Lovebug - Lucifer Morningstar x afab!Reader

Author’s Note: Thank you to both of the anons that made this lovely request. I know nothing of pregnancy so I did some research, so if anything’s wrong sorry about that. This is my first time writing a pregnant reader as well. It is good to be back.

Request: Yes. Two Anons requested very similar scenarios so I combined the two here.

Summary: Reader is pregnant and was alone due to her ex-husband abandoning her when she was around 3 months gone. Lucifer asked what her desires were and is shocked when she said that she wants him to be her baby daddy

“C’mon lovebug you gotta be good for me today,” you whispered to your bump.

You were three months pregnant and three months free. Freedom wasn’t what you thought it would be like when you were a kid. Divorced and pregnant by your former husband you were scraping by as best you could, but you were happy. You still had your apartment and you knew you had your job at LUX.

Battling morning sickness and day-to-day nausea were now almost everyday occurrences for you, but after everything your husband had done to you in that marriage giving you the gift of a child forming in you made you feel brave. Brave to be free and continue on in life, you were just a little unsure of where to go with this freedom, but you have time to figure that out.

Deep breaths in, and there we go. You can do this now just out the door and have a nice day out, you pep talked yourself out the door.

You breathed in the fresh air and kept your head up as you walked on the sidewalk. You wanted to figure out your job situation first, so it was best you headed to LUX, hoping your boss Lucifer Morningstar was there and also hoping your lovebug would quit hopping around in your stomach for a couple of hours.

You managed to walk to LUX briskly and safely as it was only a couple of blocks away from you. As you entered the building it was only hitting five pm so you are hoping that it wouldn’t be overwhelming for you. As you surveyed the area you were relieved to find that the regular stench of alcohol wasn’t very potent and people were only just arriving at the club. You still had your employee badge to get inside the building quickly and spotted Maze working at the bar so you made swift work on getting over to her.

Maze was one of your favorite coworkers and she knew all about what was going on with your relationship and the divorce of your ex-husband as well as your pregnancy. She was the best friend you could hope for during that rough adjustment period. When Maze spotted you walking over to her as she was getting the bar prepped she beamed at you and jumped over the bar to hug you tightly.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” Maze exclaimed laughing at the end.

She was looking you up and down when she asked, “are you doing okay? How is the little parasite doing?”

You laughed at her nickname for the baby and said, “I’m alright, the little bug was calm enough today that I felt like I could come here today.”

“Yeah? How come? Do you need money? Because you know I don’t think boss would be that opposed to giving you paid maternity leave,” Maze stated.

“Yeah I do that’s why I was hoping to talk to him if he’s here,” you said.

“He’s here, he’s up in his penthouse, y’know how he is when it comes to him appearing at the night scene in LUX,” Maze replied leading you to the elevator in the back that takes you up to the apartment.

“Yeah Lucifer was always one for dramatic entrances in his own club,” you said as you both laugh at your boss’s dramatic nature.

You and Maze entered Lucifer’s penthouse and were at a loss for words about how it looked. It definitely looked like a playboy’s apartment and you were becoming more and more unsure of yourself as you stepped foot in the suite, but Maze either sensing your unease called out for Lucifer. He popped his head out of the bedroom and a smirk appeared on his face as he saw the two of you. Maze parted with a goodbye to him and a hug for you.

“What brings you here, (Y/N)?” Lucifer asked as he looked at you quizzically.

“I just wanted to talk about something that’s come up recently in my life, as you know I have been taking some days off for being sick and my divorce being finalized. I found out I was pregnant recently,” you stammered out. You felt quite nervous with each admission even if it was just the beginning of your confessions.

“Oh, congratulations if that’s what you want to hear, I presume,” Lucifer said with a more genuine smile appearing on his face than his signature smirk.

“Thank you, yeah I’ve thought of them as my little lovebug,” you replied.

“How cute?” He questioned with a tilt of his head as he looks at your barely there bump starting to form.

“Did you want to maternity leave while you take care of yourself and your kid? It will be paid of course,” Lucifer said gently.

“That would be amazing Lucifer,” you said.

His first name always felt heavy on your tongue when addressing him that even after two years of working at LUX. You hesitated with leaving right away now that you got that question answered and as if he could sense your hesitancy he takes a step towards you so you could look at him as he speaks.

“What is it you desire, darling?” he asked.

“For someone to help take care of me and my baby. I’m scared of doing this alone,” you admitted before you could stop yourself.

You felt horrified at your own confession and just stared at Lucifer for a second before taking a step back, but before you could go any further you felt Lucifer take your hand gently.

“Love? Could you look at me?” Lucifer asked gently and felt relieved when you did.

“Do you - do you want me to help you with your pregnancy?”

You opened your mouth but quickly closed and you nodded your head guilty at being found out.

“Hey, it’s okay, I’ll be honest I might be a bit more confused and shocked than you are when it comes to all this parenting stuff but I am willing to help you with whatever you need. You are frankly a wonderful employee here as well as an amazing friend and confidante with not just me but with Maze as well. I’d love nothing more to help you even if it’s just to be baby daddy love,” he finished with a wiggle of his eyebrows and signature smirk.

The end of his speech caused your eyes to wet and you gave a soft laugh as you wiped your eyes before tears spilled.

“Thank you Lucifer, that’s very kind of you, but you don’t have to do anything,” you said.

“Oh I want to darling, and besides I think everyone in LUX knows you’re my favorite employee anyway,” he said with a grin.

“What? You’re ridiculous,” you replied.

“That’s no way to talk to your soon-to-be baby daddy,” he playfully scolded you.

You waved him away as he moved closer to you.

“I’m happy to take care of you, you know? I just didn’t expect that’s what you want, love,” he said softly.

“I didn’t expect to confess to that either, I was scared, and am still scared of being alone throughout this pregnancy,” you confessed.

You looked up at Lucifer and noticed a soft look appear in his eyes, the lifted eyebrows and pouty lips gave him away. You almost let the thought sink in of him, sincerely caring for you, in more than just a platonic sort of way. The thought of Lucifer being romantic towards you, made you feel flustered and quickly shook your head and quickly blamed those thoughts on your hormones.

As you said your goodbyes, you were left feeling hopeful and happy about the outcome of your meeting with your boss. It feels like the start of an extremely cheesy romance novel. God, you really need to control these thoughts of yours, you shook your head again.

Months passed and throughout your pregnancy Lucifer had been a gentlemen throughout. One instance that you think back constantly was when Lucifer had taken you to one of your appointments. He was very gentle with you, leading you through doors and making sure you sit down because at this stage you were constantly sore and Lucifer must’ve figured that out. At the appointment the doctor had even complimented your relationship.

“Y’know, my partner wasn’t nearly as attentive as your husband is when I was pregnant. You must feel very lucky,” your doctor complimented.

You were thrown back at the compliment and this was the first time that it really hit you how much of a couple the two of you must’ve seen from an outside perspective. However, before you can even say something about it Lucifer beat you to it.

“I’m the lucky one, because she picked me to stay by her side throughout the whole thing. She truly is a lovely person and a wonderful partner,” Lucifer said almost too sweetly.

You almost considered it insincere but later at your house, you realized just how doting he could be to your and your baby by the small, quiet looks he gives you when you’re not looking. That scary singular thought occurred to you because of how your last partner just left you, but seeing how comfortable and loving Lucifer has become around you, you became hopeful at the prospect of Lucifer loving you back.

Those kind thoughts, the excitement of Lucifer seeing your little lovebug coming and the new nursery that Lucifer gifted you with got you through your pregnancy and through the actual deliver. For when it came and you went you were in love with your little lovebug bundled in your arms and Lucifer being with you throughout the whole birth which although stressed out and screaming during you were very grateful towards him afterwards. Although he just hushed you and kissed your forehead when you tried to speak them out.

He was always stroking a hand, arm, or leg to make sure that you were comfortable throughout your stay in the hospital and you thought you would just cry at the kind gestures which you think you did multiple times.

As you came back to your house for the first time since your delivery with your lovebug in your arms as you enter you felt a wave of relief as you got your baby to sleep. You slouched onto the couch as you turned the baby monitor on, you see Lucifer come over with a mug of ginger tea being handed to you. It smelled divine to you as you gave your thanks to him.

“Thank you so much for everything this whole year,” you said.

“Oh it was an absolute pleasure, love. I quite enjoyed spending time with you,” Lucifer replied.

You hummed back at him as you sat back in a comfortable silence sipping your tea. A feeling of familiarity and warmth came over as you sat next to him. You wanted to voice how you felt but it got caught in your throat everytime you went to speak so you decided against the idea and went back to sipping your tea.

Lucifer sensing something was off took the mug from your hands seeing you finished it and turned you towards him.

With a soft smile he asked, “Is there something you want to say, love? It looks like you are far away from me.”

“I don’t know, Lucifer,” you shrugged hoping that he’ll let it go, but he stays persistent.

“Oh come on now, don’t make me use my interrogation trick on you,” he whispers with a smirk on his face.

“I-I’m just scared, I guess” you half-lied.

“Scared?”

“Yeah, I guess I became comfortable with you always around and how safe you’ve made me feel throughout the whole pregancy and now that my little lovebug is here. I’m just scared on how I will be on my own now. If I’m gonna be a good enough parent, things like that,” you confessed now twisting your fingers on your lap not looking at him anymore.

There was a couple of seconds with just silence as you heard Lucifer move but didn’t want to look up as you stared at your lap. Than you saw him in your peripheral get closer and felt two hands gently frame your face urging to look up, so you did. You saw Lucifer’s face with such a look of love and adoration you practically melted in his hands, it was also patient as he gives you a bright smile

“Now what on Earth made you think you would be on your own now? I’m not just gonna disappear now that the little bug has shown up. If you want me next to you for a while more, I’d like that. I don’t know if you know darling but I’m quite fond of you and the little parasite.”

“You are?”

“Oh darling, I hope this doesn’t come to haunt but stop me if I misread this,” he said as he moves even closer than before and leaning down.

Your breath hitched and eyes fluttered shut as you felt him crowd around you and he pressed his lips softly on yours. So softly that you thought it wasn’t happening at all until he nipped your lip and pulled a gasp from you. You finally moved your hands from your lap and grabbed his shirt to pull him as close as two bodies can get. He gently caressed your head as his other hand landed on your waist. The kiss was becoming multiple as he laid you down carefully on the couch as he continued to kiss you.

You finally had to pry away for a breath as you looked up at him, as he framed you, you gently caressed his face and watched as he gave you another bright smile and kissed your wrist. The smile turning into a smirk as he felt your pulse stutter at the contact.

“In case it wasn’t clear,” he whispers leaning down so your foreheads are touching, “I love you sincerely and wholly. I want to be in your and your baby’s lives more permanently than some caretaker if you let me.”

“Oh Lucifer, I love you too, I would love for you to be a part of me and my lovebug’s life,” you said leaning up to seal the confession with a loving kiss.
