It was Seamus who appeared in front of her as she surveyed the repairs on the sail.

“Fish is here, Captain,” he told her.

She’d always look first, because this fisherman always put in a special piece ‘for the Captain’. She inspected the food. There was only her regular order. She looked at Seamus. “Load it.”

Peeved, she shouted harshly at the crew to continue on the sail and then she walked off the ship and down the pier. She walked until she found his ship in its usual spot. She walked over the gangplank and onto his ship.

He was working on a fishing net, his strong hands twisting the rope expertly to weave it into a net. His dark hair obscured his eyes from this angle. He looked up as he heard her, his green eyes always bright against the blue of the sea locked with hers.

“Did I do something to anger you?” she asked him.

He had the nerve to smile at her. As if he didn’t know what she was capable of. He placed the net beside him and stood up. “No one said you’re entitled to the best fish I can catch.”

She raised her eyebrows. “I wouldn’t claim so.”

He chuckled. “I didn’t give it to Seamus so you’d come over here. It’s extra special and I wanted to make sure it was all yours.”

“I think you should know that we’re on an even playing field now.” Harry gave her a look, asking: what do you mean? “It’s easy to be the fastest on the team with a five hundred galleon broom.”   Harry inspected George’s old Cleansweep, turning the handle over in his hand. “Oh yeah? Shall we test it out then?”  Ginny snorted. “What, race?”  “Scared, Weasley?” He asked, leaning infinitesimally closer.  There was an irresistible challenge in his eyes, the hint of a daring smile on his lips, and Ginny’s heart began beating faster in anticipation. “Just of seeing your face when you hand over the Captain’s badge.” So the route was set. Whoever was first to make it over the small hill, around the far cluster of trees, and pass between the make shift hoops won. Absolutely no cheating would be tolerated.

Little snippet from Chapter One of The Grapevine, which should be hitting AO3 soon* - thanks for the tag @starlingflight!

This is meant to be 100 words, but I'm a bit over, what with me being the incorrigible rebel rule-breaker that I am.

“Ouch! You nasty little git!” Albus Potter sucked his finger, and then irritably examined the oozing cut. In front of him, a particularly grubby gnome watched him with beady little eyes, licking its lips. Al could have sworn it was grinning at him.  “Come here, you bugger!” Al made a grab for the errant gnome, but lost his footing in the loose earth and ended up sprawled, face down, in a flowerbed. The gnome took to its heels, and ran giggling behind the rose bushes next to the window to Al’s father’s study. Al pulled himself to his knees and tried to brush the dirt from his arms and legs, but it clung stubbornly to his sweaty limbs; it was far too hot to be running around like this.

*Several definitions of 'soon' are available, and may constitute anywhere from tomorrow to 3-4 working years. Nah, seriously - hopefully posting next month. The last chapter references the first one, so I can't post anything until I'm totally sure it lines up.

I think a massage fic is exactly what it says it is? If not then woops.

Harry and Ginny accidentally separated from the rest of the group and lost in the deep jungle. They have not dated (but harbour secret feelings for each other) Initially they both keep to themselves while staying together but they have to face that if they want to survive this, they need to work together. On their third night sleeping close together to keep warm and safe, Ginny suggests they massage each other to help their sore muscles and help them relax and sleep. It starts off great. Harry massages her shoulders and back and her legs but stays far away from any potential danger zones. Ginny however doesn't pay close attention as she chats and her hands go up his thigh, higher and higher and ... this leads to embarrassment from Harry's side, and amusement from Ginny's. All of this leads to a blurted confession from Harry and an enthusiastic snog from Ginny. That of course leads to some late-night jungle sex. They make promises to each other in case they make it out alive, and in case they don't.

favourite song in your native language Onderweg by Abel! They're a Dutch pop band and this song is 24 years old

most hated song in your native language? Currenly it's Erop of Eronder by Pommelien Thijs. There is nothing inherently wrong with this song but the first sentence always puts me off. It's something about the pronunciation. And it was being played on the radio a lot when my sister was moving and my brother-in-law kept accidentally singing it. Drove me insane!

three words from your native language that you like the most?

Sfeerspons. It's a compound noun and it's more colloquial. It translates to vibe sponge more or less? It means a person who sucks all the fun away when people are enjoying themselves

Hottentottententententoonstelling This is often said to be the longest word in Dutch but that is not correct, there are definitely longer words and in theory you can attach words endlessly so the longest word does not exist. It means a Hottentot's tent exhibition. But you can see why that is 'fun' word to say.

I have about a 1000 versions of Hinny's reconciliation after the Battle in my brain and I don't think I'll ever make my mind up, but I do think that it happened shortly after the battle, and it happened quite naturally. They love each other, and they're so hot for each other and they are each other's comfort. Ginny is symbolic for his future. I think it starts the moment the book ends.

🦴 ⇢ is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?

No, I never get inspired by anything in media really to write stuff. Couldn't be me!

Yes, of course I do and more than I care to admit. While Spilt Blood did not sprout from anything specifically, once I do start writing, I think back to Pride and Prejudice or Bridgerton to give me that idea of dynamics and vague society norms. It is a bit of a starting point to work from.

As for Peverell's Progeny, the idea wasn't from media but I think about series like Bones where you get a fantastic dynamic between the main couple. I feel like this will especially come in later in the story. And a little bit of Juno as well

As for the Dirty Dancing AU, we all collectively know I won't write that so I can't possibly comment on that.

oh good god this could be a dangerous one!

alright I don't headcanon Sirius with tattoos at all. I know people want this rockstar vibe from him but I don't get that at all. I know some are 'prison tattoos' but Azkaban doesn't seem like a prison where you can walk around and talk to other prisoners and I can hardly imagine the Dementors as tattoo artists. And he was 21 when he went to prison, I don't think he'd have time or would want to have a tattoo. The only 'tattoo' we know of is the Death Eater one, and I can't imagine he wanted to associate with that.
