shownu, hyungwon, jooheon, wonho, i.m., kihyun and minhyuk. i just kept going HI SHOWNU HI HYUNGWON HI JOOHEON HI WONHO HI I.M HI KIHYUN HI MINHYUK bc i didn’t know what else to do or say. kihyun actually grasped my hand and i shook some more. he was so smiley!!!!!!!!! i don’t remember all that much of this hi touch, but def kihyun’s face. and minhyuk bc he was at the end and real cute too. and shownu bc i was hyping myself out since he was first haha.

so after hi touch i went to go grab some lunch, and chilled for about an hour before going back and then finding some of the friends i met yesterday. we ended up lining up for red carpet at about 4pm, since the line had already started, and we wanted to be in closer than before. so more hours lining up until we were finally, finally let in. unfortunately, wanna one didn’t do red carpet bc i heard their hi touch ran long or something? idk, so after red carpet, we were herded once again into the arena, but this time it was too fast and it was kind of like a mini stampede. it was kind of dangerous actually :/ but eventually we got to make out way inside, and this time i was actually a little closer to the stage, but bc of that it was more pushy. also wanna one fans were really energetic (hah). they were more crazy i feel than the day 1 fans at least, but again, maybe it was just bc i was closer to the stage this time? who knows.

anyway, so kevin comes out and does more ‘hotels combined’ talking, and then introduces the cover dances (which i feel were better than the day 1 ones. they did really good). and then inseong and rowoon did some mcing (which they also did yesterday), and jooheon and shownu did a special collab stage together. sf9 were up first again. this time they did: easy love, roar and fanfare. so instead of jungle game they did roar this time round. there was some ongoing theme of taking off their jackets that they seemed to start bc every other group kept doing it after them bc it was so hot haha. cue me screaming INSEONG some more bc INSEONG (also jaeyoon!!). after sf9 were up10tion. they did: runner, so dangerous and white night. again, i’m not that familiar with up10tion (i like wooshin but...he’s still getting better so he wasn’t there). sunyoul, hwanhee and jinhoo REALLY caught my eye though. and they’re songs were so good?????? why have i been sleeping on them. so yeah, they did their thing and were very, very cute. after up10tion was wjsn, and they did: happy, secret and catch me. i don’t know them that well either, but i do like secret (and the more than i listen to happy, the more that it grows on me). they also did a cover medley of kylie minogue’s locomotion and can’t get you out of my head (the girl next to me was a huge fan and burst into tears when she saw them). i don’t have a bias yet, but luda, exy, yeoreum and dawon though!!!!!!!!!! so, so beautiful omg. cheng xiao and bona weren’t there though :( then wanna one came out and the crowd went mad. as soon as energetic started, everyone had their phone up and i could barely see anything haha. they did: energetic, wanna be (my baby) and burn it up. they also did some talking in the middle and seongwoo literally came over to my section and sat down and did aegyo IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. jisung did too and all my vids of that are literally just me screaming JISUUUUUUNG at the top of my lungs bc MY FAVE OK MY FAVE BOY I ROOTED FOR HIM FROM THE START. minhyun also came over at one point and did his infamous dance and i’ve recently become a nu’est stan all over again so MORE SCREAMING FROME ME. and woojin came over and did a sexy dance legit right in front of me and i caught it on video it’s the most beautiful thing in the world i am #blessed. also, it was guanlin’s birthday so daehwi (bless that boy) brought it up off script and everyone sang happy birthday to him :’) it was so cute. so after wanna one and their little aegyo/sexy competition, it was monsta x’s turn. SO MUCH YELLING I WELL AND TRULY LOST MY VOICE. they performed: shine forever, beautiful, ex-girl, fighter and hero. I GOT TO SEE FIGHTER AND HERO IN PERSON MY TWO FAVE TITLE TRACKS FROM THEM!!!!!!!!! they did this thing where they proposed to this girl in the audience. i.m. said something cheesy haha, kihyun serenaded her (i survived that somehow), and then wonho. MY MAN WONHO. he went down to the crowd, gave her a heart, took her phone and took a selfie with her and hugged her. HIS FAN SERVICE IS NO JOKE. i know i’ve seen vids of their concerts and always known but actually seeing it live is something else entirely. my lightstick gave out halfway through their set too (prob bc it was too overwhelmed by monsta x as well haha). so yeah, anyway, they did hero and my phone ran out of space (luckily i had my ipod), and then it was over and everyone came out to say goodbye :( but monsta x were the only group to run to the end of the stage and bow again THEY’RE SO CUTE I LOVE MONSTA X SO MUCH I STAN THE RIGHT GROUP. i hope, hope, hope they come back down to australia again at some point (they were saying they would!!) and this time to melbourne too bc i would do just about anything to get to see them again. i love them :’)

conclusion

i am sooooooo tired still. and sore. i had to wake up the next morning at 4:30am bc i had a flight back to melbourne at 7am, and it’s great to be back home, but at the same time the post concert depression is so, so real, and i’ve hyped this up for so long that now i’m like what do i do?? what to look forward to now?? no, but really, it was such a wonderful experience, and i really hope that they do kcon australia again next year (this time in melbourne PLEASE I’M POOR). it’s kind of funny bc most of the people i met there weren’t actually from sydney (most were interstate, and there were a lot of melburnians there interestingly enough). but either way, it was kind of awesome that we all came together for this experience, and it was super, super easy to strike up conversations with people, so if you ever go alone, don’t be afraid to do it bc you’re bound to find someone you can latch onto and hang out with even if you’re introverted. also, make sure to dress appropriately (esp if it’s hot: wear sunscreen!! and bring an umbrella). i hate how they kept making us throw out our water to get into the convention/meet and greet centres when it was so important for us to stay hydrated :/ but anyway, that’s enough from me. i’m sorry this is long. if you got to the end, HOW?? it was so much fun and despite the hot sun and the waiting around for hours, i’d do it all over again :D
