Here it is, y'all!! the ✨lore post✨ for my living doll au :]
CW// discussion of murder, implications of violent acts, implications of body horror/dismemberment, mild grief/themes of loss, very minor suggestive themes?
Er, it's more of a plot post actually? The storyline~
(super long post, I'm sorry lol)
EdgeJeanist centric + some background EraserMic family, rooftop trio, and Mt. Kamui + also Rumi and Keigo being annoying (affectionate) ✨
edit: (whispers) Please check out my animatic for this au if you haven't seen it yet, I worked so hard on it ty <3
Ok, so it starts out with Tsunagu.
[Current time frame is roughly adjacent to the Victorian Era, but it's more of a fantasy-ish world not exactly rl]
He's a tailor who enjoys his craft very much 🧵🪡 But he gets *ahem* ✨hate crimed✨ (murdered) (also hate crimed though. it was a hate crime.) (his corpse was left to rot.)
Fortunately for him, a benevolent spirit passing through the living realm discovered him. Pitying the poor soul whose life was unjustly cut short, he gifted Tsunagu a chance at another life—along with some spooky cool new spirit realm abilities and a brand new look ✨
Back in the living world, in comes Shinya—who was familiar with (and lowkey crushing on) Tsunagu at the time.
He's the first to notice that his favorite tailor is missing, so of course he starts searching. That ends up getting him killed as well, though. (Can't let there be any witnesses, right?)
HOWEVER Tsunagu finds him and uses his newly gifted abilities to (literally) stitch him back together—like a doll :)
Shinya wakes up in the spirit realm, undead and wrapped up in one of Tsunagu's scarves <3
("A gift. To celebrate the start of our newfound afterlives," Tsunagu had said when he asked about it)
In honor of the spirit's kindness, they vowed to use Tsunagu's gift to rescue lost souls who were similarly fucked over in their lives ✨
Over the years, their relationship solidifies—it doesn't progress (romantically (yet)) or anything, but they're close.
(edit: actually, I've decided that they're fuck buddies. it makes more sense for the plot in my head, I think. I'm also a sucker for fuck buddies to lovers. and now this is a fuck buddies to lovers story.)
They live in a mansion in the spirit realm, fulfilling their vow and offering second chances to those whose first chance was ripped away from them. Tsunagu is the head of the house, making sure everything is in order (and lovingly referred to as The Seamstress by the dolls); Shinya is his closest friend and confidant.
Most of the dolls leave after they're revived to explore the spirit realm and find their own path, but some of the dolls choose to stay. Of which include Rumi: a victim of a brutal serial killing, Keigo: who was wrongfully hanged for a crime he did not commit, and Shinso: an unfortunate casualty from a violent accident.
(Shinya stays too, of course.)
Ok, we're switching focus for a sec and also fast forwarding
Closer to modern day, we have Aizawa, who runs an orphanage with Nemuri, and Bakugo, who was recently orphaned.
Bakugo is (as anyone would be) distraught and unstable with his grief over losing his parents. He decides to try reaching out to the spirit realm to at least talk to them one last time, but it backfires as he encounters a demonic spirit and it attacks him.
Aizawa hears the commotion and rushes over to find Bakugo only half alive and critically injured with a curse on his soul. The effects of the attack are far beyond what human doctors would be able to mend.
Luckily, Aizawa has his own connections to the spirit realm (via a guardian spirit named Hizashi who visits him regularly).
He remembers Hizashi telling him about a certain spidery spirit who might be able to help, and he rushes to bring Bakugo to the spirit realm (leaving Nemuri in charge). The ritual costs him an eye and the spirit realm is dangerous for living humans, but it's a price he willingly pays.
Back to the mansion
It's a fairly normal day for everyone, taking care of household chores, tending the garden and whatnot—until a living human comes desperately knocking at the front door.
Everyone freaks out for a moment because this is unheard of. Despite that, Tsunagu welcomes Aizawa in and rushes Bakugo to the infirmary with no hesitation.
Tsunagu just manages to get Bakugo stable. However, he can't fix everything and the curse still remains, slowly but surely draining away at Bakugo's life. He's stable for now, though. Now, they just need to figure out how to save him for good.
Tsunagu also patches Aizawa's eye up, and they speak for a moment, discussing what happened and what they can possibly do. But with no clear answer, they decide that Aizawa would stay in the ✨Doll House✨ with Bakugo until they can find a cure.
(On a lighter note, I'm imagining a scene where they bring Aizawa to the dining hall so he can get something to eat, but since none of the dolls nor Tsunagu need to eat anymore, their kitchen is pretty much empty (save for some moldy bread and questionable canned meat lol). So Rumi and Keigo go on a silly little side quest to obtain some Edible™ food for their guest.)
Anyways.
Have I mentioned that Shinya is down bad for Tsunagu? Has been for the past two centuries? Because he is, and Rumi and Keigo know it. Tsunagu knows it too (and also knows that the feelings are reciprocated, but neither of them have made a move).
Problem is that because of the whole "holy shit you saved me and brought me back to life (literally)" thing, Shinya wholeheartedly believes that Tsunagu is. totally out of his league.
And that only hits harder when Tsunagu starts spending more time with Aizawa. Nothing more than working with Bakugo, but time spent nonetheless. It makes Shinya anxious and just a tad bit jealous.
Why wouldn't a living person who, despite being in a damn near hopeless situation, risked everything to try and save someone.. be more attractive than... a servant with a life debt..?
He tries not to worry about it because no, that's stupid, there's no reason to be jealous—
But then Tsunagu gives Aizawa a scarf. One of his hand-made scarves, of which the only other person who owned one (other than Tsunagu himself, of course) was Shinya.
It unsettles him a little bit. (It shouldn't, he tells himself, but it does.)
What unsettles him more though is the state that poor Bakugo is in.
He spends the next several days alongside Tsunagu, desperately trying everything they could to reverse the curse. From potions to incantations to cantrips...
Nothing seems to work.
Shifting focus again for a sec—to Shinso this time!
He approaches Aizawa not long after he arrives and just... asks questions.
They talk. About the living world, about what being alive is like.
(Shinso died when he was 16 years old, and he missed being alive more than all the others. He was the youngest out of all the dolls. No one was even sure if he would be able to grow up, or if he'd just be stuck at 16 forever.)
So he found comfort in Aizawa. This living person who could give him a glimpse into the life he couldn't have.
Rumi and Keigo hang out with Shinya like usual—and being the little shits (affectionate) they are, they pester him about his relationship with Tsunagu.
He tries brushing them off, changing the conversation topic to Bakugo, but they read right through him ofc so he just. leaves. lol.
Essentially they follow him, trying to cheer him up lol
They pass by Bakugo's room and overhear a conversation between Tsunagu and Aizawa. Tsunagu is talking about how similar he and Aizawa are, in that Tsunagu is the head of a house of lost souls and Aizawa is the caretaker of an orphanage. Something they can connect over.
Shinya overhears all this. He's a little more upset about it than he would like to admit.
Of course Tsunagu notices something is up, though
So sometime later, he finds Shinya and they have a little one-on-one chat.
It's not exactly that they sort things out... but they clear up the jealousy bit—and their relationship *ahem* strengthens. *ahem ahem*
(It's not exactly settled though, and it's not like Shinya's insecurities just suddenly vanished. those are definitely still there.)
More days are spent trying to save Bakugo, along with no success. Bakugo is looking worse by the minute.
(Shinya and Tsunagu continue to..... *enhance* their relationship when they're not busy, too. but that's besides the point.)
Things are interrupted when a living doll shows up at the door alongside a guardian spirit.
(The doll is Shirakumo, and Hizashi is the spirit.)
They brought a recently deceased girl—no older than ten years old—for Tsunagu to bring back to life.
Everyone's... heartbroken. at how young she is.
Eri is scared when she wakes up, absolutely terrified of everyone, and of Tsunagu specifically. She stays close to Aizawa, because he's the only living person there (aside from Bakugo) and everyone else is scary to her :(
(she ends up growing closer to Shinso too (after she realizes he's not so bad; he's also the only other kid there), she grows to see him as a big brother of sorts <3 )
Later that day, in another vain effort to try and find a cure, Shinya goes through the garden to see if any of their ✨magic✨ herbs/plants would be any help. However, he ends up instead getting hit by some spores that essentially get him super drunk, and Tsunagu has to come rescue him. Again.
Cue scene of him just drunkenly fucking sobbing in Tsunagu's arms about how he's always been the one to save him and now he can't even find a way to save the poor kid so how can he ever possibly hope to repay him back for that and that he'd never be deserving of his love—
The next day (sober and admittedly very embarrassed), Shinya spends the next day by himself in the mansion's library. He sorts through the books and files, trying to get his mind off things, and he stumbles upon a letter addressed to Tsunagu and signed by someone named Nishiya.
(It turned out to be a response to a thank you note Tsunagu had written for the spirit that had originally brought him back to life all those years ago.)
Shinya made two realizations in that moment:
1. If this spirit was powerful enough to gift Tsunagu his abilities and bring him back to life, then he might be able to cure Bakugo.
2. He could follow the address to find the spirit—Nishiya. It was risky, as not only was the spirit realm perilous to traverse (even for the undead), but there was no guarantee that he would even find this spirit.
But they were also running out of options.
He makes a plan to follow the address, finds a map he can use, and packs some supplies—some magic thread (procured from the Seamstress himself) to suture his body and soul back together should he need it—to bring along just in case. Rumi and Keigo also manage sneak up on him and convince him to let them tag along.
(Their reasoning was that Oboro and Hizashi were staying to lend a hand anyways, and they allegedly also had some connections that might help them find Nishiya. Which was pretty damn convincing.)
The connections that Keigo had turned out to be a young spirit guide named Tokoyami
He leads them through the world, following the map they have. There's some obstacles on the road, but some other spirit guides (Sero and Kaminari :) ) help them get through ✨
Finally, they find a river marked on their map, on the other side of which should be Nishiya's home—except they happen to encounter the demonic spirit that originally injured Bakugo before they can cross
The demon realizes there are living souls involved and immediately decides that it's going to go finish the job, so Rumi and Keigo fight it to try and hold it back. They send Shinya to go ahead and find Shinji. Hopefully before the demon escapes...
... and Luckily he finally finds who he's looking for! Only... he finds him crying the river he just crossed.
When Shinya asks Nishiya what's wrong, he explains how he fell in love with a mortal woman (Takeyama) while he was travelling through the human realm, but she was dreadfully killed.
Shinya finds her and brings her back for him. because that's just what dolls of The Seamstress do :)
(Technically, he himself doesn't have that power, but he used the thread from Tsunagu that he brought. and also you don't just spend two centuries with a necromancer without picking up a few tricks lol)
When they reunite—this undead human and his ethereal god-like spirit—Shinya has this moment of realization
It doesn't matter if he doesn't think he's good enough for Tsunagu bc none of that matters, friendship is magic y'know (lol)
Still, Nishiya gives him more than he asked for as a thank you.
JUST IN TIME TOO. Rumi and Keigo are unable to hold the demon back any longer and it takes off towards the mansion. They take off after it.
SO THE DEMON ATTACKS MANSION
Hizashi and Oboro reach it first, try to fight it, and pretty much get tossed aside by this thing :(
The demon reaches Aizawa and Bakugo; Aizawa tries protecting Bakugo and nearly gets annihilated instead—his leg gets mauled off by the demon :(
Cue angry spider Seamstress fighting the demon to protect his family <3
He manages to hold him off, but starts losing pretty quickly. this demon is POWERFUL ok
but then IN SWOOPS SHINYA!! ~With a ✨brand new look✨
Together with Tsunagu (and the other dolls + Hizashi), they manage to drive the demon off!! BEGONE DEMON yeah >:)
At the end, they have the whole heartwarming reunion thing, but NOT before Shin'ya uses his ✨new abilities✨ to lift Bakugo's curse... and it works!!
Shinya also stitches up Tsunagu, who was pretty badly injured in the fight with the demon... so now they match!! Tsunagu also sort of freaks out about where Shinya's been and why he didn't tell anyone and what the HELL is up with his new look and how glad he is that he's back—
(A side note about Shinya's ✨new look✨~ he's more powerful now, about the same level as Tsunagu (except he can heal the living instead of bringing back the dead).
He also has moth wings now!! His new role from heron out is to be a guide for rescued souls.
Moths can be messengers, symbols of death, but they're also attracted to light. In this case, he is a beacon for life :) )
Things are resettled from here, happy ending :)
Well, kinda. Shinya and Tsunagu have their whole thing, but Eri and Shinso can't follow Aizawa back to the living world...
BUT! that's ok because Hizashi and Oboro agree to take care of them in his stead :) and they make plans to visit the living realm (and for Aizawa to visit them) when they can <3
(Imagine those four exploring the spirit world together!! having adventures, waiting for the next opportunity to see Shota again 🥹)
now it is a fairly happy ending.
ok that's all I have!! I hope y'all like this. It's not my best work but I think it's still a neat world!! :'))
thanks for reading!!! <3

Regarding your Neon Souls AU, I was wondering if you have any other character's design's down??
Heheheh I am so glad you asked >:D
(Sorry it took a lil longer than I thought, I ended up only doing pages for erasermic and ectoloader bc uhhh motivation left and big sad kinda took over so <3)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So! Here they are! If you wanna know if I have designs for anyone in particular, or any questions about characters please feel free to ask- asks about my AUs make me so happy to see!!!
Anyway, you have edgejeanist, so here’s erasermic and ectoloader. They also have backstories and are. Kinda. Pretty damn plot relevant. So yeah!!! If you want specifics for their backstory lemme know, I don’t think I have the energy to get into it in this one post, I do apologise!
Erasermic: yes. They are bonded. No. They aren’t on speaking terms. There’s a lot of angst and I’m sure you can piece together who it’s about~~ if you remember how I talked about scars taking colour of their soulbond colour- and how when a soulbond dies/turns into a soulless, any of their markings turns grey/dull?? Yeh.
Ectoloader: …..okay yeah. You got me. They’re a happy married couple. Again. But! They have. Quite a bit of angst in their backstory (before the main plot of the au) so!!! That’s my defense!!! /lh (also, it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t make powerloader either have a really fun design, or something incredibly overpowered/super duper plot relevant/important……….so yeah dirt gremlin is important!!!!)
Please enjoy, and I shall draw some more character designs when my art motivation comes back!! <3

You know what scene I still think about a lot? The conversation with Garaki and Mic.
Well, it's less of a conversation and more Garaki infodumping to cause as much emotional damage as possible before he gets his ass thrown in jail.
Still, all of the information we ever get surrounding nomu and Kurogiri specifically is so chilling. And if you've read the School Days arc in Vigilantes it's WORSE.
In Vigilantes, Oboro's death is framed by the narrative as an accident, a tragedy that comes as a result of educators and the government being too eager to throw prospective hero students into the world and out of their depth (wow I wonder where I've heard that scenario before). Shirakumo and Aizawa are in a fight they are not equipped to handle, and Shirakumo pays the price by protecting others over himself. He didn't do anything "wrong" for this to happen, but it happened anyway because the world doesn't care if you were in the right or not when it snuffs you out.
This isn't just a tragic backstory for Kurogiri, it frames Aizawa's entire mindset as he grows into an adult. His beliefs and unorthodox teaching methods come as a result of what he took away from thet tragedy. He emphasizes the unfairness of the world on the first day of class. He refuses to coddle his students. He's against the first years taking work studies. He fully intends to expel students who will not take this training or their own well being seriously because if he lets them stay, they're the next Shirakumo.
And then there's Garaki, all too happy to bring up Oboro to Mic as he's dragging his fat ass out of the lab. Because, you know, fun fact, that attack wasn't a coincidence at all. No bad luck, no wrong place wrong time, because that little work study team was All For One's target. He wanted a new quirk in his repertoire. It's just a shame that they got the wrong one. That erasure quirk would've been so useful. But, you gotta work with what life gives you, right?
Not only did that attack fundamentally change Aizawa as a person, but it was meant to kill him in Oboro's stead. And now Mic knows this. He knows that his best friend died in a deliberate attack to kill his other best friend. And with Midnight biting it not long after this, Mic has lost the last person chillingly aware of what happened to Shirakumo. The last person he would ever be able to tell outside of Aizawa himself. Mic has to sit there and mourn his coworker in Aizawa's hospital room, fully aware that Aizawa saw the lifeless body if their best friend because the intentional, avoidable attack killed the wrong person.
There's no way that Mic isn't aware of how Aizawa's behavior changed between becoming a student and becoming a teacher. He knows him too intimately to not see the difference, the callousness that grew from such a brutal life lesson, the hope that died in his eyes when faced with reality. But he can't say a word, not to him. He can't tell Aizawa that Oboro's death and Kurogiri's creation only came about because the target was on Aizawa's head. But he's forced to know that, carrying that forbidden knowledge to his grave in the hope Shouta never finds out.

Time to be delulu yet completely serious on my bnha 423 opinions.
Good points: The resolution between AFO and Yoichi was satisfactory, love as a reason for evil and evil deeds, the rooftop trio having one final moment full of emotion, the moment of Kurogiri thinking about Tomura and the LOV, Deku having a quirk of his own born out of determination and hard work, Deku as the protagonist of bnha in general, Tomura's last actions and words.
Bad points: Rushed arc conclusions, moments that felt kinda repetitive or lacked the punch given that we've seen/lived them before, not the best compositions we've seen from Horikoshi on the panels, Tomura's arc being rushed to a martyr ending— for impact???? ( or it ending on another cliffhanger that is gonna turn to be different from what we expected ).
I'll go in depth, so please check under the cut.
GOOD POINTS:
Yoichi and AFO:
The last conversation among these brothers was everything I was expecting. The love was there and it transformed them. It made AFO a monster and Yoichi a ghost.
For me, this time the AFO ending needed to be quick because we've already said goodbye to him too many times. This was supposed to be about AFO's refusal to give up on his brother and the unresolved relationship of those two.
I really liked how Yoichi reminded AFO that he needs to face the consequences of his actions and that he's love won't be able to save them.
Villain love:
Love as a reason for pain and destruction is perhaps one of my favorite tropes. So many stories approach love as this purely morally good feeling, when in the end it is just like any other feeling, you know?
People go to war for love all the time. They kill for love. Die for love. Do unforgivable things for love. Human existence is sooooo complex, why would love be the exception?
Horikoshi has been REALLY careful with the AFO backstory and his motivations. He didn't want an antagonist that felt empty. He made AFO human without redeeming him, okay? Because our ability to sympathize with some of AFO's traits doesn't make him less evil. To put it simply, it means that evil things are also human at heart.
Even those acts that you can't forgive or forget are motivated by something.
Kurogiri and the rooftop trio:
We knew from the beginning they were not the main characters of this manga.
We've gotten their story through glimpses and moments. Their time together had always been somehow rushed. Too many things to say, not enough time and they are on opposite sides of the war after all.
We knew that Kurogiri would go back because we knew he would protect Tomura during the final fight. We knew that he'd help the heroes defeat AFO. We knew he'd have to make his choice and say his goodbyes to his old friends.
Kurogiri, Tomura and the LOV
"He's friends are waiting" along with the image of Spinner asking Kurogiri to bring Tomura back to them was the highlight of this chapter for me. (You all expected it, right?)
Something about the way it reads like a father who wants his son to live because he is being waited for. He has friends who love him and would do anything to protect him, see him safe and sound. Something about the symbolism of Spinner putting Father (aka Kotaro's hand) on Kurogiri's face as he asked for it.
This chapter acknowledged that Kurogiri and Shirakumo share the same character core. They are always the protectors, the ones who would sacrifice themselves to see their charge survive. Similar to how Mic was waiting for Shouta so Shirakumo made sure that Shouta would survive, Kurogiri wants to do the same for Spinner and Tomura.
This alone would require an entire post to elaborate.
Deku's quirk:
The debate between endgame quirkless Deku or endgame OFA user Deku is settle.
I really liked that Deku got a quirk on his own that was born out of his own determination to be a hero. It's a nice representation of all he is as a character and what he stands for. Similarly, I enjoyed a lot the fact that it was short-lived. I'm the type who likes it better when things require a sacrifice or when miracles have their own conditions.
Deku doesn't feel overpowered to me. You get that sense that he really deserves everything he has and that it hasn't been a nonsense gift from the narrative. There's also the human condition, the limitations that keep him grounded.
Bnha and Deku:
Deku defeating AFO 'cause villains and heroes help him, his friends being there for him and being there to cheer for him as he fights, his sensei being there despite the fact that Aizawa at first thought Deku wouldn't make it— all the details that make bnha what it is.
They were good.
The UA kids really keep the story consistent when it is about them. They don't give up on anyone, they fight for each other, they stay to witness things for themselves. I love them <3
Tomura's last actions and words:
Careful here. Listen to what I'm saying.
If the narrative had pointed out to this ending, this would have been a good way to execute it.
Tomura coming back along with the vestiges to pack one final punch to defeat AFO— I know many fans that would be moved to tears and would be super excited to see it. Tomura was on point in this chapter, dialoguing with Deku without the hatred in his heart, his face being clearer and almost tender.
He felt defeated, like he had accepted his death already. There's also the connection to Kurogiri and Nana (who defended him) and his words to Spinner, that are meant as a general message to depict how much Tomura values the LOV.
Even the fact that AFO kept him around 'cause a part of him loved / cared about Tomura feels fitting, but I'm not sure if I correctly read the leaks in that part...
Anyway, we got the old trope of the antagonist who used his last moments to help defeat the real villain. It serves as his redemption and the expectation is for the public to feel sorry bad for him.
BAD POINTS
Rushed conclusions:
In my opinion, this chapter was too fast paced and therefore was not as emotional as it should have been.
It doesn't give the feeling that it's fast because the battle is intense. It gives the feeling of too much information packed on one chapter, so nothing really shines on its own. It's way too informative, not enough action narration.
Like I said before, the fatal mistake of a story is to be boring. Art has to provoke you, it has to engage with you, question you, awake things in you. This chapter tho, many things happened at the same time and it grew a bit murky.
Repetitive moments
Again, personal opinion here.
I think certain bnha movies were a mistake. Not because they were bad or boring or whatever, but because Horikoshi wrote parts of bnha real ending into them to the point you'd say "we've already seen that" while reading bnha 423.
Deku and Bakugo teaming up to defeat AFO was so expected. Not as in "the narrative is making sense", but as in "we saw it on heroes rising".
I feel the same with the students all appearing to help Deku fight AFO. That's a typical shonen structure where the friends making space for the protagonist to reach the main villain. It was already happening, so why bring AFO back?? I think the story is over-explaining here, making everything way too obvious. We could have had AFO's resolution with Yoichi before and the students moment after. In truth, it feels like Horikoshi closed some character arcs before he should and left plot holes without explanation, so he needed to reopen to accommodate.
Panel composition:
I admire Horikoshi when it comes to panel composition. He has some amazing panels that make the story really flow, but bnha 423 isn't there.
There are too many elements clustered and empty spaces that don't feel with purpose (in manga, even the blanks must have a purpose). This chapter should have been at least two, so you wouldn't have to rush Bakugo appearing, Yoichi and AFO resolution, Kurogiri saying his goodbye to the rooftop trio and facing AFO for Tomura's sake, Deku remembering where he started and where he is, Tomura last words and the Tomura and Deku resolution...
Those are too many important plot points to illustrate in a hurry.
Also?? The panel of Tomura and Deku punching AFO is so unserious. Totally wrong place to be funny sjbdjdnd why does it even feel like the vestiges are punching air???
" Tomura's ending " :
I'm not the first to say it feels anticlimactic and as if it isn't the ending at all.
The major problem is that through the manga, Horikoshi has focused a lot on Tomura as a character, carefully developing him, giving him tropes that are often reserved for the hero or the main character, making sure we empathize with him, we understand him, hyping up Deku's journey to rescue him.
We got an entire arc from the LOV perspective. This is not the type of one sentence ending you give to an antagonist you spent so much ink and sweat on. The nonchalant way of Tomura accepting his death? The little reaction from Deku? What was the purpose of the manga building up the LOV friendship to the moment where Kurogiri told AFO that Tomura's friends were waiting for him, if you'd make him just disappear on thin air?
This reads absolutely like a bunny within a hat.
That's being optimistic.
If we want to be cynical, maybe this is all there is. I don't find it readable to end the story with Tomura dying. All that effort to save him and it ends in "oh well, he decayed along with AFO"?!
If you think about it, Toga status is unknown because we don't even know where she went or if she's still alive, Touya status is also unknown although we know he wanted to live and that the ice prevented him from further damage, we haven't seen Spinner, we don't know if Kurogiri vanished with that last attack on AFO and now we saw Tomura decaying into the wind.
Yo kill half the surviving LOV would be a bold move that wouldn't follow the narrative. The reward for the hero students should be being able to save their counterpart, so the world can regard them as the greatest heroes 'cause they save the unsalable and blah blah blah.
There's also the fact Tomura hasn't been saved yet. Tenko? Nana and Deku saved him from Kotaro. The crying kid? Saved from AFO by Deku and the vestiges and the others. Tomura? Nop, he's dying/dead. The one person Spinner really wanted to save was Tomura. He didn't know about the crying kid or Tenko. He wanted to save his friend, the "irredeemable" villain, the young man he played videogames with and fought alongside and vowed to follow.
If this is the end, it's incomplete.
So we might hope it is not the end.

what does Mei Shoto and Monoma do in the IT!deku au? Sorry, I was just looking at the au art and am curious
Mei’s a support engineer and shouta and monoma are heroes !
Backstory-wise for deku, I’m still flipping between gen ed and support course but he did go to ua (just never crossed paths with bkg until they started working at the same agency) and that’s where he became friends with mei and shinsou and then monoma by association

gonna dive into shouta’s backstory before i introduce the mc.
for starters, he adopted his daughter (her name is kyoko in my drafts) when she was a few months old (her mom was murdered and her dad was on his way to serving a life sentence).
kyoko inherited a cat mutation quirk from her mom (the cuteness aggression somewhat influenced the hastily adoption) and a teleportation quirk from her father. at the ripe age of four, she’s shown up to shouta’s classroom more times than he’d like.
the first time she asked abt her mama, shouta told her she went to go be with the stars.
she a little on the smaller side (preemie baby) and she’s a curious little sweetheart.
she loves coloring and going outside.
she loves her uncle zashi and aunt nemi.
she loves her big brother hito and her best friend kacchan.
and don’t even get me started on her papa, she looks at him like he hung the stars just for her.
insert mc (my oc’s name is suki). she’s the youngest of four. she came along much later so the rest of her family feels somewhat burdened by her.
thankfully her adolescence wasn’t too terrible with her cousin, emi fukukado (✨for the plot ✨), by her side.
suki’s quirk, heal, heals flesh wounds and broken bones. as long as she’s holding a conversation with the injured person, their wounds should heal quite nicely.
after realizing she couldn’t legally use her quirk to help people, suki enrolled in the hero course of a small high school to get her hero license before going to med school.
shouta and suki meet during a night shift at the hospital just a few weeks before the Entrance Exam. he’s injured and frantic and he doesn’t wanna talk, he wants to get out this damn bed and go home.
who is suki to stop him?
(just kidding she threatened to sedate him if he didn’t calm down)
they see each other again at a cat café. suki is reading a new book when shouta walks in with kyoko im his arms. besides a half assed apology from shouta, they don’t interact much.
the next time they see each other is after the USJ incident. shouta’s cooperative and suki does what she can, but the damage is so extensive that shouta still ends up in a full body cast.
at some point after the UA Sports Festival, the two begin spending time together that doesn’t have to do with shouta being hurt.
they don’t really cross the line separating friendship from romance until after he returns from the Forest Training Camp. shouta is set to speak at a press conference and - even though he’s really expressing it - he’s on edge. they’re not together but they are.
shortly after his class takes their Provisional Hero License Exams, shouta meets suki’s cousin at her apartment. imagine his surprise (and anguish) when he sees emi sitting at the dinner table.
shouts ghosts suki for a bit after the Shie Hassaikai raid, but she’s sure his reasoning is good enough. about a week later, he shows up at her apartment unannounced and tells her everything that transpired. her breaks for sir nighteye, but it shatters for eri.
shortly after the UA School Festival, suki meets shouta’s closest friends, nemuri kayama and hizashi yamada. that’s a story for another time, though.
shouta broaches the idea of introducing suki to his girls. they suggest inviting her over for christmas. when shouta asks about it, suki immediately bombards him with questions about the dress code and what to get the girls for christmas.
back at home with kyoko and eri, shouta asks about what they want for the upcoming holiday. eri isn’t sure what she wants (she feels bad about asking for stuff). kyoko, though? the one thing she wants is a mommy.
shouta tells his girlfriend suki to get them crafting supplies.
christmas day rolls around. shouta drinks a cup of coffee in the short lived silence before kyoko’s small voice rang out.
“wake up, eri née-chan! it’s christmas! gotta open your presents!”
suki arrives later than anticipated.
eri looks up from the couch and kyoko comes around the corner when she gets there. both are expecting to meet papa’s new friend. however, “new friend” goes completely out the window when kyoko sees the pretty woman taking her shoes off at the door looking just like-
“A MOMMY!”
eri is confused and the color drains straight from shouta’s face.
it only takes a few days for the girls to form a bond with suki (kyoko develops really bad separation anxiety) and by the time the new year comes around, shouta officially has a girlfriend.
suki knows next to nothing about the Paranormal Liberation War, so when one of her coworkers finds her in the break room and tells her about what they heard over the radio, her heart drops. not even an hour later are people (heroes, students, and civilians alike) being rushed in the hospital.
most of the people needing suki’s help are civilians that either got caught in the wreckage or hurt themselves while trying to get away from said wreckage. though she knows it was wishful thinking, suki feels herself getting worked up every time she pulls back a curtain or opens a door and sees someone who isn’t her lover waiting for her.
it’s a few days later that she’s finally able to track down shouta. she’s relieved knowing he’s not in someone’s morgue, but she feels like crying seeing him sat in the hospital bed, bandages wrapped around his face and the bedsheet flat below his right knee.
suki takes it upon herself to tell the girls about aunt nemi. though her heart aches from the loss of her (albeit new) friend, she doesn’t want hizashi and shouta to have to deal with the grief of two little girls on top of their own.
upon shouta’s request, suki moves into the small apartment while he’s still in the hospital. he claims it’s because he doesn’t want his cats to starve, but suki’s almost positive it’s for something else.
kyoko and eri take her around campus and she ends up meeting shouta’s class and and shinsou.
“and mommy, this is my hito onii-chan! papa says he’s not really my onii-chan, but onii-chan says it’s okay! does that mean you’re gonna be onii-chan’s mommy too?”
and that’s how the class (or those who weren’t already aware) found out about their sensei’s relationship.
a bond is quickly formed between suki and the students, especially since some of them are still vulnerable after midnight-sensei’s death.
everyone is on edge leading up to the Final War. with work at the hospital and acting as a makeshift counselor, suki tries to spends as much time with shouta and their his girls as she can.
during the fight, suki is tucked away with the heroes, kyoko sat on her hip and eri stuck to her leg. there’s so much going on, what with (in no particular order) the todoroki family showdown, shouta and hizashi disappearing from the playing field, all might and stain teaming up, and all the students putting their lives on the line.
after what feels like an eternity, there’s an eerie calm before suki gives both little girls kisses on their foreheads and rushes out to help in whatever way she can.
when suki and shouta reunite, she’s too busy fussing over him to notice him looking at her with the softest look he could pull off.
“shouta! oh my god, are you okay? let me look at you. you guys just - turn your head, please - just disappeared! i’m so glad - follow my finger please - so glad you guys are- hey! you aren’t paying attention to anything i’m saying to you right now! you realize- wait you didn’t hit your head, did you? can you hear what i’m saying right now?”
a beat and then-
“i love you so damn much.”
hizashi turns away just in time for shouta to grab suki by the waist and pull her in for a kiss.
✦ Epilogue Arc ✦
eight years later, shouta is still teaching at ua high. suki’s making her way up the charts at the hospital.
shouta’s old students have a tendency to seak her out specifically whenever they show up injured. they fully expect the lecture they get every time.
“eijirou, i keep telling you, you can’t give everyone the benefit of the doubt!”
“katsuki, you can not talk to people that way! that’s how you end up in situations like this!”
“denki! how did you even-!”
she’ll claim she doesn’t have a favorite but everyone knows it’s-
“shoto what happened to you? oh, you poor thing, come here so i can get that taken care of.”
shortly after their wedding, shouta and suki moved their family out of the small apartment on campus and into a comfortable sized house not too far from their respective places of work.
hitoshi tries to come by at least once a week for dinner per kyoko’s request. the young man confides in his mentor how he’d come over had the young girl never asked in the first place.
“it’s like a second home.”
shouta keeps it to himself.
eri thrives as a ua hero course student. she comes home everyday and tells her mom about how her day went.
“OH! and mama! i had practice against one of my classmates! she’s really big, and she beat me, but i think i’ll get her next time!”
kyoko is planning to follow in her big sister’s footsteps and go to ua after middle school.
“mommy, i can’t wait to go to ua! i’m so excited, i’m gonna explode!”
suki has a tendency to bring shouta lunch on her off days.
“shouta, there you are! you’re never where you’re supposed to be!”
“i’m sorry, my love. i had to get something taken care of. hey, where are-”
two small toddlers are always a few steps behind her.
“PAPA!”
eiji, loud and rambunctious, comes around the corner at full speed and slams into shouta’s left leg. his older brother, kei, much more quiet and restrained, walks into the room and grabs the shouta’s right pants leg.
twenty years prior, shouta never would have thought he’d have happiness in the form of a loving wife and four (five) beautiful children. now though, he thanks anyone out there that he does.

Chapter 3: It’s just a family dinner.
Summary: Y/N meets Eri and Hitoshi and falls in love with Aizawa’s little family right away. After spending the whole evening with the little group, happy and content, Y/N’s heart shatters into pieces as the end approaches.
!!! This chapter ends with a bit of angst. If you are sensitive to that, wait until next week!
Warnings: swear words, mild angst by the end
First Chapter Master List
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~
“Just a heads up, she’ll probably hide behind me when she sees you.” Aizawa murmurs as he drives. “Be patient with her and she’ll open up quickly.”
Needless to say, you are terrified. Aizawa told you everything about the little girl, about her terrifying quirk and her terrible backstory and you really don’t know what to expect right now; will you be able to make the frightened child feel comfortable around you or will you fail terribly, ending up ruining the poor kid’s afternoon? “I can hear you overthinking. You’ll be fine.” He adds when you don’t react.
“Yeah, I hope so.” You sigh while staring out the window.
The car stops at a small school where a tiny little girl is talking to a teacher; Aizawa jumps out of the car as soon as he parks, strolling towards the little girl while you loiter at the back.
“Papa!” The little girl yells, fresh tears running down her little cheeks as she runs towards Shouta. He takes the little girl in his arms, hugging her closely while the kid’s teacher speaks to him in a low voice; Aizawa’s face contorts into a frown so it’s definitely not a pleasant conversation. When the conversation halts he puts the girl down and takes her hand then makes his way towards you; your heart is pounding heavily as Eri looks at you with worry in her eyes, her small body hiding behind Aizawa .
“Sweetheart, this is Y/N, she’s a guardian of one of my students.” He says, slowly urging the little girl to come forward.
“Hey, Eri! Nice to meet you!” You smile at the terrified little soul. “I’m really sad to hear you had a bad day today.”
“It’s always bad when we share a class with the other group.” She mumbles quietly. “They always bully me for my scary quirk…” Her little mouth wobbles by the end of her sentence and you feel a sudden urge to hug the poor soul.
“There is no such thing as a scary quirk, only scary people.” You say, kneeling down on the concrete to be on the same level. “Even the most innocent quirk can end up being used for evil and even the ‘scariest’ quirk can be used for good. If anyone says otherwise, they are stupid. Don’t listen to them, listen to your papa and to the people you trust, because by the end of the day, they are the ones who matter the most.”
“So you don’t think my quirk is scary?” Eri asks with a hopeful glint in her eyes.
“No way! You can fix people! That’s kinda cool!” You smile but by the look of it, this wasn’t the right answer; the little girl looks at her shoes, tears pooling in her eyes. She looks guilty but you have no idea why.
“I couldn’t fix Papa.” She says, and damn, you are on the verge of crying.
“Eri.” Aizawa reprimands, but you jump into his words.
“Papa does not need fixing, Eri. He’s perfect as he is.” You look up to Aizawa with fondness in your eyes. “And he’s the happiest guy in the world thanks to you. Do you know how much he talked about you today? And your bother Hitoshi? You are his world, Eri. Don’t make him sad by talking down on yourself. Be proud of yourself because Shouta is definitely proud of you. Look at you going to school alone after all you’ve been through. Not a lot of people can do that, you know.”
Eri looks at you with teary eyes, but with a big smile on her face; she stands in one place for a minute, contemplating what to say then suddenly, the little girl is gripping your arms, hugging you tightly.
“Thank you miss Y/N.” She mumbles into your dress then looks at her dad with a hopeful gaze. “Papa, can Y/N come over for dinner? Please please please?”
“I already invited her.” The look Aizawa gives you makes your chest flip; he looks amazed, fond and a little bit incredulous, the man’s face is a mess of emotions but for the first time since the morning, you feel seen as more than the silly guardian of a student; you can feel the shift in the air, crackling with a new kind of electricity as Shouta joins your little bubble with Eri to ruffle her hair, his hands caressing your shoulders gratefully as he moves away. “Let’s go home.” He mumbles and makes his way towards the car; Eri runs after him but not before taking your hand to pull you forward. With one of her hands in Shouta’s and one in yours, she makes her way to the car with a happy face, like nothing had happened at school at all. You respect this child more than you respect adults; she’s already a hero in your eyes.
~•🩶•~
“Tadaima!” Shouta murmurs at the entrance of his home; for your surprise, his house is on the UA campus, a middle sized cabin next to the dorms, just on the edge of the man-made forest. It makes sense, to be honest; the amount of time the teacher spends with his students, especially now that they are all probably struggling with nightmares after what they’ve been through, living close to their building is beneficial for both sides; Aizawa can be in and out in only a few minutes and the children can sleep well knowing their teacher is always around if they need him.
“Okaeri!” A tired voice comes from the living room; a purple mess of a head looks up at the new arrivals, his eyes opening wide when he sees a stranger by the door. “Oh.”
“Don’t ‘oh’ me, young man!” Aizawa snaps and you can’t help but giggle at that.
“Date went better than you expected?” The shit eating smirk on the teen’s face reminds you of your own little menace. They would get along well.
“Say another word and I’ll make sure you don’t finish this school year, Hitoshi.” Aizawa retorts with a quite obvious blush on his face. You love this family so much already.
“Expelling me for personal reasons? I wonder how that will look like on your resume.” Hitoshi grins, his tired eyes somehow still full of energy. You can’t believe these two are not related. They literally look the same.
“You’re only getting cucumber salad for dinner.”
The teen takes great offense at that, apparently disgusted by the mere thought.
“Now that’s just rude.”
“That’s Hitoshi, but I’m quite sure you know already.” Aizawa rolls his eyes. “Hitoshi, this is Y/N.”
Hitoshi ignores the introduction and looks at you instead; he doesn’t make actual eye contact, but you know his next words are meant for you. “Dad doesn’t let me meet Megumi-chan, did you know? Denki and I really want to see the legend who made Aizawa-sensei loose his cool.”
“That’s not true. Denki is the one who’s banned from befriending Megumi and as you two come in a package deal…” Aizawa can’t finish his sentence as Hitoshi jumps into his words.
“Stop talking about him like that. Denki has a big mouth and loves drama but he’s a great guy. He’s not the same person he was before the war.” The boy sighs, his eyes clouded by the grim memories.
“Let them have fun, Shouta. Or do you hate to see me in your office that much? Should I be offended?” You tease, picking up on the teasing vibe of the family right away.
“You found a good one, dad. Well done.”
“I’m going to cook, Eri, show Y/N around. I need a minute.” Aizawa sighs and hides in the kitchen, overwhelmed. You start to feel really bad for ganging up on him now.
“He’s not mad Y/N, don’t cry.” Eri mumbles and it’s the cutest things you’ve ever heard; she actually looks concerned.
“I won’t cry.” You giggle, taking the little girl’s hand in yours. “So where are we doing first?”
“To my room!” Eri yells and pulls you towards a room with a pink door.
You can’t wait to hug the shit out of Megumi for her stupid idea.
Eri shows you around the house, spending most of the time in her room, showing you her favorite toys and pictures. The house is small but really cosy; by the look of it, it’s mostly the younglings who did the decorating; there are loud picture frames with family photos on the shelves, random hero figurines and Eri’s little creations scattered all over the place and for your surprise there is a TV in almost every room showing cctv footage of UA. When you ask about the reason, Eri just smiles.
“He wants to make sure everyone is safe. There is also a camera in the dorm common rooms but Papa hid the live footage so the kids can have some fun without being told off the next day. Papa is nice like that. He comes home grumpy a lot but he really loves his students, especially Megumi-Chan.”
“She gives him a lot of headache isn’t she.” You sigh but Eri only giggles. “Does he get overwhelmed a lot? I mean… does he run away to the kitchen a lot, like he did now?”
Eri makes a serious thinking face and nods shyly.
“He’s not mad, you know.”
“I shouldn’t have done that though. You shouldn’t tease people you don’t know well.” You sigh in agony. You feel extremely guilty and honestly, you kind of want to leave. Every family has their own style, you had no right to comment on Aizawa’s strict parenting.
“Why don’t you go and talk to him?” Eri offers. You can’t believe she’s only 7 years old.
“Yeah, that’s an amazing idea, Eri!”
The little girl looks at you with a proud face, pushing you out of her room right away. In only a few seconds you end up being pushed into the kitchen; you can still hear Eri’s tiny giggles as she closes the door behind you.
Shouta is in his own little world, stirring the stew on the counter, one of his legs propped up on a chair while he massages it with his other hand, where the prosthetics are attached.
“Does it hurt?”
Shouta jumps from the sudden voice behind him.
“Wouldn’t say that, it’s just uncomfortable after a while. It’s fine.” He mumbles, staring at the food.
“I just wanted to say sorry.” You sigh. “I overstepped my boundaries. I shouldn’t have teased you.”
You really want to cry but that would definitely make the poor guy freak out even more so you decide against it and take a deep breath instead.
“You didn’t do anything wrong.” He says, not looking at you at all. “I’m just… fuck.” Shouta pops the wooden spoon into the sink unceremoniously, his voice flat and unemotional. “I had a good time today. I liked spending time with you and the kids already adore you. You made Eri smile and Hitoshi felt comfortable to speak up in front of you. We’ve known each other for a year but today was the first time we spoke about anything personal, but if feels like I’ve known you for ages. You also fit into my family so perfectly. My kids are a lot yet you didn’t even budge.” Your heart swells from the words and you want nothing but to embrace the man in front of you. “But this doesn’t make it less wrong, Y/N.” Aizawa says and your heart breaks into pieces. “It’s already troublesome to be my son’s homeroom teacher. I can’t mix my personal life with work any more.”
“Okay. I understand…”
“But…” Aizawa jumps into your sentence. “I want to be selfish for a few more hours. I’m sorry.”
The time freezes while your brain tries to comprehend the implications of his words and when it finally does you really want to push the man in front of you until his back hits the kitchen counter, just to barge into his personal space and kiss him deep and sweet while your hands mess up his perfect bun… but you are quite sure that would end up with you being banished from this household so you decide to answer like a normal, sensible person instead.
“Okay.” You giggle shyly, with a slight blush on your face. “Yeah, okay!”
“Thanks.” Shouta smiles and it turns your word upside down.
~•🩶•~
The dinner goes amazingly; the whole family chats around you as though you’re not just a stranger interrupting their family meal, everyone banters with everyone, then Eri begs you to stay over for a movie. You really should go but Eri-chan wants you to stay so much she’s even willing to share her favorite ice cream with you so you decide to play along for a bit longer.
Hitoshi sits on the sofa chair, scrolling on his phone and typing religiously before the movie starts, Eri sits in the middle of the sofa, urging the two of you to sit on her two sides ‘so she can share her ice cream’, but she probably just wants to be loved. Eri gets really sleepy around the middle of the movie so she decides to snuggle into your side with a happy smile on her face; Aizawa decides to join the cuddling session by putting his arms around your shoulders. It’s so domestic and so sweet you can’t help but smile at him with affection swirling in your tired eyes; he looks back with the same expression, calm and content, almost daydreamy and it’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. You two get lost in the moment for a second, completely forgetting about the two kids in the room; you only wake up from your daze when you hear the shutter of a camera going off; Hitoshi looks down at you with a shit eating grin, showing off his absolutely fucking adorable picture proudly.
“Toshi, delete that, now! You can’t just take random photos of people without their consent!” Aizawa reprimands. Hitoshi only shrugs and looks at you questioningly.
“Toshi, send me that picture, now!” You retort and Hitoshi laughs; Aizawa just hides his face in his palms, shoulders tense, clearly given up on this conversation.
“You two are terrible for my heart.” He mumbles, just as Eri opens her sleepy eyes.
“I’ll put Eri to bed and go to my room. I’ll send you the picture dad, forward it to Y/N. Nice to meet you, I hope to see you soon, yeah? Don’t be a stranger.” Hitoshi smiles with Eri in his arms, slowly moving the little girl to her bedroom.
“I should go, it’s really late.” You mumble as you make your way towards the entrance. You are way too soft and emotional right now to stay alone with this man. You just can’t take this anymore; this man and his loving, mischievous family is everything you’ve ever wanted in life and you know you can’t have him. It hurts like a bitch. You just want to go home and curl up in your bed then cry yourself to sleep.
“Wait!” Shouta jumps off the sofa, slowly limping towards you; he must be in a lot of pain by now; you really wanted to ask him to take his prosthetic leg off in the kitchen but you didn’t have the guts to ask; you definitely aren’t close enough for him to be comfortable around you in his natural state yet… well, technically, he never will be as this ends right here, right now. Your already broken heart breaks into even smaller pieces by this revelation. He stands in front of you, supporting himself by the wall to ease the tension in his legs; he’s so close you can smell his perfume; it’s strong and musky with a hint of bitterness to it. You’ll never forget this scent until you die. “Thank you for today. I had a great time and it’s all thanks to you.” He sighs and looks into your eyes; his eye holds an emotion you can’t really decipher; it’s soft and sad, but also kind of happy… it’s a little mess of everything and you can’t stop staring at it. “Y/N, you deserve the word and I’m so sorry I can’t give that to you.”
Rejection. You knew it’s going to happen but it doesn’t make it any less painful.
“Thank you for doing this for Megumi.” You give him a sad smile, seconds away from crying. Aizawa makes a terrified face at you; he looks anxious about something but he doesn’t say a word. “I’m sorry for ruining your day off.” You mumble and you’re just about to open the door when you’re stopped by a hand on your shoulders; the feeling of freedom made you let your guard down, tears falling on your cheeks heavily as you look up at the hero’s heartbroken face.
“Y/N, you have it all wrong.” He says, pulling you towards him to hold you close. You decide to look at the ground; you can’t keep looking him in this state. “I don’t know how to say it so I’m sorry in advance.”
“What…”
You can’t finish your sentence because the words get stuck in your throat as Shouta gets rid of the distance between you two and embraces you so tight you can barely breathe. He grips the hair on the back of your head, pulling you closer and closer and the words stops for the nth time; your hands automatically shoot up to grab the back of his shirt, trying your best to convey your emotions, but it’s just not enough and he certainly feels the same if his death grip is anything to go by. You stay like this for way to long; at least a few minutes pass before he lets you go, but not before he puts his lips on your forehead with a pained look on his face.
“Take care, okay?” He mumbles, his voice broken and full of agony. You don’t respond, just step back a few steps until your hands find the door handle.
“Shouta…” you say, clear and confident. “I like you. So if you ever change your mind, you know where to find me.” You top your words with a tiny kiss on the tired-looking hero’s cheek and this time, you manage to open the door and slide through the crack, not waiting to get an answer.
~•🩶•~
“Auntie, how was it?” Megumi jumps out of her room right as you enter the living room. She takes a good look at you and pales completely; she can definitely see how red your eyes are. “What happened?” She tries to come closer but you step away from her, making your way towards your bedroom.
“Fucking great. I met his children, he made us dinner, and I had a fucking amazing time. It was great until it lasted, Megumi. Now leave me alone. Leftover’s in the fridge. Don’t bug him with stupid questions, he did what you’ve asked him to do, so keep your end of the bargain.” You deadpan and close the door aggressively; you know how unprofessional you are right now, acting like a stupid teenager when you are supposed to be the adult in the household, but you can’t do this tonight. For your surprise, Megumi doesn’t say a single word and goes back to her room. The night is silent but your thoughts are not; you roll around in your bed the whole night, not getting a wink of sleep and even when you do, you wake up after a few minutes to Shouta’s scent in your nose.
You would like to laugh at yourself for falling in love after one stupid date but the truth is, you’ve been crushing on this man since the first meeting in his office so these feelings aren’t new at all; they’ve been there the whole time, dormant and invisible, sneakily waiting for the perfect time to explode out of your chest.
“Everything will be okay tomorrow.” You mumble into your pillow and close your eyes; maybe if you say that a few more times you’ll believe it.
… Next Chapter!

Potato ramble:
- Ah man, I hate angst. I really do. But Aizawa needs some time to get his shit together. He’ll be fine eventually.
- I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I love this new version of Hitoshi who’s not an emotionally constipated asshole 😂 He transferred to class A after the war hence why he’s so close with Kaminari. He managed to fit in really well thanks to him and opened up to people. I love him 😭😭😭
- Aizawa doesn’t hate Kaminari by the way. He genuinely loves him so much but there is no way he’ll show it. Also, Kaminari and Megumi together are nothing but trouble, he’s absolutely right about that. You will see 😂

Friday Fic Recs
I'm back with more BNHA fic recs, I have read hundreds of Quirkless Vigilante Izuku fics and well, I enjoyed a lot of them. In fact, my first fic posted to AO3 was a quirkless vigilante Izuku one shot. So, today, I present fics in which Izuku is a quirkless vigilante and interacts with Aizawa Shouta. These are all less than 6k words and arranged in alphabetical order.
Crawler 2.0 by Catlady5001
Izuku thought what happened on his last grocery trip was a one-off occurrence. Hint: it wasn't. Accidental vigilante Izuku! I love how he falls into vigilantism in this fic and all the lives he touches (and baffles). It's really sweet and he comes off so kind here!
open hand, closed fist by achievingelysium
After a month of chasing Knockout around corners and across rooftops, Shouta finding the vigilante bleeding on his doorstep is the last thing he expects. Our boy bites off a bit more than he can chew! I love his relationship with Aizawa in this fic and how Aizawa gained his trust. They are both so caring.
Vigilante Work And Other After School Activities by lovelysandlonelys
Izuku is a vigilante, Aizawa likes cats and therefore kids who help cats, and sometimes breaks must be forced upon overachieving teenagers. This one gets a special shout out for its worldbuilding! I love Izuku's backstory! I love the in-story speculating and theorizing! Aizawa's relationship with Izuku is also a delight.

Hey! I just saw one of your post about how Hizashi could have been more fucked up the Shota, and in the second paragraph it mention his quirk being used to kill Oboro? And I never knew that and I am very confused. TvT
Okay, so in Vigilantes (the my hero academia prequel series) there's an arc in the middle with Aizawa's backstory that goes into more detail than the main series about who Oboro was and how he died.
Spoilers for that ahead!
Basically, when the three of them are doing their internships, Shouta and Oboro are with the same agency, but Hizashi was placed with a different team. Both teams respond to a giant villain, and Hizashi and his team just throw everything they've got at the villain, not knowing that it can absorb their attacks and then use them itself. Which it does. First Hizashi's voice quirk, and then another student's quirk are used to weaken and bring down the building that kills Oboro.
And even though it wasn't Hizashi's quirk that directly killed Oboro, and he had no control over the situation anyway, I still think it's something that he would have a lot of guilt over being involved in at all.
Anyway, here's the relevant pages

hOW MANY SPINOFFS OF STRAY DO YOU HAVE
UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FOUR
so @shabby-blog, who's been my cheerleader for this story since 2022 (ironically during a time I wasn't actively working on it because I was SUPPOSED to be working on Crumbled Rooftops the ONE SHOT for the bnha big bang) is 90% of the reason the spinoffs exist
Obviously just from the WIP list there's two of them
Runaway is HYPER specific. It's because of this part of Stray Chapter 2
'He’s 22, and his sister asks what he’s running from when she finds him trying to leave the house in the middle of the night. He tells her he doesn't know, and it’s not a lie but it’s not the truth either, and somehow she convinces him not to run away. Not this time.'
I mentioned offhandedly to Shabby when I was talking about that bit since it was something I hadn't even considered until I was already writing it that most likely Shouta was running away because he had yet to mention the suicide attempt to her and made the decision that his sister's family was better off without him, and that her stopping him would finally have made that information come out. Shabby made a comment about wanting to see that scene and the other night I started the doc just to have it started.
Stray but Shouta Decides to Stay is ALSO heavily on Shabby because they asked what it WOULD have been like if Shouta decided to stay and I came back at them with a whole outline of what would have happened and ran with it
The Dabi spinoff- which is called Burn Brighter and hasn't been an active WIP for over a year- is the whole backstory about how Shouta helped the Todoroki family get out of THEIR shitty situation since I obviously didn't go into it much in Stray but wanted to have this connection of Shouta being more likely to help others than to help himself
AND THE LAST is one I started for fun that is likely now just going to be Runaway that was Shouta awkwardly trying to figure out how to fit in with his sister's family and failing
Stray holds a very special place in my heart and Shabby's and they've been excellent at making me write it and giving me ideas for the various spinoffs I definitely don't need but want to write anyways
