Follow a rumour as it spreads through the extended Potter/Weasley family one sunny Saturday afternoon, helped on its way by Albus, Lily, Audrey, Molly, Victoire and Teddy.
Chapter 3 - Audrey
Audrey reflects on life as a Weasley, as Ginny carries the rumour to lunch with her sisters-in-law.
Rating: T
Read on AO3: From the Beginning / Latest Chapter (2.3k words)
Preview below the cut:
Audrey’s father died when she was just a small child. Her elder sister was already away at school when Audrey was born, and with such a large age gap between them, the two were never close. When her mother too passed away, just after Audrey started work at the Ministry, she found herself quite alone. Back then, she was shy and lacked confidence. She didn’t make friends easily and missed the other girls from her dormitory at school, now scattered across the country, but she accepted her loneliness easily enough. It was simply a part of her life. But that didn’t mean that she ever stopped longing for something better.
The day she met her Percy, it all changed in a heartbeat. He asked to share her table at the Ministry cafe, and by the time they had finished their lunchtime sandwiches, Audrey was smitten. Not long afterwards, when she and Percy married, she became a Weasley. She soon discovered that being married to one Weasley really meant being married to all of them, and Audrey was thrown headlong into the noisy, chaotic maelstrom that was life at the Burrow. Audrey had sometimes found it bewildering, but right from the first instant, she loved being part of a big family. Twenty-one years later, she still thought of it as rather like belonging to a very special club. She sometimes wondered whether those of her relations who were Weasleys by blood ever really appreciated what they had.

It's WAY better to outright boycott eurovision and not give them money at all but the fact that the audience was booing and yelling "Free palestine" during Israel's performance is so funny 😭

Growing up, did anyone else think that the phrase "heard it through the grapevine" was refering to a litteral grape vine?
I always imaged two people picking grapes and talking shit about a third person that was blocked from view by grapevines

“Love has never been a popular movement. And no one's ever wanted, really, to be free. The world is held together, really it is held together, by the love and the passion of a very few people.”

Bug of the Day
I see these big grapevine beetles (Pelidnota punctata) at my lights all the time, but I'm not sure I've ever photographed one actually *on* a grapevine.

A ceramic vine clutches a pot containing dahlias and is the perfect detail for this porch. Designer Ronald Grimaldi says 'I wanted to create a cool, refreshing 'living porch' where people can relax, dine, read, drink, and meet in comfortable and luxurious surroundings.

Little snippet from Chapter One of The Grapevine, which should be hitting AO3 soon* - thanks for the tag @starlingflight!
This is meant to be 100 words, but I'm a bit over, what with me being the incorrigible rebel rule-breaker that I am.
“Ouch! You nasty little git!” Albus Potter sucked his finger, and then irritably examined the oozing cut. In front of him, a particularly grubby gnome watched him with beady little eyes, licking its lips. Al could have sworn it was grinning at him.  “Come here, you bugger!” Al made a grab for the errant gnome, but lost his footing in the loose earth and ended up sprawled, face down, in a flowerbed. The gnome took to its heels, and ran giggling behind the rose bushes next to the window to Al’s father’s study. Al pulled himself to his knees and tried to brush the dirt from his arms and legs, but it clung stubbornly to his sweaty limbs; it was far too hot to be running around like this.
*Several definitions of 'soon' are available, and may constitute anywhere from tomorrow to 3-4 working years. Nah, seriously - hopefully posting next month. The last chapter references the first one, so I can't post anything until I'm totally sure it lines up.
I'm meant to tag people. I never know who might want to play, so if any of the following do, woo hoo! And if not, just ignore me:-) @ginnyw-potter @fizzyginfizz @tomjamesavery @briarpotter @four2andnew

Many are the faces of the Hellenic God Dionysus, but the duality of his nature is sometimes connected with two specific plants associated to the god. Dionysus relates to many plants such as Fig, Oak, Pine, Vine and Ivy, these two are specifically connected with two opposite faces of the god.
Grapevine starts its annual growth cycle in spring with bud break. During spring and summer, the plant grows and after flowering the vine sets the fruits that are usually harvested in early autumn. Following the first frost the leaves begin to fall as the vine starts to enter its winter dormancy period. The following spring, the cycle begins again. Following the same annual cycle Dionysus is seen as a god that is reborn every spring, bringing during the hot season prosperity and abundance before disappearing in winter. Grapevine grows thanks to the hot weather and humidity and so it represents the warm fertilizing humidity power of the god. Grape is used to create wine which is the drink sacred to Dionysus because of its ability to release mental faculties.
Ivy on the other hand, blossoms in the autumn when the vines are harvested and bears fruit in the spring. As an evergreen plant, ivy needs cold weather and humidity to grow and flower.  Ivy vines crawl as snakes and in the myth, ivy appeared soon after the birth of Dionysus to shelter the child from the flames that burned the mother's body. To its freshness was attributed the virtue of dispelling the ardor of wine, so Dionysus was believed to have commanded his worshippers to crown themselves with it. Ivy, in contrast to the vine that bore fruit bearing vitality and exaltation, produced a poison that sterilized and had medicinal virtues that were refreshingly depurative and narcotic. The plant is also connected with thunder and lightning and was believed to have the power to protect from lightning and cure sore throat and cough.
Thus these two plants sacred to Dionysus are contrasted with each other in an eloquent contrast: the vine, drunk with light, is a child of heat and returns the rays of the sun by warming, with its libation, bodies and souls, while the ivy shows itself to be cold in nature; indeed the sterility and uselessness of its first sprouts recall night and death.
Their affinity is rooted in the very essence of the dual-figured god, whose nature is expressed from the earth by means of them: light and darkness, warmth and coldness, intoxication of life and breath of death that withers everything; the multiplicity of the Dionysian aspects struggling with each other and yet conjoined with each other is manifested here in vegetal form, stands in struggle with itself and prodigiously transitions from one form into the other.
Dionysus rules over all moist and hot creatures whose symbol would also be wine, as a hot and moist substance. In wine, heat is made ardor drink of fire that overwhelms everything, that ignites the soul and the body. But the moist heat is contrasted with the moist cold that as a Dionysian element, is manifested in ivy, a plant that greens even in winter when the Dionysian festivals take place.

My running list of interpretations of "And they aren't talking" in Good Omens Season 3:
Yep, they sure did separate at the end of S2
Shocker. The beings who haven't been allowed to talk openly since before the stars existed still aren't talking
They are absolutely the type of petty bastards to firmly insist they're "not talking" to each other to each other
They're talking with each other but aren't spilling the tea to others
They're not talking on purpose because Heaven and Hell want them to work together
Notes left at dead drops, meaningful glances, miraculous music, clandestine clothing cues, and messages relayed by intermediaries aren't "talking"
The first two seasons were absolutely rife with beings who "weren't talking" via a grapevine "that obviously doesn't exist"
This is probably just a teaser for the first half of the first episode anyway, just like with Season 2
Can't talk if you're too busy making out

Lovely textures for this outfit, pairing a brush strokes like purple-indigo kimono, with a tsumugi obi depicting handpainted budô (grapes vines)
