We decided to do the most terrible thing possible to Collie - puberty >:^)

The boy becomes stronger. He loses control over his magic, his body constantly morphs and strives to become BIGGER. And the funny thing is that neither the kid nor Philip know what is happening to him, and those who know (Archi and Colibri from TandemAU) do not tell. Archi thus takes revenge on Collie for abandoning their family, and Tandem-Colli, to whom his Archi told everything about puberty long before it began, decided that this was not his problem

The only one who tries to help Collie and give at least a rough idea of ​​puberty is Luz. She has no idea how puberty works for the archivists, but she shares with Collie her knowledge of how it works for humans. It doesn't help much, but Collie now at least knows the name of his "disease"

But the problems don't end there... Collie is horny. And he is very, very ashamed of it. He wants to fuse souls with someone. And due to the fact that the only person close to him is Philip, he begins to think that he is in love with him. And Philip, like a typical anime protagonist, doesn’t understand shit and thinks that Collie is just hungry. THEY HAD A MOMENT when Collie, during their another fight, almost swallowed Philip’s head, and this, as we remember, is the language of love and sympathy for Archi (and probably all archivists, I think). And then Collie quickly came to his senses, pulled back and hovered for a minute, after which he ran away without saying anything. What did Philip do? Philip, our dearest autistic creature, didn’t understand a damn thing and ignored what happened. EVERYONE. Literally EVERYONE NOTICED, only Philip didn’t notice

All this Collier's ignorance about what is happening to him, his inability to put energy somewhere and confusion in feelings lead to the fact that he turns into Collistrophe - the final boss of the anarchist story. He becomes completely uncontrollable, his desires get the better of him, and Armageddon begins on the Boiling Islands. And if previously the residents of BI still somehow put up with what was happening, then THIS case crossed all possible lines. There is no night - it is always day, and no one can sleep no matter how hard they try. Noise, fun and games 24/7!

How will Luz, Hunter and Philip get out of this situation and calm Collie down? WE DON'T KNOW :))) But we'll figure it out

These last months, I felt ashamed whenever I encountered other "leftists" minimalizying or even defending putin's actions and the invasion of Ukraine

I saw so many communists go "don't trust the western media!!" and then link to either Russians sites or MLs pages. And, yes, I think this is a very big problem in the leninist camp From what I've seen, many MLs politics just became USA BAD and so closed an eye (or 2) to Russia since the 2 countries aren't in well terms

How in the world is that a half decent political take? Where did all the "material analysis of the world" go?

If u can see and denounce the imperial actions of the US in Latin America in the last century, why is it so hard when Russia does the same?

"the owl house" thoughts - s2 finale

i'm just gonna bulletpoint here. starting with things i liked:

obviously, i like that the collector ended up being someone with their own motivations rather than just like a xD quirky ex machina

i like that hunter wasn't able to fight belos, even when it counted. so often you see the """satisfying""" thing where an abuse victim just snaps and decks their abuser in the face without fear. i'm sure hunter is mad deep down... but i like that it's something he's not able to channel, due to other emotions like fear being paramount here. perhaps even lingering love.

in fact, IF hunter stays this way... i, resident hunter disliker, may even grow to like him. i just assumed, TOH being somewhat predictable, he was gonna have the classic arc of realizing he's been lied to and then Beating Up His Abuser. i want him to stay more conflicted. more gentle.

i like that they played into belos as someone who wants to save humanity with more sincerity. that felt very fake and cheap before, it was more substantial here. it was like he almost had a real motivation!! rather than being just an Evil Liar who Lies!!!

as much as i didn't like how refusing to free the collector was another instance of belos being, well, an Evil Liar who Lies, in hindsight, it does make sense. this kids a powerful lil fucker.

i also like that this means we have a "villain" who is not an authoritarian, but an anarchist agent of chaos. wild magic, even. sure, i don't think the collector will really be a villain, more an unpredictable force of nature who may actually just be having a tea party with king right now. but still. duality! nuance! yay!

also huge fan that the belos goo attached to hunter and came with to the human realm :D i'm sure this means only good things :D ok but unironically i would like a redemption arc ("we need your help to save humanity") that only i will enjoy, while every egg on twitter complains about it being unearned or rushed.

WE GOT A TITLE DROP!!!!! THE COLLECTOR IS CREATING AN OWL HOUSE (TM) THAT MATTERS TO THE STORY?

things i disliked:

the aforementioned "you lied to me!" betrayal between belos and the collector. i feel like every poorly-written villain has to do because they're the villain. they're an asshole to people around them not because it furthers their goals, but just to make sure the audience knows they're an asshole.

same thing with kikimora.

in the collectors case, like i said, not entirely unwarranted... but it does seem like an instance where belos is just big mad that he cant control them. its not like he's doing it for the boiling isles' sake. its just him him him.

wow they really just had belos try to kill everyone (even his followers, some of which he's known for decades, if not centuries!) just to once again show that he's the bad guy.

okay. so. this is a big one - in a show for kids, you know the protagonists will survive. that's not a bad thing! but it does mean you NEED emotional stakes that aren't rooted in whether people will live. and almost everything "emotional" this episode is a fakeout about someone dying.

strongly trying to resist urge to contrast it to SU "change your mind", where steven's entire identity as himself, as someone separate from his mother, hangs in the balance.

raeda suffers the most from this. like 50% of their relationship is already someone lying or tricking the other To Protect Them (tm), which i already don't love... but to ALSO have their main emotional thread in the s2 finale be a fakeout sacrifice is not great. we know raine isn't gonna die, we know eda isn't gonna die. this is a real relationship with emotional complexity, but they can't steer it in any other direction than angsty fake sacrifices.

oh eda got out of the coven system REAL easy. just remove the arm, i guess. that's dumb. i wish she had stuck with it. could've prompted some soul-searching now that the new threat (the collector) is the embodiment of wild, unhinged magic.

other general thoughts:

look. i know belos tentative truce with the heroes is extremely unlikely, but i feel like even people who want him to just be a villain have to be somewhat charmed with the idea of grumpy ghost goo following the gang around, commenting on how stupid their plans are, how he should be the leader, etc.

on that note, luz actually keeping her promise and getting belos some modern human clothes would be sick. girls night shopping trip WHEN????? i wanna see him in yeezys.

i'm all on board with king molting theory. make him big.

bring luz' mama to the demon realm somehow. she seems somewhat disillusioned with her own life, yknow?

while i agree that this was a somewhat messy / overstuffed episode, idk, i think that lends it an advantage in that it can't just wrap everything up with a neat little bow. i think that lack of time might even benefit the show in s3 somewhat, because they might have to keep some things open-ended. which i like :)

- Zeke’s the son of a rich, talented bigshot in the abomination coven, Ezequiel Aterborn V (maybe an ex-head who retired when he got Too Old For This ShitTM)

- His father, while harsh, pretty heavily spoils him, same as in his normal verse. Although as Zeke’s gotten older he’s been pulling in the reins.

- Zeke’s a wild witch with no plans on joining a coven, despite his father’s insistence he settle on abomination magic like his family lineage always has. His father often tries to pacify him by saying he can do what he wants when he joins a coven, but Zeke’s hearing none of it. 

- Zeke is MOST talented in illusion magic, which he uses to steal and wreck havoc. He’s a criminal gang leader of like-minded, wiild witch anarchists like himself and lives in an underground lair protected by illusion magic to look like something else (idk what yet). 

- Everything else about his personality is basically the same.

#Indie Review: 'GANDHI GODSE EK YUDH' (23) ! Indie * : 4.7 / 5 ! ONE OF THE GREATEST IDEOLOGICAL FILMS IN THE HISTORY OF HINDI CINEMA / BOLLYWOOD ! Not only is this film great, for bringing together 2 of the most perennially relevant historical figures in Indian polity, on one dramatic platform over an entire film duration, but for successfully managing to bridge the thaw btwn the 2 extreme/polarized forces (that these 2 are seen as representing) on either side, at a large massy/grass root level, like only few well-made popular mass media like Bollywood can! Godse, the representative, per description of left or long-ruling wing, of the outta control highly volatile unreasonable brash politically lusty right, & Gandhi, per many in the right, a prime symbol of the sly conman, using his charm & deceitfully subtle argumentative dexterity, to slide through all impure & largely harmful or even destructive intents & narratives, in guise of high nobility. IMAGINE a scenario, where Godse's bullet, on that infamous day on 30th Jan 1948, didn't achieve it's fatal ends, & Gandhi was actually saved, & returned once again to normal health! Just what all would've ensued on this front?! These are the questions this fantastically intellectually creative film tries explore. Envisaging a scenario where Gandhi decides to go meet Godse, now in prison for attempted murder & not assassination, & try calm down hateful fires on either side. Further thereon, what if Gandhi, true to his public image, turns a vigilante & anarchist against his own ruling Govt, fighting against the same old continuing regressive societal practices, in now independent India, that only Govt's are authorized to take law in hand to try control, & not civil society, turning into a sorta treasonous figure in eyes of top establishment soon thereby!? And what if he is then arrested, & demands that be lodged in the same prison, & same jail cell, as Godse!? & THE FUN BEGINS! The genius of this film lies in it's near-perfect & highly searing writing & dialogues, & many memorable lines like, when: eg a. Gandhi reminds Nehru to the effect, "Sarkaren seva nahi karti, hukumat karti reh jati hain". eg b. And when Godse reminds Gandhi to the same effect,"Aapne hamesha loktantra ki duhai deke, sabko nahi uthaya, par ek jamaat ka paksh liya aur doosre ko durbal banaya. Mandiron me toh kahte ho Quran ki ayaten padhai jayen, par aaj tak ek bhi baar ye kyun nahi kaha ki Masjidon me Geeta path ho? Kyunki jaante ho ki 'mahaul bigad jayega'!" eg c. And when Gandhi reminds Godse,"Toh kya maine desh ke liye kuch nahi kiya? Namak satyagrah, asahkarita andolan, kya ye sirf musalmanon ke liye tha?" eg d. And similarly,when a 3rd person shows Godse the mirror, "Angrezon ne bhi toh peeth peechhe humpe itna samay atyachar kiya. Unke khilaaf toh ek patthar nahi uthaya,aur Gandhi baba pe seedhe goli?!" Dialogues, all sound & impactful in themselves, to rightfully & deservedly put the other to shame.

Similarly illuminating, when discussions veer towards a moot point of friction btwn the 2, an event inviting the extreme violent reaction from Godse, namely, Gandhi's advocacy of the Rs. 50 crore grant to Pakistan, per partition terms, even during unforeseen circumstances of defacto war btwn the 2 states, & when such money was obviously gonna be used by Pak, not for it's development, but destruction of Indian citizens via purchase of short-use arms. There too, resolved, via Gandhi's startling disclosure of how twas never him that advocated such a measure, rather the Govt of India, a power structure he for a while had been cast away from & made largely irrelevant (once Nehru developed his own hotline with the British supremacy, & no longer needed Gandhi), & how he himself had turned into nothing more than a disposable figure for his own party, using his face to conveniently hide all dirt under their carpets. Also when Godse reminds Gandhi of his own political duplicity, in talking democracy on one hand but throwing out the hugely electorally popular Bose from party Prez'y,he'd won v.handsomely & fairly, for disagreements over subtleties of modus operandi, & placing 'yes man' instead, also how had Patel deprived of a much deserved PM job,elected by 12/15 state units of party in effect for it, by pushing his blue-eyed boy Nehru instead. All accusations Gandhi's shown to've no answer for. And taking a detour from political subjects, when topics move towards areas of lifestyle, & when Godse reminds Gandhi how his admonishment of 'developing & fanning sexual feelings towards opposite sex' was choking the younger gen in finding soulmates, & how twas against the "Vaishnava janato taine kahiyehe, peed parayi jaane re" tenet he promoted. And how such vibrant debate,Gandhi was never used to, caused him to reflect (via dreams of his deceased wife) on his own grey practices,hint on the widely known (as confessed to in Gandhi's own popular diaries) 'nude (non sexual) experiments' Gandhi indulged in with the opposite sex, incl members of own extended family & wives of friends, that could've tantamounted (if not necessarily so) to increasing & not decreasing sexual fires & tensions. So in the end, we all know how Godse was a deeply flawed man, if not in intellect, certainly in harnessing emotion. But what was Gandhi? Was he a British agent or stooge, or a sly religiously divisive figure, a cunning politician who also used religion, or highly misunderstood person, or was he simply a guy with a unceasing urge to be 'the most popular guy in the room, at all costs' like so many others, that destiny presented in such fantastic light? All explosive qus, climax puts to rest, when both protagonists, now friends, are shown leaving jail together, purposefully refusing to be garlanded by either side, so to begin the next phase of their journeys together..as learning evolving beings.
